about a week here with all of the clouds, we should finally brighten up. it will only last for so long. i'll tell when you the next round every rain showers is set to arrive coming up. jess? >> thanks, katie. good monday morning to everyone, we go outside, check out the ben franklin bridge. everything moving along great. so from the jersey side, westbound into the city, currently no problems, but few accidents out, there even though it is so early, i'll cover them, tell you all about where they are in a few minutes, good morning. >> jessica, thank you. breaking news in philadelphia's mayfair section to tell you about, armed man shot and killed by a police officer. >> want to get right out to "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo, at the scene with the latest details. jan, good morning. >> reporter: we just spoke with police, we have a lot of new additional information to share with you this morning. we are coming to you live from the 6700 block of frankford avenue, where you can see, police are still on scene, taking a look, and collecting all of the evidence here. we now know that the suspect is a 26 year old man from northeast philadelphia, with a criminal record, now, police are still investigating how

this shooting unfolded. but it started right before 3:00 this morning. they tell me that police officers, two uniform police officers, pulled that white car over for a traffic violation, then something happened where these officers had to open fire. we're told only one offers her to use his firearm, discharge his weapon, the suspect we're told was shot once and he remained here on scene with medics for awhile. just actually taken away to the medical examiners office. now, we're told that something happened to make the police officers to open fire. we're told by police that a weapon was seen inside the car, with us is expect, still unclear if the suspect was out of the car when he was shot. but police say there is no blood inside the car. there is blood on the sidewalk outside of the car. so, obviously they have to work out a lot of details here. but they do now say the suspect was a 26 year old man, from northeast philadelphia, the two officers that were involved, only one had to use his firearm, his partner

actually had to be transport today a local hospital, just for evaluation, police tell us he was shaken up. he needed just to go to the hospital as a precaution, not because he was actually injured. back out here live on scene, this is usually very busy area. we have a loft businesses here. we have some amounts nearby. a bank across the street. so, this is a very busy area. we are told that there are three, four witnesses to what happened. they're at homicide right now, as part of the investigation to be interviewed, and of course, the police officer involved in the shooting with internal affairs as well as part of this police involved shooting. but again, we now know that the suspect, 26 year old plan from northeast philadelphia, with criminal record, shot and killed here in the mayfair section of philadelphia, and, as we get more information of course we will bring it straight to you. for now live in mayfair, jan carabeo, "eyewitness news". >> we will get back to you, thank up. traffic and weather together and here's kate. >> i happy monday to you.

starting the work week off on very quiet note weather wise. we expect to have high pressure locked in place for yet another day. that should eventually mean we will finally see sunshine here, i know, it has been a long stretch, very cloudy days for the area, whether dealing with the renmant of nor'easter or whether just trying to get rid of it completely. but, that said, we're finally going to have a chance to brighten up we think here today. we start off by taking you out to storm scan3, tri-state sweep is being made. when we throw the satelite coverage on top, still finding some of the pesky cloud cover, just hasn't had a chance to let up. and more than anything, it is just because we don't have a very high sun angle this time of year. we had an inch version, where you had colder air at the surface, warmer air aloft, can create this very just stubborn cloud deck. that's where that came from. meanwhile, 43 degrees current temperature at the airport, at 32 mount pocono, seeing pretty modest breeze, but knocking temperatures back just a smidge when you are tacking about feels-like values. so it is feeling more for many of you like it is into the 30's, or 20's, as go into the

highest terrain, and down even toward the wildwood area it, actually does still feel like 43 degrees, this will likely ends up having very quiet day, though. expecting sunshine, finally here, in philadelphia, as temperature hits a very seasonable 46 degrees. just agree or two above the average for us, generally top off mid or low 40's around the rest of the region, too, jess, >> 5:04, good morning, guys. we go outside and check out the ben franklin bridge, see how that's doing, doing okay. so this is actually from the jersey side, so taillights are headed westbound into the city. you can see all lanes open, around currently no problems there. if you are trying to get to new jersey from philadelphia, no problems doing that, as well. now, over on the vine street expressway, near 95, you can see the east and westbound lanes moving great. now, few accidents to talk about. northeast extension northbound accident just near the lehigh valley involving a tractor-trailer. the rest of the majors still clear. ninety-five having no problems headed southbound from woodhaven road into the vine street expressway.

