identifying two cars that left the scene of the deadly hit and run. victim was walk ago long rambo street in bridgeport just after 11:30 last night. thirty lease say black late 90's ford explorer struck a hispanic man. the driver initially stopped but then fled on fourth street. it damage the passenger front side head line. now a second vehicle possibly a dark green cadillac or lincoln suv also struck and fled the scene. that vehicle had a white vinyl decal of the family and stick figures on the back windshield. anybody with information is asked to call police. another deadly pedestrian accident, this time on the roosevelt boulevard, it happened just after 12:30 this morning at the boulevard and bennet road in the somerton section of northeast philadelphia. authorities tell "eyewitness news" that the driver did stop at that scene, and the accident is currently under investigation, the identity of the victim has in the been released. well, search is on for a gunman who shot a man 14 times in point breeze.

authorities tell us victim was shot while driving. his car careened in the house on south cleveland street. no one else was injured in the crash, and gunfire. the victim was rushed to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania where she was pronounced dead. police are now investigating. we have some breaking news for you this morning, the white house confirmed american photo journalist anal kada hostage luke somers has been killed during a rescue attempt. cbs news correspondent david martin reports that the raid was being carried out by navy seals who flew into central yemen. they were detect and militants had time to kill somers. also killed in the rate south african hostage pierre corky a relief care worker. president obama just released a statement reading in part on behalf of the american people i offer my deepest condolences to luke's family and to his loved ones. their despair and sorrow at this time are are beyond

words. 6:02. developing overnight the lapd has formally opened an investigation into sexual assault claims begins comedian bill cosby. it comes as detectives spent much of friday questioning an accuser who filed an complaint. "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson is live in the sat center with the developments, steve. >> reporter: good morning, nicole. experts knew this was coming. earlier this week lapd announced an open door policy for accusers to step forward. well, yesterday one of them did that and the lapd stuck to their policy. >> we don't turn people away because things are out of statute. you come to us especially with a sexual allegation, you know, we will work with you. >> reporter: lapd police chief charlie beck is making good on his promise. jidith huth is latest bill cosby victim to speak out publicly through her attorney gloria alred. friday hut h met with lapd detectives who opened an investigation into her claims despite the statute of

limitations expiring on the time period for at ledge crime. >> they are inviting individuals to file a report that is to meet or provide any evidence that they we may have and that is why we're here today. >> reporter: earlier in the week hut h filed suit alleging sexual abuse at just 15 years old at the playboy mansion in 1974. she says these are pictures of the pair together n response to huth's suit cosby's attorney filed for a dismissal claim huth had been trying to extort hundreds of thousands from cosby. the comedian has been accused by more than 20 million in recent weeks of sexual misconduct ranging from accusations of groping to incidents of drugging and raping. he has never been charged with a crime and his attorneys have denied these allegations. alred says there are many more with similar claims. >> i have many, many, many women who are contacting me.

>> reporter: here's the deal, prosecutors can do nothing, when it is outside the statute have of limitations. they cannot file a criminal case. so is what the deal with this? what does this mean? it means the investigations and findings that the lapd have can work in a civil case. so that is the direction that this is heading at this point no comment meanwhile from alred from the counter suit from the cosby camp. i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meantime, crews spent the day friday cleaning up cosby's star on the hollywood walk of fame after it was defaced. someone wrote the word rapist in three places on it. chamber of commerce released a statement decrying vandalism of the california state landmark. a preliminary hearing for accused trooper killer eric frein is now delayed after one of his lawyers withdraws from that case. frein was supposed to be in court this tuesday, but that hearing has been delayed until january 5th. defense asked the judge for more time to get a new attorney up to speed.

prosecutors had argued against the delay, frein was originally scheduled for a preliminary hearing back in november. he is charged with killing a pennsylvania state trooper and wounding a second trooper back in september. well, it was another night have of demonstrations all across the country. protesters are calling for change in the wake have of grand jury decisions that have prompted claims of racism in the american justice system. cbs news correspondent marley hall has the latest on the new round of demonstrations. >> i can't breathe. >> reporter: protests played out for a third night across the country on friday, as people, expressed their anger over recent cases, involving the deaths of unarmed black men, during confrontations with police. the the protesters method was peaceful, their weapon, inconvenience. in boston, demonstrators staged a die in the the middle of the major intersection, in philadelphia, high school students laid down in silent protest, in chicago, demonstrators blocked famous lake shore drive and in aurora

