front door as first responders came here, he told only us, how his family survived, he can exposed to lethal levels of carbon monoxide. >> i'm just thankful, glad to be feeling normal again. >> reporter: still wearing a hospital gown joseph langford told only "eyewitness news" he is thankful his family ace live after a near natal exposure early monday morning. >> my wife was complaining about stomach aches so i called 911 to her. and, then as it turns out i started passing out. >> reporter: when emergency responders arrive langford's wife ann and six year-old daughter isabel were unconscious in the living room. joseph fell to the floor in convulsions headily after opening the front door. >> all i remember is opening the main door, and, then i passed out, and i came in and opened the screen door. >> reporter: fire officials fell co levels of 900 parts per million or five times the normal limit of exposure.

>> 900 part per million, and dang. >> and convulsions within a few minutes of exposure. >> fire officials believe a faulty heater may have caused the house to fill with carbon monoxide. langford's the par to a church of christ in wins low township credits god with saving his family. he says they are recovering fine but what didn't protect the langford's was a carbon monoxide detector. the the fire department says they didn't find any in the house. officials say is there an extremely important lesson to learn, make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors. >> if they did not have medical emergency or call 911 when they did it could have been fatal. >> reporter: fire tenth actually installed a carbon monoxide detector for the langford's after ventilating their house. they say it is safe as taras being clear of carbon monoxide but langford's can't return home until they have their heater check by a licensed technician. we are live from winslow township, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> cleve, thanks very much.

some new developments in this fiery crash, we're now hearing from the philadelphia police officer pulled from the burning squad car by two good smart tans. cruisers burst into flames after colliding with a pick up, and the officer was trapped. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live from south philadelphia where he just spoke with that officer, walt. >> reporter: jessica, less than 48 hours after officer mark kensie was trapped in that burning police car he made his way in the 17th district behind me on crutches this afternoon, a bruce on his head showing where he suffered a concussion, his girlfriend at his side and told a remarkable story of survival, and the two good smart tans, who saved his life. >> i remember it was just kind of waking up and seeing that the air bag had deployed and vehicle was on fire. >> reporter: officer mark kensie recalled flames getting ever closer, as he sat trapped behind his air bag, in his wrecked and burning patrol car. following a collision, with another vehicle.

from montgomeryville with more on that story, justin. >> reporter: authorities say their operation cross hairs rounded up some five suspects and one critical one, andrew rocco, who is accused of break nothing to those two gun stores and stealing those weapons. all the while authorities say out on bail on drug charges. he has a new bail, $1 million, hundred grand for each of the ten guns that they say are still out there. leaving court with a one million-dollar cash bail andrew rocco, stayed silent as he was driven off to the montgomery county jail. saying nothing about the illegal buyers of his guns, authorities say, that he stole. rocco, an electrician by trade is accused of tripping alarms to break inside two gun stores over the summer. allegedly stealing two guns and one rifle from dell's firearms in hatfield in june and nearby lansdale, four glock handguns, two revolvers, one rifle, one shotgun and this 9-millimeter handgun from modern technical back in july.

that gun and this 33 caliber rugger from dell had been recovered. >> but ten more guns are out there and they are dangerous and we hope that they can be recovered without injury. >> reporter: back on november 3rd there was a near in miss in norristown involving this handgun says montgomery d.a. reese vet ri furhman there seven were shell casings recovered from the course of the shooting. one bullet struck a wall and was less than 3 feet from where an eight year-old child was sitting. >> reporter: with help from police in hatfield norristown and lansdale, furhman says that authorities have had success. tracking that handgun in norristown to franklin lemar butler who later id's rocker as a seller. forty-four caliber was traced to james molba who identified rocker and the seller. purchase price for both weapons, $500. now, both of those men are facing charges of possession of a stolen gun, monk other charges. now rocco did also identify

another straw buyer but that man turned up dead in philadelphia last month. he is due back in court, rocco is, on november 24th. live from montgomeryville i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". coatsville area school district completes its internal investigation after a kindergartener survived abuse that killed his little brother. three-year eld scottie mcmilan was murdered by his mother and her three friends in a trailer in west caln township. scottie's brother ryan has been absent from school for two weeks. the district maintains that staffers were not aware of any abuse. now coatsville area school district superintendent, doctor kathy taschner released a statement saying whenever a child is absent our staff tries to make contact with the parents to determine the reason for the absence, through phone calls, written communication and eventually a home visit to the residents. we have on record. all of those procedures were

fifteen missing hikers who failed to return as scheduled have been rescued near pasadena, california. members of the church group were reported missing after last night after not returning from a hike in eat on canyon park. a all 15 people ranging from age from 14 to 36 were found in good health and ultimately rescued by a helicopter. they have been reunited with their families. a suicide bomber dressed like a student set i have an explosive during morning assembly in nigeria. forty-eight students between the ages of 11 and 20 were killed as a town in northeast nigeria. seventy-nine others were hurt. the militant group book a horam is suspected but no one has accepted responsibility. suicide bombing killed 35 people in the aim town last week. that nurse from maine who defied ebola quarantine orders insist that americans need to know more about the virus. casey hick ox broke quarantine by leaving her home along the canadian border.

respiratory depression where they are not breathing and they may require intubation and put on the ventilator. >> reporter: that happened to one year-old alex rhode island y after swollen a pod last year. new study calls for a big ever effort to prevent exposure which could include improve product packaging and labeling. doctor weiner says parents also need to take precaution. >> you have to treat it just like your bleach, and other cleaning products thaw may put away, keep away from children. >> reporter: we reach out but got no reaction from proctor and gamble, maker of the tied pods. last year they introduced more child friendly packaging and offering free safety latch toes parents. also the consumer products safety commission says children should not aloud to handle the packets and advises parents to store them out of sight and reach of little children. one thing that was not in this study was dishwasher packets, stored under the sink. they could be more dangerous.

south jersey home appear to be much older than originally thought. contractors found those remains in late october while putting in a new pool at a home on bank avenue in riverton. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry picks up the store friday there. >> reporter: forensic experts have have only scratched surface when it comes to human remains found in burlington county. bones were discovered last month when a pool company started digging in a yard in riverton. they were about 6 feet in the ground. remains were taken to the state police forensic lab. there was autotomiesing. diana has been working as a an throw follow goodies for 30 years. >> basically putting a puzzle together. >> reporter: when they excavated the remains she was able to determine it could be more than 100 years old. >> they are very fragile. we have roots growing through the bones and through the dirt that is surrounding the body. >> reporter: and once donna finishes sifting through the

delaware here. you cane is there still water, draining from the car. they are getting ready to toe ate way. just before 4:00 o'clock police say a a 50 year-old man, in a dispute with a wife, who he may be getting a divorce from, took the car, it is his wife's car and drove it off the shore into the delaware river. he then left the scene here and then took off. witnesses saw him. they were able to give police a description. divers were in immediately dispatched to this location. it took them sometime but they were able to location the car. in about 30 feet of water. they say there was a a lot of debris down there and it was a very dark area, very difficult situation, for divers where they did put their lives in jeopardy making hure that no one was in fact inside that vehicle. they were able to pull it from the water a a few minutes ago. the corvette was empty. they are looking for that man. live
