♪ >> now at 11:00, crews working that keep the roads clear as we head into the overnight hours with temperatures dropping. wet conditions can freeze and that means icy conditions on the roads tonight. and piling up in the poconos. one of the areas hit hardest by our latest storm at jack frost/big boulder it looks like a winter wonderland tonight. >> all of this as a result of a day of wintry weather across the

area. we really saw it all from rain to slush to snow and tonight this is what's left on storm scan3. the precipitation moving out now but we're left with below freezing temperatures in many parts of the region. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. we have team three coverage tonight of the storm and what's next for us tonight and tomorr tomorrow. we'll begin with meteorologist kathy orr. kathy, what's going on right n now? >> temperatures are falling. skies are clearing in some neighborhoods and we are talking about the heaviest snow long gone but it fell here in the poconos. you can see the piles of snow clinging to trees because it was wet, it was soupy, and it was very heavy. right now, we're seeing temperatures cool down very quickly. on storm scan3 really not much left to this and temperatures are quiet. in philadelphia 37 degrees. 37 in wilmington. arthritic in allentown. 29 in the poconos so below freezing already. we do have northwesterly winds as our storm is off the coast of new england now. you can see between five and

15 miles an hour and they will slacken off during the overnight hours so the big story is the cool down this is a look at what we'll wake up to. freezing in philadelphia and wilmington but millville below freezing. allentown in the 20's. reading at 30. poconos in the 20s. if you're heading up the northeast he can tension early thursday morning you can encounter some icy conditions. so icy concerns a big threat come tomorrow morning and even during the overnight. here's a look at some of those impressive snow amounts in the poconos 8-inches that's our highest accumulation. tripoli 6.1. ewing new jersey an inch and warminster bucks county a tenth of an inch new castle delaware just .3-inch of snow. so now the big concern turns to the roads. meteorologist kate bilo is live in collegeville tonight with more on that part of the story. good evening, kate. >> reporter: good evening to you kathy. temperatures are still above freezing here in collegeville but that's not going to last. looks like christmas behind me but only thanksgivingly one of

the area hardest hit with today's heavy wet snow. look how heavy the snow fell on top of this railing on top of this awning and it's dripping now still meting. take look at the ground as well if you walk with me you can see the slushy snow on the ground. in parking lots, sidewalks you've got this mess, this slushy slop that is all just going to turn to ice as we go through the overnight hours. it's not ice now. the still just wet but lot of people will be out and about early on thanksgiving morning heading to their destinations and you've got to watch for those slippery spots. we're still at 35.4 degrees it's actually a five-tenths of a degree warmer than it was 10:00 o'clock. let's take look at snow amounts as i mentioned we got about 3-inches here in the colleg collegeville area. we've been up and down this end tarry john collegeville towards graterford limerick and seeing a decent amount of snow allentown with for .8. but as we traveled up and down through this region everybody we talked to said they were impacted in some way by todays winter storm.

heavy wet sloppy snow blanketed north and west sections of our region on wednesday. in collegeville the snow prompterred pre thanksgiving cleanup as shovels and plows were deployed and led to travel slow downs. >> we were coming in from philadelphia we just went of in to visit friends coming home took longer than it usually would have. >> reduced my speeds and played it safe. >> reporter: snow didn't stop shoppers like devonne wilson had was trying to score some pre black friday deals. >> it was like snowing real bad when i was on my way here. but then it stopped now. i could get home safe. >> reporter: lindsay of collegeville estimates the area got -- >> definitely 3-inches maybe. probably more everything is probably going to freeze overnight. so just going get worse report roar the grown ups among us may not be ready for thislily blast of winter weather -- >> no. i'm over it. like, it doesn't need to happen right now. it's november. >> reporter: for the kids already off from school from the holiday this per fact snowman making snow was the ticket on

thanksgiving eve and the dogs liked it too. >> as lindsay mentioned there it is going to freeze up overnight. traveling concerns slushy roads may freeze patchy black ice is possible as temperatures in this area drop down into the 20s so please play it safe tonight and tomorrow morning. reporting in collegeville, i'm meteorologist kate bilo, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> kate, thank you. new tonight, weather might have played role in a crash on the pennsylvania turnpike. a tractor trailer and a car collided along the northeast extension in worcester township montgomery county. this is eyewitness cam video from the southbound lanes around 6:30. there were no serious injuries. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinn nope has his eye on road conditions tonight along with a lot of other drivers in chester county. >> the late into the evening the snow still continued to fall here in paoli as far as the roads are concerned take a look. they are wet but they are certainly clear. it was a snowy slushy mess that kept contractors busy throughout

the night in chester county. most of the accumulation into the evening hours here was in the parking lots and driveways. >> it's been snowing here since about 1:00 o'clock. it hasn't stopped since. we constantly trying to keep up with it. we're falling behind. >> kale hal the pleasure of brushing off snow off her car after working all day when she drove to work from elkton maryland she worried about the ride home. >> when i fir crossed the border into pennsylvania when it first starred to turn into snow from rain. it was mostly sleet at that point. >> reporter: for penndot by the evening much of the coverage area became primarily assaulting operation. plowing was limited to secondary roads in the upper regions of chester county. the concern now turns to the late evening and overnight hours as the temperatures drop. >> roads will be a little slippery in places. we're cautioning all motorists traveling tonight to be careful. drive -- continue to drive slowly. >> you came up from florida? >> um-hmm. >> welcome to pennsylvania. >> thank you. >> reporter: robin drove up

all day from her home in the sunshine state. >> this weather is nuts. i don't understand it. >> reporter: for locals this snowstorm was a search. >> no problem in the morning getting out. >> reporter: penndot crews will remain out on area roadways to continue spreading saul as needed in order to prevent roads from icing over. reporting in paoli chester county, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> this storm caused plenty of air travel issues that extended into the evening. philadelphia international tells "eyewitness news" they've had about 20 cancellations tonight. 10 out bound, 10 inbound. in all today, flight aware.com says the storm caused more than 250 delays. and 170 cancellations here in philadelphia. >> plenty of other people catching trains out of philly for the holiday. here's look at 30th street station where riders dealt with delays throughout the day. not all of them were weather related. amtrak will have extra trains on the tracks throughout the holiday weekend. well "eyewitness news" also in king of prussia tonight where

shocking turn in the disappearance of a woman in north hmm hampton county. today police found her body and tonight her stepfather was arraigned for her murder. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has the latest from northampton. >> reporter: jessica padgett disappeared last friday. her alleged killer her stepfather was charged with her murder five days later. >> he did admit that he intentionally and knowingly caused the death of the victim. >> greg gary graph was at his northampton home when she arrived friday morning to sent a fax. a confrontation began ending with graph shooting padgett in the back of her head as to why -- >> there's clearly some motive that involves a sexual assault. >> reporter: during his confession, he also told investigators he buried her body behind a shed on his property. that's where police found her wednesday morning. >> it's just been -- i really have a hard time putting words to it. >> reporter: jim wilkins lived across the street from padgett a woman he called kind hearted he

i got to spend time with mrs. norton's class in south physical. a student named teas wrote me a letter and and fifty eighted me to come to her class and read for book day. of course i had to say yes. >> of course. >> i was so happy to be there. also there today police commissioner charles ramsay and district attorney seth williams. thanks to all the students and the teachers. it was a great time to have a little fun reading a book this morning. we'll be right back.