the streets and the the cars are wet. so you'll fine that little fine mist outside in a lot of the locations out there. then lets head out to the 39-degree temperature, one of the cooler ones and michael says chilly, wet with fog and other cast what a lovely way to start the day. lets lot at poconos right now. you can see that snow gun is doing nothing. there is a good reason for. that temperatures are above the the freezing mark. is there no making snow in the jack frost big boulder this morning. they are just going to have to wait for some of these colder temperatures or maybe mother nature to provide a little bit of snow for them. storm scan three, we have an active weather pattern going on today. we have a stalled out front and a low pressure system and then the combination is going to be bringing us some rain throughout the area and we're just going to have to, well, get ourselves all set up for a day that will be wet, today, and especially as we move into the afternoon and evening hours. and, it is all of this, that gets a little bit closer to us. right now we're very light and areas not picking up much in the way of anything in the way

of precipitation but it is obviously on the way. we are looking at all rain. these temperatures are in the 40's in some locations. philadelphia, trenton, i-95 corridor and south. the the upper 30's to the the north of that. even in the poconos, 34 degrees this morning. and, wet day to day, periods of rain, heavier rain is coming later this afternoon. generally between three-quarters and 1 inch of rain, ponding on the roads, and we're used to. that temperatures will be in the 50's today although you go far not to the north we're in the 40's. far enough to the south and you can be 60 degrees. rainfall amounts we will add them up quickly. by 7:00 o'clock tonight almost three-quarters of an inch of rain possibly through the philadelphia area and notice as we get through the rest of the night and would i say by 5:00 o'clock this thing is completely out of here tomorrow morning. so, almost an inch through philadelphia, some spots maybe a little bit over that. so, just know that this is a soaking rain. our future weather is pretty close to being on target for what it is actually happening right now. this was put out in, to the

future, so it was close, not perfect, but, close enough i think that we will find some of these rain showers through here in philadelphia at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon. not every place. you may find some areas that we are not looking at any showers but by 2:00 o'clock we are finding them through philadelphia and we will cover the shore areas at 4:00 o'clock this afternoon and it looks like everybody is keeping with these rain showers. do we get a dry slot coming in here at 7:00 o'clock for about 20 minutes? maybe? we will watch this pull away. by the the time we get to 1:00 o'clock in the morning this has speeded up clearing this thing out of here and we will start the morning with sunshine tomorrow but the wind will be picking up. as that thing leaves, those wind will be funneling down and we could be finding win gust as long the shore at 40 miles an hour and then as we go through philadelphia overnight tonight and tomorrow 30 miles an hour wind. and then this is that coastal system that i was mentioning in the top of the half an hour and we will be watching for this coming in here late monday, early tuesday, during the day on tuesday, and do we

find it tuesday night and also first part of the day on wednesday? it is possible. but, know that the track, the intensity not set on this, but i think we should just general liz think on that timetable that late monday night, maybe right through wednesday morning that we will get the possibility of the nor'easter moving on up the coast with some rain, some wet snow, again, precipitation types not set in stone either. none of it is. so just something to watch during that timetable. for the rest of the area today it is rain and we will fine that later on this after a noon in the 50's, philadelphia, shore, poconos 42 degrees, and then the wind not much today about five or 10 miles an hour. keep that umbrella haines. keep your pets also dry because it is a chill rain tonight, 38 degrees but gets out of here and wind start to pick up. we could fine win gusts overnight of 30 miles an hour. now the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, tomorrow 42. it will feel colder all day with the winds but it will be

be this morning and this afternoon and this evening when heavier rain will come in. 49 degrees in rehoboth beach. you can see their boardwalk is dry, good for them, it is not dry every where, and increasingly it will be getting wet around here. you can see on storm scan three in the wide view we have moisture off to the west and you can see the direction it is going and that is our direction. we can expect to find these rain showers later on but we will get in closer zoom here and you can see through allentown, reading a couple of light showers but many areas to the south not looking at anything at this point. that will be filling in later on today. if you are out in upper providence or up are hanover or upper anything, i think you'll probably find a few rain showers out there and they are the scattered around trenton as well but they will get heavier later on this afternoon, it is just dry right now, this is probably better part of the day and it is mild out there, for this time of the year this time of the morning. 44 degrees through center city. forty-three at the airport. forty-one trenton. forty-three wilmington. 37 degrees in allentown. forty-six in wildwood.

