>> ♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> right now on "eyewitness news" a typically quiet town, the scene of a brutal crime. police in bucks county are investigating a deadly beating that happened across the street from a church. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks for joining us. police brought two men in for questioning, they're searching for possibly one more person.

the beating happened near the intersection of post road and pennsylvania avenue in morrisville. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live at the scene with the details. steve. >> reporter: natasha, good evening. police are saying that this is a targeted incident that all of the men involved in this incident knew each other and may have been friends and now they're saying that this may have been an argument that turned into murder. it didn't happen in the woods or an alley or at home. it happened on this street in broad daylight across from a church. murder in suburban bucks county. >> obviously they used something on him. his head was caved badly. >> reporter: the morrisville police say the man in his 30's was beaten to death with an object sometime sunday morning around 8:30 at the corner of post road and ohio. police recovered a screwdriver they say was used to stab the victim but believe the beating is what caused death. mcclay says a witness saw part of the beating in progress and called police.

>> we get here very quickly. and my officers were able to apprehend two of the people. >> reporter: police say those two men are being questioned while they search for a possible third. investigators believe the victim was riding with the suspects in this white van and the attack was premeditated. >> this is personal. this is isn't a random act. >> it's a quiet neighborhood. >> reporter: what's often a cliche with neighbors near crime the chief says here it's justified. >> this is the only homicide this year for the year. >> reporter: now lab work based on leg work, question the suspect, process surveillance video from the church, get a warrant for the van. charges expected before monday morning. >> i'll be very surprised that it's just not something really stupid that they killed this poor guy over. >> reporter: and the search for a third suspect continues. meanwhile i just spoke to the chief. he says that van comes from trenton, new jersey, and what ended in this commuter likely didn't start here. reporting live from bucks county, i'm steve patterson,

cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you, steve. now turning to our weather this evening. talk about a change here. the winds of change blowing through. a chilly sunday afternoon. the flags along the ben franklin parkway are whipping today and tonight temperatures are really going to dip. meteorologist justin drabick is lie on the cbs3 sky deck with the first forecast. justin, i brought out the big coat today. >> you knew it was coming, natasha. here we are moving into the middle of october so actually today we were talking about temperatures typical for november. it's a nice night right now but it is getting cold but check out the highs today. a good 10 degrees below average. couldn't get out of the mid-50's. 56 degrees for philadelphia, wilmington, mid-50's reading, 53 for the high in allentown and the poconos stuck in the 40's. still some brisk winds coming out of the northwest sustained at about 10 to 15 miles per hour with higher gusts. they'll eventually diminish through overnight hours. current temperatures right now 54 at the airport, 50 in allentown, low 50's in south jersey. the winds still kind of mixing up the air little bit so no

spot really cold just yet but as the winds calm down temperatures will drop quickly. upper 40's in quakertown and willow grove. we're clear on storm scan3. so with the lighter winds overnight and clear skies we're talking about frost and freeze potential. areas in purple including the lehigh valley poconos and interior south jersey that's a freeze warning that will go into effect. areas in blue potential for some frost early tomorrow morning. so the forecast low tonight 40 degrees for center city, a record low is 27. if we do hit 40 you'll be talking about the coldest night since april 21st of 2014. coming up in the full forecast we'll talk about how long these frost and freeze conditions continue. track the threat for rain with the new cbsphilly weather app available for iphone and android. you can check it out and also download it on the google play store and in itunes. we'll have that seven-day forecast coming up in two

minutes. natasha. >> justin we'll see you soon. thank you. hours before the start of a busy football sunday a delaware county chickie's and pete's is robbed at gun point. police are looking through surveillance video trying to track down the suspects involved. "eyewitness news" reporter noel mclaren joins us live with terrifying details about this story. >> reporter: natasha, as you mentioned police are currently combing through surveillance video. we also obtained to try and track down these two gunmen. in the meantime business is as usual right here at that popular sports bar. if you came for football crab fries here at the drexel hill chickie's and pete's you wouldn't guess a couple hours ago several staff members were held up at gun point. >> perfectly normal as if nothing happened. investigating police say two armed gunmen entered the side door of the restaurant just before 10 o'clock this morning. they demand money. police say they stole

