new at 6:00 o'clock our syma chowdhry is live in maryland, we will check in with her and, of course, you can get latest on this case anytime, including a closer look at the videotape of that person of interest. you can watch it over and over and share witt friends, all you have to do is go to the web site at cbs philly.com. police in the poconos found all kind of gear belonging to eric frein, the suspected trooper killer. search warrant documents list more than a hundred items recovered from the birchwood pocono air park hanger, those include a bolt action rifle, snipper rifle and loaded pistol. police found five magazines and 200 rounds of ammunition. frein also had maps, candles and survival gear. he is charge with killing one state trooper and seriously wounding a second outside blooming grove barracks in september. he surround toward u.s. marshals following a 48 day manhunt. police arrested two men after a gunfire exchange in collindale this morning.

tony gale and lemar james are facing miracle of charges stemming from that incident. police were serving a search warrant connect to the philadelphia shooting that took place on october 27th. during today's exchange an officer was hit in the hand after a bullet deflect off another police officer's helmet. >> we're lucky that only one received minor injuries and the other one had protective head gear so that when the bullet fired upon him, he was protected and the bulles could not penetrate the helmet. >> reporter: lemar james mother was also in the house and taken into custody but she has not been charged. crews are working to repair a water main break in grays ferry, philadelphia water department tells us that a 16-inch main broke at 26th and dick son. chopper there over that scene this afternoon. break left what you can see is a very long crack in the road there and part of the intersection and sidewalk continues to be covered in mud. there is no word on exactly

what cause that had main to break. well, clouds are rolling, in again, wet weather is on our doorstep. meteorologist kathy orr is outside on the cbs-3 sky deck, tracking the conditions there, kathy. >> you won't believe the range in temperature today, chris, believe it or not we made it in the 70's but now we're in the 60's because cold front is blowing in and rain is coming next. on storm scan three we are looking at clouds and here comes showers moving north and east there virginia to west virginia but cold front is moving through and chilly to the the north abe west and that cool air is invasion is already begun in philadelphia high temperature right before noon 72 degrees. that is 12 degrees above the the average high. look at where we are right now on the real cool side 61 in philadelphia. some 11 degrees cooler. fifty-one in will allentown and poconos. fifty-seven in reading and to the north and west and some 40's in western new york. that is what is, working its

as politicians on both sides of the aisle. he says he is looking forward to rolling up his sleeves and taking on his new role as governor. in manchester, natasha brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new jersey governor chris christie who leads the republican governor's association was among the big winners last night. he campaigned for dozens of candidates, and with his help the g.o.p. snagged governorship in traditional blue states like maryland, massachusetts and illinois. on cbs this morning governor christie says hard work paid off and he is looking forward to progress in a republican controlled senate. >> we need to get things done, charlie and put things on the president's desk and make the president make some decisions. harry reid has protect the president for the last number of years. any real tough issues have never made it to the president's desk because they went to the senate to die. i think that won't happen now. >> a lot of people believe the success could pave the way for governor christie to make that run for president in 2016 but he was asked about that this

ray rice was in court this afternoon, he is fight to go reverse his indefinite suspension by the league. >> "eyewitness news" sports director beasley easies in the sat center with more on today's hearing, beasley. >> two day hearing underway in new york to determine what the nfl knew about the elevator incident in which, ray rice punched his fiance in atlantic city, violation of the league's personal conduct policy. ray and yan it, judge barbara jones will determine if the commissioner's upgrade of rice's initial two game suspension to indefinite suspension amounts to nfl double jeopardy, a violation of article 46 of the collective bargaining agreement. rice and nfl players association seeking reinstatement and back pay beyond the initial two game punishment. the commissioner contend that the release of the elevator video was new information, and the reason for the the addition willal punishment.

well, an 85-foot tall tree from pennsylvania, will take center stage at rocker feller center in insuring this holiday season. the norway spruce from manville, pennsylvania was cut down this morning and hoisted on to a trailer for that

155-mile journey to the big apple. the the couple who donated the tree said they loved the christmas season and they are thrilled to be able to donate their tree. blink and you just might miss it, dash cam video from a police sergeant's patrol car in benwood west virginia captured this mysterious green object flying across the sky monday night. do you see it right there. it turns out, this object was a meteoro id a small stone or piece of debris that travels through space. hundreds of people across the eastern u from pennsylvania to georgia reported seeing the fireball. if you don't know what that is, it is a bit mysterious looking. >> yes, we talked bit monday night on "eyewitness news" at 11:00 there were over 200 reports and our chopper pilot saw it monday evening. they said what is this bright flash. >> apparently not an alien spaceship, we're sure about that. >> what did they tell us. >> no, thankfully, right. >> we're looking at a chilly