thirteen minute trip and 14 minute on the schuylkill headed eastbound from the blue route into the vine there, as well. now, germantown an accident in wayne ave. at sylvania street. back to you. >> thank you, jessica following breaking news out of australia this morning where gunman continues to hold hostages at a cafe in downtown cydney. at least five people have managed to escape during that stand-off. it is still unclear, though, how many hostages remain, and exactly what the gunman wants. however, he is speaking with police. cbs news correspondent don champion has more. >> police officers, in riot gear, position themselves outside the cafe chocolate, guns drawn, as armed suspect held hostages inside in sidney. hours into the incident, several hostages emerged from the building safely. authorities are now working to ensure other get out alive, too. really important i stretch that out. a, to resolve this peacefully.

>> witnesses say the whole thing started when the gunman walk into the cafe and showed his weapons, eight hours, into the siege, hostages called local media outlets relaying the gunman's demands. >> he's asked that the isis flag be brought immediately. the second, gunman directing to speak with tony abbott. >> as the siege unfolded the heart of cydney's financial district went into lockdown, buildings were evacuated, at one point some of the hostages were seen holding up a black flag with white arabic writing on it, touching off fears of terrorism. >> at this stage it is certainly something we couldn't rule out. we're not tagging it at this stage. >> the flag resembles one flown by militants, with the islamic state, australia has been backing the us in its effort against the group, in iraq and syria, prime minister tony abbott is urging citizens to remain calm, and not to jump to conclusions, as authorities work to determine a true motive. don champion, cbs-3, "eyewitness news".

happening today, president barack obama will make a visit to our area. the president will travel to joint base motorcycle gwen-dix lakehurst in new jersey this afternoon. there, he will express his gratitude to our service members, and their families. you can stay with "eyewitness news" for coverage of the president's visit. >> well, the eagles just couldn't pull off a repeat of that thanksgiving thrashing they gave the cowboys. their heart breaking lost gives dallas first place atop the nfc east. all night, ya, unstoppable, cowboys wide receiver bryant catch three touchdown passes by tony romo. by half time cowboys led 21 to ten. second half, things start today look up, darren sproles scored from the 1 yard line, giving the team their first lead of the game 24-21. but romo and the cowboys stormed back. they would not be denied. beating the eagles 38 to 27. >> you know, obviously you can't put yourself behind 21-nothing behind a good

football team and expect to come back. we got back up, give us credit forgetting nook it, but then the last drive he we-had them pinned down, long interferance call, and had our opportunities to win the game. and we're still down a score, we come back the other way, we have a big turn over, that really hurt us. >> now, although it was difficult to take, some eagles fans are taking the loss in stride. >> i expected the home fans to make the difference. but obviously they didn't. youyou know, des bryant and all. >> we had more opportunity, we didn't really take them, defense could have been a little bit better. but i guess it is what it is. >> i look at last year, and we won away last year, we lost at home last year. so i'm still confident we can win nfc east. because i'm a real eagles fan. >> i like, that real eagles fan. speaking of fans, new jersey governor chris christie ruffled a loft feathers last night by cheering on the cowboys. there he is sitting with

cowboys owner jerry jones in the box. the governor has long shown his support for the team over the years, as something that doesn't sit too well with people in the garden state who split their loyalties between the birds and the giants. >> i feel chris christie should leave football out of politics. i feel he has new jersey and he last new york giants and he also has philadelphia eagles fans in his constituents. i feel he shouldn't be in the box with jerry jones. >> now in recent sit down with nfl network, governor christie admitted being a cowboys fan since 1971 when he saw quarterback roger stauback play for the very first time. 5:09 right now. and the owners of the trump taj mahal in atlantic city and the employee union need to reach a deal today to keep that casino open. trump entertainment resort wants the union to drop it appeal after court ordered cost reduction package. ceo bob griffin says he thought the company and the union agreed a deal last week, but he says the union has not

