this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". oh, it might be tough to get out of bed this morning, we are waking up to the chilliest temperatures, so far this season, frost warnings, and advisories, are in effect. >> hope you have the heavy jacket ready. got to pull it out from the back of the closet? oh, yes. >> dust it off. >> carol had to do that this morning, she out there shivering on the cbs-3 skydeck. carol, good morning. >> i refuse to shiver and get into this. >> take that cold! >> ya, take that, cold. i'm not going to shiver in the presence of you. it is cold out here. we have temperatures in the

30's in a lot of locations this morning, couple of warmer spots, only in the lower 40's. we will be warming up today. let's see what we have at the present time outside. we find ourselves with storm scan3. showing few high clouds. now, those few high clouds might try to ride to the rescue, prevent any further drop on these temperatures, but i don't know. looks like it is starting to clear out little bit. so temperatures continue to drop all the way through sunrise, so even as cold as they look right now, this can he get even little lower. freeze warnings, the frost advisories, they run until 8:00 this morning. and we will be finding them in most locations. so, just watch for that. it is for the growing season, and plants, but of course, make sure that you factor in pets there, as well. also, your kids at the bus stop, keep them bundled: temperatures in the 30's, 33 in trenton, 38 wilmington, 42 in philadelphia, but look at quakertown, at 30 degrees now, pottstown, 32, mt. holly, 32 degrees. the cold air is definitely here. we've got temperatures today that will be warming up to

whitpain, mt. pleasant road. another accident out in haverford, to the next one, there haverford road just near eagle road. expect local detours there. over to some travel times, show you majors, see what they look like. schuylkill expressway still great eastbound side from the vine st. expressway into 95. about seven minute trip there. 422, looking good eastbound and everything look being great so far on the new jersey turnpike if you are headed southbound. erika, over to you. >> jess, thank you. we have breaking news right now in philadelphia's kensington section. police tell "eyewitness news" that 27 year old man was gunned down along the 1800 block of east ontario street overnight. the victim was shot in the head and back and pronounced dead at the hospital. police say the violence could have been much worse after stray bullets strike several homes in that area. >> we have projectiles gather within a few hours cents cents, and whoos also have numerous strike marks, people's doors and window frames. >> now, fortunately, no one else was hurt. there is no description of a

suspect at this time. police are checking surveillance video in the neighborhood. and new this morning, police in philadelphia are investigating two over night convenience store robberies. now the first happened at port richmond around 2:30 at the 7-eleven, 3100 block of aramingo avenue. investigators say, a man walked into the store with a handgun, and got away with about $60. no injuries were reported. and, less than two hours later, police in northeast philadelphia respond today this 7-eleven in holmesburg. according to investigators, an armed man walked into the store, wearing a hoodie, and bandana on his face. he demanded cash but only walked away with about $20. anyone with information on either armed robbery is asked to call philadelphia police. some local college students are targeted in a home invasion robbery. >> now, police are looking for two suspect who are considered armed and dangerous. for some students here in north philadelphia. police say a group of temple university students was tied up and then robbed at gunpoint during this home invasion last night in north philadelphia. if you take a look at the video, you can see the scene we're talking about this all happened 8:30 sunday night, all at off campus housing. in the 1900 block of north 18th street. police say two men with gunned enters the home, tied up six people inside, investigators say one of the students was also pistol whipped. the university sent out alert to temple university students about the incident and asked students to avoid the area. school officials are also asking anyone with information to call police. unfortunately, there is no detailed description of the suspects at this point. only that they are two men in their two's, one of them with facial hair, and wearing bucks county community college sweatshirt. now, medics were on scene last night, but we're told no one had to be taken to the hospital. it is also unclear this morning just how much these robbers got away with during this overnight robbery.

