. >> a cold wet morning, and katie has the forecast for you in just abient. first, we have two major breaking stories for this morning. one person killed in a fire at a philadelphia home, and four police officers injured trying to douse those flames. we'll have the very latest on their conditions coming up in a live report. if i, pope francis is officially coming to philadelphia, vatican made the announcement just about an hour ago. it is monday, november 17th, good morning, everyone, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehlment back to the major breaking news, vatican pope francis is coming to philadelphia. >> the pontiff visited this part of the world meeting of

families set for next september. jan carabeo joins us now inside the archdioces offices in center city. jan, good morning. >> reporter: ukee, erika, good morning, that's right, mark the calendars, pope francis will be here in philadelphia next september for the world meeting of families, that announcement made earlier today while the plans aren't yet finalized he is expected to be here on the 25th through the 27th, for closing event. now, this has been a long time coming this announcement, and the pope made it this morning in rome. the philadelphia delegation of the world meeting with families, see them earlier here in rome when delegation from pennsylvania was there. now, details of the papal visit will be released in the spring or the summer of next year, but the archdioces announced today it is likely the pope will participate in a event called the festival of families, on saturday, september 26, and papal mass on sunday the 27th.

both event are open to the public and both will be held on the ben franklin parkway in the heart of philadelphia. this will be a huge event, you may remember, visit by pope john paul ii in 1979, through 1 million people to the parkway. now, this morning, archbishop chaput made this statement reading in part i am owe overjoyed by the pope's announcement he will join us with for the world meeting of families in philadelphia next year, hallmark of his papacy focus on many challenges that families face today globally, carries i can ma, presence and voice will electrify the gathering, for the world meeting of families next september. much more throughout the day, but for now, live in center city. >> it is official, thank you tonight repeat pope francis confirms his visit to philadelphia, expected arrival friday september 25th. again he has at least two public events scheduled both set for the ben franklin parkway friday, september the

the delaware valley as we continue to track this storm system, so you can see the low clouds hanging down here, across the center city skyline, obviously the sheen on the roadways, little mess, even just to get the morning started out there. we do have quite a bit of wet weather ability tiff at this going on locally, as women. we go next to storm scan3, show you what's happening there. where we continue to see these rounds every rain. now, there are some spots already seeing little bit after lull. i want to put things into motion. granted it looks like there is a back edge to this, the problem is, there might and little lull along the way, but this is just the beginning. even if you are lucky in enough to catch a break mid-morning, this will be an event that's with us most of the day actually looks like the heaviest rain comes this afternoon. what is this? yep, a winter weather advisory, folks, strictly for the poconos, just a rain event, for the rest of the delaware vale but we do have winter weather advisories up until 9:00 a.m. we need the temperatures to climb. dealing with some sleet, perhaps rain on con tack, if

too far get onto 89 a from this point moving forward. over on the ben franklin bridge, shiny roadways, from the jersey side, from the toll plaza headed westbound into the city no real volume or accumulation so far. moving along great. the rest of the majors although little slippery pretty much clear so far on 422 from oaks into 202, seven minute trip, 17 minutes into the vine st. expressway. over into new jersey, actually an accident, jersey turnpike, just around exit two, blocking outright hand lane, which is route 322. now, house fire on 17 street closing it at westmoreland street. your alternate to get around that so far just take 15th street. septa, new jersey transit, dart, running on time, no delays at the philadelphia international airport. ukee, good morning. >> thank you, more breaking news, three people are in the hospital this morning after a fire breaks out in north philadelphia. the call came in firefighters got the call around 2:30 this morning, to the 3,000 block of

north 17th street, firefighters rescued four people from a porch roof. we're told that fire is now under control, it is not yet clear how it all started. >> well, president obama denounces isis after its execution of american -- >> the president said the group is quote bent on selling debt and destruction, captured in syria little more than year ago. the 26 year old former army ranger turned aid worker converted to islam. he changed his name to abdul ram and, while in captivity. now, unlike previous isis videos there is one did not show him alive before the beheading. >> this video that we have seen here, if verified sacks tragic reminder of the savagery and of isis and the complexity of our challenge. >> in this isis video, a mask man who speaks with a british accent also warrants isis will attack americans on us streets. >> we're hearing from one of two police officers credited