>> auburn youth football player shot and killed early sunday morning at off campus apartment complex. there is a suspect in custody. mitchell girlfriends said he was arguing with someone. mikhail heart now behind bars, facing murder charges. embroiled in a sex assault scandal, bill cosby breaks his silence in a brief interview. the entertainer told a reporter for the new york post, he expect black media to maintain a neutral mind. cosby did not talk directly about allegations he had drugged and raped more than two dozen women.

rain showers. but not until tomorrow. so we've got the quiet start to the week, highs back mid 40's, pretty much where they should be this time of year. then comes the warmfront, cold front quickly on it heals. so the wet weather we see generally tomorrow from the warmfront, then by wednesday, the cold front crosses through with very little fanfare. still expect to go climb into right about 50 degrees, meanwhile, today, sun, clouds in the forecast, it is seats on recall day, all things considered, drop it down to 36 tonight, chilly granted but still smidge above averagement look forward to the forecast of tomorrow, specking you might need that umbrella tomorrow, specially for the second half of the day. wednesday looks pretty quiet overall. by thursday going to see another drop on the they are mom term, back into the low 40's, to wrap up the week. jess, over to you. >> thank you, katie. good morning shall everybody, 5:15, we go outside, see how things are doing. still is early, not whole lot of problems real toy talk about. but we will start off on the schuylkill expressway, the westbound lanes, headlights are, around south street here. the eastbound lanes, if you can even see one moving behind, moving along great,

>> well the eagles lose a game and lead in the nfc east toll dallas cowboys. dez bryant, caught career three touchdown pass frost tony rope owe. cowboys led 21 to ten at the break. birds did rally in the second half, behind quarterback mark sanchez, darren sproles, ran one in, from the 1 yard line, to give the eagles 24-21 lead. they've come back, but dallas came back even stronger. with two touchdowns in less than three minute, the cowboys beat the birds 38 to 27. leslie advance arsdale has reaction now from the lockerroom. >> the eagles were down right

hey, good morning, everybody, hammy monday to you. we'll kick start the work week on nice quiet note for you, no umbrellas ripped. you can see there is a little activity over my shoulder, that will be our next system that ushers in the next rounds every wet weather. we start things off in fact by taking this full screen on storm scan. we do have storm to track. but still obviously several state away t won't be until tomorrow, that we start to see this, coming in as a warmfront, and bringing with it not just milder air but certainly rain showersment as we take you out to the live neighborhood network for couple of different observations we're finding, low 40's, generally the story, seeing very modest breeze, but enough that you could see as many as say 5 degrees knocked off for a daytime or rather for a feels-like value. but we look forward to the forecast here today. and over the course of the next three days, nice little warming trend, it is a little warming trends, only couple of additional degrees, but tech neckly both tomorrow and wednesday, will be above average, and again, tomorrow's going to be the day that features some wet weather. so, in all things considered,

even if we have to deal with a storm, it is coming through with relatively little fanfare as far as we're concerned. jess, over to you. >> thank you, katie, good morning, everybody, only 5:25, relatively early start, things are pretty quiet out so far. we're going to start things off. show you how 95 is looking at the vine st. expressway. so the left-hand side there headed northbound, where the headlights are headed toward the vine street expressway. moving along great real any both directions. now, over on the 30 bypass, around 3:40, everything moving along great though so far. but still some construction in the eastbound lanes there, you can see, taking out that left hands shoulder, few problems in new jersey, west ends avenue at kings highway, downed pole out in new jersey on 676 northbound at mlk problem, currently no volume headed on through over on 202 northbound from route 30 into the schuylkill, 12 minutes there, the schuylkill expressway from the blue route into the vine eastbound, just about a 14 minute trip, so far. ukee, back over to you.