thousands of dollars and night receipts from safe, then locked her along with three other employees in the restaurant freezer. then they got away. a kitchen manager showed up shortly after and found the four shaken but unharmed. >> we're absolutely blessed nobody was hurt, nobody was injured. that's the important thing. >> reporter: and that general manager continued to tell us that some of the employees who were involved in that horrific incident decided to still come to work despite that ordeal. we'll bring you more details on later editions of our newscast. but for now we're live in drexel hill, noel mclaren cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> the 21 day quarantine it ends tonight for family and medical professionals who were the first to come into contact with thomas eric duncan, the first man in the u.s. to die from ebola. none appear to be infected with the virus. meantime the carnival magic cruise ship returned to texas this morning with the hospital employee who handled duncan's specimens. she put herself in isolation

while on board but did test negative for the virus. the pentagon has joined in the effort a newly reindicated military medical team will be deployed anywhere in the where you say ebola is suspected. officials say their goal is to inform the public without scaring them. >> nothing is completely risk free. and that's with people -- what people need to understand but the relative risk of things people need to understand is very, very small. >> the world health organization puts the death toll from the outbreak at more than 4500, most victims lived in liberia, sierra leone and guinea. a pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by a car in burlington county new jersey. it happened about 6:30 this morning at route 130 and chester avenue in delran. police are investigating but so far no charges have been filed. also police rush a shooting victim to the hospital but he could not be saved. the 33-year-old man had been shot in the eye, the neck and

the chest. it happened just before midnight at west girard avenue and north 38th street in west philly. it's unclear who fired the shots or why. and fire marshals are investigating a blaze that sent six people to the hospital overnight. it started in this two-story house at north seventh street and west nedro avenue in philadelphia's olney neighborhood. once on the scene crews had the situation under control within about a half hour. no word on the condition of the victims. and the healing process, it does continue in a philadelphia community that was devastated by a deadly fire three months ago. four children lost their lives and more than a dozen homes were destroyed in the guess interstreet fire last july. this morning the first baptist chump of pascal presented a check to two families who lost their homes in that blaze. the money will be used to help them relocate or rebuild. >> ♪ a dramatic rescue all of it is captured on tape. a man is trapped inside a home consumed by flames until

>> welcome back. police investigating the disappearance of university of virginia students hannah graham are combing area where searchers found humans remains. investigators interviewed residents in this area. it is not been confirmed that the remains are those of graham but police did notify her parents of the discovery. graham disappeared september 13th. jessie matthew can is charged with her abduction. a pumpkin festival turns to mayhem in a new hampshire college town. police in riot gear used tear gas in an effort to control the crowds in the streets around keen state college. officers arrested more than a dozen people. the parties around the school coincided with the annual community pumpkin festival. many students spent day cleaning up that mess. a driver pulls over outside of a burning home and is the first to call 911. >> everybody out of there? >> my dad is in there.

could you get him out, please. >> moments later, a neighbor runs out, there you see him with the man in his arms. officials in fresno, california say the man was still hooked up to an oxygen tank when he was found. he was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. really brave move there by that neighbor. also people from all over gathered in philadelphia today, every year the city provides a backdrop for a very special event to help those suffering from aids. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhury takes us for a walk with a few of those determined champions. >> reporter: with each step thousands are helping in the fight against hiv/aids. the 28th annual aids walk philly kicked off at the steps of the art museum sunday morning. 10,000 people participated in the 5k raising awareness and funds. the event was previous al 12k. >> we've made the route shorter, it's a 5k so it's a little shorter, fewer steps for greater impact. >> reporter: some

