we saw winds in excess of 40 miles an hour yesterday. and there was even hail in south philly yesterday. so, it was a cold, blustery day, and today, another one, but maybe not as bad, because we're not looking at any precipitation. it is starting look gorgeous out there, though, look at this, jack frost, big boulder, as the sun starts to come up. it is just has erie, creepy but casino of nice look. and then we head down, and we take a look right now at kutztown, 28 degrees, see the farm field, sallyann low in the distance. so pretty start to the day. the moon was out. it was really lovely overnight. as long as you didn't have to be out in it. the temperatures, as you can see, very, very chilly in the 20's in some locations. storm scan3, any clouds are off to the north and the west. we are dealing basically with clear skies around here. 36 degrees right now out at the airport in philadelphia, so our temperature has come up 2 degrees in trenton, 32, wilmington, 34 degrees, it is

29 in allentown, 26 degrees in the poconos, 39 degrees down in wildwood. and then we move into couple of our neighbors to the north, quakertown, 28 degrees, pottstown, 27 degrees, willow grove, 31 degrees, mt. holly, just above the freezing mark at 33 degrees, in doylestown, 30 degrees. chilly start today. we saw temperature of 34 degrees, than was the coldest temperature since april the 16th. and now we factor in the wind, it feels like it is around 30 degrees in philadelphia. but feels 23 degrees up in the allentown area. our temperatures today, will be warming up. not a lot. we have them maybe getting all the way to 50 degrees. you might evening out 51 degrees. but that should be the extent of it. the skies would be nice and bright, so it is a cold start to the day, the finish, still chilly, we've got seven day forecast, and the temperatures are all over the place, i'll show you that coming up. nicole? >> carol, thank you. right now, we do want to move onto some breaking news, first told but in our last hour. now, firefighters here in

burlington county, battling this blaze at south jersey mowers, lawn mowing business there in the area. it is happening on the 600 block of styles avenue in maple shade. now, that initial call came in just before 4:00 this morning. so we've been watching this fire all morning long. police tell cbs-3, that one woman so far has been rushed to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. but, again, you can see, lots lots of fire there, they've been working on this, and there is some white smoke coming. that means that they may be gaining the upper hand on getting this fire under control. but, for now, still a big, big mess out there, in burlington county. we're also told by the way, some road closures, in the area, so we'll try to get some more information on that, and pass it along to you. but, again, this is a very large fire, happening in south jersey, and we will continue to follow it for you all morning long. stay with "eyewitness news" for more updates as the morning continues. right now, though, temple university student is recovering after being shot during a attempted robbery

early this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is live outside hahnemann university hospital with more on the details, steve? >> reporter: nicole, right away we start seeing news alerts from temple university on twitter, through e-mail, advising the student body to stay away from the area of the shooting. i want to take you to the scene now, getting details, still coming in, this is developing story, but here's what we know. this morning police responding to the 1500 block of north 17th street. it is about 1:00 o'clock this morning, investigators saying a temple university student shot in the leg in a apparent robbery, that they say, went wrong. that student transferred here to hahnemann hospital, last update we received this morning, the student was in stable condition, is recovering. no word from police on possible suspects, but again, in those news releases, we got some information on a suspect, description, shooter described as a male, red hoodie, red

beanie, bluejeans, mid 20's, those advisories telling student again to stay away from the area, but if they do see anything, to call 911 immediately. again, word on the student is he's in stable condition here at hahnemann hospital. that's it for now. live at hahnemann hospital, i'm steve patterson, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". all right, steve, thank you. meanwhile, suspected drug dealer leads philadelphia police on chase that ends with a violent collision. now, in the process, four police officers were hit and dragged. it gannon the 5100 block of frankford avenue friday night. officers say they saw a drug deal going down, and tried to make an arrest. the 25 year old alleged dealer then jumped into his cadillac escalade, and fled. driving the wrong way down the inner lanes of roosevelt boulevard, the suspect actually t boned an innocent driver at langdon street. >> after this auto accident the male resisted arrest. and he had to be tasered, and then finally taken into police

custody. >> the innocent driver is in stable condition. two of the four police officers suffered minor injuries. the suspect facing multiple charges. and now to the latest on a horrifying case of child abuse. grieving community comes together to mourn the loss after toddler, and mark the end after violent week in their community. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones was in parksburg for the emotional night. >> he is a very angry, scary man. >> that is how people who know gary fallenbomb accused killer of little scotty mcmillan described the 23 year old, rachael walton's step mom works at the hospital where scotty was taken. >> all you could see is just lifeless body. and, like i said, i am a mom, so when she told me, it is rough. >> at a prayer vigil friday night at the gateway church, there was a search for peace and sanity, this chester county community has been rocked, the three day long tortured death of scotty

