>> good morning, dealing with a nor'easter this morning, this is what it look like in northeast philly where the driving rain can significantly hamper the morning commute and walking, as well. me areas are dealing with flood watches, others have winter storm warnings. >> looks like so miserable out there right now. we have live team coverage for this morning, right over to meteorologist, katie fehlinger in our weather center we can expect soggy nay general, guys. this will be one of those storms splits the delaware valley in half. rain, gusty wind for a good chunk of our region but also wintery precipitation along
4:31 am
with this as the rain snow line is very evident, over our area right now. and the brunt of this storm is truely falling, as we speak. with some of the heaviest rain that we're actually going to find out of this. when we look strictly at just the tri-state sweep, being made around our region, i mean, look at this, very obvious chunk where you have got the heaviest moisture, falling right now, delaware catching a break at this hour, but doesn't mean it will stay that way. off to the northwest, shady area come nothing play. there will be slick travel anywhere that you have the temperature just cold enough, to maybe lead to the rain to freeze on contact, or perhaps for some sleet to fall down. my advice, if you're about ready to hit the road, traveling, you know, maybe ten to 15 miles or even more than that, keep an eye on the temperature in your car, if it does drop, if it does start freezing, slow down, it will be tricky morning drive for sure with heavy rain, win, big

story around philadelphia and points southeast, ponding, you better believe it on those roadways and poor drainage flooding also a concern, you want to just slow down. meanwhile, this is basically a winter event. as go far enough north and west, go up to carbon, monroe counties, i80 interchange, you will likely be dealing with one to 3 inches generally speaking, maybe even as much as a half foot locally. so, that is where you will see the little sweet spot of snow coming into play here, in addition, few winter weather advisories posted through the central sliver of our region, and then if you go far enough south and east toward the shore line, you have got coastal flood warnings in effect. so we are lit up like the proverbial christmas tree here with all of these different watches, warnings, advisories, gusting northeasterly winds help really shove that water on shore, and because we have the wind, because we have the heavy rain, i mean, it is a perfect recipe for some coastal flooding concerns. and general window for that high tide, the next one to come in, is about say four and a half hours from now, from about 9:00 to 9:30.
4:33 am
that's the general window for most of our area shore points, to see the high tide come in. there we stand with the temperatures. see split across the board, 38 in philly versus 30 in he had rag. >> you will see sleet, freezing rain, but way too warm for that down toward wildwood, for example. so, just depending on your location, you know, again, keep an eye on that car thermometer when you are driving out and about. it will give you better gauge of perhaps where it may be slicker but bottom line, do you have slow down, because essentially the whole day here is going to provide some slow travel, with rain falling, almost any time, perhaps a little bit after midday break here, but there will be wet weather in our forecast, pretty much right through today around tonight. might see the pictures right here on cbs-3, guys, we send it back over to you. >> flooding is big concern down the shore, as this
4:34 am
powerful nor'easter starts to make its way off the coast. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins just atlantic sit which more on how things are looking there, jan, good morning. >> thank goodness i have the hood and the hat on underneath this morning, it is hard to hide from this rain, because it is pouring out here, in atlantic city, the winds is pushing it sideways, and trying to keep it to my back as long as possible, but you can see, just how strong the winds is, it is churning up the ocean as katie was mentioning, pushing it along shore here, it is really getting high and rough and folks along the shore really bracing for this nor'easter, will see this heavy rain, the whipping winds, we're expecting between 45 and 50 miles per hour wind gusts. tidal flooding, when high tide comes in in atlantic city, scheduled for just before 9:00 this morning, and if you take a look at the video, we shot this along the atlantic city expressway making our way down the shore, you can see, how strong that wind is, those
4:35 am
flags whipping in the wind, a lot of ponding is already happening, there, in that parking lot, along the expressway, here on the area roads, you have to be careful when you're out there, our truck, trying to make our way to our live location being pushed around in the wind, of course, you have that ponding, possibility to hydroplane, you have to be careful. back out her life again you can see the rough surround every just beading the beach this morning all morning flong atlantic city, winds the main thing out here with it pushing the water just across not only the beach but across our lens here, and across the screen. back to you guys in the studio for now. >> okay, jen, thanks so much for that. one of our co-workers said she hit some ponding, lost control for few seconds, but it felt like eternity. >> certainly. >> no cars around at the time. but commuters in and around philadelphia dealing with the rain which could slow their trip to work. >> hopefully you are slowing down. >> coverage continues right now with meteorologist, justin drabick, out in the cbs-3

