>> in the news, developing right now, philadelphia police say they've caught manna tacking female college student in university sit. >> i now they say they want to know if he is the same man who assaulted several other women in that area. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now at southwest detective with the latest information. jan, good morning. student in university sit have i been on edge this week after learning about a number of assault and robberies, in this campus exon at this, but now police have five year old nan custody. they say he was caught in the middle of attacking an university of pennsylvania graduate student, and now they are trying to see if he is linked to four other cases. skype of the most recent attack, 41st and pine streets,

where university of pennsylvania grad student sent hit in the head and nearly robbed. >> it is terrifying, not a great feeling knowing can you not be snafu own neighborhood. >> scary, i would advise caution. >> just one every many attacks on u pen and drexel student then the week, latest happened about 6:30 thursday evening. police say a woman is walking alone on pine street. when a five a year old man, hit her with a bike lock. >> strikes letter in the back of the head with a bike lock. and demand her purse, nine officers in the area because of recent rash of robberies that have been occurring. and they see the offender, dragging the victim, about 50 yards, immediately jump out of their car and able to rescue her. >> as agent end taken into custody. now police believe this man could be linked to other cases. earlier on thursday, there were two broad daylight assault, as drexel university, on monday 23 year old woman was sexually assaulted at 47th and chestnut, and on saturday, another woman was attack, but escaped her

attacker on 41st and sansom. >> two occurred on drexel campus, by clothing, the robbery today where he's seen by officers grabbing this young lady, pulling her down the street, robs her. >> have all stepped up patrols because of the assaults. all five victims women walking along, all college student. meantime this 55 year old man who is in custody most certainly will be charged with the assault of that university of pennsylvania graduate student from yesterday. again police working to link him to the other four cases. reporting live outside in southwest detective, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thank you, new this morning, shooting in kensington claims one man's life and another man is critically injured. a 24 year old man was shot at least three times near

bellmore. another shot near the scene. he is he's in critical condition, so far, police have made no arrests. drive is killed when his car burst into a wall and burst into flames. kingsessing neighborhood. eyewitnesses told police the driver was going very fast when he ran a red light and lost control, just past the intersection, of lindberg boulevard and grays ferry avenue. the identity of that driver is not being released. >> bartrum high will open on time, so, kids, you can't ignore the snooze. get out of bed. time to get going. 03:00, hey at least you don't need to bring an umbrella? >> absolutely not. what you do want to bring along your heavy coat, scarfs, gloves, it will be warranted on day like this. we will notice little bit of breeze out there.

>> travel on majors, easy commute so far. things will definitely change when that beautiful sun comes up, the rush will come in, but as we wait on it, it is very tranquil. a look at the schuylkill, no delays on other direction, this is over south street. you notice it does matter which direction you're traveling, maybe you're headed even toward the area of the walt whitman bridge, maybe headed westbound, throughout the western suburbs, no problems, no delays, speed censors nice and high for you. as we continue to move now to 422, the eastbound side, starting to pick up few more vehicles, again, no signs of a rush hour. even now, at 6:05, averaging speeds are still high up into the 50's, take a look at the schuylkill, 95, even the blue route, pa turnpike, all looking great. and things also look great in delaware, new jersey, no delays for mass transit. we head back to the desk.

mourn he is begin paying respect to firefighter joyce craig. died early tuesday in a fire in west oaklane, first female fire fighters to die in the line every duty. craig was trapped in the basement of a burning home, she was a 11 year veteran of the city's fire department. the cause that far fire has yet to be determined. tonight bachelors brothers funeral services north broad street, the viewing, and the burial at ivy hill cemetery. >> philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who shot a 13 year old boy in his wissinoming home. investigators say, he was sitting on his dining room, in his dining room, rather, the 4,000 block of crest ton street when two men trying to rob a 34 year old man on the front porch. that man ran into the house, and tried to shut the door. shot were fired through the door, hit that teen. >> the 34 year old resident was able to slam the front door, on these two perpetrators, while shots were being fired.

