good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee, good morning. i was just able to speak to the family of carlesha gaither. they say they are relieved that she's back home safe and sound. they a say in one has been able to sleep yet but car leash ace looking forward to the good night's sleep. we were there in maryland as her and her family were leaving the hospital after she was treated for minor injuries. she was in good condition last night and she's in good condition right now. this is carlesha leaving the hospital, in the meantime, the man police say is responsible for her kidnapping this 22-year old woman is lock um this morning. thinks 37 year-old delven barnes. police say he and gater were stopped in jessup maryland in that ford taurus they have been searching for since sunday. when it looks like he was about to take off is when police moved in. they said gaither identified herself as the missing philadelphia a woman. barnes has an extensive criminal history including an arrest in philadelphia for aggravate add assault, false

imprisonment and being held on a warrant out of charles city county in virginia on a previous case for an allege attempted murder and abduction and rape of the 16 year-old girl there. gaither's family had this to say on her behalf, this morning. >> she good. she want to thank you will y'all for your help, everybody, she just kept saying thank you. she's happy to be back home and happy to be safe. she just want everybody to respect our privacy, through this tough time. >> reporter: now that suspect barnes will be arraigned on those charges in that previous case, in virginia, later on today, and then will be brought back here to philadelphia to face federal charges here. still a lot is unknown about the kidnapping have of carlesha gaither, why he took her, what he planned to do with her and where he planned to go? that is all still developing. her family is just relieved that she's back home safe this morning. reporting live, jane carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

our team coverage continues with nicole brewer. >> she's live at police headquarters with family and friend reaction, nicole. >> reporter: when carlesha went missing an entire community came together hoping and praying that she would come home safe, and they even organized a vigil never realizing her prayers had been answered. >> god gave her the courage to hold on. >> reporter: prayers for a safe return became messages of thanks and praise wednesday, as family, friend, supporters of carlesha freeland gaither learned of her safe return. >> thank you, lord, thank you. >> when i heard she was released, i was just glad, happy, overwhelmed. >> reporter: with pray circle will in place they gathered at the very spot where carlesha was abduct sunday night. for days they waited, wondered and worried. >> it has been hell. it has been hell. i thought it would be something but god is good.

updating our breaking news woman abduct this weekend returned home to philadelphia earlier this morning. carlesha freeland gaither was rescued in maryland yesterday. she was check out at a maryland area hospital after her rescue and made the trip home just a few hours ago. her abductor, 27 year-old delven barnes was taken in custody by a team of u.s. marshals, fbi agents and other authorities. barnes had has a history of arrests here in philadelphia and currently held on a attempted capitol murder charge. head coach of the half for high school football team faces dui and other charges this morning. police say joe gallagher was involved in the hit and run crash last weekend in prospect park. time right now coming up at 5:43. lets check with katie. we will get our forecast in lieu of all this rain. >> we have a lot of it out there. morning commute will be the worst when it comes to the rain issues we've got out there this morning.