mobile weather lab. i understand you're out in bucks county now, justin? >> reporter: warrington township 611 north. i'm telling you there is won't be a fun commute later this morning once we get the traffic up. traffic light at this time of morning. rain, pretty wind driven, let up just a little bit, but still enough where you need to have the wiper blades going, and a loft ponding on the roads, we were on 95, certainly, speeds little slower there, did see one accident, as well, not sure if it was weather-related or not. but, i think that's going to be issue later on specially when we get high volume traffic. we are in a winter weather advisory where we are for bucks county. but you can see, liquid rain, but temperature holding right around 32 degrees, so, there could be a few icy spots, specially on elevated surfaces in some of the sidewalks, just keep that in mind. but temperatures will slowly be on the rise. and again, just going to be off and on pockets of heavy rain, that move through over the next few hours, so again, just pack your patience, allow
4:37 am
the extra drive time, again, this is six-11 headed northbound toward doylestown bucks county. so just slow go this morning. that's the latest here out in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab, cold wind driven rain slowing things down on the road. for more on traffic we send it back to the studio with you, jess. >> good proof to see exactly waist going on. we can see we have several incidents across the board, luckily not much in the way of volume here. over on 95 at the betsy ross bridge, still accident with police activation the scene, kind of splitting offer to the left-hand lane, part of the left hand shoulder headed southbound currently all lanes open there, so that's some good news. over on the blue route mid-county, everything moving along nicely here, on the southbound lanes, and north bound, you can see, everything shiny and speaking of shiny, icy conditions, we do have some conditions like that in the lehigh val that i getting report of. so we want you to use caution when traveling through on the northeast extension, 78, route 22, at least give yourself some extra time. all traffic currently moving
4:38 am
on on the talcony palmyra bridge. you just might expect some small residual delays and still given yourself extra time when traveling on by. so now we do have road flooding out in jersey few spots, route 47, high street, and more flooding on the black horse pike and cologne avenue. out in montgomery count a crash pushed to the right-hand lane, washington lane, redd rambler rain. no delays at the philadelphia international airport. we can expect them later in the conditions do get worse. back to you. >> if you have ordered from certain camden county pizzeria, police check your statement. winslow township police have charged the owner of bell pizza two of over charging customers. henry fernandez, jr., charged with several counts of credit cards fraud and forgery. after numerous complaints, police started buying pizzas from the shop, using pre-paid gift cards. >> what we found out was every time that we made a transaction, they also charged our cards an additional $10. >> in a statement fernandez attorney says my client has
4:39 am
been cooperative with the winslow township police department, as you're wear, my client retains the presumption of innocence once we have the opportunity to see the evidence, we will be in better position to comment on the merit of the case. right now, it is 4:39. and hundreds of bucks county muslims join in a lawsuit claiming off initials bensalem won't allow them to build a mosque. 200 families currently worship in this fire hall. they've been trying for years to build at this site on hulmeville road, but their zoning petitions keep getting denied. the families are now working with the council on american islamic relations, they say the mosque would be funded by private donations, all they're asking for is permission to build. religion place important parts of our life, part of our family life, not just my case, the case for 200 families, in that area. so we just want to applause to be able to practice, pray, just like everybody else. >> now, we reached out to off

