november 9th, good morning to you, thanks so much for joining us, i'm nicole brewer. it is just about 7:00. let's get a check on the forecast, you've got some good news for us, carol? >> i do. in the shorter term i think people will love the weather forecast, it is not bad today. it is going to be even nicer today than it was yesterday when it was definitely on the cool side high of only ooh degrees today we add a couple of degrees. out at the present time, it looks beautiful out there with the blue skies, starting to show up, and the while clouds, so really nice looking start to the day. we're getting rid of a lot of the clouds that we've been seeing, next shot up is darkness. but not for long, because we'll turn the lights on in kutztown, loop over the last couple of hours, and you can see, that we are brightening things up in a real nice way. temperature of freezing, there, 32 degrees, but it is warmer than it was yesterday morning. we have storm scan3, showing, just few clouds, especially as you move through south jersey, and just interesting ones to the north and west of that. but, those clouds, in south jersey, are also leaving.

forty-six out at the airport in philadelphia, moving to the north, 37 in allentown, 33 now in the poconos. and moving to the south, 44 in millville, 46 down in wildwood at this point. winds are coming up. they're light and out of the west and kind of the southwest in a few spots, but mostly out of the west, three, 4 miles an hour, so not big deal, windchill not a factor this morning. 54 degrees by noon, by 3:00 p.m., 56 degrees, mostly sunny skies, and in fact our future weather just clears us out very nicely, and by 4:00 p.m., and long before that looking at sunshine. for how long, and how warm do these temperatures get? the answer to all of those questions and many others you might have coming up with the eyewitness weather seven day forecast just ahead, nick snow. >> carol, thank you. homicide under investigation in philadelphia's hunting park neighborhood. it happened shortly before 11:30 last night in the 1600 block of row and street. investigators say an unidentified woman was shot in the head. she died at the scene. rye now there is no word on

motive or a suspect. also, new this morning, one person is dead after a shooting outside a north philadelphia bar. investigators tell us shots were fired outside last chance bar at 18th and girard avenue. the shooting happened just before 11:00 last night. there is no word on the identity of the victim, and police are still looking for that shooter. a philadelphia police cruiser catches fire after a hit-and-run crash in south philadelphia. the search on this morning for the driver who fled that scene. the officer was pulled out of the car, just before it burst into flames. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers, has the story. >> the police car burned at 28th and tasker in south philly. an eyewitness shot this individual joe around 63 right about the time dante johnson jumped off his couch. >> two houses from the car he describes what he saw as he raised toward the flames. >> literally like the fourth of july. seemed like the hot at the got, the more it spread, the

more it was like popping. >> moments earlier this pick-up truck had blown a stop sign, including with the police cruiser. the officer was stuck inside. dazed, his door wedged shot, the engine caught fire. >> seeing the flame, me and couple of other people ran to the cop car, pulled the cop car out, got him to safety. >> meanwhile the driver of the pick-up truck had fled and passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital. both crash victims were safe. but the car continued to burn, prompting police to worry about the growing crowd of bystanders. well timed, instruction, as the fire flared, just seconds later. firefighters arrived soon after, and the flames were put out. this, was the aftermath, black ends metal, and charred driver seat, where the officer might have been had it not been for the action of dante and few other. >> i call awe hero, what do you say? >> i wouldn't be able to call myself a hero. felt like i'm an innocent bystand here did the right thing. >> both the police officer and

the passenger inside the pick-up truck are expected to be okay. the driver of the pick-up truck did flea the scene after accident, however, and will face criminal charges if he is caught. we're outside of police headquarters, matt rivers, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". meanwhile, the search continues for the gunman who shot a temple university student during a attempted robbery in north philadelphia. the shooting happened outside an off-campus party on the 1500 block of north 17th street early saturday morning. police say the victim was sitting on the porch when the gunman demanded his wallet. eyewitnesses say the student lunged at the would be robber and the pair struggled. the gun went off and that student was shot in the leg. just really shocked. i mean, i feel like my bike was robbed, i mean, from me, and i think that was like the worse it would ever be on the block, everyone seems pretty friendly, seems pretty call. >> cops, dragged him out of the house, took him off in a police car, and just shut down the street. >> the victim is in stable

