we are following breaking news a woman found name and bruised and detectives are on the scene searching for clues. >> let get more right out to nicole brewer at the scene where homicide detectives and investigation is going on right now. nicole, good morning. >> reporter: investigation is still underway this morning. police got the call around 3:00 to the unit block of 53rd

street, to this home you see behind me. the 57 year-old resident inside took police in three mask and hood is struggled with her a six two-year old woman who was then found by, authorities on floor of the name and covered for bruises. she was pronounced dead at the scene. that 57 year-old was taken to the hospital on university of pennsylvania, treated for minor bruising. police admit that the story is questionable but they have to investigate this but right now it is all they have to go on. that account for the 57 year-old roommate who said three men with masks and hoodies tried to get in the home and we have no signs of forced entry. police are trying to figure out what went on here if, in fact, there was a robbery as a motive or not. they said it didn't appear this home was ransack at all. we did speak to a neighbor. she said she cannot imagine

that any within would want to harm that six two-year old woman found dead inside. that is very latest live from west philadelphia, nicole brewer, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> we will get back to you. we are following breaking news in southwest philadelphia, early morning fire damages three hems displacing several people on this cold morning. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins us live at that scene. good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee, good morning. fortunately no one was injured as a result but three hems have been damage, two destroyed because of the flames and at least five people have been displaced because of the fire. we are coming will to you live from florence avenue you where you you cane fire crews remained on the scene that ladder stretched to the top of the row homes there and they are making sure that the hot spots are remaining out and starting the fire investigation. this fire broke out just after 2:00 this morning in the 5500 block of florence avenue in king sessing. with fire crew is a arrived, they found an unoccupied row home on fire, crews were able

40's at best with sunshine, friday, saturday and sunday, and our next shot for showers comes sunday night with the new storm system that is set to arrive by monday. of course with the chance of the snow in the forecast tonight you are wondering what kind of winter are we looking at here? meteorologist kathy orr is here with what to expect in her winter annual forecast. >> many of us still have bad memories of last winter. it was second most snowy ever, and the cold. >> i don't like extreme cold anywhere any time. >> i could barely move. >> those bone chilling temperatures courtesy of the polar vortex. does that concern you. >> yes, i have heard that for months now and i'm dreading it and i'm in the ready for it. >> reporter: last year polar vortex put us in the deep freeze it hands when wind around north pole weaken and allow arctic air move south and it could happen again.

>> cold, cold, cold. >> reporter: tony gee is with the national weather service a and we discussed polar vortex and other global conditions like extensive snow cover in europe and ash right now and warmer waters in the eastern pacific is water known as el nino. >> pretty much as of today, indicating that it is going to be a colder and more snowy winter. >> reporter: winter will be colder than normal but in the right away, in december we will be right around average monthly high of 45 degrees. i expect at least a few cold shots but they won't last that long. january will be below normal average of 40 and february will be cold as well, with mercury averaging below normal high of 44. when it comes to snow each month will be above average, white christmas? well, there is a 30 percent chance, better than it usually is. we will get hit in january and february. that is when i expect two major east coast snowstorms.

updating our breaking news, a wan name and bruised found murdered in her own apartment, this is a story that continues to develop. >> "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us at that scene on north 53rd street with the very latest information, nicole, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to both of you. since we last spoke, erika the family of deceased six two-year old woman has arrived on the scene. they said they believed that she was actually murdered by her 57 year-old roommate the same woman whom police were

told gave the report that three men in masks and hoodies forced his way in the home, struggled with her and then that roommate then directed authorities to that woman the the six two-year old woman found inside the first floor bedroom lying name on the floor covered in bruises and pronounced dead at the scene. but again family just arriving here saying that is a total lie. there was in forced presidentry and that no break in and this woman the six two-year old woman deceased was murdered by her roommate. i'm told by darlene jones. you say you saw signs of abuse, you believe, by this 57 year-old woman who reported the incident to the six two-year old woman now deceased, what did you see. >> on the first of the month i seen her take her to cash her check, cashing her check and lady had a big black eye. we were looking at each other saying look at her eye and stuff. she would be hollering and screaming at her
