say a woman spotted frein near his old high school friday night and they do believe this is a highly credible lead in this on-going investigation. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan is live with new developments. cleve? >> reporter: natasha, it has been more than a month for the trail is far from cold much this new siting close to where he spent his teenaged years could be a sign that frein is running out of places to hide. >> nobody is going to stop until we find this individual and he's apprehended. >> reporter: governor corbett confirming the resolve is as strong as ever to find accused trooper killer eric frein. the search has a new targeted area after a walker had a face to face encounter with a man friday night that authorities believe is frein. >> it was reported in the area of the pocono mountain east high school. the individual's description was consistent with frein and he was observed carrying a rifle. >> reporter: police say the man came within 20 feet of the witness and even though his face was covered in mud, they believe this is a credible spotting. frein would be in familiar territory he attend pocono

mountain east high school and had several jobs in the area. >> i think we've kept a tremendous am of pressure on him and i think likely had some bearing on where he's at now. if assuming that it is him. >> reporter: police say on september 12th 14 ambush two troopers at the blooming grove barrack fatal the shooting corporal brian dixon and wounding trooper alex douglas. investigators believe free has been collecting food to survive by breaking into cabins in a ban daned houses. right now they're awaiting lab results after two reports this week of blood on residents' back porches. police say time is on their side with colder weather a much bigger burden on frein than law enforcement and when the leaves drop, it will help aerial surveillance. >> everybody has one mission and that one mission is to apprehend this individual. >> reporter: police are hopeful they'll catch him before halloween. they are talking with local towns about doing events like trunk or treat to increase safety. reporting life cleve bryan, cbs-3 oy witness news. >> developing at this hour, police say they have found human

remains that could be those of missing university of virginia student hannah graham. it's heartbreaking news for her family. cbs news correspondent chris van cleve picks up the story. >> reporter: searchers found human remains just before noon saturday on abandoned property about 8 miles south of the shore lotsville campus. police believe they are those of 18 year old hannah graham whose been missing for more than a month. >> thousands of hours have been spent by literally hundreds of law enforcement and civilian volunteers in an effort to find hannah. we think perhaps today proved their worth. >> reporter: the university of virginia sophomore disappeared in the early hours of septembe september 13th after a night out with friends. graham was last seen on surveillance video with 32 year old jesse matthew, jr., a local taxi cab driver. matthew turned himself in when he was named a person of interest then fled. he was arrested september 24th in galveston, texas he's charged with abduction with intent to

defile or sexually assault. >> graham's parents issued a plea for her short return shortly after she is disappear disappeared. >> please, please, please help end this nightmare for all of us. >> thousands of searchers scowered the woods near the charlottesville campus on foot horseback and even used a drone to cover about a 200 square mile area. the remains will be taken to richmond for examination. autopsy and official identification. chris van cleve, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> now to the very latest on the ebola scare. tonight president obama is urging americans to remain calm. the cdc will soon issue new protocols for the personal protection gear worn by health care workers treating patients with ebola. memorial service was held for thomas duncan in north carolina today. the liberian native had the first case of e bella diagnosed in the us. and the cdc says they are monitoring about for hundred people for symptoms nationwide

following the infection of two nurses who treated duncan in dallas. >> it's a critical weekend, because we feel like if we get to monday, um, we've got -- we're in much better probable place. >> well also officials say the dallas health worker quarantined on a carnival cruise ship is not showing any ebola symptoms. that worker may have handled duncan's lab samples. hurricane gonzalo moves on but leaves a mark on bermuda. fall license trees, torn down power lines and shut down roads. fortunately, there have been no deaths or serious injuries reported. and now to the pacific ocean you are hin anna causing nasty weather in hawaii. waves are expected to crest at 10 to 15 feet on both the north and south shores of the islands. rain is falling in some areas at a rate of two to 3-inches per hour. meteorologist justin drabick has more on those hurricanes for us plus the big drop in temperatures here in this area. i already felt the chill earlier, justin.