and temperatures this afternoon getting to about 53 degrees through philadelphia, areas to the north stay to the 40's. areas to the south get close to 60 degrees. and here's what you want to sianni this is our future weather. the computer models say by the time we hit 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon we are fining these rain showers moving in. some of them getting heavier. we will watch that trend as we go through the afternoon. we have another system once this one goes that may be impacting us on tuesday and i'll talk about that coming up, nicole. >> thanks, carol. rolling stone magazine is backpedaling issuing an apology for a store it it published about a woman allegedly gang rape at the a university of virginia fraternity party. it turns out that story may not be true. "eyewitness news" reporter david spun has more on the controversial article and its connection to the area. >> reporter: story called a rape on campus created an uproar, not just at uv a with you across the country, a female student who went by the name jackie told rolling stone magazine that seven men gang

raped her inside the university of virginia campus fraternity house in september 2012. uv a stopped all greek life activities because of the article. an independent council also got involved and now this woman philadelphia based author sabrina ruben early has tough questions to answer after rolling stone began backpedaling on the story friday afternoon. will dana, rolling stone managing editor wrote the following on the magazine's web site. because of the sensitive nature of jackie's story we decided to honor her request not to contact the man she claimed orchestrated the attack on her nor any of the men she claimed participate in the attack for fear of retaliation against her. he continue, we were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame, and humiliation, many women feel after a sexual assault and new regret the decision to not contact the alleged assaulters to get their account. students on campus reacted to the magazine's doubt have of jackie's story.

>> we should justin this, because it is an issue that pertains to everyone, not just females. >> reporter: we went to an address connect to early. a woman answered and said early did not live there anymore. we also e mailed and called early, but no answer there. uv a president teresa sullivan released a statement on friday telling the community that the school's focus is to stop sexual violence on campus. she says news about the rolling stone article should not stop that focus. reporting from the sat center, david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meanwhile volunteers hit the the streets again in the search for a missing west chester university student. family and friend of 21 year-old shane montgomery posted flyers on south street in philadelphia a. they also talk to bar goers there they are hoping to find information on montgomery's disappearance. he was last seen leaving kildares pub in manayunk early thanksgiving morning. >> we're saturating the city, we're all over the place, we are college kid trying to hit

happy hours. we may have somebody down this way have been in manayunk that night. >> reward in the disappearance of montgomery has listen to $40,000. well, new information in the torching of a detective's home in montgomery county. police say arsonist is a neighbor with a grudge. fire happened on commons drive on lower pottsgrove township. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones tells us how police captured that suspect. >> reporter: this fire investigators alleged was it by next door neighbor, court record indicate five two-year old donna krup had an axe to ground with her neighbor ernie morris. now the detective's home he hairs with his wife and two teenage daughters is destroyed just weeks before christmas. >> that is just crazy. it was something i have never seen before and would not like to see ever again. >> reporter: investigators alleged surveillance cameras from the detectives a's home show a woman believed to be krup walking across the front lawn here and using what appears to be a gas grill

lighter, to set the detective's christmas decorations on fire. now just last month the detective had the cameras installed, have after someone poured carmel into the gas tank have of his personal vehicle, causing just under $3,000 in damages. >> were you protecting your son? >> reporter: according to pennsylvania state police the the five two-year old woman blamed detective morris for her son's incarceration on unrelated charges. morris and his family were vacation nothing florida when the fire was set early thursday morning. no one was injured, krup right now is lock up facing numerous charges including arson and her bail set at 1 million n lower pottsgrove township todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> 6:35. subaru is on the move. the auto make are is moving its north american headquarters from cherry hill 4 miles down the road to camden. chopper three over the current headquarters on route 70 in cherry hill. subaru is seeking 118 million-dollar tax breaks over

ten years as part of that month. company will purchase a site near campbell's soup and plans to construct a new building there. it is a mission for a miracle, a south jersey school hopes to raise enough money to keep their doors open. as "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry tells us the st. paul's school in burlington has just six weeks to avoid closure. that has some students changing their wish list this christmas. st. paul elementary school in burlington is on the verge of closing its doors. the parish is sub dicing the 144 year-old school and can no longer afford the expense. now school has to raise $250,000 by january 15th. >> the original shock was, oh, no and then oh, no like we're not going to let this happen. >> reporter: principal william robbins says the the school will remain opened until june but the next school year is in jeopardy. >> we believe that we will do it six weeks. we can do it. >> my daughter says we have to do something.

>> reporter: st. paul is the only school kerry's two children have known. she and other parents will hold fundraisers hoping to spread the war. >> if the enrollment goes up then the subsidy goes down. >> reporter: parents and students are hoping for a christmas miracle. some students are forgoing toys and asking santa for a donation instead. >> we just know that the money for school is more important then a couple extra christmas presents. >> reporter: so far the school has raised about 25 you this dollars, the donations are tax deductible and any donation that is $50 or more will be returned if the goal, it is not met but if that happens the student will have to find a new place to learn. >> i don't want to have to start at a new you school where i don't know anybody and teachers don't know me and it just wouldn't be the same. >> reporter: now they are praying to save the school. >> is there such a thing as a christmas miracle. >> reporter: a miracle that will make sure this hallway won't stay empty. in burlington, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