condition. two remaining american citizens i am press fond korea now free and back until the us this morning. their release big step in diplomatic relation was north korea. cbs news correspondent chris van cleve has the latest. >> reporter: kenneth bae and matthew miller back on us soil after release from korean prisons saturday. >> just amazing blessing to see so many people being involved, getting released the last three years. >> james klapper, other. s officials, flew to negotiate their release, he accompanied the pair back to the states on military jet to a base in washington state. >> officials say there was nothing given to north korea in exchange for the men's release. bes a missionary from washington state, arrested two years ago, and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for what the nor koreans said were crimes against the state. miller, of bakersfield, california, has been in custody since april, sentenced to six years of hard labor charged with spying. both said in a interview with western journalists in september that they were being

sixth annual lemon run here in philadelphia, a run to raise money, but also, awareness for childhood cancer. the best cause there is. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry live at memorial hall in fairmount park, with all of those details, syma, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, nicole. that's right, it is the sixth annual lemon run for the alex's lemonade stand, and with me right now is the co-executive director and mom of alex, liz scott, good morning. >> good morning. >> so, it is a great event out here, great weather. you can't complain. so how many people will be out here, about 2,000 something? >> yes, we are expect being 2500 runners and walkers today, a lot of families, whose children have cancer, a lot of people out here supporting them, and also, just a lot of people who want to come out and support alex's lemonade stands. >> and so many events that you guys hold each year, and this is just one of them. is this like one of the things that kids can really get involved in? because there is a little dash run for the kids. >> yes, this is a great family event. we have a kid dash for younger kids, where they just do like all-out race, 100 yards, and then a lot of families run and

walk together, in fact, my son and i, it was our first 5k together. i touched so many families tell me this was their child's first 5k. night that is course. it is verree toys get to, park something great, so families come down, there is a lot of activities here, too, and just have great time and support a good cause. >> a lot of people run and walk in this area anyway. i know registration is open and on the spot do. someone come down like right now and parities nature. >> they k the race kicks off 8:30, kids dash is at 8:00. but race kicks off 8:30 with the walkers right behind. there is plenty of time. we take same day registrations hoping for at least couple of hundred people to walk up and sign today. >> and this money is going to be used for childhood cancer research? >> yes, we primarily fund research. we do have some family support programs. but the biggest part whatever we do is try to find cures for kids. >> anyone missing this event, and they can't make it out here at all, if there is a way they could donate or get involved in any other way,

the 40's, to the south, everybody gets well into the 50's, today, so i think it is a day that you will love. and it is already starting out warmer, 10 degrees warmer in philadelphia. we have 14 degrees, warmer on the thermometer in wildwood. and 17 degrees warmer in atlantic city. so, this is improvement. even if nothing else changed today. that certainly is a good bit of news. >> clouds through south jersey are thinning out, now see them along the shore areas, and inland, and leaving, and left with some sunshine today, i think you will love the look of the day. it will be more comfortable than yesterday. yesterday's high 50, today's highs, 56. 57 degrees. high pressure in charge of our weather. we like that. and it is going to stay in charge of the weather tomorrow. >> so this 50 could be 50's, could be actually 60.

tuesday, middle 60s, even warmer day coming up then. >> we to start to cool down. not hugely dramatically but i think when you go from the middle six offals, to the middle four's in one day you will definitely notice a change. we have not much going on. according to this future weather, no precipitation, we're expecting not much in the way of clouds, or anything else. so, that is a good look for the rest of the day, tonight, tomorrow looks great, tuesday looks fine, might find few more clouds coming to the picture, then early wednesday notice this computer model does want to throw few clouds back. and then, we go out to the longer range, thursday and beyond, cold air comes down, actually starts to sneak down here later on wednesday. cool today, shore, 55, poconos, 48 degrees, can't miss forecast. no matter where you are.

our stars, veterans day, mostly sunny on tuesday, the way it looks right now, nice, warm, beautiful day to celebrate them, our flag, our great country. temperatures today middle 50's, becoming sunny and certainly milder than it was yesterday. tonight drop down, winds out of the west 5 miles an hour, and the sun, just wrapping it up, going home, doesn't care if the boss wants it to stay late or not. it is leaving at 4:50, so that's it. then, as we take a look at the next couple of days, we've got temperatures that will be in the 60s, monday, tuesday, and maybe again on wednesday, but notice, wednesday night, temperature at 35 degrees, we start to cool down wednesday, and, thursday, friday, and saturday, our highs are no higher than the 40's. so, lots of cool weather is coming in. >> you know, we have eight got something fun for everybody.

