in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> developing news right now at 11:00 o'clock, a man is shot 14 times while driving his car. a rape story starts to unravel week after bombshell from rolling stone about a university gang rape. the magazine apologizes. >> and we've got our eye on storm tonight. this is storm scan3. it shows rain moving into the area, yes, it's light now but it's about to get much heavier. good evening, i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. it looks like we could be in for a saturday soaking and ice is making for some dangerous conditions in parts of the region. meteorologist kate bilo in the cbs weather center with what we can expect. >> thanks jess casm this kind of a long duration storm in that we're dealing with the warm front lifting through here tonight. that's producing light rain showers across our area even some snow up across new york state and new england but the main event is yet to come that will be tomorrow afternoon and

evening as the rain associated with the cold front continues to push through the area so again we'll be dealing with this until probably after midnight tomorrow note night another 24 hours plus with this system. we do have some ice reported especially up in the poconos. the good news is, temperatures have just gun to rise above freezing in that area so it look like the threat for ice is diminish ago bit. right now seeing light rain over the city into portions of bucks and montgomery counties and a few steadier showers back towards berks county as well. these are our ice reports. one report in carbon county. zoom in on this one here near long upon. an accident involving 10 vehicles near mile post 283 on i80. four injuries reported that and a tenth of an inch of ice leading to dangerous conditions on the roads. still winter weather advisory for carbon and monroe counties until 1am. rain that comes through tonight generally light. we start tomorrow morning on a dry note but it's tomorrow afternoon that the rain begins to fill in coming up we'll talk

about how much rain will fall and what the timing of this storm moving out is and tease ahead to another storm that could be impacting the forecast into the middle of next week. for now jessica back to you. >> kate, thank you. you can get the updated forecast any time with the cbs philly weather app. check live radar get severe weather alerts also share your storm pictures with us. download the app now on google play and i. tunes. >> developing right now, a man is dead, he was shot 14 times in the point breeze section of the city tonight. police say that man was shot while he was driving his car. it careened into this house on south cleveland street. there was no one else injured in the crash or the gunfire. we do know that door was pronounced dead at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. police are searching for his killer. also developing to night detectives in los angeles are meeting with a woman who claims to have been sexually us a assault beside bill cosby. police are not releasing any additional details tonight.

we do know the meeting is takes place, though, after police asked anyone who believes they were victims of sexual abuse by cosby to come forward. meantime crews spent this day cleaning up cosby's star on the walk of fame after it was defaced someone wrote the word rapist on it. >> new information in the torching of a deck's home in montgomery county. tonight police say the arsonist is a neighbor with a grudge. that fire happened on commons drive in lower pottsgrove township. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones tell us how police capture the suspect. >> reporter: this fire investigators 11 was set by the next door neighbor court records indicate 52-year-old donna yup had an ax to grind with her neighbor limerick police detective ernie morris now his home he shares with his wife and two teenaged daughter social security destroyed just weeks before christmas. >> to do that it's crazy. i mean it was something i never seen before and would not like to see again. >> reporter: investigators 11 surveillance cameras from the

deck's home show a woman believed to be yup walking right across the front lawn here and using what appears to be a gas grill lighter to set the detective's christmas deck raises on fire. just last month, the detective had the cameras installed after someone poured caramel into the gas tank of his personal vehicle causing just under $3,000 in damages. >> were you protecting your son? >> reporter: according to pennsylvania state police the 52-year-old woman blamed detective morris for her son's incarceration on unrelated charges. morris and his family were vacationing in florida when the fire was set early thursday morning. no one was injured. yup right now is locked up facing numerous charges including arson her bail was at set at $1 million. in lower pottstown grove township, todd quinones cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> demonstrations are still going strong across the country tonight. protesters calling for change in the wake of two grand jury decisions prompted claims of racism in the american justice

system. cbs news correspondent marley hall has the latest now on the new round of demonstrations. >> reporter: protests played out for a third night across the country friday as people expressed their anger over recent cases involving the deaths of unarmed black men during confrontations with police. the protesters method was peaceful. their weapon inconvenience. in boston demonstrators staged a die in in the middle of a major intersection. in philadelphia, high school students laid down in silent protest. in chicago demonstrators blocked famous lake shore drive and in aurora colorado high school students marched on city hall. the outrage is in response to recent decisions by grand juries in new york and missouri. not to charge white police officers in the deaths of michael brown in ferguson and eric garner in new york. >> they were martres. they died for their cause. we're out here today because of

