i'm anne-marie green. this morning two major weather systems are sweeping into the united states. one is blanketing the plains with arctic-like air and others are hitting california with potentially flood-producing rain. urban flooding is possible in san francisco through tomorrow. the heavy rain caused a mudslide along the pacific coast highway. a six-mile stretch of the road was shut down. on saturday powerful waves covered the boardwalk. some homes were evacuated. meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station wbz has more on our two storm systems. now we're watching a larmer storm system. it's showing up beautifully here. this is coming in monday night into tuesday morning. heavy rainfall from northern california right on down to southern california. for many the biggest storm

you've seen since february. the rain is a good thing. however, enough of it is a problem. flash flooding could be issues. areas of mudslides in recent burn zones from northern down into southern california. another story we're watching, windchill advisories up in the upper midwest to northern plains. feels like 40 below zero. this cold air is spilling into the midwest and right on down across the plains all the way down to texas by the morning. this is where we'll see windchill in the single digits. i'm meteorologist eric fisher for cbs news. folks in the southwest were rattled late last night by a moderate earthquake. it was centered 16 miles southwest of flagstaff. thousands of people reported feeling the quake. while there were no reports of injury or damage, a twitter user took this picture of a roadway

near sedona blocked by debris. and today president obama meets with his cabinet and civil rights leaders. over the weekend the police officer cleared in the shooting death of black teenager resigned from the force. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, has there been speculation that the president may actually go to ferguson. >> there has. but the white house has sched e scheduled no such trip to ferguson. today's meet willing include discussions of mistrust between white police officers and black communities. in state as i cross the country calls for justice for slain teenager michael brown continue even after police officer darren wilson resigned. >> his resignation doesn't mean anything for me.

he did it because there's no way he can work after what he's done. protesters in new york raised their voices as well. a week after a grand jury dec e decided not to indict will sorch. in sol dags five st. louis rams players stuck their arms up. it angered the police officers. saying it is unthinkable that hometown athletes would so publicly do a narrative. they will meet with law enforcement and civil rights leaders. brown family attorney benjamin crump says changes must begin immediately in ferguson. >> we have to get police officers who care about trying to have a relationship with the community. >> on sunday ferguson's mayor outlined new insenn tichbs to bring more african-americans

bumpers, quilts, and soft toys. ohio state university is mourning today following the death of a member of the football team. a vigil was held on campus in memory of kosta karageorge. the 22-year-old was founded on sunday the victim of an apparent suicide. he vanished the day before thanksgiving and his family believes football injuries may have played a role in his dealt. >> reporter: police found the body of 22-year-old karageorge in a zumster not far from his apartment. >> a female and her son came across the male. >> reporter: it appears karageorge took his own life. >> the initial investigation shows he died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. with very recovered a firearm at the scene. >> everyone loved being around

children and false imprisonment. julie pesaro lives across the street from the family and had no idea the boy was in trouble. >> he's outside at least once a week doing the yardwork. he kept that yard immaculate. there was no evidence of distress. he didn't seem like he was reaching out. >> reporter: that 13-year-old boy had been reported missing by his mother in florida in 2010. on saturday his mother saw him again for the first time in four years. she had told child welfare officials the boy hadn't returned after visiting his father but she didn't tell police and it's not clear why. on friday officers were called to the father's home in jones borrow south of atlanta to look for the boy. the father denied he was there. they came back a second time. the boy send a text message to his mother guiding them to a false waliding to the attic
