year old. rachel walton's stepmom works at the hospital where scotty was taken. >> all you could see was just lifeless scotty. like i said i'm a mom. so what she told me it's rough. ♪ >> reporter: at a prayer vigil friday night at the church there was a search for peace and sanity. this chester county community has been rocked. the three day long tortured death of scotty inside his home authorities say came at the hands of fallen obama and his mother 31 year old jillian tate. >> in this case the defendants intentionally avoided anything that would have raised a red flag. the neighbors tell us that they didn't let the kids play outsi outside. so that nobody would see the bruises. >> the couple lived inside this trailer with fellenbaum's wife amber who was also charged with endangerment. people who work with amber physical local wal*mart say they were signs of trouble in the home but didn't go into detail. >> i have a teaching degree.

i should have done something. i never did. >> reporter: people also came out to remember miller the fitness instructor who was shot and killed outside the west brandywine y where she work. her estranged boyfriend charged with the murder. miller leaves behind two boys ages 17 and 11. >> this is devastating to our community. we can't sit and be idle. >> funeral services for miller are set for tomorrow. as of right now it's not clear when little scotty mcmillan will be laid to rest. >> reporting in parkesburg chester county, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> we are not alone in remembering this little boy. people across the country pausing to remember scotty many lit candles and posted them on twitter and instagram using the hash tag remember scotty. there is also a facebook page called light up the night for scotty that has nearly 30,000 friends. there are resources to help you spot and report child abuse. you can find them on our website at cbsphilly.com.

>> we turn to the weather now and tonight will liking and the coldest we've seen in months and in just a few hours from now we could flirt with freezing temperatures. kathy is out on the sky deck now. kathy? >> we have clear skies, the winds are lightening up, chris, we're talking about temperatures that are plunging. they're falling very fast. right now philadelphia is one of the mild spots but you can see elsewhere it's not the case. philadelphia 42. 40 in trenton and dover. wildwood at 45. look at the poconos down to 30 already. 36 in allentown. our suburbs will fall into the 20s especially to the north and west. 30 in state college. 29 in cleveland that's some of the cold come tonight. winds out of the northwest between five and about 15 miles an hour but they will go light toward dawn. with those clear moonlit skies, we are looking at the coldest air of the season. the morning low in philadelphia 34 degrees. the coldest temperature in seven months. you have to go back to april 16th to find temperatures that low. waking up tomorrow in the 20s in

the lehigh valley around freezing in reading and northern our western suburbs even interior south jersey it's gig to be a chiller. it will be slow to warm across the delaware valley. we will get back into the 60s but it will be a bling before a polar blast moves into the delaware valley. more on that coming up with the seven day when i join you insi inside. >> kathy, thank you. new information tonight about an attack on a tee teacher that left him unconscious and with a concussion. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown is live at southwest detectives with the incident which was caught on camera. natasha? >> reporter: we are here at southwest detectives to night where they are couldn't to go investigate this incident. this on the heels of bartram high school beefing up security adding more cameras and police trying to stop the violence at school this year. a substitute teacher at bartram high school lays motion less in the hallway after being throat thrown to the ground by a student slamming his head on the floor. police say the thursday afternoon attack began with a

verbal altercation between the 18 year old student and the teacher inside a classroom. >> the 18 year old student walks into the classroom much he's not supposed to be in there. the teacher confronts him. tells him he has to leave. they have an exchange of words and the classroom -- in the classroom the student refusing to leave. as he goes to re-enter this classroom to talk to the student again to try to get him out of the class the student pushes him. >> when the two see each other again in the hallway at the end of the school day, officers say things escalated into a much more violent he can change. >> they again have a verbal confrontation. the student grabs him from his neck throws him to the ground. where he goes unconscious for a moment. >> reporter: no answer at the victim's southwest philadelphia home friday night. we're told he was treated and released from the hospital. the incident rattles councilman johnson hitting the streets of southwest philadelphia instituting programs meant to curb youth violence and provide positive alternatives. >> no form of violence especially against teachers should be tolerate wed want to