them. >> reporter: a group marched across manhattan to stage a die in at apple's flagship store near central park a popular tourist stop. >> protesters left the apple store, then proceeded to march down busy fifth avenue to continue their demonstrations in the streets. this was the third day of protests. how much longer do you feel you need to do this? >> until black people in this country and around the world get justice. >> reporter: protesters say they won't stop until they see result. in new york, marley hall for cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> here at home temple students expressed their dissatisfaction over the grand juri' decision in ferguson and new york city. those students marched with their hands up in north philadelphia today. "eyewitness news" was there at broad and cecil b. moore. those students also staged a so called die in which shut down broad street for several minut minutes. as you saw philadelphia high school students also joined the many protesters around the nation today.

"eyewitness news" was there at central high school science leadership academy and masterman where students also staged a die in. they then marched peacefully throughout their neighborhood streets. >> rolling tone magazine is backpedaling tonight and issued an apology. mag zone now says a story it published about a woman allege allegedly gang raped at a university of virginia fraternity party may not be tr true. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live in the sat center with more on the controversial article and its connection to our area. david. >> reporter: jessica, author sabrina early lives in philadelphia and tonight she has a lot of questions to answer. we reached out to her to find out more about the story rolling stone says has some inconsistent cease. the story called a rape on campus created an uproar. not just at uva but across the country. a female student who went by the name jackie told rolling stone magazine seven men gang raped her inside the if i cpa scism house on the university of virginia campus in septembe

september 2012. uva stopped all greek live activities because of the article. an independent council also got involved. now this woman philadelphia based author sabrina ruben erredly has tough questions to answer after rolling stone began backpedaling on the story friday after and in. the manage are editor wrote the following on the magazine's website "because of the sensitive nature of jackie's story we decided to honor her request not to contact the man she claimed orchestrated at tack on her nor any of the men she claimed participated in the attack for fear of retaliation against her". he continued "we were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame and humiliation many women feel after a sexual assault and now regret the decision to not contact the alleged assaulters to get their account". >> reporter: students on campus reactioned to the magazine's doubt of jackie's story. >> we should actually just continue this, because it is an issue that pertains to everyone,

not just females at all. >> reporter: we went by an address connected to the author. a woman answer and said she didn't live there any more. we also e-mailed and called her. no answer there. uva president theresa sullivan released a statement today telling the community that the school's focus continues to be on stopping sexual violence on campus and news of the article inconsistent cease should not change the focus. the fraternity released a statement questioning the original allegations. live in the sat center tonight, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> david, thank you very much. well, tonight investigators are waiting for the philadelphia rapper beanie si bell gel to wake up from surgery at an atlantic city hospital so they can ask him a few questions. sigel was shot in the torso at a home on spruce avenue in pleasantville atlantic county this morning. his real name is dwight grant. sigel's brother-in-law was also injured in that shooting. police believe there was an altercation at the home just around the time the gunfire erupted.

>> she will casings and ammunition found outside but when we got to the house mr. grant was in the house. so at this point we don't know if the saturday shooting took place and he went in or if the shooting actually took place in the house. >> sigel was released from prison back in august after serving two years for federal tax evasion. in 2006, the 40-year-old was shot multiple times during a robbery in philadelphia. well new at 11:00 o'clock i white is there as volunteers hit the steve searching for the missing west chester university student shane montgomery. his friends and family posted flyers in south street in philadelphia tonight and talked with bar goers trying to collect any information they can on the 21-year-old's disappearance. he was last seen leaving kildare's pub in manayunk early thanksgiving morning. >> we're just saturating the city. we're all over the place where college kids would go trying to hit happy hours. someone down this way may have been in manayunk that night.

california. nasa says orion could one day take humans to mars. well the road to confirmation begins for montgomery county native who was officially nominated as the next secretary of defense today. president obama introduced ashton carter at the white house much he is a graduate of abington high school class of 1972. carter was the deputy defense secretary from 2011 to 2013. and today he pledged to the president his most candid and strategic advice. if confirmed, ashton carter will succeed chuck hagel as defense secretary. >> subaru is on the move. the automaker is moving its north american headquarters from cherry hill 4 miles down the road to camden. chopper three tonight over the current headquarters on route 70 in cherry hill. subaru is seeking $118 million in tax breaks over didn't years as part of this move to camden. the company will purchase a site near the campbell's soup facility and plans to construct a new building there.

