told gave the report that three men in masks and hoodies forced his way in the home, struggled with her and then that roommate then directed authorities to that woman the the six two-year old woman found inside the first floor bedroom lying name on the floor covered in bruises and pronounced dead at the scene. but again family just arriving here saying that is a total lie. there was in forced presidentry and that no break in and this woman the six two-year old woman deceased was murdered by her roommate. i'm told by darlene jones. you say you saw signs of abuse, you believe, by this 57 year-old woman who reported the incident to the six two-year old woman now deceased, what did you see. >> on the first of the month i seen her take her to cash her check, cashing her check and lady had a big black eye. we were looking at each other saying look at her eye and stuff. she would be hollering and screaming at her saying she

tired of cleaning up piss and throwing bleach out the door and cursing her out and stuff. >> reporter: do you believe this woman was in fact murdered by her roommate. >> i believe she did it because she was rowdy. every day he come out here hollering and screaming. yesterday she was out here hollering and screaming. i do believe she did it, without a doubt. >> darlene, thank you. the family believes the same that this woman, this deceased six two-year old woman was murdered by her roommate. police have have not confirmed any of this. this is all just information we have from the family as well as neighbors here on 53rd street in west philadelphia you can see more loved ones arriving here. unfortunate news that this woman, this six two-year old woman who lived inside this home was found dead inside of her bedroom covered in bruises. we should mention that roommate made the call to police, was taken to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania with minor bruising as well. we will try to update her

condition and get confirmation from police if in fact that roommate that 57 year-old woman will be treated as a suspect. that is very latest from west philadelphia, very sad scene, back to you in the studio. >> we will get back to you, thank you. 6:02. we are finally starting to feel effects of that polar vortex everybody is talking about. >> so different this morning. >> some parts of the region katie said could even see some snow. let check with the weather center. >> okay, katie, break it down. >> we have been talking about the possibility we would have a disturb an that could affect us here tonight and it does look like stars will align and we will get something out of this. here's the thing, we did see cold air make its arrival here and being very well represented here on the thermometer readings, however, by the time this disturbance moves in it may just not have enough cold air settled in for any snow that could possibly fall to have a chance to stick. let me walk you through here. we started off outside in the live at cape may courthouse and middletown ship high school. beautiful sunrise underway. we have a nice clear sky.

temperatures tell the story well, 36 degrees the current in cape may courthouse and we have seen very similar values around most of the region this morning with that nice clear sky but you can see some of that cloud cover starting to thicken up a bit to the west and north. it is like it is surrounding us to a degree here. there is two separate pieces. cold air. lake effect snow showers across the great lakes that helped feed this next batch of moisture that is sipping in from the south and west. so by tonight, possibly as early as late this afternoon generally towards sunset rain showers begin to funnel in but we are looking at rain showers for philadelphia, new jersey and delaware. but there will be a potential for wintry mix to go take place north and west of the city. outlying suburbs outside philadelphia and then especially up towards oh, say poconos or extreme northern edge of the lehigh valley, yes, you could, keyword, could see a light coating but it bob

on unpaved surfaces. around the region we will go here for rest of the day and it is colder out there but this is nothing like our neighbors in the central plains and front range of the rockies had to deal w that is where that core cold air has been set up, but we are feeling impacts at best here in philadelphia and not only well below average but it is a lot colder then yesterday was, vittoria, over to you. definitely a good idea to jump in your car earlier while your coffee is brewing to make sure that your vehicle will be nice and toasty because we are seeing delays sparking up on our majors and lets get outside and take a look. if you are traveling on i-95 you will note that is rush hour is heating up as you make your way out of the northeast down through the vine street expressway. southbound would be all of these headlights here and we are starting to see those pocket form around girard and cottman and that a has to do with the construction zones narrowing the roadway but this delay will only continue to grow, you know that. traveling north bound on i-95

no major delays out of center city. we are not seeing any problems in delaware county but we are starting to feel a touch of traffic build around the commodore barry bridge area as we continue into new jersey, 42 freeway traveling in the northbound direction, nothing major just a few more vehicles out there we are not seeing a long line of the rush just yet but it is coming. speed sensors looking good, high up in the 50's but we did get word of this accident jackknife tractor trailer accident on the southbound side of the northeast extension between lansdale, and mid county toll plaza. we have been getting some interesting reports of all lanes blocked, right lane blocked, as of right now expect lane blockages and we will have more details coming into us, ukee. we will continue to follow breaking news in southwest philadelphia, five people displaced after flames spread from an empty home in king sessing. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins with us more information, good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee good morning. i was able to speak to the man

next to the home, that is a trouble home, where people do drugs. he has called l and i a number of times to come out here and tear this home down. we are coming to you live from florence after knew where this fire started. that is the corner home this man's sister lives in the home next door. two homes in total are completely destroyed, a third suffered damage because of the fire and five people are now displaced. this fire broke out just after 2:00 this morning in the 5500 block of florence avenue in king sessing. fire crew is a arrived they found an unoccupied row home on fire. crews were able to get those flames under control in 30 minutes but fire had spread to the neighboring home and a third home was damaged by the flames. in all, five people are displayed this morning lug three adults and two teenagers but again, fortunately the silver lining is that there were no injuries the cause of this fire is under investigation, if you come back out here live on the scene you can see philadelphia fire department is still on