>> yeah, we are feeling it out here on the sky deck as well. that wind continues out of the west to normal west. let's talk about the tropics. the good news they'll be weakening over the next few days. gonzalo still pretty strong at 90 miles per hour. it's rapidly moving to the northeast at 39 miles per hour. passing off the coast of newfinland overnight. it will continue to weaken over the next two tower 48 hours as it moves into the colder waters of the north atlantic. here is anna winds at 80 miles per hour. again, the center of the storm stays to the south of the haiyan islands you can still see a lot of cloud cover, and heavy rains impacting definitely kuaw. oahu right now and rough surf on the south end of the south shores of the islands. big change in the temperatures back home. low mid 50's right now. not cold just yet but that wind continues to kick up. that make it feel chilly at times. 51 in willow grove. 52 pottstown. 56 in mt. holly. storm scan3 we're dry. just some passing clouds coming

"eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson shows us how a community is making sure that amber long is not forgotten. >> reporter: long after we all stopped watching, stephanie kept fighting. >> she was a wonderful, wonderful person. she was the kind of person we cannot afford to lose report roar it's been 10 months sin the

murder of amber long the 26 your old architect just walking with her mom purse snatched and shot on a side street in northern liberties. 10 months despite citywide man hunts, reward and surveillance of the crime, the shooter still out there. >> it was absolutely senseless. it was a tragedy. >> reporter: saturday a run inspired by amber's death created by people fed up with violent crime against women aiming to increase the reward for an arrest. >> what's to say that this guy isn't out there still doing it? and it is so, so important that he be caught. >> reporter: amber was shot here the nine hadn't dread block of front street at point blank range just feet away from her mother. her mother would end up holding amber until she died. organizers say they wanted to start the race here, stephanie says, that was just too much. instead men and women from all backgrounds gathered for 5k on

another seaside street in honor of a mother who will never stop fighting a daughter who will never stop inspiring. >> amber would never understand if i just collapsed and -- that was not her. you know, if it had been on the pavement that night she'd be out here doing this. >> reporter: in known liberties, steve patterson cbs 3 "eyewitness news". >> the 22 year old man was killed the shooting happened at eighth and hunting park just before 11:00 o'clock friday night. detectives are reviewing surveillance video from neighboring businesses. but still no word on what sparked the shooting. a philadelphia special education teacher is continuing the search this weekend for her beloved dog that was stolen along with her car. jj pierce and her friends gathered at hawthorn park in south philadelphia to begin their search for louie. pierce made a quick stop at the home depot on columbus boulevard last week and left her labrador in the car.

when she came out the car and the two year old dog were gone. >> this turn out is incredible. i can't believe this many people are willing to help find him. >> there's good people in philadelphia. >> i have no lost faith in philadelphia. >> police recovered her car but unfortunately louie was not inside. pierce is now offering a three his san dollars reward for any information that brings louie home. stay with us everyone. tragedy in western pennsylvania. a young couple rushes in to save their children after their home goes up in flames. only one person made it out alive. we've got the very sad details behind this story. plus, the two people sleeping in this hotel room got a very unpleasant wake up call. why authorities say the driver lost control. >> straight ahead in sports did the flyers win their first game of the season? lesley has

>> knew the at 11:00 fire claims the lives of six people in western pennsylvania. a he in mckies port was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene today. the fire left keith with burns over his -- half of his body. his wife wheelchair bound father and a woman's four young children were all killed. relatives say he tried to save his family. >> kids were in i guess the back bedroom and, um, when it caught fire they couldn't get them out in time. i wish somebody were say it's a nightmare and wake me up but obviously it's not.

>> investigators are working to try to determine what sparked this deadly fire. now this isn't the wake up call that hotel guests had in mind here. a car crashed in a first floor room at the country inn in sweets in us wisconsin. to people were inside at the time. but they were not hurt. the driver also escaped serious injuries as well. other hotel guests had to be evacuated and moved to other rooms. police believe the driver fell asleep at the wheel. >> syrian activists at least eight people died after u.s. led air strikes continue in the fight against isis. the very latest strike target add gas distribution station near the syrian border town of kobani. but officials say those killed were mostly fuel tank drivers. between friday and saturday, the us military carried out 15 total air strikes in syria. meantime, family and friends gathered at a new hampshire church to remember the life of journalist james foley a video showed his killing at the hands of isis militants in august.

today would have been foley's 41st birthday. >> new developments in the case of michael brown. the ferguson, missouri teenager shot and killed by a police officer. the new york times roars tests show brown's blood was found on the gun the uniform and inside officer darrin wilson's police car. the times also gives wilson's side of the story. the officer reportedly told investigator that is he was trying to get out of his car when brown shoved him back inside hit him and tried to get his gun. brown's family calls the officer's account self-serving. the teenager's killing has spark weeks and weeks of protests and racial unrest in ferguson. and catholic bishops scrap their landmark welcome to gays and catholics who are divorced and, and remarried. the move shows deep division that the end of a two-week meeting thought by pope francis to charge merciful approach to ministering to catholic famili families.

