>> now to king of prussia where snow accumulated on cars, also on grassy surfaces, and shoppers picking up those last minute, items, for grocery store about to let mother nature, get in our way. in doylestown, they are bundled up against the winter chill today, you need that had winter coat if you were going to spend anytime outside today, some even busted out the shovel to clear the sidewalks. good evening, thanks for being with us i'm chris may. i'm jessica dean. we have live team three coverage of the first snowstorm of the season. from allentown to chester county and many areas in between. we will start with meteorologist kathy orr for latest storm forecast,. >> we are still seeing light snowfall and you can see to the south and east, still seeing rain, colder air,

and in chadds ford 2.5 inches of snow. within the the next couple of hours, and snow and rain coming to and he, temperatures steady, rising after the precipitation end, and then, we will be seeing gusty wind, winds gusting to 20 or 25 miles an hour. our kate bilo is live in college will with the mobile weather lab. how are conditions going on

there. >> kathy, snow has started to fall again, we are seeing big, fat wet flakes once again falling in collegeville, started as rain and then turned into a wintry mix. we are on the side streets here, we are still seeing a lot of, slush, and a a lot of big puddles but also that heavy wet snow piling up on the roads. things are slippery. if you have a car not great in the snow we will be dealing with slippery conditions, on the back an inside streets. take a look the on the roads this evening, wet slushy conditions, slippery especially north and west where we are, collegeville, trooper, eagle vice, and, falling precipitation, it is slowing around right now. black ice right now, as temperatures drop below freezing. back on the cbs-3 mobile weather lab we are turning on a main street, right by ursinus college and snow is falling and those big flakes coming down, and main roads are wet at this hour which is good news for anyone who has to make a last minute grocery store run before the thanksgiving holiday. live from collegeville, i'm kate bilo in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab.

expect to be on the road most of the day. >> we probably should have left yesterday but we're going to pick up that day and drive them right back home. >> reporter: as sunsets, temperature dropped, and meaning roads could quickly become slick over the next few hours. >> it just got bad the last 15 miles or so. it will get worse as we head up north. >> reporter: right now we are seeing about 3 inches of snow, temperatures just above freezing, roads slushy, not frozen, going outside tonight, police say just be careful and get to your destination safely. we are live, david spunt, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". lets go live to "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter in paoli chester county. what is latest on the snow's impact there, walt. >> reporter: jessica, nine hours after it started the snow continues to fall, here in chester county. we're on lancaster avenue in paoli. right now this road surface most of the others here just a little bit slushy, not

terribly slippery. biggest event out here all day may not have been on the roads but up in the skies where we saw and were jolted by lightening and thunder in a rare occurrence of thunderstorm snow. it was rush hour, at high noon, and as the falling flakes, child, driving ambitions. folks heading home early from schools and businesses. >> the flakes are coming down. they are pretty thick but a as long as you take your time we want to get in, get out back home and get ready for thanksgiving. >> reporter: amtrak and septa trains filled quickly with thanksgiving travelers. >> i have to wait but, you know, better than driving and sitting in traffic. >> reporter: as walking and driving became more dicey, the holiday riders thoughts turned to warmer places. >> i could do without, frankly i would rather be on the beach or caribbean. >> reporter: the hope, a coating of snow for thanksgiving, isn't a indicator of what is ahead. >> not a good time for rest of the winter i don't think, not

here early and get salt down to keep roads clear so nobody slips, and falls report report thanksgiving ice is a bad thing. >> i'm sure it will get colder. >> reporter: last minute shoppers were picking up everything from pies, to a ready to heat up dinner. they drove the rain/snow line here in montgomery county, without missing a beat. >> just enjoying every moment of the holiday, the weather and there is no traffic, which is nice. >> reporter: day before thanksgiving rush, happened a day earlier. >> yesterday was probably the busiest day. >> reporter: 11,000 pounds of yams sold in one day. >> it is a great season, look at the snow we got. >> reporter: right now here in king of prussia we are experiencing a little bit of wintry mix, again, concern is that the reds will become dangerous. if you do have last minute things thaw need to buy, wait until tomorrow morning. reporting live from king of prussia, pat ciarrocchi, cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