with saving a ten year old boy's life in delaware county. police say a child that child accidentally shot himself in the face while sitting in his father's car in darby township saturday night. officer stephen mumo of the sioban hill police department helped revive the boy, while folcroft officer drove to nearby hospital. >> we deal with tragedy every day. when there is a child involved, it is hard, but fortunately your training kicks, in you don't think about that and you just do what you are supposed to do. >> the boy remains in guarded but stable condition at children's hospital. there is no word on if any charges will be filed against that boy's father. >> police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in delaware county. the unidentified rider pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a suv just before 7:00 last night in media. the driver that far suv stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police. it is not clear this morning what caused that accident. >> meanwhile, police in philadelphia say an illegal drag race ended with one man

dead. the car crashed into an utility pole at columbus boulevard and east oregon in south philly. the 32 year old man was the only person in the vehicle. >> one by one, a helicopter removes the iconic pnb bank letters from a high-rise. demolition crews returned to the former philadelphia national bank building on south broad street right by city hall sunday morning. contractors first removed three of the 16-foot tall letters back in august. life-long residents welcomed the change. >> philadelphia is doing a lot of new things, so i guess that's good for the city. >> those giant letters had been in place since the 19 50's. >> well, a crushing defeat for the eagles at the hand after nfc rival. the birds lost 53 to 20 yesterday, dan rogers and the greenbay packers. mark sanchez was not as sharp as woe have likes in his second start for the injured nick foles, but can't be to blame for beating the birds took on the other side of the ball. greenbay took it to the team in all three phases, full

going on today, definitely the most active day of weather but there are definitely implications down the road here. we've had pretty steady rain moving through for the most part, you see how little lull on the back edge of this, mainly seeing the rain at this point through new jersey, you can't necessarily rest assured that this is out of here, folks. this entire eastern seaboard will be hit with something before the days all said and done. and the bulk of this system actually still moving through west virginia it, will eventually sort of slide through our region, society worse in terms of the heaviest rain yet to come. obviously some snow, we don't have to worry about this, that this time around, thank goodness, strictly rain making event for philly. but maybe be sleet and freezing rain specific to the poconos spot that may have wintery weather why actually winter weather advisory supposed through this morning until 9:00 a.m. future rain ability tell the story, soggy watered log spawn day. inch. precipitation, the thing you got to keep in mind, there are

4:53, let's get traffic and weather together. >> good morning, 4:53, we go outside right now and check out a situation here, an overturned truck, actually 95 southbound to the left-hand side of that. this is actually the onramp from market street. so take front, or girard,

because right now that's closed. you can see, flashing lights right here, so police activity on the scene trying to get that cleaned up and out of the way so we can use that little later on in the morning. now, over on 202, at the schuylkill expressway, see moth much in the way of volume here. so the northbound lanes moving great. southbound, doing so the same. now, over on 422 from oaks into 202 eastbound, still clear shot there, will only take you about seven minutes, 14 minutes, on the schuylkill expressway if you're headed eastbound from the blue route into the vine street expressway. now, there is an accident out in new jersey on the new jersey turnpike northbound at exit two, that's route 322, so, that's pushed over into the right-hand side. you can be prepared to squeeze on by to the left-hand side. now i hear katie has some news over in the weather center there. >> absolutely, good morning, jess, this will mean traffic and weather together go hands in hand on a day like there is because dealing with rain for both commutes today, morning and afternoon, and pretty much any time inbetween here. so, let's take a look at why it is obvious, right in very

large storm system brinking in some pretty significant snow through portions of northern new england, back even into northeastern arkansas. for us strictly rain making storm, unless you go to the poconos, that's where you may see some sleet, freezing rain mix in until the temperatures climb. for the rest every us expect just periods of rain, may be little brief lull mid-morning, or i would say, actually, mid commute here, between say six to eight armor so. but as the day progresses another slug of moisture comes in, and we will be dealing with some pretty heavy rain. now behind this system which starts to clear out later tonight, we are going to see these temperatures drop. what we are looking at here is our feature feels like value t won't feel any better than the teens for the better part of the day. you may get one hour in philly where it feels like it is actually 20 degrees, but the rest of the day, it is feeling like the teens. now, technically, our thermometer readings should still hit low 30's, but this will be a shock to the system here. you're dropping over 20 degrees, in one fell swoop. and then the fact that that winds will make it feel so