inside his home, authorities say, came at the hands of fallenbomb his own mother, 31 year old jillian tate. >> in this case, the defendants intentionally avoided anything that would have raised a red flag. the neighbors tell us that they didn't let the kids play outside, so that nobody would see the bruises. >> the couple lived inside this trail or with fallenbomb's wife amber also charged with endangerment. people who worked with amber at the local wal-mart say there were signs of trouble in the home but didn't go into detail. >> i should have done something, you know, i never did. >> people also came out to remember the fitness instructor shot and killed outside the west brandywine y where she worked. her estranged boyfriends, charged with the murder. mill he leaves behind two boys, ages 17 and 11. >> this is devastate to go our community. we can't sit and be idol. >> funeral services for mill remember set for tomorrow, as of right now, though, not clear when little scotty mcmillan will be laid to rest.

reporting in parksburg, chester county, todd quinones, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". such a horrible story. by the way, we are not alone, in remembering this little boy, people across the country pausing to remember scotty. many lit candles, for him, and posted them on twitter and instagram with the hashtag remember scotty. there is also a facebook page called light up the night for scott that i has nearly 30,000 friends. there are also some resources to help you spot and report child abuse, if you ever see anything, just head to our website, cbsphilly.com. well, members of the transport workers union local 234 approve a two year contract with septa. workers will get a 5% raise for the duration of that contract. union leaders encourage members to vote yes last night after they received attentive agreement one week ago. the deal avoids a strike that would a have affected buses, subways, and trolleys. >> well, we have learned the suspect in the abduction of carlesha gator could be in philadelphia as early as

monday to face charges. "eyewitness news" anchor chris may addition deep near delvin barnes' criminal history and uncovers a very violent past that includes vicious attacks on his own family. >> reporter: barges' trouble with the law started long before sunday's abduction in germantown. his former father-in-law, who we're calling anthony, says barnes attack him almost nine years ago, beating him with a glass bowl, as the two struggled over a baseball bat. >> i hope that he spend the rest of his life in jail, or give him the death penalty. >> reporter: three protection orders not enough to protect anthony or his daughter, then barnes' estranged wife. he was convicted of attacking her in philadelphia in 2005. prosecutors allege, he committed forceable sexual intercourse, jumping on top of her, hitting her in the face, choking her, placing the comforter over her face, demanding sex, telling her woe stop beating her if she removed her clothes. barnes served maximum on four to eight year sentence for

that crime, and was released on probation last year. back on the streets, police say, barnes attack and almost murdered a teenager in virginia. her mother has a message for barnes. >> god bless him. i hope that you beep drags in hell. >> her daughter suffered serious injuries, a fate carlesha freeland-gaither was fortunate to avoid. chris may, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and "eyewitness news" will continue to dig into the story, and break new ground, as the investigation unfolds. we'll also bring you development on television and on line, at cbsphilly.com. a fourth student has died as a result of last month's rampage at a washington state school. fifteen year old fryberg succombed to injuries friday. his family thanked the medical team who cared for him, and asked for privacy. andrew was shot by his own cousin, jaylen fryberg, three other student event died from their injuries, and jaylen dialed of self inflicted gunshot wounds. >> well, later today,

president obama will nominate long time federal prosecutor, loretta lynch, to serve as the next u.s. attorney general. she is currently the us attorney for the eastern district of new york. now, if confirmed, lynch would replace eric holler and be the first african-american woman to hold that post. well, the military will soon be sending more us troops to iraq to combat the terror group known as isis. president obama authorized deployment of to up 1500 troops. they will serve in a non-combat advisory role, bringing total number of us troops in iraq to 3100. now, the troops will train, advise, and assist iraq's military and kurdish forces. president obama is also asking congress for 5 billion more dollars to help fund the fight. well, small businesses make up the core of many of our neighborhoods. so why are city leaders hoping to ban certain types of businesses, like salons, and day cares, in one section of the city? >> coming up next, we take a look at both sides that far debate.

