. a nor'easter slams the region bringing rain and in some cases snow to our area. here is a look at center city philadelphia and storm scan3, tracking the storm, as it churns up the coast. no matter where you live around the region there is storm will impact your morning commute.he region there is it is tuesday, december 9th, good morning, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehl. flood watches and winter storm warnings are already in effect in our area. we have live team coverage for this morning, want to start things off first with katie fehlinger in our weather center, katy? >> as you said, will end up a system affecting everybody in some way, shape or form. so we are going to see rain, some potential here for some sleet, some freezing rain, some snow, depending on location might even see accumulation out of it, but let's go ahead, take you right back outside. we at any time to start things offer by showing you the view

down the shore where we've already start today see the winds firing up out there. and you know what, picture is worth how many words? quite a few, in atlantic city. not only do you have the raindrops, sort of leading to this out of focus view on the camera lens, but that shaking going on at the camera, very clear indication that the winds is already beginning to howell down at the area shore point. now, taking it next to storm scan3, just showed you a second ago, we're essentially in the brunt you are dealing with significant rainfall, intensity, expecting few inches of rain to fall. by the time this is all said and donement obviously, also colder air on the no west back edge of this it, does look like this will be yet another system, that splits the delaware valley in two, essentially, so you need that real cold air, obviously, to see frozen precipitation.

now, where we've got winter storm warnings, you got to go pretty far north, up into carbon, monroe county ports northwest here, where you will likely find not just some snow, but potential sore some mixing with sleet and/or freezing rain, so the most slick travel will go to places like the i08 corridor, and by the time this is all said and done, may even be up to half foot of snow on the ground. meanwhile, winds is yet another concern. this is going to be a true to form nor'easter, combining in with it not just the heavy moisture, and the coastal component to the storm, but the fact it will really get the winds cranking, down toward the shore points, see the gusts peaking as high as 50 miles per hour through the day today. there are coastal flood warnings posted, for coastal new jersey and delaware, flooded watches, as go a little further inland, and again, you know, despite us calling this a nor'easter, maybe you just automatically think heavy snow. but his will ends up being more of major rain and wind event for us than anything, as we time things out for you here, later into the

afternoon, we may catch little bit after break. but the rain is going to be with us, this is a storm that's going to basically also be more of an unwanted house guest, for lack of better analogy here, because it will hang on for awhile. but the worse is happening basically right now. and, guys, we love to see your storm pictures, so you can post them to twitter, facebook, instagram, with the hashtag cbs-3 storm. could you see them right here on cbs-3. we would love to see what you're seeing out your window. >> talk to you in a little bit. coastal communities preparing to bear the brunt of this storm system. >> jan carabeo joins just atlantic city with what the conditions look like there, jan, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, here we are on the north ends of the atlantic city boardwalk, we are already heavy rain and whipping wind, i'm trying my best to keep my back to the wind for as long as possible. i think this is the most dry i'll be all morning, of course, see here in atlantic city a lot of rough surf that

we're seeing, these folks are bracing for this storm, of corpse, as katie just mentioned, we are expecting 45 to 50 miles per hour wind gusts here, 3 inches of rain, folks are expecting some tidal flooding at high tide, that hit this area right around 9:00 this morning. the winds is really pounding us right now, and i'm sure you can see that on camera, and see the rain going right into the lens there. making our way to this live location, not treat either. our live truck was being blown around in the wind, there is already a lot of ponding, on the roadways here, both on the atlantic city expressway and on area roads as we are making our way down to the shore line. what we're experiencing all morning long, you can see the rough surf, high waves crashing into the shore line here in atlantic city. again, the rain coming across the screen, the wind just pushing it from side to side. much more from atlantic city all morning long, but for now, live along the north end of the boards walk, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thanks so much for. that will while the jersey

shore is worried about flooding, drivers in and around the philadelphia area are dealing with a lot of rain. >> "eyewitness news" meteorologist, justin drabek, joins us in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab on i95 in philadelphia, justin, what are you seeing out there? >> reporter: all right, good morning, erika. good news traffic pretty light obviously at this time. we are dealing with the wind driven rain. this is a check on i95, right now, headed toward the woodhaven road exit. again, not many cars outside right now, but we did pass an accident around the harbison exit going south on 95, so yes, this will be a problem certainly ponding on the roads. this is a good steady rain right now, you need the wiper blades running high, temperature holding right around 35 degrees, we are above freezing, so just looking at liquid precipitation here around philadelphia. we will continue to head north into bucks, montgomery county, certainly, they will be dealing with the heavy rain, as well. but again, traffic right now, looking pretty light. speeds down to about 50 miles per hour, a lot of road spray