>> good advice, thanks, pat. right now new jersey is under a state of emergency as the storm dumped snow and heavy rain across the state. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan is live in cherry hill where turnpike is pack on this prethanksgiving travel day, cleve. >> reporter: new jersey officials are thankful that the widening project on the new jersey turnpike came in under budget and travelers, are thankful that it was complete by the time they made their thanksgiving road trips. >> i went around, rather would have stayed home. >> reporter: al ban toy delaware jack would not miss family on thanksgiving. >> it was pretty wide opened. >> reporter: it is good way to describe the newly expanded new jersey turnpike. starting a couple weeks ago it is six lanes in each direction from east brunswick to burlington county. >> that was great. three lanes were dead stopped but we were smooth sailing. >> reporter: thanks to the divide even between extra lane and afternoon accident impact half of the south bun drivers. >> it work out well for folks on the other side of the

"eyewitness news" was there at 66th and ogontz today. police say two people were taken to the hospital, there is no word yet on their condition. breaking news tonight at 6:00 a startling development in the search for missing pennsylvania mother. she disappeared, while running errands and today we have learned jessica paget was murdered allegedly ny a family member. we will continue to keep an eye on the storm tonight, chester county, just one area where you may need some shovels to dig out on thanksgiving eve.

blakelee, and there was enough snow up there to get snow blower out. kathy will have a look at that and full forecast in about two minutes from right now. >> breaking news tonight a end to the search for miss would go man in northampton county. her body was fund today. as our matt rivers tells us the suspect is her father. >> reporter: police delivered the news no one wants to hear announce ago this three three-year old yes, sir contact paget was found dead. district attorney john morgannellie a says her stepfather, gregory graft, has been charge with her murder. >> during an interviews with the investigators he did admit he intentionally and knowingly caused the death of the rick tim at his home, and he related that he utilized a firearm, to cause the victim's death, and that he then took the victim's body and, disposed of it on his property. >> reporter: volunteers had been searching for days for missing mother of three handing out flyers, organizing search parties and creating a

facebook group that gathered thousands of members. her stepfather took part in the search parties despite knowing he had dumped her body behind a shed on his property according to police. stunned by the news paget family asked that a statement be read by police on their behalf. >> we are devastated by the loss of jessica. she was a beautiful, vibrant young woman who was beloved by her family and friend. the world shines less bright today. >> reporter: district attorney says this case could be a capitol murder case if discovered during the course of jessica paget's autopsy that she was, in fact, sexually assaulted during the the commission of this crime. we're in easton, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". we have an eye on a storm that is wining up and slowly moving out, and in the next couple of hours, we will see this precipitation really tapering off, and coming to an end. now right new we are looking at cold temperatures, building into the delaware valley, it is 33 degrees in lansdale.

opportunities this winter. our live mobile weather lab is in collegeville montgomery county, driving through some areas roads that are wet, looked good right now. you can see snow piled up on the sides there. we will be seeing temperatures falling below freezing overnight in collegeville montgomery county, so please be aware of that especially into thanksgiving morning. our eyewitness cam takes to us new britain pa where you can see the snow, too heavy for those tree limbs, knocking down tree limbs but right now power lines look good, you have to make that pumpkin pie tonight. thanks to ron in new britain. we are looking at snow accumulations anywhere between nearly an inch in warminster, all the way up to 8 inches in the poconos, elverson 4.9, perkasie 3.5, souderton 3 inches in warminster. just .8 of an inch of snow. storm scan three you can see this darker purple moving toward the the east right along this northeast extension, as you go towards allentown and as we zoom in you'll see this is where we

have heavier snow through norristown, west goshen, moving towards the east. buckingham, abington, even philadelphia you could get in on a little burst of wet slushy snow in the next hour or so and then moving out of here. philadelphia 36. 34 degrees in allentown. thirty in the poconos. going closer, quakertown and doylestown hovering right around freezing. the wind continue out of the north/northwest and between ten and 20 miles an hour as you head toward the shore. so this northwesterly component tells us that our storm system that is parallel to south jersey is slowly moving north east in a way so we are getting into that northwesterly win. during the day on thursday we will watch this upper low bringing a stray sprinkle but otherwise temperatures around 40. thirty's for black friday. it will be cold, 40's for saturday improving conditions. overnight low temperatures around freezing, so watch out for icy spots tomorrow for thanksgiving, 40 degrees, and of course you will want to have dessert right around kick off at 4:30 as birds take on
