two people down on their luck, and one of them, got into an argument with her over money which led to him allegedly, beating her to death. >> she didn't deserve to go, to her maker this way. >> reporter: friends and neighbors are heart broken after learning susan johnson who has not been seen in more than a week was discovered dead friday morning. >> she was a love liz lady. >> reporter: neighbors say several months ago johnson took in two workers homeless living in the truck. she reportedly kicked them out of her house in gloucester township once and was with to do it again this week johnson didn't show up for work which led to the missing person's report and then questioning the two people who were living with her. woman told police that the man miguel diaz beat johnson to death and let investigators know where to find her body. >> it appears that both our witness and mr. diaz had a fallen on hard times ape miss susan johnson out of the kindness of her heart took these two individuals in providing them with shelter

and when a dispute came up regarding money related matter, it led to a physical altercation which led to the death of miss johnson. >> reporter: police considered johnson a good samaritan who may have helped the wrong person . >> would i like to say thinks rare and i don't want to discourage people but you have to use caution as there are predators out there in the community that victimize everyone, every day. >> reporter: he will ab arraigned on machine but gloucester township police want everybody to know that one of the things that was really crawlings in this investigation was that a co-worker of susan johnson called reporter in missing whether he she didn't show up to work. that kind of vigilance is helpful when looking for a missing person. reporting live, i'm cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right, cleve thank very much. a man they say they caught violently attacking a woman in university city is linked to four other attacks in the area that suspect ace wait ago rain. details in this case, just continue? >> reporter: chris, yes, four cases down three thanks to surveillance video evidence and one case as you mentioned witnessedded by police and led to that man's arrest. there is word that dna could link him to the fifth case that happened on monday at forty-seventh and chestnut but still tonight with more of an arrest having been made there is calm in neighborhoods that were on alert. one less worry for students, neighbors at university city and west philadelphia. >> it is really scary to have people running around, assault would go man. >> i am fine. we're under stress to make sure you are safe as well, it is a big deal. >> reporter: a big deal and now a potential big capture, man police say is behind at least four violent attacks in the past several days, his name not being released. >> fifty-five years of age, he is just out there trolling looking for women walking by themselves. >> reporter: size and strength, physical tools

police say he used to over power his victims. thursday night two philadelphia police officers saw him in action, arresting him at forty-first and pine after watching him strike a u penn student with the bike lock in an effort to steel her purse. >> looking at how the lay of the land was there is no doubt he was targeting her to go in that vacant lot. >> reporter: that same day two drexel student were attacked and man was caught on camera. so was a man involved in the robbery at forty-first and sansom on saturday. that video helped police connect the dots thursday night. >> clearly it is him, by his unique clothing on, sneakers, jackets, pants that he was wearing last night. >> reporter: that man was due for an arraignment 59:00 o'clock this afternoon. we know dna could link him to a fifth case at forty-seventh and chestnut monday night that was a robbery and sex assault of the young woman in that area. this was a joint operation between cam puts police and drexel and e penn as well as philadelphia police and their special victims unit.

later in the broadcast. now back to you. >> see you then, thanks very much. tonight saying good bye to the fallen fire fighter joyce craig, family and friends are gathering for a viewing in west oak lane, "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is there with more on what is an emotional evening for many in this city, walt. >> reporter: very emotional. the the line stretches from the funeral home half block behind me into this cold dark night more fire fighters still a arriving. viewing now underway for the first female philadelphia fire fighter to died in the line of duty. in motorcycle honor guard escorted family of fallen fire fighter joyce craig to the viewing for the the first female in city history to die in the line of fire department duty. craig's 16 year-old son helped lead mourners, her one and a half year-old daughter, gently carried in the procession. >> when you lose one of your own, it is rough but most importantly it is for family

to show unity we have within the fire services. >> reporter: fire fighter gwenn sister a is one of the 100 traveling from the washington d.c. force. she will be joined by hundreds of others being here as far away a as canada to honor craig who died battling a basement fire in a west oak lane home, earlier tuesday morning. >> i cried, you don't want to lose anybody but when you lose somebody doing the job that you love so much, it is saddens you because it could have been me. >> i'm very upset and very sad we're just hurt about it. >> reporter: as you watch long line of fire fighter grow, still longer, throughout this viewing which won't end until nine tonight, there will be a final service, funeral here tomorrow morning. at that time casket carrying the fire fighter will slowly make its way up broad street here from a nearby firehouse, many others processing, right

"eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers explains new from glassboro, gloucester county. >> reporter: inside it is just a bathroom, stall, urinals, soap, sink paper towels but sign on the out identify that is a bit different. >> we pushed for this. we have petitions last few years trying to garner student support for gender neutral bathrooms. >> reporter: gender neutral bathrooms, bathrooms that any can use. there are two so far on the campus of rowan university, this one inside athletic building. it is as a result of months of conversation between student and their university. jena seeingal and katie whiting are part of the lgbt advocacy group at the school.

>> such a simple part of life but to have a comfortable space to go to the bathroom is important. the it is a small step program to do inclusion. >> reporter: others on campus don't zoo see that it way or singles out transgender people even more. >> you are going in the stall or doing whatever it is not like people see you anyway. just more reason to say that person is different. >> reporter: some think it is a good idea but wonder why there is such discussion around issue. >> first time i'm hearing it. i obviously don't care enough about it to look into it. >> reporter: school argues it is a wig deal, yes, it is just a bathroom but inclusion it the promotes is symbolic. >> the issue here is human dignity to all people, you know, at a state institution feel comfortable to be all that they can be in the the future. >> reporter: in the future advocates hepp to create a fully againer neutral housing policy as well but for now, they will start with a few bathrooms. matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness

news". well, volunteers get behind the wheel today to haul away hunger. >> today philabundance received more than 125,000 pounds of food, to help feed families in need this holiday season. this is all made possible by the toyota tundra food drive, tri state toyota dealers filled 75 toyota tundras to food donations for philabundance and they deliver them to citizens bank park. forklifts were used to transfer food to tractor trailer. >> hunger is a community wide issue and we need a community wide response in order to end it in our region. >> cbs-3 is proud to take part in the effort, donations were a 79 percent increase, over last year's event. we do appreciate that. students at john moffit elementary school were treated to holiday shopping spree in center city today. "eyewitness news" on chestnut street about 50 kids were given vouchers to pick out winter clothing items. this is all part of the
