>> i'm jessica dean. we want to tell you up front that no one had ebola on the plane, but this situation demonstrates how public health officials are trying to stay on top of the threat and how even the mention of this deadly disease is taking extremely seriously. >> all of this happened on u.s. airways flight from philadelphia to punta cana in the dominican republic. matt rivers shows us what happened. >> reporter: for those on board u.s. air flight 845 it started normal enough. when that flight landed, a flight attendant made this announcement. >> i want you to keep your wits about people coming on, please, stay out of the their way. let them do their job. >> reporter: the person who posted this video to youtube wrote, passengers were told by the flight attendants that there was situation and that a passenger may have been in africa and ebola. she was certain it was a hoax. but did not take any chances. a team of local officials wearing hazmat suits boarded the plane recorded by many passengers as the team walk to the back. from there, they escorted an

matt rivers cbs-3 i it news. >> that's one scary flight there, matt, thank you very much. meanwhile texas health officials did say today dallas county sheriff's deputy who exhibited symptoms of e best la tested negative for the disease. that deputy had been inside the dallas apartment of that man thomas eric duncan. he was the first ebola patient to die after being diagnosed in the u.s. duncan's body will be cremated to prevent the virus from spreading further. the search for serial burglars who may have most recently struck in delaware conte. this group is accuse evidence taking advantage of their victim's trust and then stealing what they can grab. tonight diana rocco has a look at how they operate and who they're trying to find. >> reporter: police are looking for this man, part of a burglary rink targeting elderly in several states. >> you feel invaded. >> reporter: bob manual says before lunch last week a money knocked on his door saying he was from the electric company. >> he said, take a walk around i'll show was we're going to do.

the elderly woman on main street was told the water company needed to check for toxins while she waited. a man fitting this description radioed to two others who were inside her apartment when a neighbor walked in the three fled. >> we believe very strong until this has happened to other people in darby and they just haven't reported. >> utility companies will never send a worker to someone's home without calling first. police are asking anyone who feels they may have fallen victim that this scan call 911. diana rocco cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> big change coming in our weather. there's rain on the way. and cooler temperatures when you step out the door in the morning. meteorologist kathy orr is here with what we can expect. kathy? first we're looking at the clouds chris. they'll be moving back into the region during the overnight. then we're looking at the rain a stationary front is going to drag all of this toward the delaware valley. most likely tomorrow afternoon. so a good portion of the day rain free. when we wake up we'll see much cooler temperatures. right now in philadelphia 59.

the u penn police officer who pulled her over. it happened wednesday morning on thoughtth street near woodland walk. now rodriguez did not stop right away and when she did, thing escalated. so a bystander started recording. rodriguez claims that another officer responded to the scene and used homophobic slurs while insisting the bystander stop recording. rodriguez was eventually ticketed and says she accepts responsibility for running a red light but she says the officer's actions were unnecessary. >> when slamming your bike into me trying to make me crash and then holding a can of pepper spray, that's ridiculous. that's excessive force. >> penn police say that they're in the middle of a share the road campaign and that this officer was simply enforcing the traffic laws. the department says it will look into the other allegations. well philadelphia police need your help they're trying to identify a pair of cycle thieves tonight. the two were caught on camera over the weekend stealing four bicycles from a building on

rittenhouse square. >> taking all kinds of bikes, high end, low end. >> it's honestly what we're feeling because it's my only mode of transportation. everyone i know that bikes has had if they're not they're whole bike stolen wheels stolen. >> this is a problem in the ci city. police say that about 400 bikes were stolen in the center city area just this year. now to exclusive video of the man dubbed the burka bandit. police are asking for the public's help to find a man wanted in a string of bank robberies in south jersey. the suspect wears a burka during the heist and escapes on a bmx bike. the most recent robbery happened at the beneficial bank in audubon yesterday. police believe the same man struck the neighboring audubon savings bank and at the susquehanna bank in camden last month. >> a jury convicts a montgomery county man of first degree murder in the deaths of a baby and her grandmother in king of prussia. prosecutors say this man killed 10 month old baby girl and her

61 year old grandmother two years ago in a kidnap for ransom plan that went wrong. prosecutors say tonight they are seeking the death penalty. >> the defendant has his mother to beg for his life but that same opportunity was not given by the defendant for the baby's mother. >> given everybody he's been through he's not an evil person, and he's not the worse of the of the worst and accordingly he should not be put to death. >> if the jury does not sentence him to death, he will be zen didn'ted to life in prison. tonight police are searching for the vandal who's spray painted a racial slur on a center city high school. it was a story you saw first on cbs-3 "eyewitness news". we blurred out the slur on the front door at john w. hal la man catholic girls high school. school maintenance crews scrubbed the doors before students arrived for class this morning. now police are reviewing surveillance video hoping to identify and catch the suspects. >> now to shocking case of

alleged bullying. a teen with autism says two older students duct taped him to a goal post and left him there. >> the alleged hazing happened on sunday at a high school near pittsburgh. this is 16 year old austin babin sack. he was duck taped to that post for about 15 minutes off duty pennsylvania state trooper found him and set him free. >> they duct taped my hands, my leg, all the way up to my waist. all around the whole pole and tightened it as hard as they could. then they attempted to try to take a picture of it. i told them no and they walked off in frustration. >> well tonight a coach and two players have been suspended. the coach insists he was not aware of what was happening. well, campaign trail tonight potential presidential contend contenders stump for the candidates in the race for pennsylvania governor. dualing rallies tonight first governor tom corbett's he was joined by new jersey governor chris christie at a rally in

stars. tattoos are everywhere. >> these three leaves were the first set i ever got done. >> reporter: robin marquis is part of a new trend people who do their own tattoos at home. >> i think having the experience of having a tattoo at home is really awesome. >> reporter: but the national tattoo association has concerns about home tattooing. >> it's a trade that needs to be taught, and if you're not taught properly, you're not going to be doing pop work. >> reporter: it's become easier to get a tattoo outside a licensed and inspected shop. online there are directions on how to tattoo with a sewing needle and this youtube video shows how to make your own tattoo gun. you can even get complete diy kits on the web containing needles, ink, possibly even an electronic tattoo machine. no experience necessary. >> are they clean? are they keeping things sterile? are they using the proper sutures? are they using the proper ink? >> reporter: the fda takes complaints about tattoo related

from over the next 24 to 48 hours. for your friday look for an area of low pressure to drag a frontal boundary eastward with some rain showers. it becomes stationary and that means it will be impacting our weather for at least a day or so. so we are not side of this with a north northeasterly wind it will be cloudy with some rain developing in the afternoon. steady rain at night. then saturday morning some showers and then thanks to this area of high pressure, everything is pushed to the south into virginia and north carolina. and we at least see some sunshine during the afternoon with temperatures bouncing back into the 60s. sunday another beautiful day with partly sunny skies as that high settles in right over us. but staying on the cool side and then temperatures begin to rebound by the beginning of next week. here are the details of the rain. tomorrow afternoon after about the 3:00 o'clock hour the rain moves in. and then through saturday morning by about eight, 9:00 o'clock in the morning we'll be seeing things begin to dry out. rain amounts between half an inch anism. highest amounts philadelphia south and east and then clearing saturday afternoon.
