the backlash against mcdonald's new slogan that the fast food chain has. even officially launched yet. captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for thursday, october 30th, 2014. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. madison bumgarner pitches the san francisco giants into another world series title, their third since 2010. the big giants' lefty dominated the kansas city royals as san francisco beat the royals 3-2 in a dramatic game seven. the giants' win set off a wild and sometimes out of control celebration in san francisco. at least two people were shot, but they're expected to survive. there have been a handful of arrests as well. we'll have much more on the game coming up later in the broadcast. but now we go to the ebola crisis. in maine this morning a defiant

nurse will end her quarantine even though they want her to stay put. all state police could do is watch and monitor her movements. they can't physically detain her because the judge hasn't signed an order granting the state request to do so. omar villafranca reports. >> you know, you could hug me, you could shake my hand. there is no way that i would give you ebola. >> reporter: kaci hickox says she will not remain quarantined in her main home to wait out a three-week incubation period for ebola. the nurse who recently returned from west africa says she has tested negative and has no symptoms of the disease. >> there are things that we know work and all aid workers are willing to do those things, but i'm not willing to stand here and let my civil rights be violated. >> reporter: but state officials say there is reason for concern. >> there are other cases where individuals have not tested positive, did not believe that they were symptomatic, and

quickly developed symptoms while they were out in the public. >> reporter: at the white house president obama thanked health care workers who treat ebola patients and spoke out against aggressive restrictions upon their return. >> they make huge sacrifices to protect this country that we love. when they come home, they deserve to be treated properly, like the heroes that they are. >> reporter: according to a cbs news poll, 80% say americans returning from west africa should be quarantined upon arrival. omar villafranca, cbs news. coming up this morning we'll talk with a yale grad yacht student who worked in liberia and is now quarantined in connecticut. the slow-moving lava flow has been traveling toward a small village for months.

about 50 homes are in its path. some residents in the town of pahoa have taken what they own and have evacuated. >> reporter: there's still a flurry of activity as both officials and residents finalize their plan and recognize the possibility they may have to evacuate overnight, certainly within the next 24 hour. that's because the puna lava flow is 50 yards from this main street that runs through their neighborhood. we're told there are 10 to 15 homes that are in the immediate downslope projected path. officials are keeps a very close eye on how quickly the flow is moving right now. they're saying it's going about 10 yards per hour, which is why those residents and their neighbors have been told they do have to be able to leave at a moment's notice. we spoke with those residents, they say they're packed and ready but they want to stay in place for as long as they safely

can. we were inside several of the homes earlier today as invited guests. you can see for yourself, all of their furnishing, most of their belongings are gone. however, some have hopes that they can leash their mattresses on the floor and get sleep but hopefully they want to spend as much space in this time as they cannot knowing when they'll be returning or what they'll be coming back home to. >> it's hard to explain. i don't know. i don't know what to say or how to feel. it's a trip. it's a big trip. the impact is going to be severe. there's bumper-to-bumper traffic because this is happening. >> reporter: there are some outbreaks officials are closely monitoring. they hope to meet back together downslope and they thunk that could widen the wide mar jen, otherwise they're recognizing the possibility of impact within the next 24 hours.

bumgarner led the team to victory against the kansas city royals. >> i wasn't thinking about finishing the game or how many innings i was going to go. i can't lie to you anymore. i'm a little tired now. >> reporter: bumgarner pitched the final five innings on two days' rest. giving up two hits, he allowed one run in 36. his remarkable performance earned him the mvp award. this is the third world series win in five years for the giants. they're also the first team since 1979 to win the deciding game seven on the road. as the team celebrated in kansas city, giants fans in the bay area paved the streets in orange and black and erupted in applause at the park. for the kansas city royals fans, it was a season of surprises.

they made it to the world series for the first time in almost three decades. >> i don't think i've been as proud of anything in my life as i've been of this team. >> reporter: but in the end the giants were crowned champions. they'll celebrate with a victory parade in san francisco friday. adriana diaz, cbs news, kansas city. >> last night's game came down to the wire with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. a missed play in the outfield nearly ruined bumgarner's dominant performance. a hit by the royals' alex gordon was misplayed by greg or blanco. gordon made it all the way to third but he got the last time-out by breaking the hearts of the kansas city royals fans. the royals have not won the world series since 1985. this morning's "san francisco chronicle" says it all, reflecting how dominant the giants have been. the city will hold a victory parade for the giants tomorrow.

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. on the cbs "moneywatch," the end of the line for the bond buying program, and the questionable ingredient inside a popular whiskey. jill wagner is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, jill. good morning, anne-marie. the economy is better off. they announced the end of the economic stimulus plan put in place since the recession. the fed's bond holding has increased to more than $4 trillion. falling unemployment was the triger to end the program. the jobless rate was 8.1%.

it is now 5.9%. but it's not completely over. the fed said the short-term interest rate will stay near zero for a considerable period of time. here on wall street investors will be watching third quarter data and the unemployment for the last week. the dow lost 31 points wednesday. the s&p 500 was down 2. the nasdaq fell 15 points. the federal government is telling air bag maker takata to speed up making replacement parts. the national highway transportation safety administration sent a letter to the company who made the faulty air bags and told takata to do more testing, find the cause of the problem. a mobile pay service competing with apple pay suspends its activity. it's backed by walmart and other big retailers. it didn't give restrictions for members, accepting alternatives like apple pay. the company was also the target

of a hack attack. a small number of e-mail addresses were obtained in the breach but no other information was lost. many customers don't like the new mcdonald's slogan. "the wall street journal" reports in january the fast food chain will start using the slogan "lovin' beef hatton." the company's being swamped by online messages saying they hate the new slowgan. and fireball whiskey is being recalled in europe because of safety returns. they recalled the popular cinnamon flavored liquors because it involves ingredients used in antifreeze. it has high levels of fireball whiskeys says lit change its ingredient. eight men accused of running a major international gambling
