and today is wednesday, december 3rd good morning i'm's ukee washington. aim nicole brewer. erika is off today. here stories we are following, friend and family plan other vigil for shane montgomery and now his cousin talks to "eyewitness news" about the night the west chester university student vanished. bill cosby hit with another lawsuit this accusation is different from the others. and this montgomery county nate i have peers to have the inside track on becoming president obama's next defense secretary. those stories and much more coming up, lets start with our forecast, we're foggy this morning. >> a lot of foggy. >> yes. >> let's talk to katie. >> not really, people get what you are talking about. we have a lot of foggy out there.
4:31 am
we do. it is because we had a warm front, yesterday, and that is why it is that dreary day we saw, some icing and snow and rain and drizzle out there. that has lifted out of here. now we have to get the cold front associated with that same system out of here. we will find showers out there right now and perhaps even through this afternoon. but bottom line here it is at least a little bit of the brighter day. it is not by any stretch what we saw yesterday. temperatures are warmer then they were yesterday and they will continue to warm up a as the the day progresses. that means it the is just are lingering rain showers today. you can probably getaway without the umbrella. we will have much more on this and another system to track for the weekend and all those details are straight ahead. we're hearing from the roommate ape cousin of missing west chester university student shane montgomery. >> "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us from manayunk where the search continues its seventh day, justin good morning.
4:32 am
>> reporter: we're on main street where this story begins and almost end for now. seven days since shane montgomery was last seen on this block at kildares irish pub ape we spoke to a cousin and a roommate who were among the last to see him and also among the last to see or know his whereabouts. it has been nearly a week of searches here in manayunk and across the city from philadelphia police unit searching the canal to family and friend searching on foot to flyers going up all around the city and all in an effort to find 21 year-old shane montgomery last seen early thanksgiving morning celebrating just turning 21 with friend and family. his last stop was kildares irish pub. he got there about 2:00 o'clock in that morning which is closing time. he was also toll to leave. we spoke to another of shane's cousins a and his college roommate who tell us exclusively they are working with police and fbi to help
4:33 am
find shane. >> this fbi needs me i will go down, philly police need me, i'm just assisting in anyway i can. >> yesterday i went back with the fbi, and we searched every nook and cranny of my apartment. >> as you heard they are searching every nook and cranny of his apartment, although shane has in the been seen there for almost seven days. beyond this search there is a vigil being held at shane's school west chester university, at 6:00 p.m. this evening. the the reward is now $26,000 for any information to help fine shane. we are live in manayunk, i'm justin f finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> 4:33. time for a check of the weather. a a lot of foggy as i like to say average a lot of foggy right now, nicole and a when we take a live look at sky cam three you can tell camera lens is skewed by rain drops that have been falling for the last few hours but we are having a tough time making out the tops here of the ben franklin

bridge. off in the distance on a nice off in the distance on a nice clear morning on cloudy morning you would see the center city sky line and tough to make out the information ground at this point. here's your bottom line. lets go next to storm can three. low clouds, lingering showers and they are all pretty much moving from the southwest at this point. it is an indication that it is moving from a milder place. with that said you don't to have worry about icing out there you'll find a few pops of pink that fire up here into the highest terrain but a at this point we are done with any icing concerns, it is trickly rain showers and they are very much just spotty or passing as the day goes on but we could see these lingering into the early a afternoon before things start to clear out of here. looking at the area of visibility we will see a milk bag. closer to the shore, no major problems here, even in philadelphia, right at the the ground level it is not terrible, but if you are traveling maybe through, towards the schuylkill river banks or maybe traveling across ben franklin bridge as we just showed you it could be
4:35 am
poor visibility that you will be finding out there. it is really just those typical spots that may deal with that. forty-one is the current temperature at the airport. warm enough. nothing but showers. even up at mount pocono where we are at 34 degrees. you will see a few rain drops out there. forty-six is current temperature in northeast philadelphia, in the upper 30's in the northern most suburbs outside of the city. around the region today mid 50's, expect down the the shore in philadelphia it is not prettiest day we have ever seen but it is more mild then yesterday, and ended up. vittoria, good morning. >> good morning, everyone. very quiet on the roads but one thing you do want to keep in mind is roads are very slick. if you are traveling on our majors and throughout the neighborhood just take it easy this morning schuylkill expressway looks great. it is 4:35. we don't expect to see too much volume regardless but traveling westbound is this shot here indicate ago approaching city after avenue it is wide opened for you and throughout the western suburbs even around center city philadelphia we have a lot of good news. same thing traveling on 476,

this shot here not too far from the area of i-95 at macdade boulevard no delays to or from i-95, schuylkill expressway, mid county toll place, speed sensors high up in the 50's, 95, 76, blue route, pennsylvania turnpike, great looking traveling on the northeast extension, even traveling on 422, 202. but if you are traveling in new jersey on the new jersey turnpike southbound at exit number two that is route 322, we are dealing with the tractor trail their went off in the embankment. if you are traveling in this area try to be mindful of that situation. it is an active, accident scene and traveling southbound on the roosevelt boulevard a at oxford circle pretty tricky intersection. we have an accident there as well no delays at mass transit. things look just fine at the airport; nicole. i-95 has reopened after a ups tractor trailer jackknifed on the girard point bridge. it happened in the north bound lanes between exit number 13 and 17 shortly after midnight. in one was hurt. bill cosby is facing a

pentagon official who grew up in abington f nominated and confirmed carter would replace chuck hagel who resigned last week. carter graduated from abington high school in 1972 and inducted in the district hall of fame in 1989. >> when i found the 1927 graduation program he was one of the five class speakers, which is quite an accomplishment. it means that students at that time were impressed with his work. >> reporter: carter served as deputy defense secretary from 2011 through 2013. he is a expert and served as pentagon's chief of technology and weapons buying. very exciting, local guys. >> very much owe. 4:38. there is much more to come on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" including what caused parts of the a major american city to plunge into darkness. in sports flyers go into san jose hoping not to get bitten by sharks. we're back in two minutes. good morni

it is unfortunate for them. for us we are middle of the road. i think you can getaway with the umbrella if you are not craze bye carting the that accessory with you today. the that is what i found. >> i know. >> that is what hairdriers are for. but that is exactly it, you will see these lingering showers here and there but they will come through scattered in nature. if you are feeling lucky today you might in the see a drop of rain out and about but there will be clouds and we certainly as nicole mentioned still have some fog to deal with. lets start off by taking a look at our center city camera. what happened to the sky line. it is completely gone right now. courtesy of all that low lying cloud cover out there. but at least we can see the information ground and what you can see is the roadway. so i don't think fog is necessarily as much of a concern as you are traveling on the ground, level, but you may be seeing some patches of it here and there if you are traveling say, near the river banks or if you are traveling up in the hills or even just across the bridge. so when elevated like that it can lead to minor problems.
4:43 am
otherwise on storm scan all we have got left are a couple of showers. bulk of the system is now well into northern new england and it looks so much worse on radar then it is. again, even here at home we're just left with a lingering shower or two here and there throughout the rest of this afternoon. lets look at how we did with the icing yesterday. these are numbers you don't want to see. higher ice amount the heavier it weighs down on power lines and tree limbs but we ended up with all of the half an inch of ice in mount pocono because temperature profile was so perfect for it to form. reading it was just a tenth of an inch but a tenth of an inch all we need is that little glaze to cause major headaches. that is all out of here. we are seeing temperatures
