center, kathy. >> we're talking about the cold and rain, pretty raw out there in philadelphia. but moving to the north and west where we have cold are air in place we have change over to sleet and now snow in many locations. right now in philadelphia a 41 degrees. thirty-eight in trenton. thirty-six in allentown. as we go farther north and west we will get into close to freezing temperatures and that is where we are seeing the snow. here's what to expect this evening. mainly rain showers in philadelphia, possibly briefly ending as some wet snow during the early morning hours, sleet and snow in the north and west we're talking about a grass coating to the north and west and left over icy patches, anywhere we are seeing precipitation. best chance of eag that grass coating is north and west of the city and heading toward allentown, reading, berks county, poconos seeing a half inch to an inch of snow and then that means we are starting winter just a little bit early. so that is a look at the forecast from here. our kate bilo is live with the

mobil weather lab in the snow, kate, i have to say i'm a little bit excited about this. >> you know kathy, it is fun to see these first flakes because most of them are not sticking to the roads so it doesn't mean real treacherous travel a across the area but sets that winter scene. we are here in what claims to be world's largest general store country junction on route 209 between lehighton and heading up toward mount pocono area. you can see snow is falling heavily. you can see that car behind me. they have been sitting there a while and that carries completely covered in snow. we have been here a while as well. cbs-3 mobil weather lab covered with a coating of snow at 11/12. little early for that but it is really pretty out here. temperatures have dropped very close to freezing. it took a while for to us see flakes. rain changed to snow as we made it up towards poconos and you can see here on the mobile weather lab it is currently 32.9 degrees, just hovering above freezing but cold enough in the upper levels of the

atmosphere to cause this snow to fall and fall it is, look at these flakes, as they hit, the jacket, they melt very, very quickly. the roads should be okay. we are seeing a grassy coating here in the pocono area. as temperatures drop below freezing as the kathy mentioned some ice spots are possible but it looks like this is just a picturesque snowfall here in mid-november to set the scene for this cold out break. reporting live from the pocono region i'm meteorologist kate bilo for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> i know you are loving every minute of it out there, thanks very much. you can check any forecast anytime you like if you have cbs philly weather app available for you now in itunes and from google play. a septa police officer is okay after a violent even count tore day his bike was hit by a car and then dragged in the olney transportation center. investigators say the officer stopped a car in the bus lanes this afternoon, when he got off the bike and asked the driver for i did the, the

driver took off and ran over the bike. the officer was not injured. police are searching for the the driver and three passengers that ditched that car near conlin street. another close call here this for some trenton police officers, bullets came through windshield of their suv today. officers returned fire on wilson street, killing a suspect. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live for news trenton with more on what happened, david. >> reporter: i just left police headquarters there was a news conference that suspect is darnell stafford, 31 year-old he is dead, the officers robert, and marlon parrot both 13 and four year veterans with the department. >> bullets in the squad car windshield tell a violent story. >> you never come to work hoping to be involved in this type of an incident but it is, a threat that is always there. >> reporter: trenton police director ernest perry says emotions were high when officers found out two of

their own were involved in the shooting on wilson street, just after 7:00 o'clock this morning. perry says that two officers got a tip about a man walking around with a gun. they pulled up on the scene and he says the suspect began firing. >> they were heavy gunshots this he they weren't like 22's or anything like. that i know gunfire because i have heard it so many time. >> reporter: maureen turner is no strange tore violence. she has lived here 40 years and said her grandson 18 year-old james was gun down a few hundred feet from this officer involved shooting. >> i want the world to stop with the guns. >> reporter: both officers made it out of the car, suspect the shot on the scene. he later tied at a trenton hospital. the officers also taken to the hospital for evaluation, but they are expect to make a full recovery. >> they put their lives on the line day in and day out. >> i asked director perry if his officers would be suspended with pay, he said absolutely not. he was adamant that the shooting was justified and

those officers will undergo counseling and will be back to work as soon as possible. we are live from trenton, david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". tonight breaking news charged with terrorism, new charges filed begins suspect trooper killer eric frein. prosecutors added those two terrorism charges after frein told him he wanted to quote wake people up. authorities say a thumb drive blank to go frein contained a letter that spoke of the revolution. frein is accused of killing a pennsylvania state trooper and wounding another in september. "eyewitness news" has learned that the fbi's elite behavioral analysis unit will create a criminal profile of accused kidnapper delvin barnes. investigators are hoping to determine if he has attack other women. meanwhile city council honored citizens and detectives credited with helping save the victim. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter was there. >> raise the roof for the philadelphia police department and their hard work.

>> reporter: there was a standing ovation for police officers and civilians who rescued 22-year old carlesha gaither from her accused kidnapper delvin barnes charged with dragging her off a germantown street and holding her captive for three agonizing days, accommodation and hand a shakes for dwayne fletcher whose call to police may have helped save her life. >> my daughter's hero, my hero. if it wasn't for him my daughter wouldn't be here right now. >> it was a beautiful ending. >> reporter: student cheering for detective james sloan and fellow philadelphia investigators whose non-stop pursuit, brought barnes to justice. >> thank god, thank the citizens, thank everybody that everything just clicked. >> reporter: sources tell cbs-3 a criminal profile of barnes is now being created by the fbi's elite behavioral analysis unit, which specializes in determining if suspects could be serial offenders, responsible for still more crime.

franklin. he started this tight with the kite and the key and boy have we run with that invention. so just a terrific time, come on down, at sixth and race and you will love it and instantly be in that holiday spirit. reporting live at franklin square, carol erickson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". we are certainly in the winter spirit up here in the pocono region in lehighton, carbon county and it is snowing, snowing pretty steadily and big flat flakes. temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, we will get wet snow, thick flakes, we have got that gracy coating we can tell but in the lehigh ton area as you you can see, a half inch in a couple spots here. it has been snowing steadily here for the pass hour of two and as we walk over to the mobile weather lab you can see what i mean. look up in the streetlight and take a look at those flakes, country junction some christmas music playing in the background and it feels like

it is december, between the second inn ted of the middle of november. we drove up here with the mobile weather lab, new roads are fine they are just wet, traffic is moving okay, just a picturesque keen feeling like mid winter as we enjoy first flakes of the season, up here in the poconos and we will send it inside to kathy and you are right, it is exciting and gets you in the winter mood kind of. >> especially because it is not so cold, little bit more comfortable out there. >> that is right. >> thanks very much. >> we are looking at our eyewitness weather watcher reports and they are amazing so thank you to all of our watchers out there first we will start on the new jersey identify where we are seeing rain, kathy says 42 degrees, raining and it is raw out there. lets go over here though to the pennsylvania side where we are seeing some colder conditions. donna is saying it is 36 degrees in kenneth square, just beginning to snow, prewinter weather bundle up. look at this picture she sent here is outdoor patio set snow

south and east as we see colder air work its way in. you can see cold temperatures in allentown, reading, lancaster, poconos, still on the milder side relatively speaking but trenton is getting there at 38 degrees. a as we zoom in you cane in quakertown a mix there. in pottstown, seeing some sleet mixing in with snow at this point. future weather shows that snow progressing in the suburbs and then during overnight philadelphia possibly seeing a little bit of wintry mix before it end. by the time sun comes out the snow will be long gone but we may see ice patch's cross the region. between now and 10:00 snow north and west, philadelphia a chance in the overnight and northern delaware and new jersey suburbs as well before that ends, we could see a few flakes. see accumulation on the grass surfaces to the north and west of the city with the poconos seeing an accumulation. the ever night 34 degrees, during the day tomorrow but cold high of 45 and on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast take a look at this temperatures will be
