♪ >> breaking news right now at 11:00 o'clock amber alert has been issued late tonight after stolen suv took off in trenton with a little girl inside. police say that five year old jania davis was inside the tan forward for escape when it was stolen on brunswick avenue and chase street. jania is about 4 feet tall, weighs roughly 40 pounds. she was last wearing jeans and a

pink shirt. we're told the suspect is driving that tan forward for escape with new jersey license plate h66-ebc police are looking for that tonight. we will stay on top of this story. in the meantime if you have any information you're asked to call 911 immediately. also, breaking right now, a man who killed a baby and her grandmother is sentenced to death tonight. jurors in montgomery county deliberated his fate for 3.5 hours this evening. he reportedly showed no emotion in court. he was convicted last thursday of stabbing 61 year old grandmother to death and then killing her 10 month old granddaughter back in 2012. >> we hope it can bring a little close shower for the vennas this has been a difficult two yours for them. >> if he had expressed remorse that we would have -- we would have had a better chance to save his life. but that wasn't his strategy and accordingly here we are.

prosecutors say he plotted to kidnap the child for ransom money to feed a gambling addiction. he killed the grandmother when she got in the way. >> we received dire warning tonight from the world health organization. it says that ebola must be contained within two months or west africa could see 10,000 new cases each week. the cdc says it has a new plan to help u.s. hospitals handle ebola. the agency will immediately dispatch response tomorrow to any hospital with a confirmed case. we've also learned that 76 people cared for ebola patient thomas duncan in dallas. they are all being monitored. meanwhile the nurse who was infected while treating duncan is in good condition now and she is thanking her supporters. a local teacher is on the front lines of ebola fight. see what she's doing in west africa that is making a difference. we'll have her story about 10 minutes from now. >> and "eyewitness news" will stay on top of the ebola outbreak both on television and

online. we have assembled a resource guide to help keep you inform. you can find it on cbsphilly.c cbsphilly.com. it is warm and humid and we have our eye on storm system headed our way tonight. meteorologist kathy orr is tracking when it will arrive. kathy? right now, we are seeing a few showers throughout western pennsylvania. it is warm and it is muggy. but more rain to come with this cold front extending from ohio all the way down into the deep south and all of this is moving toward the delaware valley. we have strong wind gusts already winds gusting close to 30 miles an hour from philadelphia through our suburbs and through south jersey. and all of this is moving our way. the mild and muggy air will continue and then the storms will be coming. after the storms much cooler air will be invading the delaware valley as well. we'll watch the storms approach with some heavy rain and wind tomorrow but that is just the half of it. we are looking at the threat of rain that could lead to some flooding we'll talk more about that and the timing of these storms coming up a little bit

later on in the broadcast with that timeline. for now, jess, we'll zen it back to you. >> kathy, thank you. new tonight, a booze battle in chester county. the question that's front and center should alcohol be served at the same place where kids are playing sports? the controversy is heating up at the united sports training center in west bradford township. "eyewitness news" reporter to quinn nope is live tonight with more. todd? >> reporter: jessica, people who run this facility say if you could buy alcohol at a bowling alley, at a golf course or even amusement park where there are a lot of kids, why shouldn't you be able to buy beer here? as the only indoor outdoor sports complex in the area united sports training center at a popular spot and now the owners want to be able to sell beer and they need a township's err per mig to do it. but some here in west bradford say they aren't too happy about it. they say the fields are often packed with kids playing sports. >> you have problems with parents that, you know, holler

at the referees and stuff like that. as bad as it is. throw alcohol in the mick and it will get worse. >> if the adults want to have alcohol, let them go support the local diners, you know or local bars or local taverns. it's not here. >> reporter: john wack with eastern sports management a company that run this facility and two others like it in virginia that do sell beer. he claims in 10 years there in virginia, there haven't been any problem related to the sale of alcohol. >> in youth sports in this country people get heated without alcohol and we have had to manage those situations. there was no no alcohol involv involved. >> wack argues he isn't looking to start bar but rather he wants to cater to adults who primarily play in sports leagues are looking to grab a beer after the game. he says he has two children who play sports in the facilities in virginia. >> i've seen how the service of beer can be managed in a facility like this for the safety of everybody.