make sure teachers are safe, all young people are safe and most importantly there's zero tolerance policy towards any type of violence against any teachers. >> reporter: we can tell you tonight that the student has been suspended and is facing expulsion. he could be facing some very serious charges to night. including aggravated and simple assault. we're live at southwest detectives. natasha brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right. natasha, thank you. new tonight, members of the transport workers union local 234 voted just hours ago to approve a two-year crack with septa. workers will get a 5% raise for the duration of this contract. union leaders encourage members to vote yes after they reached a tentative agreement one week ago tonight. this deal avoids a strike that would have affected buses, subways and trollies. >> well also new at 11:00 we've learn the suspect in the abduction of carlesha gaither could be in philadelphia as early as monday to face charges. and as we dig deeper into the past of delvin barnes, we've

uncovered a violent past that includes vicious attacks on his own family. barnes trouble with the law started long before sunday's abduction in germantown. his former father-in-law who we're calling anthony says barnes attacked him almost nine years ago. beating him with a glass bowl as the two struggled over a baseball bat. >> i hope he spend the rest of his life in jail or give him the death penalty. >> three protect orders were not enough to protect anthony or his daughter. then barnes estranged wife. he was convicted of attacking her in philadelphia in 2005. prosecutors alleged he committed force cybill sexual intercourse, jumping on top of her hitting her in the face, choking her, placing the comforter over her face demanding sex. telling her he would stop beating her if she removed her clothes. barnes serve maximum on a four to eight year sentence for that crime and was released on probation last year. barnes attacked and almost murdered a teenager in virginia.

her mother has a message for barnes. >> god bless him. i hope that bleep fry in hell. >> her daughter suffered serious injuries. a fate carlesha freeland gaither was fortunate to avoid. >> "eyewitness news" will continue to dig into this story and break new ground as the investigation unfolds. we'll bring you all the developments here on tv and also online at cbsphilly.com. now to new information from delaware county where police say they cited 10 students for underaged drinking at radnor high school today. school officials tell us tonight that staffers observe the students in possession of alcohol before a pep rally for the football team's game against lower merion on saturday. police say they're also investigating the students in connection with possible drug activity on school grounds. >> tomorrow president obama will nominate long-time federal prosecutor loretta lynch to serve as the next us attorney general.

she's currently the u.s. attorney for the eastern district of new york. if confirmed lynch would replace eric holder and be the first african-american woman to hold that post. >> president obama will also be sending more u.s. troops to iraq to combat the terror group known as isis. today the president authorized deployment of up to 1500 troops. they'll serve in non-combat advisory roll. bringing the total number of us troops in iraq now to 3100. the troops will train, add advice and assist iraq's military and curdish forces as well. the president is asking the congress for an additional $5 billion to fund the fight. >> well tonight the philadelphia sixers honored members of the military and their families during stars and stripes night at wells fargo center. the sixers and toyota donated 1500 tickets to active and retired service members so they can see tonight's game. the players also wore special head bands, wrist bands and socks to honor our veterans.

jerry seinfeld is in the spotlight tonight thanks to personal revelation. he says that he believes he could be on the autism spectrum. seinfeld admits that as he has learned more about autism spectrum disorders, he sees some of the same behaviors in himse himself. admitting that social engagement is really a struggle for him and that comedians are the only kind of people he feels completely relaxed around. >> there's new information tonight in the death of robin williams. an autopsy has found no illegal drugs or alcohol were present in his system when he died in august. williams had publicly acknowledged struggles in his life with substance abuse. the coroner ruled williams death suicide that resulted from a fix ya due to hanging. >> now a follow up on an investigation "eyewitness news" first reported to you in may. nurses being ab bruised inside hospitals locally and around the country. the latest incident happened at a hospital in minneapolis. surveillance video shows a skate year old patient attacking nurses with a bar pulled from