participants walked to honor a loved one who died from the disease. >> my brother and his partner both died of aids in 1996, so for the first 10 years, we walked together and now my family walks in memory of them. >> reporter: several organizations benefit from the event including the aids law project which provides legal help to those affected. >> somebody's fired from a job, denied access to healthcare, the neighbor's kids won't play with my kidsism organizers have been getting the youth involved. that's because statistics show 60 percent of those living with hiv between the ages of 13 and 24 don't even know they have it. >> definitely stigma and misinformation plays a huge role in it. >> reporter: organizers say the event will bring in about $300,000 and that money will be split between different organizations that help with prevention, education and medical care in our area. at the art museum, syma chowdhury, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> and a big turnout to support another great cause in

new jersey this morning t the lauren rose albert foundation hosted their fourth annual mothers matter 5k at washington lake park in sewell. the mothers matter program benefits mothers in need all throughout south jersey such as those in cancer units and nursing homes. now we did speak to organizers and they say today's event raised about $45,000. >> well, temperatures are pretty good for a run today but the wind may have gave those runners a little bit of a problem but the winds will diminish tonight. then we're really talking about some cold temperatures. looks like some widespread 30's showing up in the suburbs but compare the temperatures now to this time yesterday we're anywhere from about five to 14 degrees colder as, yes, the coldest air of the fall season has arrived today with temperatures resembling more like november. here we are at 54 degrees currently in philadelphia, lower 50's in south jersey near the shore, 41 degrees in mount pocono. again, that wind still blowing around, kind of mixing up the air a little bit so we're in the seeing anything too cold

just yet but there's not a whole lot of cold air off to the north and west. it's a sign of a warming trend coming up in our forecast this week. we're at 50 right now in cleveland, 51 pittsburgh but with the clear skies over the delaware valley right now and the calmer winds tonight we'll be talking about that freeze and frost potential so through the overnight hours, areas there around philadelphia, freeze warning and frost advisories will go into affect. some spots could see temperatures drop down into the lower to 30's. this can kill drops if we see a hard freeze in some of the interior sections especially south jersey and up into the lehigh valley and poconos. there are the cloud free skies right now over much of central and eastern pennsylvania, all of new jersey and delaware. some high thin clouds off to our west. that's a sign our next storm system that will slowly move into our area and start impacting the region as far as early as tomorrow in the form of some clouds and then some wet weather does return to the reach to john tombs winds are out of the northwest but watch what happens over the next 12 hours or so, they switch direction. notice the arrows, that's a

southwest wind so that means some milder air will is it a of the to move back in slowly during the day monday. that southerly wind will continue on tuesday, so temperatures should return to near average as we head towards tuesday and the reason is the jet stream. right now we have the core of the coldest air over us but that jet kind of lifts out of here flattens out. you can see right over pennsylvania so we're back to near average for later on monday and tuesday as far as the temperatures go. but then another trough develops or a dip in the jet freezing mark. this jet is really active this week. that's going to slow down our next storm system and kind of stall it out over the midatlantic and there's another cold pocket of air that sits over the region wednesday, thursday, even into part of friday and we'll see the threat for some showers through the middle of the week. so let's time things out for you. overnight generally a clear sky, calmer winds, cold temperatures. tomorrow morning waking up mostly sunny conditions. some clouds will thicken up through the afternoon, skies will be partly sunny through the day. we'll keep things drive. as we head towards the overnight hours monday, say, after midnight we'll see the threat for a few showers arriving. this could impact morning

commute tuesday and more shower chances continue in the forecast through the day on tuesday and again it's a slow moving storm system so wednesday still the threat for more showers. i think wednesday's going to be the wettest day of the week. temperatures starting off in the 30's tomorrow outside the city and we'll rebound to about 60 degrees for the afternoon high. that's still below average. milder on tuesday pushing the mid possibly even upper 60's but we will see the threat for showers. so, it's clear overnight. areas of frost, low 40 for the city, 30's in the suburbs. still a cool day for this time of year on monday, partly sunny skies. we're up to about 60 degrees and here we go with the extended fork. goes downhill a little bit on tuesday. we'll see some showers around. they'll be scattered, highs in the mid 60's. wednesday still some showers around during the day and then even thursday that shower threat finally by the end of the week we see those temperatures returning closer to average, mid to upper 60's. that's a check on your eyewitness weather fork. we'll send it over to beasley. >> all right, the eagles with
