right as we were coming on the air the doors opened. they're going to be open until tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. if you can believe that. going to be open more than 24 hours, and some stores a lot of anticipation people have been waiting outside here, also, we went to this wynnefield heights target near philadelphia. a lot of people outside there waiting. you can see the line people waiting to get in get those special holiday deals just seems like black friday is starting earlier and earlier every single year. now, just a little while ago, we caught up with some folks that were kind of curious to see if the mall was open here. we told them it wasn't. they were going to sit inside their cars but they were here to shop. take a listen. >> i don't know how the crowds are going to be. so that's kind of scary. >> i think it's too early, yeah. i think they should be closed on the holiday. that's just my opinion. >> stuff for my girl. stuff for me. >> what kind of stuff? >> clothes and probably electronic stuff. >> reporter: it gives you kind of an idea of what folks are

looking for. now, most of the malls you'll want to check individually because this shows you kind of where,, what time these falls are going to be open. with the exception of christiana mall in delaware, the malls are going to be opening in our area all through the night through tomorrow christiana mall check individually there are some stores open jessica we'll head inside the cherry hill mall right now. it will be open until 10:00 o'clock tomorrow night. a lot of excited shoppers inside. we're live in cherry hill, david spunt cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> david, we'll see what kind of deals you can find. k mart one of the stores that got an extra early start today. this one on roosevelt boulevard in mayfair opened its doors at 6:00 this morning. this store will be open for 42 straight hours through thanksgiving and black friday. k mart is not the only store open today. toys r us opened its doors at 5:00 p.m. while kohl's and macy's just opened at 6:00. retailers are opening for consumer demand. ♪ >> meteorologist kate bilo here now with a look at what kind of

weather awaits those shoppers headeheaded outdoor. kate something tells me they'll want layers on. >> definitely dress in layers especial physical you plan to be standing outdoors, standing in line or heading to one of the open air outlet malls much it's cold out there. we a couple of light showers trying to push into the region most of these are staying west of here but can't rule out stray rain or even snow shower here or there so don't be shocked if you need to flick the windshield wipers a couple of times out on the roads here this evening and tonight. take look at temperatures and we are just dropping now at the sun has gone down we're at 26 in mount pock know. 34 in allentown. 35 degrees in millville. and 34 in wilmington below average already and we're not even into the overnight yet. current winds they're generally light but seeing five to 10 miles an hour winds from the north and west with some higher gusts. it's still brisk out there. that make it feel even a little bit colder so if i were going out tonight i'd want the coat, the scarf, the gloves and the hat whole 9 yards keep yourself warm and then peel off those layers when you go into the stores but it's worth it to not

match against the george washington high eagles at home. >> we can't tell hugh won that game. that's coming up later in sports with lesley as for christmas village it is from now until december 28t 28th. in center city justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> heading to south philadelph philadelphia's cacia's bakery is a thanksgiving tradition for open out there. customers show up for more than just roles and desserts. for more than six decades now dozens of people have dropped off their turkeys at the bakery to let them handle the cooking. the bakery fires up that are heavy brick oven to roast the bird just right for everyone out there. the bakery cooked about 129 turkeys today alone. more than a week after a four alarm fire destroyed a building at the columbus farmers market it's indoor stores are open for business. the outdoor flea market opened for business last week two days after the fire. market representatives tell us customers piled in today like they normally do on thanksgivi thanksgiving. >> families get up early put their turkeys in the oven, they

come out here to shop and they've been doing it for decades and we're very very pleased that today is a good market today out there. we have no snow. we have lots of vendors. we have lots of shoppers. and we have the inside stores back open. >> vendors tell us they're hoping to see a big shopping crowd this holiday weekend. new at 6-dollar night police are investigate a fatal stabbing in overbrook. this happened just after 10:00 this morning on the 5400 block of arlington street. police say a 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms. he was rush to the hospital where doctors pronoun the him dead. police say the victim did know his killer. >> delaware state police have canceled a missing person's report for mary lorraine lap pa. her body was found in the tributary of rehoboth bay this morning. she was reported missing wednesday by neighbors. foul play is not expected. >> the tragedy in tabernacle, new jersey, has taken its toll on the entire community.

"eyewitness news" reporter syma choudhry tells us about the request to find a loving home for the family's pet. report. >> what a horrible thing for this dog to lose his three best friends. >> on november 20th, police arrived to a disturbing seen in tabernacle. a mother shot her three children and then turn the gun on herse herself. jeannine le patch, 11 year old alex, eight-year-old nadia and 14-year-old nicholas harriman all found shot and these eyes may have seen it happen. >> i guess i'm glad she spared him. >> animal control took bum bells to a shelter until sue cocoa low from the burlington county animal alliance decided to put him in a foster home. >> he needed to be in a home where people could pet him and care for him and help him to heal. >> reporter: it didn't take fong for many folks to reach out to the burlington county animal alliance asking to attempt bum bells. >> patrick heinz was nicholas' best friend and remembers seeing bum bells when he would go over his friend' house.