night across the the delaware valley, cold front moving through, changes are happening as we speak. take a look outside one of our cooler spots, poconos, jack frost big boulder, sun getting lower in the sky, the sun has set but it was a a very pretty day, and the temperatures were milder then you thought. our live neighborhood network takes to us chester springs west vincent elementary school will where the temperature right now is 55 degrees, not much wind, but we have had some warm temperatures, this morning, late morning, before that front moved through in the 60's and 70's through most of the delaware valley. now take a look at these numbers, around 11:30 we made it to 72 degrees in philadelphia by 1:00 it was in the 60's. sixty-four by 3:00. 59:00 o'clock temperature some 11 degrees cooler, average high being 60 for this time of the year. you will see when that front moves through that will cool air moved in quickly. sixty-one in philadelphia allentown, poconos, 51.

reading 57 to the west. we are looking at mainly 50's, minneapolis, and great lakes starting to see 40's in vein, invade rather and we will be seeing them rather overnight as well. on storm scam three showers along the front, area of low pressure will track the front just like a train on the track bringing us the wet weather. we are going to be seeing periods of rain with this area of low pressurees explosion in the morning, little bit of the wind but more rain and wind expected friday. temperatures in the 50's. once the front moves through it gets breezy, temperatures still in the 50's below average for this time of the year, saturday the not much change but at least the sun comes back out and that will show some improvement. now as far as what to expect for your thursday, period of rain, half an inch to an inch still looks good as far as the amount, heavier rain will be falling for the morning commute, and some periods of rain expected still for the afternoon. overnight the rain moves in, i think by 11:00 p.m. our western suburbs will be seeing some showers and then overnight for rest of us, row of 49.

news right now out of delaware county. haverford high school football coach joe gallagher was charge with dui, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident this weekend. gallagher was reportedly involved in a hit and run crash in prospect park on saturday. school officials have released a statement that reads in part joe gallagher has taken a leave of absence for personal reasons. he has been the the coach, the head football coach at haverford for 23 years. a fight is brewing in one shore town over sand dunes. as our carol erickson tells us residents in margate voted by just a small margin for a court battle with the state to try to stop that dune construction. >> reporter: big old loose i has her eye on competition an elephant in the corner in margate, a proposed dune project, and possible lawsuit against it on the town's mile long beach. new jersey demands that margate be part of the protective and massive coastal dune system one as tall as

cbs-3 "eyewitness news". president obama talking about the midterm elections and how they will impact his final two years in office. of course, republicans took control of the senate last night and increased their majority in the house. cbs news correspondent craig boswell has more. >> reporter: for the the first time since president obama a took office he will face a congress with republicans in control of both houses. >> so to everyone who voted i want you to know i hear you. to the two thirds of voters who chose not to participate 2349 process yesterday, i hear to. >> reporter: g.o.p. picked up at least seven senate seats from democrats and added at least ten seats in the house of representatives. >> obviously republicans had a good night and they deserve credit for running good campaigns. >> reporter: the president phoned senator mitch mcconnell who is positioned to be the new senate majority leader. >> the american people have spoken. they have given us divided government.

new jersey. big rally included the band, cheerleaders and students. students are encouraged to speak up on bullying instead of being bystanders. stump out bullying is a national bullying prevention organization. many children spend time on a computer for school and fun but dangers can lurk behind the click of the button. today more than 100 social workers and school aids gathered in south jersey to learn more about the growing threat of cyber bullies. david madden of our sister station kyw news radio has details. >> reporter: theme of this conference at rowan college in gloucester county is keeping kids, safe on line, giving option as veilable to kids these days. >> there is a lot of talk today about bullying, on line predators, a a lot of useful information about, children think that because it is a in must. >> reporter: home land security officials spoke of a culture existing in, chat rooms. and, new friend may not be a friend but a predator.

the right-hand shoulder and part of that right-hand lane, been out there quite sometime. mostly has been cleaned up. is there residual delay due to that and a combination of typical volume, for an afternoon commute. also, on the schuylkill expressway at conshohocken, everything is moving along pretty much typically. we would normally see at this time headed east bound towards the city, slow go there and brake lights westbound towards king of prussia area as well. an accident on the roosevelt boulevard southbound at rhawn street taking out the lane, on the inner drive and also in south philadelphia 29th street closed due to a water main break at tasker street. your alternate to get around that just take 27th street, chris and yes, sir contact back to you. volunteers jump into action to help stranded whales in new seal land. >> they guided 21 pilot whales back into opened water in the eastern bay of plenty, officials there say that mass stranding began on monday after a sick whale beached itself. about 35 other whales did not survive this. so far, the rescued whales have managed to stay out in the water.