>> on the health watch tonight, taking one aspirin a day could cause more harm than good for women under 65 years old. researchers in the netherlands say aspirin may reduce the risk of heart disease and some forms of cancer but it can also increase the risks of bleeding in the stomach and other parts of the digestive tract. doctors say the benefits of taking an aspirin a day out weigh the risks for women over the age of 65. >> the philadelphia eagles are and the only eagles pigging themselves for a championship on sunday. the undefeated olney eagles packed up their bags and headed to tampa, florida, tonight. they'll be playing in the united youth football league championship tournament. these nine and 10-year-olds are 10-zero on the year and raised $20,000 for the trip through more than 50 donations. >> and we wish the eagles good luck this weekend. >> grammy nominations announced today and beyonce', pharrell and newcomer sam smith lead the pack

here and check in with alan matthews he reports 34 degrees in berneville with some rain and he says cold and wet outside, yuk, i am not a duck. you are not alan and only the ducks would want to be outside in weather like this and it's just going to get worse as we head into the day tomorrow. hey, if you love the weather and you'd like to be part of our newscast like these great folks join us become an "eyewitness weather" pat cher sign up now at cbsphilly.com/watchers. rain has been generally light in spotty across our region tonight. we have had some ice as we talked about earlier up in the pocono region. you can see the low clouds hanging over the ben franklin bridge and we are seeing some rain in the city at the moment. the roads are wet. everything is just damp for tonight and will continue that way tomorrow. but tomorrow evening that's when all of this rain you see this moisture associated with an advancing cold front that will get in and that is going to be heavier than what we're seeing today. right now we're dealing with the warm front and you can see the rain pretty much lining up from west to east all across the region. it is generally again light and spotty but watch for low clouds and patchy fog out there and

again low visibility if you're traveling through any of these showers our triple sweep shows a few showers moving toward the wilmington area and a few more in the city. up through the northeast and in portions of lower bucks county and burlington county new jersey at the mommy. taking a look at what to expect for your saturday, we expect periods of rain heaviest in the afternoon. how much are we talking? about three quarters of an inch to an inch of rain and this could lead to ponding on the roads especially because it's going to fall fast and furious in the afternoon. temperatures though in the mid 50's so that's just rain for us certainly not snow this time around right now 42 at the airport. it's 35 in allentown. mount poke no up to 33 that's good news. it was below freezing earlier this evening and that's what led to the icing about a tenth of an inch of ice reported in portions of monroe county especially but overnight just few scattered showers and notice tomorrow a little bit of a break in the action until 2:00 o'clock and that's when everything starts to converge on the region and it just fills in from there. steady pockets of rain about 6:00 p.m. from the city all the way down to the shore points. 10:00 p.m. it is still raining

maybe ending as little before the of snow up in the pocono region but most of us just seeing rain with this and then after midnight tomorrow night it moves on out and we will clear out as we head into sunday so the worst of it again scattered showers overnight light rain saturday morning but the heaviest and instead yesterday will be saturday afternoon. what to expect again as we move into next week that's when we expect another system to move up the coast. bringing the risk for rain and could end perhaps even as will little bit of snow. overnight cloudy skies, showers at 41. watch for rain tomorrow. mild and breezy at 55. if you're heading to the eagles game it will be chilly at 44 but generally dry. a breezy day your seven day forecast again tuesday into wednesday the day to watch. that's when our next system will come up the coast bringing rain and wind and it will turn cold again behind that. >> take the sunny days and embrace them. even if it's cold at least it's dry. >> kate, thanks. >> lesley is here with surprising news out of major league baseball. >> former phillie and fan favorite jayson werth is going to jail. we'll tell you why coming up.