>> this is happening in the city mayfair section, banning certain types every business. matt rivers spent the day finding out what impact the proposal could have on local businesses. >> reporter: thirteen bucks, and dominick, promises a close shave and clean face. he's the owner of hair wizards barber shop in the mayfair section of northeast philly. >> i work hard for. >> this you know, it is not something that came east. >> i but opening up a businesslike his in mayfair, might be tougher sometimes soon. proposed bill would establish what's called zoning overlay. it would prohibit certain types of businesses from opening, places like hair salons, car lots, day cares, over dozen in total t also means dominick's bashers couldn't open up their own shop nearby. >> how are we going to grow? >> zoning proposal is intended to be part of broader redevelopment mayfair, one where streets are filled with more restaurants, higher end retail, less nail salons, beer distributors. chief of staff for northeast philly state representative

kevin boil. and he says hire rent businesses raise property values and quality of life. >> because families will want to move in to a community where they have everything. >> another part of kaplan's argument is just about volume. take, for example, the block his office sits on. over my right shoulder see car dealership, right next-door, you can see a hair salon. plus a little further down the street you have a dry cleaners that sit right next to an used furniture store. in total, four out of every ten businesses in mayfair are the types of stores that would be banned under this new zoning proposal. and officials say that leaves little room for other industries to grow. dominick hundred jess disagrees. >> well, people want to open up their own business, just want to do better for themselves, provide jobs for other. >> for now the zoning bill sit in committee, whether it becomes law, will decide if it remains business as usual in mayfair. matt rivers, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". oh, it is a cold morning out there, our weather watchers are up, though, maybe

huddled under their blankets, like i hope you are. 29 degrees, that's the temperature that rhawn russell is finding out in riverside. and he's made a comment about that. and it feels like 25 degrees. so, it is a cold morning out there, but boy, is it beautiful. i want to show you couple of great looking shots outside. and you'll see that the sun is starting to come up. and it is beautiful up in jack frost, big boulder, but the temperatures are cold in every single location. but isn't that kind after erie fall-like look? nice look, jack frost, big bowel err, move onto another camera, see it is going to brighten up at the shore, whole other look. we have buildings instead of mountains, ocean instead after lake. and then we move over to cut town, and 28 degrees brightening up there, as well, see the silow, it is a cold morning, though, few clouds, filter in that location, but the farther south you go, the more clear skies you're likely to find. these temperatures are cold. as our weather watchers will be happy to tell you. storm scan3, notice, clouds to the north, through allentown,

but none through philadelphia, and point south. and we will keep a day that's nice and bright and not nearly as windy as yesterday when the winds were gusting over 40 miles an hour, we saw some hail, in south philly, it was quite a day. 32 degrees, in trenton, that is the temperature right now, we have 36, philadelphia, 34 degrees in wilmington, 26 degrees up in the poconos, 37 degrees down in wildwood. a cold day, even colder if you're out in it, so it feels like 26 degrees in trenton, 32 degrees in wilmington, wear all of your jackets, make sure your pets are in, and as comfortable as you are. that's a must when ' see these temperatures like. >> this we are looking at temperatures today, that barely get to 50 degrees. the sun will be out. few clouds, as well. not as windy as yesterday. so, probably not feeling as cold as it was yesterday. tomorrow, looks even little nicer, i think, because these temperatures get into the middle 50's, then by the time we get to monday, they're into the upper 50's, so the improving trends is there, but not for long.

because we have this. we've got blast of cold air. it is just waiting for us. center of the country gets it first, it oozes over into our direction, by thursday, and friday, and probably next saturday, we are looking at temperatures that will be no higher than the four's, as we move on through the afternoon. we have clear skies now, though, for the most part. and we will keep them for the most part. as we go through the day, then tonight, we do see some clouds, move in overnight, and that will keep these temperatures warmer tomorrow morning, and overnight, not going to be warm, but warmer, than the coldest temperatures that we've seen so far this year, like we're finding this morning. and then, even by tuesday it, looks nice on veterans day. temperature, 50 degrees, in philadelphia this afternoon. shore, 52, sunshine, nice, 45 for our high temperature in the poconos today. so it is chilly every place. winds out of the southwest, five to 10 miles an hour, again, a lot better than wind gusts of 40 miles an hour, as we had to deal with yesterday. tonight we see these temperatures drop to about 41 degrees, the sun, just

call came in before 4:00 this morning, out live, you can see, much of the flames are out, thick, white smoke, continues to bill owe from what's left of that building. police tell us cbs-3 that one woman was actually rushed to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. so we are work to go get more information on her condition. also, told, there are several road closures throughout that area. so you should avoid it for the time being. but we also saw portions of that building actually collapsing in that fire, and just really impressive flames there, fortunately it, looks like firefighters were able to gain the upper hand with some hot spots good morning, today is saturday, november 8th, i'm nicole brewer, just past 6:30, the forecast with carol.