coming to you live from temple university, jan carabeo, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> some terrifying moments caught on tape for employees at popular delaware county sports bar. >> we have some surveillance video right here from chick he's and pete's in decks he will hill. police say two suspects entered that restaurant through a side door yesterday morning and then forced the manager to open the safe at gunpoint. then the suspects forced the woman and three other employees inside a freezer. >> the important thing is that everybody's physically okay. that's the important thing. nobody was hurt. you know, this type of stuff when it happens, you know, everybody on the road to recovery, hopefully. >> police say the suspects were in and out within minutes. they new exactly where to go. they hope surveillance video from nearby businesses offer more clues in this investigation. and happening today, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for a philadelphia firefighter and his girlfriends this morning. michael lawson face con spur

circumstances assault charges. pair accused of attacking lawson's ex-wife and current boyfriend twice last month. prosecutors say the ex-wife is eight months pregnant. also, philadelphia police officer kenneth allen also due in court this morning following accusations cents he violated a protection from abuse order. allen was first arrested october 3rd after police say he assaulted his girlfriend. she is also a philadelphia police officer. he was re arrests he is dollars two weeks later charged with violate the stay away order. the mandatory quarantine for those who had contact with the first ebola patient edges period at midnight. of course the day all of them waited for. twenty-one days later, the us ramming up its response to fight the spread of the disease here at home. susan macinnis has more. >> reporter: confinement over for the fiancee of thomas eric duncan, liberian man the first person diagnosed with ebola in the u.s. louise tro and they family members, now free, after being

kept unarmed guard in quarantine for 21 days. duncan was staying at tro's apartment when he first started showing symptoms of ebola. ebola is also no longer a threat for about 50 others who had some contact with duncan. >> been very difficult. you know, you have got this uncertainty, hanging over your head, about your own health, for some of them a loved one has either died or struggling to overcome the disease, and it has re instructed their movement. >> ramp up response to ebola. sunday pentagon announced special military support team to assist civilian medical staff here in the u.s. the cdc is also finalizing new safety protocols for healthcare workers. >> going to be much more stringent. >> in the sense of instructions about what you really need to do. >> reporter: new guidelines are expected to set firm standards, including full body suits, and hoods that protect workers neck, along with rigorous new rules for removal

we had few clouds that tried to limit some of the cooling. but now they've moved on. looking at clear skies, it is beautiful out here, but boy it is cold. 60 degrees in philadelphia for the high today. shore, 63, poconos, 52 degrees, in all location action, we start to pick up few more clouds as we move on into the afternoon hours. sun up at 7:17. temperatures up, 60 degrees, tonight we drop down, 48 through some of the outlying areas, 50 through center city, much milder overnight, than this morning, and our temperatures over the next couple every days, 66 tomorrow, maybe some showers, especially we move later in the day, i think, then wednesday maybe some on/off showers. thursday might see them again, 62 degrees, then after that it looks like we've got some sunshine head in the our direction, and comfortable fall temperatures in the 60s. but that's next weekend. never too early to think about that. >> never too early. looking forward to it, thank you, carol. good morning, going outside, check out our cameras on 95 at cottman avenue. so you can see a lot of break lights, very early start to this this morning, headed

we're clearing out sky wise, but i think we'll add few clouds later this afternoon, as temperatures get to six off in philadelphia, shore, 63, and the poconos, 52 degrees. let's see what's happening on these roads, at this point, with jessica. >> thank you, carol. good morning, everybody, we go outside, right now, get right to it. we have a loft jams on 95 approaching allegheny. so headed southbound, you can see toward the city, all break lights almost completely coming to stand still. taking out all of the lanes right there, northbound side at least moving along great there, as well. we head on over to new jersey, and check out 42, at creek road, starting to pack in just little bit on the northbound side. so possibly headed toward 295 or the surrounding area bridge, with the southbound side moving along great there, as well. now, wu go out check out the area bridges, see how they are doing. everything looking great head in the or out the city on the ben, the walt, the betsy ross bridge there, we head over, look at accident that we have in whitpain, mt. pleasant road between morris road and battleson road.