>> reporter: wack says he has no intention of trying to sell hard alcohol or wine. just beer only. in any case, there was no vote tonight as this evening's hearing has been continued until next month. reporting live tonight in west bradford township, chester county, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> todd, thank you. a distraught family beg the driver involved in a deadly crash to turn themselves in to authorities. police say that driver cut off lisa dimeo in the southbound lanes of 95 in bensalem. she swerved her vehicle, hit a guardrail and flipped multiple times. her husband was on the phone with his wife at the time of the crash. >> i heard her scream. and i was -- i was yelling on the phone until someone could hear me. >> i heard daddy yelling and i got really scared. >> right now police are looking for a late '90's or early 2,000 model black sedan they believe

played a role in that crash. >> tonight we can give you a look inside of an american air appliance jet that made an emergency landing when the plane's interior began to buck buckle. monday's flight from san francisco to dallas was uneventful. until several of the plane's interior panels snapped out and became opinioned to the window seats you can see the exposed insulation there. it did turn out to be just a cosmetic problem but still the pilot returned to san francisco as a precaution. >> all of a sudden i heard this loud pop, pop, pop, pop, really loud and a ripping sound. we were all shouting for the flight crew, come look. the walls are caving in. >> no one on bore the 757 was injured. american says that a duct between the panel and the metal skin of the aircraft failed and that forced those panels loose. well, now a shocking crime in wayne county, pennsylvania, where a 10 year old boy is accused of killing a 90 year old woman. tristan core little low admits they approached that woman from

behind with a cane and hooked it around her throat. then punched her several times. the woman died of blunt force trauma. the vick testimony was taking care of his grandfather the boy has said that he lost his temper when she yell at him. he is now been charged an adult with criminal homicide. >> president obama meets with his military commanders and defense chiefs from more than 20 countries participating in the fight against isis. today's meeting focused on military strategies and ways to boost the campaign against the terror group. the international community has been pushing the turkish government to play larger role in the fight in neighboring syria and iraq. president obama says this will be a long-term campaign. >> a teacher from new jersey uses her hard work and her heart in the fight against ebola. next, see what she's doing on the front lines in west africa. >> also, lost in a ravine for almost 24 hours after simply being pointed in the wrong

we'll stay on top of this story throughout the next half hour and of course online at cbsphilly.com. but in the meantime if you have any information on her whereabouts, you're asked to call 911 immediately. >> a new jersey teacher is in west africa educating liberians about ebola and right now she's performing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. katie miler of somerset county, new jersey runs a school for girls in west point neighborhood. once ebola struck and classes stopped she turned her school in an out reach center. she goes door door find infected people and gets them help. miler believes that is the only way ebola will be stopped and she says she's getting results. >> i'm overjoyed to hear all the family is doing better now. i'm so grateful where so many people are dying. >> she also sends mobile phones to patient who's are isolated so they can stay in contact with their families. in california, a dramatic

helicopter rescue. the coast guard saved a woman trapped in her car for nearly 24 hours. she ran off the road and into a ravine san jose fair fighters propelled down to ravine, administered her first aid bundled up her on the stretcher and went on the chopper. police had trouble finding the car when they got a bad location from on star. a police officer used a find my e phone app, guessed her password and located the area where that car went off the road. >> caught on video in costa rica a volcanic eruptions. camera recorded two big explosions. debris from the eruption reached a quarter mile away. tourists are being kept away from the volcano which is in a national park. >> new jersey governor and potential presidential contender chris christie appears to be popular around the country, but his support is dwindling in the garden state. governor christie campaigned in maine for fellow governor paula page today part of his role as

chairman of the republican governors association. governor has 42% favorable rating in the latest poll from rutgers eagleton. and that is the lowest rating he's ever recorded in that poll. governor chris thome run for president but he definitely will not run for the us senate. he told a gathering of the naacp that he would rather die than be in the senate. well just a matter of hours from now the city of camden, new jersey, will once again have a grocery store. price rite held its grand opening on the 2800 block of mt. ephraim avenue today. residents say they're excited to have another place to get fresh fruits and 57 also a. camden's last remaining grocery store which was also a pathmark closed its doors last year. this store is owned by the rabbits family market which plans to open a shop rite at 17th and admiral wilson boulevard in 2016. >> it's the become cher perfect way to purchase everything from

