in one on the plane has the virus but when plane landed in punta cana in the dominican republic passengers found out just how seriously airlines are taking ebola a tonight steve paterson talks exclusively to one man on that plane. >> reporter: for a moment, mood was tense on u.s. airways flight 845. >> at the first i think everybody was scared. >> reporter: philadelphia resident joe mccann was on board when word traveled through the plane someone saying they were infect withe bowl a when the plane landed. >> i want to you keep your wits about you, we have people coming on please, stay out of their way. let them do their job. >> reporter: mccann waited for an excruciating hour and a half, the time it took health officials to confirm what people on board already started suspecting, and were getting angry about it was all a hoax. we spoke to exclusively over skype. >> certain things you cannot say and not something you can joke b you cannot make a joke like. that over 200 people on that

meanwhile world health organization says the the number of deaths from ebola has topped 4,000. most of those victims are from western africa. tonight we are hearing for the the first time from a sheriff's deputy from north texas who was hospitalized with ebola a-like symptoms but tested negative for the virus. that deputy was inside the apartment where the first u.s. ebola patient stayed before he died of that virus. >> i was scared, they tell me my temperature was 101.7 because i knew 101.5 is point where they talk about things that being a key point for ebola a and i saw two nurses look at each other with wide eyes, i wand fur my ticket has been punched. >> as for thomas eric duncan the the ebola a patient died medical record sent by his family to the associated press reveal his temperature spike to 103 degrees when he was initially sent home from the er at a dallas hospital. he had director indirect contact with nearly 50 people in dallas.

>> he wants to be a police officer. he adores his father. he really does. whether he can be a police officer, i don't know but i'm not going to say no to him because sky is the limit. >> reporter: shane's journey to joining the force may be more difficult though. it all goes back to his very first minutes of life. >> the kid calling mrs. boyle and doctors said he was fine. >> reporter: his mom said knew something was wrong, after ten months she got referred to a neurologist at children's hospital. >> he did an mri and he had had a stroke. >> reporter: shane was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and what has followed was weekly physical therapy and numerous treatments but that is not stopping him. >> he never gives up, no matter the procedures he has, the surgeries he goes through, the physical, occupational speech therapy he goes through three times a week at children's hospital, the traveling even hurt his legs,

his arms. he goes through it with a smile. >> reporter: mom and dad found out early on what makes him smile. >> when i graduated from the police academy my mom gave me a blanket and it has a picture on it and it looks like a patch. shane said i want to be like daddy and pointed out my blanket that has the patch and said i want to be like daddy and i want patches. >> i put the you tube rid yes together and we got the patches. everyone says it. >> every time he opens that envelope or that letter wow just smile. it makes him feel good and it makes him feel good there is other people like daddy who support him on his bad days. >> reporter: with dozens of patches some from as far from germany and as you veil use they turn a good friend to make a very special surprise for shane. >> close your eyes. >> remember all your patches. >> now shane can take this with him to children's

it is moving in for the weekend, the question is will the entire weekend, wash out, good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm chris may. >> kate bilo gets us started tonight and she has her eye on the rain and chilly temperatures tonight, kate. >> chris and jessica, it turns out cloudy and very chile, temperatures barely got in the lower 60's, some spots stayed in the 60's all day and tomorrow may be a repeat of that. we haven't had steady rain, you can see light showers starting to move in, quickly from west to east but really heavier rain is still to come and it will come through early tomorrow morning. so steadier showers around richmond, virginia area but we're really looking at this batch of rain in eastern tennessee and you can see trajectory of this, clouds and rain lifted to the north, this rain will come through our area, overnight, and into early tomorrow morning. in fact lets take a look at future weather a and we will time it out. most of this evening is cloudy but you can see first part of