been called in this morning, ready for the wind and rain. the san francisco bay area bore the brunt of it yesterday. strong winds, knocked treason to homes, and onto power lines, leaving hundreds of thousands of customers in the dark. the rain is helping alleviate three years of a historic doubt in california. >> definitely some much needed rain. but not enough to substancially tackle the drought that we've been facing here, and erika, ukee, i know what you are probably thinking, 35 agrees in philadelphia, you guys are whimps out here in california. but, we have been doing rain dances for a long time, so, this rain is very welcome for us. >> so true. >> i know it is. >> hopefully no mudslides, here's hoping. >> thanks. >> 6:13, here's our traffic and weather together. katy? >> you know that very same storm on the pacific coast, ukee, may eventually have at least modest impact on us. i don't think we are looking at anything close to what they'll find across california

as we just heard on the report, but there is the storm on storm scan. nice big wide open space here, across the rest of the us, though, as we continue to watch our nor'easter retreat and high pressure taking control. so let's take a look instead at what this pass is going to do here with the storm that's out west right now, that we just reported on. and does appear that you need the jet stream more than anything, it appears enough of a king in the jet stream it, sends this storm on little more of northerly track. may end up being more of great lakes, eastern canada issue, than anything, by the time it gets close enough to us. soap, we are sitting pretty here with quiet weather, high pressure for the next couple of days, tuesday would be the day if we see that storm actually affect us, it would bring in potentially shower. that would be it. look at the temperatures at that point. ooh degrees, not shabby, for mid to late december, normally we would be only into the mid 40's, do see seasonable weather sunday, just keep that nice warmer air on tap for you for monday, tuesday, and wednesday, at this point. vittoria?

>> thank you so much, katie. good morning, everyone, so traveling on all of the majors, i feel like every time i come up i have the same story. but that is the story. >> notice 95 looks great, maybe headed down the vine street expressway, the ramp wide open. continuing further south beyond the vine st. expressway you may find touch of traffic through the construction zones building around cottman avenue and girard because usually where it starts. but see with our speed censors in just a little bit it is not awful. take look at the vine street expressway, beautiful, westbound approaching the schuylkill, eastbound toward 95, no major delays at all. leer ed censors, see, only slightly dropping down to 41 miles per hour on 995 southbound, headed out of the northeast. again, just those points of construction where we are starting to see just the slight drop. fifty-five still your average on the schuylkill, same on 476. no delays for mass transit. things at the airport look great. >> thank you, developing story right now, police questioning man about a series of attacks in university city.

match aris dollars by plane clothes police, say they saw him hit female college student on bike, with a bike lock, last night. investigators want to know if he is connected to other attacks on penn and drexel students? police say speed was a factor in this deadly crash in kingsessing. one man was killed, when his vehicle rolled over hit a building and caught fire. >> this woman missing since december 5th. fifty-eight year old susan johnson last seen at her home in gloucester township. she could be driving a 2004 saturn. >> be right back.

southwest detectives with the latest information. jan, good morning >> police are wondering if he is the same man responsible as you mentioned for assaulting, possibly, robbing five other college students, university city and this week alone. now there is most recent assault came at 30:00 last night, at 41st and pine streets, near the campus of u pen, police, a woman was walking alone on pine street. >> suspect demanded her purse, fortunately, police officers already in the area, because of other recent robberies, they saw the suspect dragging this woman down the street, and jumped into rescue her, again the latest incident, police believe this man could be linked to two broad daylight assaults, on drexel campus yesterday, also, at 23 year old woman was sexually assaulted at 47th and chestnut

up. it is 6:34. we're seeing delays making your way throughout your western suburbs, so really approaching city avenue, and then out toward gladwynn, is the start of this slow-down. you know how the schuylkill is. it will only get worse from there. moving on now to new jersey, 42 freeway, traveling northbound, seeing delays approaching the area of 295. this shot here at creek road, then making your way out toward the walt whitman bridge, maybe headed toward the ben franklin bridge, once you get to the bridge, doing okay. but, as we take a look at some of the speed censors, 95, dropping down to 10 miles per hour, southbound, seeing delays, out of the northeast, down through to the vine. it is spotty. not seeing that full lent delay just yet. but it is there. fifty-five is your average on the blue route. watch out for this fire location, traveling ridge avenue at 29th street. ukee? >> vet tore crashes thank up. search for shane montgomery enters its third week. police divers have search the schuylkill river once again, west chester university student vanished, thanksgiving morning. >> shows montgomery walking