allowing temperatures to drop, may not have reached their lowest point. on their way to their lowest point, once we reach sunrise, temperatures will rebounds. 33 degrees in trenton, 32 in in atlantic city, 10 miles inland at the airport, 34 in allentown, 33 in the poconos, 38 degrees in wilmington, that 42 out at the airport in philadelphia, seems very warm, compared to the 32 in mt. holly and in the 32 in quakertown and pottstown this morning. the cold air definitely here, temperature change over the last 24 hours, 19 degrees coal nerve millville than we were yesterday morning. 10 degrees colder in the philadelphia area, and 15 degrees colder in allentown. so, big changes on these temperatures. now, as we do start to warm up, by noon, we're at 56 degrees, where our high was yesterday, so obviously miler day coming up. 60 degrees, sun, clouds, and not as cool

>> weekends, looks like we have temperatures until the 60s again. >> always delivering us some good news, thank you, carol. looking forward to the weekends. we go outside right now check out our cameras, 59 at cottman, delay, headed southbound, pretty much jammed from academy past this point at cottman avenue. so, just pretty much at construction, residual delays, due to rush hour. so headed southbound, we see most of the problems northbound still moving along great. we head over to the cameras at the blue route, where everything is moving along great there at mid-county. still the northbound lanes where the headlights are coming in, southbound lanes moving great there, as well. couple every accidents all across the board. we head over to the maps now montgomery county, welsh rd., route 63, and out in whitpain, another accident, been there for quite some time now, mt. pleasant road between morris road and battleson road trying to get it cleaned up and out of the way so you guys can get to work, where you got to go on time.

just like we said earlier, 959 southbound really heavy from woodhaven road into the vine st. expressway. about 26 minute trip. no problems currently on 202, or the pa turnpike, nicole, back to you. >> jess, thank you. two suspect held in connection with the beating death after man in suburban bucks county will be charged this morning. >> the attack happened sunday near the intersection of post road and pennsylvania avenue in morse ill ville. police say a 30 year old male victim was ride nag white van, with three others, when he was stabbed and beaten to death. neighbor witnessed the incident, and called 911. >> we get here very quickly. and my officers were able to apprehend two of the people. >> this is personal. this isn't a random act. they didn't just grab this guy off the street. police are continuing to search for a third suspect. authorities say this case was the only homicide to take place in that area so far this year. just horrifying experience for workers at delaware county chickie's and pete's, when two thieves target the popular sports bar. >> workers there were locked in a freezer.

"eyewitness news" reporter noel mcclaren has the surveillance video that shows how they pulled it off. >> police say the gunman new exactly where to go to rob thousands of dollars from chickie's and pete's crab house and sports bar in drexel hill. watch as two gunmen one dress in the what appears to be chickie's and pete's sweatshirt slip in the side door, barge into manager's offers. police say one hell her at gunpoint, demanding money from the safe, while the other takes three other prep staff members. same manager and locks them all in the freezer. investigators say the duo took off with thousands of dollars, and night receipts, but managers say they feel blessed, no was found seriously harmed. >> money means nothing. everybody's safe. that's the important thing. >> shortly after, staff was found by a kitchen manager, and released from the freezer. some even stayed to complete their shift. >> it shows that is great company, what we do on a daily basis, great employees, the best staff in all of delaware count.

members of the liberian national who died from ebola. >> the 21 day mandatory quarantine will ends for the family of thomas duncan. officials quarantined the family after the liberian national was diagnosissed when ebola. days later duncan became the first person to die from the disease in the u.s. >> been through terrible ordeal. you got people who are put in this ordeal through no fault of their own. and we're good at compassion in texas, and weep need to help these people. >> reporter: pentagon is reading new military medical team that will help contain ebola if there are any new cases. the team will include $5.20 critical car nurses trained in the infectious diseases. if needed they'll deploy anywhere in the u.s. within 72 hours. the pakistani teenage here survived a shooting at the hands of the taliban received the liberty medal tomorrow. >> will attend ceremony at the national constitution center.
