the pennsylvania state trooper who was killed during a training exercise last week is laid to rest today, many gathered early to remember trooper david kedra who collogues say loved his work. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter had has more from northeast philadelphia.

>> reporter: gray and blue lines stretched for blocks outside christ the king church, thousands of troopers and officers from as far away as alabama, paying respects to fallen trooper david kedra. the 26 year-old trooper died six days ago accidentally shot by a fellow officer during a training session at the montgomery county firing range. inside the church the the trooper's mom, dad, brothers and sister, slowly made their way up the aisle his nephew robbie proudly wearing kedra uniform hat. >> you only wore the big hat for two years but you wore it strongly, proudly, enthusiastically. >> reporter: for pennsylvania troop hours came here to christ the the king church, it is the second time in less than a month they have mourned a fallen fellow officer. >> in the middle of a manhunt for an individual who murdered a state trooper just a couple weeks ago. so, that agency right now is

i'm chris may with some of the day's top stories, police question a person of interest in this frightening attack on a woman in chinatown. the man who was caught on the surveillance video hit that woman over the head with what appears to be a hammer in the bag, and he then sexually assaulted her. school reform commission has canceled the philadelphia school district's contract with the teachers union. the the members will now to have pay for their own benefit packages. the union protest but the changes are set to go into effect december 15th. ebola continues to spread outside the african continent.

but his plan didn't quite pan out. on thursday after two days at sea with little american protein bars and bottled water a coast gar cutter located bell lucci, disorientedded, making little progress and asked fisherman and boaters directions to bermuda despite warnings about possible dangers, he told the coastguard captain that he was not about to give up. >> i said you will have a hard time punching through the gulf stream and heading east to make bermuda. >> i have been practicing for two years for this. >> so you are declining to stop your voyage at this time and embark the coastguard cutter. >> yes, i am continuing to go. >> on saturday his location beacon was activated prompting a rescue operation 07 nautical miles off the the coast of st. augustine florida he was pluck and brought a shore. but he says that he never needed to be rescued and the beacon went off by accident. he was treated and released.