chilly one? >> it is. but won't be at windy as yesterday. that's going to make a difference. but still it will be cool. we've got fiery looking skies in some locations, but different than because of the reason in maple shade. blue skies in philadelphia, but take a look, poconos this morning, look at that beautiful shot. more clouds naught that location, few in kutztown, too, and they also look just terrific out there this morning. beautiful start to the day. but, look at the temperature, 26 degrees out there, since last april, temperatures up 36 at the airport in philadelphia, but been as lee as 34. that's what made it the coldest so far this season. thirty-two in trenton, 34 degrees in wilmington, right now, we have 29 degrees in allentown, 31 degrees in atlantic city, some temperatures below freezing, and a lot of them to the north of philadelphia, are below

threatening injuries. let's take you back to the scene. cameras there this morning, police responding to the 1500 block of north 17th street. it is about 1:00 o'clock this morning, and investigators, telling us, that temple student, again, shot in the thigh, and apparent robbery that went wrong outside of the party. transferred here to hahnemann hospital. last update we heard student in stable condition, expected to be okay, non-life threatening injuries. no word from police on possible suspects, and we did get a description, they said he's a shooter, male, red hoodie, red beanie, bluejeans mid 20, a meanwhile telling the student don't stay away from that area this morning, as they continue to do their investigation. but again, major take away from this, student shot in the thigh, taken here, in stable condition, where he remains this morning. it is the latest from hahnemann hospital. steve patterson, cbs 3, "eyewitness news".

>> learning about an attack on a teachers left lying unconscious with a concussion. caught on camera, "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has the video and details in southwest detectives. >> substitute teacher lies motionless in the hallway after being thrown to the grounds by student planting his head-on the floor. police say the thursday afternoon attack began with a verbal altercation, between the 18 year old student and the teacher, inside a classroom. >> 178 year olds walks in the classroom, told he has to leave, he goes to re-enter the classroom to talk to the student again to try to get him out of the class and the student pushes him. >> when they see each other in the hallway at the end of the school day, thinks he is call ate intoed much more violent exchange. >> then again have verbal confrontation, student grabs him to the neck, goes to the

grounds, and goes unconscious for the moment. >> no answer at the victim's south philadelphia home. we are told he was treated and released from the hospital. incident rattles man councilman who has been hitting the street of southwest philadelphia instituting programs meant to curb youth violence and provide positive alternatives. no form of violence, especially against teachers, are tolerated. we want to make sure all are safe, and more importantly, zero violence. >> eighteen year old students is suspended and facing expulsion, and could be facing aggravated and simple assault. natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". now to new information coming out of delaware county where police say they cited ten student for under age drinking at radnor high school. school officials tell us, that staffers observed the students in possession of alcohol before a pep rally, for the football team's game against lower merion on saturday.

now, police say, they're also investigating the student in connection with possible drug activity right there on school grounds. a teen want in the connection with a sexual assault is now behind bars, in darby. eighteen year old kaseem hill turned himself in police after investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest. authorities say hill learned the 14 year old victim to his home where he assaulted her. darby police say the suspect called them after the alleged incident, challenging them to, quote, come and get him. >> well, police in haddonfield, new jersey, need help identifying the people seen in this video, on your screen. they're actually vandalizing the school bus there. this incident happened around 5:00 o'clock on tuesday. the bus was park near the department of public works on center street. police say the suspects used skateboards to hit the side door of the bus, and anyone with information is urged to contact police. >> a south jersey manna cues in the camden county police of paralyzing him during his arrest in a new lawsuit. twenty-one year old xavier

ingram of camden remains hospitalized unable to move from the neck down. surveillance video shows ingram running from police in june, after allegedly ditching a stolen gun. now everything during that chase, ingram appears to fall, and then handcuffed on the ground. police thought ingram caused his spinal injury when he fell, but ingram's attorney says the injury was caused by excessive force after ingram was subdued. >> the lawsuit that we recently filed for mr. ingram contends and claims that the officers stopped the back of his neck and his neck. >> the camden county prosecutor's office is investigating and referred us to previous statement, which said, quote, an investigation into officer conduct is ongoing, but the incident was captured on video and no indication of the use of excessive force or police misconduct that might have contribute today ingram's injuries. on the cbs-3 health watch this morning, we're following up on an investigation we

first brought you back in may. nurses be abused inside hospitals locally and all around the country. health reporter stephanie stahl has more on the latest incident which happened in minnisota now, we do want to warn you, pretty violent attack. >> surveillance video from a minneapolis hospital shows a 68 year old patient attacking nurses with a bar, pulled from the side of his bed, described as being dilutional and paranoid, the patient starts in the nurse's station, and chases them into the hallway, hitting four of the nurses. >> two of them actually fell down in the hallway, and they were repeatedly struck by the man with the pole. >> nursing is is a very difficult job these days, we experience a loft workplace violence, and i believe it is increasing. >> petty -- patty, president of the association of staff nurses says violence against nurse sass growing problem, for our special report in may, i interviewed several local nurses, who had been attacked, this bite from a patient left one nurse with post-traumatic stress. >> the hardest part for me was