dramatic dash cam video, chase and fire in wisconsin. started when a man robbed a semi truck driver with a bb gun in a convenience store across the street from the sheriff's offers. look at this. this is one of the cars involved in that robberiment you can see, eventually it, crashes right there, where did it go, in a around about. police arrested four people. authorities are still looking for the man who robbed that driver. investigators now believe that this enormous fire we showed it to you yesterday morning, in los angeles, it engulfed unfinished apartment complex, in downtown los
4:43 am
angeles, it turns out it, may have been set intentionally. >> more than 250 firefighters fought the flames. they were forced to shut down parts of two major highways in that area. officials estimate the fire caused around $10 million in damages. it also damaged two neighboring buildings. investigators say, they suspect arson, because the flames errupted so quickly, over so much of that structure. >> also, in california two, people are in the hospital this morning after that car slapped into a restaurant in orange county. witnesses say that a worker and young girl were sitting at a table yesterday afternoon when the silver mercedes hauled through the front of the building and hit them. the driver, 73 year old woman, suffered minor injuries. witnesses say she hit another car before careening into that restaurant. >> all right, let's get the latest on this storm with katie. good morning. >> and good morning, erika. we absolutely have our hands full right now. so many different colors showing up here on storm scan, indicating the rain-snow line more than anything just set upright over our area.
4:44 am
but, you can see, on the tail end of the loop, as starting to get closer and closer to sunrise, that's about the time that our air mass typically would feature the coldest temperatures, because, you don't have the benefit of any of the daytime heat willing. you can see how some of the pinks start to show up here right on the tail end of the loop. heavy rain, though, the main story here for basically everyone else. obviously little break going on here, through the first state of delaware. that will change, as eventually more moisture wraps in, but here is your developing storm, obviously, little rotation, very evident on storm scan. and as this continues to intensify, move northeast, just going to be stuck basically with the better part of the day being damp, soggy, windy, and potentially slick out, there as well. so when this storm would go to the northeast, a loft times it would zip right out, we would be done with it, right? not so fast. notice the area of high pressure essentially setting up roadblock for this storm. so, it is going to sit and rotate and meander and be a big old nuisance, and i would say a big hazard, especially,
4:45 am
for new england, and for us it is more after nuisance, though, because by this point the back edge of the storm just sort of hanging nearby. but today, bridges biggest many pact of heavy rain, gusts as high as 40, 45 miles per hour, maybe even up to 50 down toward the shore. the gusts get higher, the closer you get to the shore points, coastal flood warnings, because of that, winter storm warnings in effect for the poconos. see mixed bag. generally expecting in terms of frozen precipitation, you want to go up toward basically the extreme northwestern corder of chester, montgomery, bucks, across the delaware points northwest. that is where you will find any frozen prepare zip takes mixing in, eventually turn over to rain for almost everybody. but if you are high enough into the terrain, the poconos, you will very likely end one more snow than anything. looking at our current wind speeds, talking about that coastal flooding here's why. because you have got persistent winds, and depending on the shore point, if you're out in some of the barrier islands that wind just shoving the water on shore.
4:46 am
he tide, a spot typically flooding out, very likely going to flood out here today. heavy rain, gusting as we mentioned, high of 45, locally 50 miles per hour, at the immediate shore, and beach errosion pretty much a given in when dealing with this kinds of system. now, as i said, this is going to hang on with us, still lingering rain, snow showers, even tomorrow, and thursday, but the brunt is now the worse of the flooding, the worse of the wintery weather, all of it happens today news as showers moving forward in the nor cast. we send it back to you. >> still ahead, group behind unprecedented cyber attack, against sony, going after the company again. >> more on that coming up. first what's coming up tonight on cbs-3-3.

4:53 am
>> we do have our eye on the storm. right outside, what you can expect in your neighborhood. starting things off in delaware, some cameras shaking going on here, look at that wind. 34-mile per hour sustained winds, have seen higher gusts as far as the 50's, it is chilly, but it is too warm for anything but plane rain, around delaware, catching little break. you can see the brunt of this rain, certainly, falling through new jersey, and some slick travel, expected where ever you see the pink showing up on storm scan to the north and west, where you have winter weather advisories posted until this morning,

pending on location, maw see it expire little sooner than others, but looking at the future rain amends. obvious bull's eye here there could be inches worth of accumulation it, will taper the further inland you go. so, flooding, and wind, i would say, it is really our big two issues out of the storm system. again, farther north and west, where enough cold air; you will find slick travel eyewitness weather forecast, certainly an active one to start it off here. there will be lingering rain, snow showers, as late as tomorrow and even thursday. jess, over to you. >> slick travel is right. coming up on 5:00 a.m., we go outside, show you, couple every incidents across the board here, we start off 95, where earlier accident vehicle actually had hit the center median there. so we do have activity on the scene. you can see crews there trying to get that out of the way. now they are in the left-hand lane, earlier they had all lanes block off. you can still expect residual delays. now that they've crews up in the area right now, we can

expect all of the lanes possibly to close again in the next couple of minute at the bet is is he ross bridge headed southbound. i lover the sean the the schuylkill, 202, see on the street light how hard the rain is coming down, what exactly ponding out on the roadways there, but the eastbound lanes moving along great still even though little bit slower than normal, westbound lanes moving along just okay, as well. now, lehigh valley getting report every icy conditions, so we just want you to leave little earlier, use some caution, northeast extention, 78 and route 22, now, on stand by for opening at the burlington bristol bridge, time being take the talcony-palmyra bridge. several supports, starting to get report of some flooding, route 47, high street, and black horse pike, at cologne avenue. ukee being back over to you. >> thanks so much. checking stories our sister station "kyw news radio" 1060. dramatic testimony in the trial of 25 year old man charged with murdering an off-duty philadelphia police officer in 2012.

5:00 am
today, for sure. but this is going to be one of those systems that lingers. it won't leave us alone, because it is going to hit a roadblock, not have chance to really move on out. so the brunt is with us, as we speak. pretty obvious, right? heavy rain falling through the garden state, mixing taking place back through the lehigh vale, as well as lancaster, berks county where you may have the slick travel this morning. but, don't, you know, necessarily brush off the fact that you've got just rain, in jersey, because you're getting soaked down that way. so, ponding on roadways, slick travel, gusty winds to reduce your visibility, i mean, you have the whole mixed bag going on out there. >> winter weather advisories taking up central sliver of the delaware valley again where we are beginning to see mixing take place, so you might see few wet snowflakes, little sleet perhaps rain that freezes on conta