72 degrees officially at the airport. 73 wilmington. 60 in mount pocono. low 70s in south jersey and delaware. just a great mid october day. now the winds have kicked up out of the west to northwest sustain about 10 to 15 miles per hour. that's going start to bring in some colder air. not terribly cold just yet but the wind does make it feel chilly mid 50s currently over most locations. we have the wind off through the delaware valley mixing up atmosphere no particular spot that's really cold right now. off to the north and west though we're talking about mid 40s in cleveland and buffalo. that core of coldest air will continue to rotate into the mid atlantic and northeast over the next 12 to 24 hours. storm scan3 is pretty quiet for the delaware valley clear skies especially in south jersey and delaware. few more clouds north and west of the city. thicker cloud cover over central pennsylvania upper level disturbance in the jet stream that's moving through. that's also reinforcing the cold air. we did have a cold front move through our region earlier today

that kicked up the winds. now we're dealing with one of the coolest air masses we've seen this fall season arriving tomorrow and certainly tomorrow night and check this out. freeze watch will go in effect for 3am monday morning for the poconos. so tomorrow night temperatures up there at or below freezing. it looks like we'll be seeing widespread 30s across the delaware valley tomorrow night. there's that dip in the jet stream. that core of the cold air spills into you are area tomorrow. it settles right on top of us. high temperatures a good 10 degrees below average. then the jet flattens out for the middle of the week that means milder temperatures return but then by the end of the week we're seeing another trough develop the cold pocket of air moves through that will be a storm system that also brings some showers to our forecast and it will ab slow moving system as well. lot of foal foliage to check out right now actually past peak up in northern new england but closer to home in the peck notice looks like we're peaking right now. so tomorrow is a good day to check out some of that fall color if you want to.

even around the philadelphia area starting to see moderate color. in the suburbs even to the south in delaware and southern new jersey. now tomorrow morning waking up to some cloud cover initially but we'll clear out nicely. windy threw the day and much colder with temperatures in the 50s. some sunshine to start off your monday. then we're back to clouds moving on in. here come those showers that's the initial storm system moving on in tuesday it look like we'll be dealing with a period of some wet weather through the middle of the week. tomorrow's highs struggle to get into the mid 50s. it will be stuck in the fours in the mountains. certainly tomorrow night it will be cold in the 30s. monday starts warming up a little bit but still below average. we'll get to about 60 degrees for the afternoon high. it's breezy and chilly overnight for center city. 48. little bit cooler in the subur suburbs. tomorrow breezy colder mostly sunny with high of 56 degrees. here's the extended forecast. some sunshine around monday early in the day. high near 60. back into the mid 60s tuesday. but some showers arrive and it look like shower chances continue for wednesday and thursday.

>> the flyers one of three teams without a winton note they started a three game road trip in dallas and this one with a wild finish. the orange and black trailed four-two going into the third period. andrew mcdonnell slap shot on the power play finds the net. four-three. later on we have nick schultz with the shot. jake vorachek with the rebound and the flyers tie the game. that did not last long. 41 seconds later jason says is a knock the rebound past mason.

the stars regain the lead. the flyers say uh-uh. the score is tied again. okay here we go into overtime but this time it's up to the captain. one timer lights the lamp the four game losing streak is over. the flyers win this one, six to five. >> well the eagles on the bye they return to work on tuesday, and start preparing for the carnal next sunday in arizona. tomorrow the birds will most likely be watching this game, the nfc east battle between dallas and new york. the cowboys last week went to seattle and beat the seahawks tying with the eagles for first place and we all know what happened to the g men sunday at the linc. >> we responded well to the losses we've had and when we've had a tough game this year and you know we know we got to play better than we did, and we got to figure out how to move the ball and more successful and stop having the mistakes that hurt us last week. >> we understand this is an important game for them, and, you know, we know that every division game will be tough, and they'll come out and playfully