the scene just to make sure there are no hot spots still out there. they are also wrapping up the gear as we speak. i was just able to speak with one of the homeowners of one of the homes destroyed. he said where this fire started is a trouble home, where people went to do drugs. we will have more as soon as we get it, we are live, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". also developing this morning a off-duty septa bus driver is critically injured after getting caught in the cross fire of the gun battle in south philadelphia. officers responded to sixth and winton street just before 8:00 last night. eyewitnesses say the 56 year-old bus driver visits that neighborhood often to check on his mother. a 35 year-old man was also shot. he died at the hospital. investigators say driver of this car dragged a philadelphia police officer several feet in north philadelphia last night and it happened during a car stop at 21st and oxford. officer fired one shot at the car before it got away.

police located empty koran north lambert street a short time later. authorities identified a man who turned up at jefferson hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm as the driver. the officer only suffered minor bumps and bruises. new this morning police overloadedded train car caused a conrail freight train to get stuck under a overpass. septa says the morning commute on regional rail lines will not be affect. this happened on fifth street on allegheny and clear field just before 10:00 last night, in injuries reported. happening today a public hearing on violence in camden, study commissioned on violence will be taking questions and comments from community members at rutgers university campus center. camden was named country's most dangerous city earlier this year. in the past past week alone four people gunned down in the series of unrelated shootings. tonight's meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. also happening today philadelphia city council will

man accused of ditching his estrange wife's corvette has been a rain. "eyewitness news" was there as john crammer surrendered to police at northeast detectives. crammer admitted to driving a red corvette in the delaware two days ago and he wanted his minivan from his estranged wife and was frustrated with a three-year divorce process. crammer is facing several charges and he blames episodes on his bipolar disorder. a turkish youth group is thought to be behind the

woman in her 60's is found dead inside her west philadelphia apartment overnight that woman was found name and covered in bruises. "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us at that scene on north 53rd street with the latest information, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ukee and erika. family of that deceased six two-year old woman is on the scene and they are making some serious allegation about what went down inside their aunt's home here on 53rd street this west philadelphia they are claiming that their aunt was abused by her roommate,

and any ransacking inside the home. police admit the 57 year-old break in story is questionable and they are now interviewing family members and neighbors, who again, at the the hands of her roommate. >> i call the cops myself a few times to try to get that woman out of that house. they never did anything. she kept abusing her. >> reporter: and back here live you can see homicide and, on the scene, and they are searching the home and they have surveillance video here in the area, which will let them know, if that breaking story, of the three mask in men did enter, that home.

an early morning fire displaced five people after flames damaged several home in southwest philadelphia jan carabao joins us live from that scene where she's learning more information about the home from the neighbors, good morning. >> erika, and ukee good morning. i spoke with the man who owns the home next to the abandoned home where this started and he ace that home is a trouble home where people often go to do drugs. now this morning, two homes are destroyed by fire, a third has been damaged and in all five people displaced. there has been some movement on the scene. one of the fire trucks has pulled out as this fire investigation, continues this morning. now this all happened, on the 5400 block of florence avenue, in king sessing, it wreck out around 2:00 o'clock this morning. now when fire crew as arrived they found an unoccupied row home on fire. crews got that fire under control in about 30 minutes but the fire had already spread to two neighboring homes, again, five people are displayed this morning,

including three adults and two teenagers. woman lives next door to the abandoned home, where this fire started, she woke to use the bathroom and that is when she noticed smoke. her brother owns that home and her entire family is shaken up this morning but they were also angry, take a listen. >> they should have tore that house down a long time ago. somebody got shot ape killed in that house. now that house is still standing. now i lost my house because that house is still standing. >> reporter: back out here on the scene, now that it is brighter this morning you can see all of the damage left behind. you can see fire crew is still on the scene going in and out. l and i is on the scene as well, we're all taking a look at the damage left behind. this is all part of the cause investigation as well but the silver lining here this morning is that there were no injuries. we are looking into the the background of this abandoned house, and as soon as we get more information, to that we will bring it to you. we are live in king sessing, jane carabao, on cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

over ben franklin bridge we have a major problem. overturn tractor trailer compromising a few lanes and causing a backup all the way 676 admiral wilson boulevard. even trying to make its way back to the 42 freeway. that is the length of this morning's delay. again if you are traveling westbound on the been, an overturn tractor trailer is compromising two lanes and now they have to upright that tractor trailer. that will take time. as we approach 7:00 a.m. we are at the brink of a rush hour. take a look at the toll plaza trying to make your way, up on to the ben franklin bridge. just try to avoid it if you can. also on the platt bridge we are dealing with the disable truck blocking right-hand lane heading down towards skew you kill expressway from i-95 and expect usual rush hour delays on i-95, 76, 476 and 422 eastbound, ukee. >> vittoria, thank you. updating our breaking news. police are investigating discovery of a badly bruised woman in hsr apartment in west philadelphia the roommate of