of rain. mainly late tomorrow into early thursday. that's the timeline we're talking about. tomorrow morning no weather issues if you want to get out early take a run, walk the dog, no problem whatsoever. outside right now, a little muggy and it's mild. you can see that old inquirer clock tower there still looking majestic in center city philadelphia. we'll take you down the shore where we have foggy and muggy conditions also some breezy conditions this in ocean city, cape may county. on storm scan3 the rain is coming. it's just taking its old sweet time. last night at this hour we were talking about the rain over the midwest in chicago and now it's slowly moving into the keystone state. but more numerous showers are expected late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. here's the line associated with a cold front that will be moving through early thursday and really bust the heat that we've seen over the past several hou hours. right now still mild across the region. temperatures fairly uniform. mainly around 70. in the poconos sitting at 65 degrees. to the north and the west, look at buffalo.

74 degrees. cleveland at 58. the cool air to the west and that will hold off until the weekend but still mild to the south so these southerly winds actually warping us a little bit overnight. temperatures peaking well into the 70s again for wednesday. the last real warm day and then the rain moves in during the afternoon. here's the culprit, a cold front leading edge of cooler and drier air. that wreaked havoc out to the west with severe weather by the time we see it, it means rain and it means wind. and the wake of it thursday afternoon breezy conditions will persist as our storm pulls away and friday looking pretty decent with partly sunny skies and temperatures back into the 70s. future weather shows a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy sky overnight. 8am no weather worries perhaps few showers in the poconos. most of the action through central pa through state college and then it begins to move through during the day on wednesday. spotty showers becoming more numerous as the evening wears on. may see a few breaks during the nighttime hours overnight more rain moves through. this is thursday morning.

so during the commute really drying out and clearing out. that's got news thursday morning. here's a look at the storm threats as we work our way from wednesday late afternoon into thursday morning. downpours, lightning with thunderstorms and winds moderate risk but we're looking at hail and tornadoes being at a low risk so that's the good news with our next storm building in. here's the bottom line. showers moving in basically after 3:00 o'clock. most areas seeing up to an inch of rain. well to the north and west we could see one perhaps to 2-inches of rain. a possibility of thunderstorms and the wind gust to go at least 30 miles an hour. want to tell you about hurricane gonzalo right now this is a strong category three storm. we're talking about a maximum wind at 125 miles an hour around this time every year historically there's a little peak in the hurricane activity and here we go with this storm and it is going to take a turn toward the northeast and come very close or cross over the island of bermuda as a major hurricane.

this would be some time friday afternoon which is devastating news obviously for the island. continue to keep you updated oh and that particular storm. overnight we're talking about cloudy and breezy conditions. winds already gusting 20 to 25 miles an hour. perhaps a stray shower far to the north and west. the low temperature 64. during the morning hours, looking at those winds in allentown and wilmington and philadelphia gust to go 26, 27 miles an hour. some higher gusts down the shore and these winds will persist during the day on wednesday. wednesday afternoon, still gusty winds, the showers move in temperatures in the 70s. really the showers more of a nuisance at the start but the heavy rain moves in late wednesday. it ends thursday morning. thursday will be cool little bit breezy and then look at this major cool down over the weeke weekend. saturday 69. not so bad. sunday 62. monday 62. tuesday 61. and some spots highs only in the 50s. want to remind that you you can get an updated forecast any time

trenton as police say five year old jania davis has been found tonight. it's very good news. as we told you earlier in the broadcast she was in a tan ford escape in trenton when it was carjacked around 8:00 o'clock tonight. that led to the amber alert being issued a little bit before news timer at 11:00 o'clock. but again the reports out of trenton at this hour the amber alert has been cancel. jania davis has been found. we don't know the circumstances surrounding her recovery, but we're working the facts of those stories. we'll bring updates as we can here on "eyewitness news" at 11:00 o'clock and of course overnight online at cbsphilly.com. the amber alert is canceled. ja inform ia davis has been found.