well, on cbs-3 healthwatch think allergy season is over with our cooler temperatures? well, misery continues with winter allergies. health reporter stephanie stahl explains what causes them. >> reporter: not such a picture perfect day on independence mall where people were bundled up on a gray, winter day, inside many are sneezing and feeling itchy with allergies. >> people are miserable. >> reporter: allergy expert doctor kathleen sheeran says tree pollens are usually associated with allergies, but in the winter, people also suffer from indoor allergies. caused by dust mit es and pets. >> if you spend more time inside you will have more exposure to your pets during the winter season. >> reporter: no matter what causes the allergies the symptoms are still the same. >> you can have itchy eyes, itchy throat, itchy nose, a lot of people do this the allergic solute. runny, sneezing, congestion. those are allergy symptoms.

>> reporter: dust mit es can be found anywhere in the house, they thrive in warm humid environment in bedding, furniture and carpeting. >> covers on the mattress pillow, box spring are available on line and all of the linen type stores and can really make a difference if you are allergic to the dust mit es. washing in hot water helps. >> reporter: for pet allergies experts say it is best to keep them off furniture and wash them often. and for both indoor and pollen allergies doctors say medications are often effective. i'm stephanie stahl for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and a good rain storm helps get rid of some pollen. we're likely to find that today. our neighborhood weather watchers are up and they seem to be in a very om ber mood this morning. let's see, it is 39 degrees, doug faith has what to say, he says, another lousy day. he is speaking of the weather

and he is probably just about got that one right and then we will move to a 41-degree temperature at this point and phil says dank, dark, dreary and it is not fit foreman nor beast out there. temperatures are mild enough but it is still very, very glummy as we look and tim mitchell, he is being more meteorological in his comments, he goes a light rain with a light southeasterly wind. tim, thank you for always weighing in. we love having you guys on our show. so temperatures are mild right now. lets take a look and see just about the dank and dark and lucy day that we may be shaping up with today. so this is weather that does not look particularly bright, as we lot a ben franklin bridge and the sky above. now, down in rehoboth beach i noticed a bunch of people outside on the boardwalk wandering around. there must have been 30 of them wandering around down there. temperatures are in the bad at 48 degrees this morning. temperatures fine, not a

problem there. it is just all of the rest of the forecast that is the problem. forty-one in trenton, 43 in philadelphia, 43 in wilmington. we have 43 in dover. forty-six wildwood. 34 degrees in the poconos. they are not making snow and icing problem that they saw early during the overnight has ended with all of the warmer air coming in. notice it is not raining in a lot of locations especially to the south. rain is to the north at this point but there is so much more back to the west that we will start to fill all of this in. i'll show you on the computer model exactly what we expect. as far as rainfall amounts if you generally think three-quarters of an inch to an inch of rain by the time this is over, that is probably pretty close to it. this computer model has dropped down just the full amount of rain that is expecting, for the shore areas. it had it over an inch and now it is three-quarters of an inch or so. but just generally expect heavier rain to be moving in this afternoon in the amounts of three-quarters to 1 inch, ponding on the roads, of course, is possible and temperatures will be in the

50's today for most everybody. varying places in the 50's. you go far enough to the north it is in the 40's. far enough to the south, almost 60 degrees. computer model says by the time we hit noon time we are finding some of the pockets that the rain is moving in but it is not raining every where according to this computer model. as we go through a little bit the more time we will find still some maybe heavy rain moving through 3:00 o'clock this afternoon, trenton maybe just to the south and east of philadelphia, it is still not tote thely at the shore according to this computer model but it gets there and we will find by 5:00 o'clock rain over the area and heavy rains as well indicated by the yellows but the trend, notice the trend, that this is starting to clear out, and this is 10:00 o'clock tonight, we will still continue with rain showers this computer model is getting this thing out of here. several hours earlier then it did first thing this morning so expect by 2:00 o'clock in the morning according to many of the models that this leaves and then this leaves and will be left with the breezy, sunny day tomorrow and feel much

colder during the day tomorrow. now the next weather issue is going to be what comes up after that and that is going to be what could be a coastal system possibly a nor'easter moving in here. this is midnight so just after monday night into early tuesday morning we will start to see, some of the moisture moving in here and this computer model says most of us get rain out of it but enough cold air gets drawn in depending on the track some areas could be finding some snow to the north and to the west but it looks like a system that will be bothering us on this late monday night, really early tuesday, maybe right through early on wednesday, and with that coastal system. today it is an inland, moving over, just, garden variety rain storms, 53 in philadelphia, shore 55. poconos 42 degrees. it will be getting very windy around here though, tomorrow these wind at the shore will be 40 miles an hour, around here tomorrow gusting to about 30 miles an hour, so that is why the relatively calm wind will be a treat but with that,