to deal with this morning, and the rain will continue to pick up. yes, you will have to allow the extra drive time, get outside early, little bit if you can, and allow few extra minutes headed into work or where ever your destination is this morning. just take it easy out there, a loft rain to deal with this morning. so that's a check here, what's happening on i95 northbound, more updates coming back through the morning and for the rest of traffic, we send it back to the studio with jessica. >> good morning, that's great to see like an actual, what's actually going on inside your car driving down i-95. your cameras on i95, approaching the betsy ross bridge, we can see police activity, ambulances on the scene here, on the southbound lanes toward the betsy ross bridge, see most of that, delay or back up if there is any volume that begins to accumulate at this time. pushed over to the side as a vehicle has actually hit one of the guardrails there. now, over on the ben franklin bridge from the jersey side, so, from the toll plaza, no problems currently, because there is nothing really in much of the way of volume. but we can see everything shiny, slippery, headed westbound into the city now

over in the lehigh valley, getting report of icy conditions, on the northeast extension, 78, route 22, so we just want you to use caution in advance. now, the talcony palmyra bridge on stand by for opening, currently in the next few minutes, so in the meantime you want to take the betsy ross bridge to avoid any small residual delays there. out in montgomery count a accident, where a vehicle has actually hit a pole, washington lane, and redd rambler road. we know will be a busy busy morning. give yourselves couple of extra minute before you head out the door. montgomery county another crash egypt road, buck walter road. we will keep you updated for any delays at the airport. >> in other news this morning, breaking right now, police are are responding to fire on the 1600 block of middleton street in west oaklane. mobile three giving us live look at the scene right now. flames broke out shortly before 3:00 this morning in the basement after two story home. now that fire spread to the first and second floor. one person was treated for minor injuries. we do have a crew on the scene. more information as it comes into us. meanwhile the delaware

state fire marshall says these men, seen here, are behind bars in connection with three church arsons in felton. authorities arrested alex harrington, jr., and joseph scotchlak monday afternoon. bone suspect face several charges for the december arson that destroyed one church and damaged two other. investigators say that all three fires caused about $80,000 in damages. luckily no injuries were reported. >> a woman killed along with two of her young children after this private jet crashed into their maryland home has ties to our area. >> thirty-six year old marie gimbell is originally from brick township, new jersey, police say they found marie shielding her three year olan one month old inside the burning home. three people on board the jet also died. neighbors quickly returned to help after the crash. >> just engulfed, especially the one section, and then we got out, and then the lady was screaming there was people inside.

so we tried to get near the house, but there was no way. there was -- it was like a wall of heat. >> marie's daughter and husband were not home at the time of the crash. the ntsb has recovered the flight recorders and investigators are analyzing the data. >> police in philadelphia are looking for a suspected rapist this morning. police say a man assault add 23 year old woman last night in west philadelphia. it happened at 47th and chestnut street. the victim was hospitalized. police have not named any suspects. >> it is 4:09. much more ahead on "eyewitness news" this morning, straight ahead, a controversial report on the ci. dealing with additional rain, wet snow showers even for the next two days, beyond today. here's your winds, nor'easter, northeast winds, then there you have it. it is basically a north-northeast wind right now, cranking as high as sustained winds of 21 miles per hour down toward dover. that will be he will be stick with us, because the winds can really shove the water on shore, you get numerous coastal flood advisories out there in sort of neon green, advisories, salem, new castle counties, but straight up flood warnings, for coastal flooding, up and down the rest of the delaware coast and new jersey. >> winter weather advisories in effect basically chester, up to bucks, then across the delaware river into new jersey, points northwest. you get winter storm warnings up through carbon, monroe, but winter weather advisories in effect basically through the rest of this morning, for all of the counties shaded in

new jersey, and good chunk every southeastern pennsylvania, in philadelphia, itself, this is mainly a heavy rain, and wind event, and even as you look at the rest of the eastern seaboard, even further inland, things pretty calm and collected. basically where it is at with the big weather story, storm slowly glides to the northeast, but then, there is a large dome of high pressure to the northeast of the storm. that's going to block it from moving out of here. that's why it sort of hangs out, and meanders for awhile, and we will still have additional showers every rain and even some wet snow through the next couple of days. currently though we do have flood watches in effect through the entire region shaded in the green here, and that does include obviously portions of delaware, philadelphia county, out even into chester, bucks, good sector of the delaware valley included here. >> also coastal flood warnings, and advisories posted, for all of coastal

delaware, new jersey, here are some your tide times. rehoboth, 9:20 a.m. when the high tide comes in. and it is generally within say that nine to 9:30 window, that you're going to see some of the highest tides come in. that's generally when you are going to see the worse of least of the potential for tidal flooding here >> freezing rain, sleet, snow may mix in. no matter the precipitation type, it will get dicey headed up north. winter weather advisories posted for chester, plonl gum are you, bucks county, point off to the east. so, you will see that early mixing potentially in coldest suburbs, will eventually turn over to rain, inned watches as we showed you, around philadelphia, delco counties and points east and south,