the bed of his hospital bed. the side of his bed. in may health reporter stephanie stahl interviewed several local nurses who been attack on the job. a bite from patient left one nurse with post traumatic stre stress. >> hardest part for mow was not feeling safe. it was hard to comprehend that another person could be capable of just that kind of violent. >> local nurses are pushing for legislation that would require hospitals to create better workplace violence prevention programs and that attack in minneapolis two nurses were injured. the patient who attacked them died while in police custody. when it comes to their professional lives it can be hard for women to get the same opportunities as men. but it's not just men who create barriers researchers say sometimes it's women. women business owners in philadelphia worked the room behind each laugh and smile as an opportunity to connect and grow. >> there are opportunities to create teams.

we have team right here. but hope horowitz wasn't always supported this way. at an old job she says another woman and her female conspirator forced her out. >> i thought she was on my team, and i couldn't believe when i found out that the two of them had been ganging up on me. it's nothing new. 2014 survey by workplace bullying institute when women bully they're tar is another woman 68% of the time. >> for some reason in my experience women don't always support women. alexandra who owns an insurance company thought she'd get a fair shake from a female owned business. they praised her proposal but passed on her any way. >> we're not moving forward with you because you're a mom. it killed me because they had every opportunity to empower another woman and chose not to. >> the fewer women around the worse it can get. a 2012 george mason university study sewed when workplace has few women those women help each other less. >> women are less supportive of

other women in conditions where they're both under represented in a workplace and feel that there are only a few opportunities for advancement. mazda miles an event organizer from drexel hill says she's seen it happen in corporate life. >> a lot of times it was like this is my only shot, and so you are now, you know, my enemy. you are my competition and it's unfortunate. >> when they support you, they're fabulous. when they don't, it's high school and get out of the way. >> these women say they're dedicated to being grown ups who grow business for everyone. >> i've been in business for 45 years now. it has changed a lot and it's getting better. >> you rising above and bringing someone with you. >> and researchers say women who avoid helping other women often do it unconsciously. they might fear the competition or worry that helping another woman could jeopardize their status. we do have resources available on cbsphilly.com.

cbsphilly.com/watchers. >> so we have winds that are diminishing. we have skies that are clear and that means we are experiencing what's called radiational cooling. any warmth which builds up during the day escapes right into the atmosphere. in atlantic city temperatures will be staying in the 40s during the overnight. still seeing some wind though as our camera our skycam3 is shaking a little with. on storm scan3 you can see nothing but a clear sky over us as high pressure tries to build itself back into the region, and it will do so overnight and during the day tomorrow. so we'll start off very cold tomorrow in the 20s and 30s. but by the afternoon warming it up you can see some of the colder air in our suburbs lehigh valley berks county and wilmington in the 30s all right. 38 in millville. 35 degrees in atlantic city. but that is the airport. 9 miles inland along our shore points we'll be in the 40s overnight. 42 in philadelphia. and 30 degrees and falling in the poconos. high pressure builds into the south during the day tomorrow. our wind becomes little bit more southwesterly which is a milder wind for us but still struggling

around 50 degrees. as the high build as little bit further off the coast we warm it up a few ticks for sunday and even during the day on monday. so conditions will definitely be improving. by veterans day, we are talking about the 60s. but then, we'll talk about the cold, the polar vortex. we are seeing conditions that are going to change, a piece of this which typically circulates around the polls will be dipping southward, and as it does, it will displace some cold air especially through the central part of the country. the coldest air to the west and we will be seeing conditions that are quite chilly, though, by the end of next week. chilly i mean highs in the 40s, lows in the 20s and the 30s. mainly clear overnight the low 34. during the day tomorrow lots of sun. the high temperature 51. and on the exclusive "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast, we warm it up before we cool it back down significantly next week. that's a look at your seven day forecast. we'll be back with beasley and