his mom daw bum bells story on facebook. >> we're a small community. we wish we could have done something and prevented the tragedy. >> the organization decided it was best for him to be adopted by someone who knew the family. patrick and bum bells will now help each other heal after they both lost a friend. >> he we just had so many good times together. really hard to see him go. >> syma choudhry, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> with pope francis sent to visit philadelphia next september for the world meeting of families thousands of people will need a place to stay in the city. hotel rooms are going fast and meeting organizers are now asking 10,000 philadelphia residents to open their homes. irish company homes will match potential visitors with host who's will be paid for the accommodation. home state ceo says more than 100 families have already register. coming up next on "eyewitness news" -- >> members of our military having a thanksgiving meal a

"eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bright was there to show us how one group said thank you. >> reporter: revving motorcycles, waving flags and holding signs hundreds lined the walkway to the battleship new jersey thanksgiving morning. to show appreciation to veterans an active duty service members. crystal and her friend haveness is a made cupcakes. >> just gives the word we're thankful for them. >> i'm thankful for my family, and the people who serve our country. >> reporter: i was bore the battleship there were patriotic songs. >> ♪ report. >> reporter: more thank yous a traditional thanksgiving meal with all the trimming. >> it's pretty different that's what's on my plate right now.

>> an army unit preparing for die employment got to feel holiday warmth far from home. >> homesick. yeah, but we have our friends here and our family and now new jersey as our family here, too. >> reporter: part of the family our veterans had live in camden some like bill clark recently or currently battle homelessness. >> there's a lot of us out there. as long as we acknowledge it and try and get these numbers down and get these vets in some homes, get them some help, train them, put them out on jobs, they'd have a good thing going. >> reporter: with food and fellowship many shared with their thankful for. members of the spivak familiar who'll organized the military meal are thankful for all the volunteers. >> the response is incredible. year after year folks giving of give up their thanksgiving morning to come out and spend it with us and our soldier that's what the essence of thanksgiving is giving back. the military meal is a 10 year tradition for the spievac family and they invite many more people to make eight family tradition themselves come out next year to the battleship new jersey and

welcome all the veterans and the active duty service members. in camden, cleve bryan cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> also in camden county today a generous group serve hundreds of free meals at the lindenwold senior citizen community center this was a joint evident by several organizations including the sorority and the new jersey garden city alumni chapter. update now on christmas tree in reading that just wasn't well received. town officials now say they will decorate the little pine with a single red bulb just like in charlie brown christmas. reading residents complained the tree was ugly when it was unveiled. workers took took off the decorations they planned to place it but logistical issues forced them to keep that tree. reeded indication ceremony is set for december 6th and now that holiday lights are starting to go up we want to see pictures of your holiday display. you can send them to us use hashtag cbs-3 holiday lights gone to cbsphilly.com and hey, we may come to your home

cbsphilly.com/watchers and we'll put you and your observations on tv. >> let's take lookout side. this is skycam3 looking from campbell's field over the beautifully it will ben franklin bridge tonight. you can see it's dry out there no problems if you're out and about on the roads maybe doing some shopping. if you're down the shore, walking the boards it's all lit up in ocean city. looks a little quiet out there. the ferris wheel lit up right now but don't see a whole lot of signs of live walking the boardwalk tonight. good place to walk off some of those thanksgiving calories. take a look at storm scan3 which is showing a few light snow showers and flurries trying to drift in. haven't really seen much. saw a few stray snow showers to the north of the city this morning but most of these are fizzling out by the time they get into our area so not going to see much you ma need to swipe those windshield wipers once or twice out traveling tonight a few snowflake or raindrops can't be ruled out. future weather doesn't bring much in. keeps it all to the west and that means we're staying clear right through the overnight hours noon tomorrow.

tomorrow a full day of sunshine but chilly temperatures drop overnight we're at 38 right now at the airport. 35 in trenton it's 26 in mount pocono and 34 degrees in reading and allentown down the shore we're looking at 37 in wildwood. 34 in atlantic city. but again cold conditions as we head into our black friday. high pressure starts to build in but as we pull down that chilly northwest wind temperatures do not get any better than the theirs despite a full day of sunshine as that high moves east we start to get into a return flow we start to see winds come in out of the south and west. back to the 40s on saturday and then we get into the 50s by sunday. so dry conditions through the rest of the holiday weekend no problems. if you're traveling. if you're shopping, bundle up. 8am on friday, boy 8am all the deals gone now that all the stores are open now? i don't know. 31 degrees 8am. 11 a.m. 36. 2:00 p.m. 38. and 5:00 p.m. 36 degrees. if you're online shopper like i am stay inside, stay bundled up and don't have to head out into the cold. overnight partly cloudy, down to 29 degrees for the overnight low with that northwest wind.

friday sunny and brisk, cold for shoppers. 39 degrees the daytime high or if you're going to get the christmas tree tomorrow perhaps. >> in pitman gloucester county dozens of volunteers got up early this morning for thanksgiving tradition. they loaded up nearly 3,000 meals for people in need all over south jersey. this project was started by venice italian eatery owner ron. he says he grew up without a lot and says the need is unmistakable cooking started wednesday night with 71 turkeys, weighing more than 1200 pounds. the restaurant also distributed 3,000 slices of pie. thanks to them all the work they did. >> thanks for watching "eyewitness news" at 6:00. we're back at 10:00 on our sister station the cw philly and back on cbs-3 at 11:00. we hope you'll join us. up next the cbs evening news