awkwardly positioned, if they have trouble chewing, then would you have to do something. >> and why would a dog have an under bite like that, just heredity? >> genetic. >> i know, honey, i know, jerry, every jerry loves me. >> if there is a problem you obviously get to the vet, because what could you do with a under bite? >> different ways to do it, depending how aggressive you wanted to be. could you have braces like orthodontics, like guard dog, or dog that was service animal, or a loft times we just extract the teeth causing the problem. >> you can take a look at the teeth, you can see, some of the little pointers stick out, the k9's, that sort of thing, all right, and while we're looking at that, second opinion, if your dog needs surgery should you get a second opinion? >> i think second opinions are

good to do, for peace every minds, 100 percent right, good to see you get a second opinion and they concur, difference of opinion then question further, make decision as to which way you want to go. and i think most veterinarians are very happy to recommend second opinions, we want to do things the best for the owner and the pet. >> absolutely. >> how do you help a dog that's cut their paw pad or even cat, they can probably do the same. >> paw pads, depends on how severe the cut s mild cut, clean it very gently, maybe -- >> with what? >> with just little warm water, i wouldn't -- drop of peroxide in it, maybe, but not too much to make it irritatingment keep it clean. if it needs, split open, the skin is bleeding, then would you have to see a vet. some of those wounds can be real difficult to heal. >> oh, okay. so if your dog has something on their foot, and the soap and water doesn't work get to the vet? >> specially if the pet is lick ago lot. do you have do something. >> okay, what about animals itchy but clean, they don't have bug bites, or so you

it is just about 7:30. let's get a check on the forecast with carol. and it will be a little warmer today. right, than yesterday? >> yes. >> is that good news. >> we'll take that, this time of the year, if you can get some warmer temperatures out of the day, more good. and we're going to be finding temperatures maybe five, six, 7 degrees warmer than yesterday. and it is not all that windy, it will be brighter than it looks right now, in some locations, let's head outside, do you notice, some blue skies, but you also have some clouds specially as you mover to the east. those two will be leaving. we take a look at kutztown, tan looks great out there. the ocean city area, though, covered with the clouds. and you can see, 33 degrees, out in kutztown, it is milder along the shore lines. so, morning where depending on where you are, the farther north you are, more likely you are to be finding more sunshine at this point to the south and the east, few more clouds, for awhile. but those too will be leaving. forty-six philadelphia. we have 41 in trenton, 40 degrees in wilmington, we probably pick up about 10 degrees before we close out the temperatures for the day

throughout the philadelphia areament back to the midwest, the temperatures are not all that cold still everybody fairly comfortable for this time of year. storm scan three clouds to the east, but otherwise clearing is heading in our direction. warmer temperatures head in the our direction, 56 degrees for eventual high today. clouds pull away, left with some sunshine later on this afternoon, we finish out the forecast, and talk about the ends of the week, when the colder air does even arrive in our area, and just how low the temperatures go. that's coming up. nicole? >> thank you. a fire destroys a long time mower shop in maple shade burlington county, and this morning, investigators are trying to figure out just what sparked this fire. proud for more than 30 years. >> staple for the community. been here for a long time. >> reporter: two alarm fire send flames spewing out of this structure that housed both south jersey mowers and the home of the people who owned it. >> a shame, really is, sad, you know, you have been here for years, you hate to see something like this happen to anybody, and any town. >> fire officials say it broke out around 4:00 in the 600 block of styles, producing towering flames that would not stop until daylight broke on smoldering rue glimpse pretty amazing, i mean, when would you sit there, think they had it under control, a hour later, things would start to shoot right back up again. >> emergency workers say one of the owners, a woman, suffered minor smoke inhalation and throat burns, she'll spends the night at nearby hospital in stable condition. the business is gutted. fire marshall work to go determine how the fire started while the community stands marveling at how this decades-old building ended. in maple shade, steve

