>> philadelphia fire department is in mourning right now, after a firefighter is killed battling a fire at this row home on middleton street. the fire started in the basement, and then spread upstairs. we do have a crew on the scene gathering more information, but again, a philadelphia firefighter has died in the line of duty this morning, at a house fire in west oaklane. >> also, happening right now, you want to grab your umbrella butch head out the door. just a wet and windy morning, and you could see snow depending on where you are. a steady rain falling here, in north philadelphia, and across the area. storm scan3, shows, we will be

getting soaked for awhile, too. so just get used to it. >> down the shore not just the rain they're worried about, also flooding fears this morning. we'll check in live with our crew at that location in just a moment. >> right now, though, just as we've been saying, real a mess out there this morning. >> absolutely, yes. there is at least little break for some spots. right now, we're not done with this. you know, far from being out of the woods with this storm system just yet. and what we are going to find out, there the delaware valley essentially gets split in half where you s some wintery precipitation mixing in for some spots, otherwise, basically just heavy rain. now, actually i already got the question on twitter. are we done with the worse of it? now just sort of light rain in the northern liberties, came in from adam, i believe walking his dog this morning, hopefully with a umbrella but we do still have very heavy rainout, there yes, i would say, if you get out of the brunt of that bright yellow, and the orange that we find currently over the garden state, i would say the worse of what this storm had to

offer up may have wound down for you! doesn't mean you're done with the whole thing yet. far from it. but, you know, this is real the worse of it. and you can see, the pink also mixing in, indicating there is frozen precipitation, as well. now, that said every jersey and delaware shore point, has some advisory in place, two winter storm warnings as you head further off to the north here, where you could be ending up with three-6 inches every snow as well as icing up through portions of the poconos here today. inbetween, you have got a slew of flood watches, as well as winter weather advisories. so, it is solo case dependent, everyone gets an impact out of this, and here is a general synopsis of the bullet points, a one to three-inch swat of rain could readthrough flooding, wind gusts 45, perhaps 50, up the coastline, tidal flood sag expectation as an r i just showed you snow up in the poconos, looking at the

you can see from the street light there, you can see how shiny everything is. see the ponding on the roadways, and over in the corners, and the shoulders, there as they drive-thru, see the mist flying up from the cars as they travel on by. that's really important. so we know that there could be hydroplaning, incidents where you are a little bit more, roadways, little more slippery than you're used to. eastbound lanes moving great, westbound toward the schuylkill, no problems there, but still give yourself extra time. over on the platt bridge, thinks moving great on 95, westbound lanes okay, eastbound lanes little bit of brake lights there, slow going over the bridge there as well. out in the lehigh valley getting report every icy conditions, possibly just slippery there. so they want you to use caution on the northeast extension, 78 and route 22, erika, back to you. >> depending where you are, forget the umbrella break out the poncho. rain is blowing sideways down the shore. keep our eye on the storm with "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo. she is soaked told us in the last life shot in atlantic city, just braving the l.

>> see if stocks can rebound today, loyal oil prices and some disappointing economic news from europe and asia, sent the markets lower, the dow dropped 106 points, the nasdaq slipped 40. well, pharmaceutical giant merck says it will be buying cubes, advanced antibiotic research, deal worth about $8.4 billion. merck says it wants to focus on tackling so-called super bugs, that have developed a resistance to antibiotics. american airlines is getting a upgrade. the airlines says it is spending $2 billion to add seat to planes, better entertainment options, internet access. lounges will get a make over. past few years the airline had been focused on operational issues, while it merged with us airways. and, if you have a sweet tooth in the morning, some good news. general mills is bringing back its beloved french toast crunch.

looks like with the worse in terms of any kind of icing or slick travel here this morning. but everybody's getting affected. tocold morning, light rain, actually icing on cars, freezing rain, there you have it, rain, freezing on contact, and actual temperature michael reported right at freezing. we take you little further south here through new castle, and sussex, or rather kent county, delaware, where jason sent in 38 degrees, generally just clouds, so the rain actually let up little bit, answer said the heaviest sparing his region. but you're not catching a break down the shore here where tim mitchell one of our gold star reporters sent in heavy rain, down in tuckerton, new jersey, at rate of just over .2 of an inch per hour. wind gusting as high as 29 miles per hour right now, temperatures just way too warm for anything but plane old rain, you have 42 degrees sent in from him over the last hour, we go to storm scan3 next, as i mentioned a moment

ago, very heavy rain falling, essentially right through the garden state. but some of that mixing is still taking place here, where the temperatures are very, very marginal. and you're going to be finding little pockets. you've got one little pocket, of some icing, and some snowflakes, so, just keep an eye on the car thermometer, that's the best advice i can give you here, headed further inland, you may be running into differing conditions, and changeable weather, as you travel, what i want to show you here though the fact we're getting spared with the worse, granted likely see few inches of snow specially through lehigh valley pocono region, but bulk of the snow goes to northern new england, atlantic canada, that's where the storm will basically set up shop for couple every days it, will still rotate additional showers of rain or snow, tomorrow, and even thursday, but the brunt of the storm is happening right now. so what will likely only start to get little bit better with time for the second half of the day and beyond, but up

until that point, definitely going to be little dicey out there. we do want to continue our team three weather coverage, meteorologist, justin dray brick, live with the mobile weather lab, hey, justin? >> now in quakertown, actually, the intersection of broad and 309. going to head up 309 northbound, and you can see, the rain still coming down pretty good. it pick up little while ago, on our way from doylestown, into quakertown, and still coming down at pretty good clip. again the cool thing about the cbs-3 mobile weather lab, we had the temperature here sitting at 31 degrees, so below freezing where we are right now, broad and 309, quakertown, so yes, there could be some freezing rain on those untreated surfaces so watch out for some of the sidewalks, and elevated surfaces, and pretty much what to expect this morning, talking about a wind driven commute, ponding on the road, seeing a lot of that. going to have to use the extra caution, just slow down on the

"eyewitness news" begins this morning, from west oaklane. a philadelphia firefighter dice in the line of duty. that firefighter was battling flames at this row home on the 1600 block of middleton street. we're told the fire started in the basement, and then spread to the first and second floors. the cause that far fire is under investigation. once again, though, a philadelphia firefighter has passed this morning, battling a fast fire in west oaklane. >> we also have our eye on the storm this morning, and a nor'easter just slamming the region, check out this picture here, it is packing quite a punch. looking live at atlantic city where coastal flooding is