patterson, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> u.s. attorney general, news conference yesterday, introduced lore eight lynch, 55 year olds currently federal prosecutor in new york. now, if confirmed, lynch would be the first african-american women to holds the post, as the nation's top law enforcement officials. meantime, current attorney general, eric holder; praising law enforcement agencies here in our region. for their work in rescuing abduction victim carlesha freeland-gaither. holds err offered his thanks in a letter. authorities saidel vin barnes snatched the 22 year old woman off a germantown street last sunday. atf agents found them in just up, maryland on wednesday. barnes is currently behind bars in virginia where he faces attempted murder charges in another case. officials say, he's currently on suicide watch. >> judge orders ncaa to turn over nearly 500 internal emails relating to the sanctions imposed on penn state over the jerry sandusky

scandal. a state lawmaker and the state treasurer are seeking the material as they prepared for january trial. now, they're trying keep the fine money collected under the 2012 consent decree within pennsylvania to address child abuse. stop plot to -- police arrested four suspected islamic terrorists after they say those man planned knife attack on the 88 year old queen. sources told the sun they also believe they may have had access to guns. the queen is planning a number of public appearances this weekend, she has reportedly been informed about that foiled assassination attempt. but still intends to go ahead with her schedule as planned. >> today germany marks 25 years since the berlin wall came down. the wall was of course a literal and symbolic barrier, divided the nation and the world. german counselor was among the many dignitaries placing flowers in a preserved segment of the wall. more than a million people are

2,500 people here to run, walk, the 5k. even participate in the kid's dash. with me right now is a participant. this is steve it, passanio. did i say it right? i was practicing. so thirds year doing this? >> yes, i've been a participant in the lemon run, since 2011. >> this year doing it for different reason. i hear you are doing this for a particular person? >> i work at gsk. she passed away suddenly cup old of months ago, but alex's lemonade stand one of the foundations and charities that she supported and felt real strongly about so we're here team jess 40 strong. kids dashing, weaver some folks walking, and we've got some runners, as well. raise being $24,000 for the foundation to support childhood cancer research today. >> and that's amazing, because you're doing this for someone who was close to you.

>> who lovers the events? >> yes, jess very athletic, runner, we all did the philly love run, half marathon, raising money for alex, this is something we do and do every year in memory of her and also in support of alex's lemonade stands and the fight against childhood cancer? and this year you have a really large group participating? >> forty peoplement anselm mower who couldn't be here, but supported us through our fundraising, so i would say probably all total 80 to 100, basically today, or in spirit with us. >> and, you know, an event like this, or a cause like this. really not that hard to find people to donate and fundraise. >> the staff very passionate, very creative, how they use

cooler air is there, but none of it is as cool as it was yesterday at this point. storm scan3, notice, the clouds, especially, as you move through new jersey, they're thicker, but as tim said, moving off the coast, and we expect to see that trend continuing. and the clearing skies, that he would see to the west of philadelphia, starting to move in. warmer than yesterday, high pressure here, staying around, winds will be light, weather on its best behavior, could be little warmer and in fact weather will be doing that by the time we get to monday, we could be at 60, maybe even 61 degrees. let's take the knot so rosey glow, and 59 degrees monday, but still we could be cracking that 60 degrees mark, and we should definitely be able to do that by the time we get to tuesdayment and move several degrees into the 60s, maybe 65 degrees, for veterans day. so, thing start to improve. and also, improving, our weather, do you see a cloud at

midnight? or even at noon? it is possible. and we're going to be watching for couple of clouds, and that should be it. the general trends is that these clouds get out of here today and they stay away tomorrow, by tuesday, and wednesday, they might start to come in, again, system well to the south that could be throwing some of these clouds back, at this point, tuesday, and wednesday, look to be dry. but obviously we all know the weather by now, and that is subject to change. at this point say first part of the week nice and warm and then this is a second part of the week, late in the week, the colds air starts to spill down. and i know everybody's been talking about this, high temperatures will be in the 40's, thursday, friday, and saturday, maybe even sunday, too. lows will be in the 30's, as this colder air comes in. so it is not like we're looking at afternoons in the 20's. they'll be in the 40's, and that is a big change particularly when we go from a day with readings that are about 60 degrees on wednesday, to a day with temperatures in the 40's, as you'll see on the seven day forecast. otherwise, today in the 50's, philadelphia shore, poconos,
