events of the past 24 hours, also new details, in the search warrant which has just been unsealed by the courts. the bottom line from the press conference that just ended, just moments ago, bradley stone, committed suicide, he slashed himself on death in the field not far from where he lived. he had been a subject have of an intense manhunt in the past 24 hours this was the scene earlier in pennsburg as swat teams once again throughout the day as they had last night and yesterday, fanned out to look for stone, fearing perhaps he may have had additional targets, beyond the six people, that he killed, and the seventh that he left seriously wounded. and, motive, the attorneys say was no, sir clear, and he did not leave any bringings or diary are that would have indicated why. it is believed it was a custody dispute involving his children and d.a. talked about those details. >> the two individuals, nicole stone and brad stone, had ongoing custody disputes, involving the two children and

and,. >> and, it didn't take long before everybody was coming in here. >> reporter: brenda leonard lives a across the street from the scene. she tells "eyewitness news" she saw swat team members, rushed in the woods. >> a lot of people can kind of relax more knowing that we're not in danger anymore. >> reporter: as crews worked to remove stone's body the door on his pennsburg home gone after swat teams spent several hours on monday, looking for him. >> we were all shocked, all of the neighbors and we could not believe. >> reporter: randy lives next door to stone and said he knew the former marine. we were with him when he found out stone's body was recovered in the woods. >> relieved because i don't, i don't want to see anybody else get hurt or get in the gunfight with these guys or anything. >> reporter: coroner's van just arrived here a few moments ago. they are back there right now tending to the scene. we are told weapon that bradley stone killed himself with is also on the scene.

"eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson joins us live from souderton montgomery county, steve. >> reporter: jessica, in an hour from now the community here in souderton will come together for a candle light vigil, it is not far from here where police say that accused killer, bradley stone walked into a home and nearly murdered every family member inside. the the soul survivor, a 17 year-old boy, now clinging to life. today we spoke his friends, doing something simple and while others say they are doing something purely extraordinary. >> we love him, a lot. >> reporter: if there is any sense in a series of event that feel senseless, to so many, it is right here in this lake. >> anything that we can and will do, we will. >> reporter: seventeen year-old anthony flick is the soul survivor of the shooting spree that claim the lives of practically his entire family.

early monday morning, police say 35 year-old a accused killer bradley stone, entered the flick's home in souderton, murdering his mother patricia and his father, erin. family says he tried to stop stone from killing his sister nina but she was murdered too. flick is in very serious condition at the hospital. >> just diagnosis like why anyone would do this especially family, their own family. >> reporter: anthony's life long friend and middle school sweetheart sarah says she's in the surprised to hear about his tenacity. >> he is so lucky he survived. he had a angel on his back. >> reporter: sarah with the seven other teens and young adult you see in this room, started an on line funding page for anthony, hoping that the money will help when he come homes, in less than 48 hours, they have raised nearly $8,000. >> all we're trying to do is help in anyway we can. we are his family now. that is all he has lefties us.

well, right now at 5:30, we will continue to follow breaking news. >> manhunt is over for mass murder suspect bradley stone and we're learning new details in this investigation. >> news conference seen right here on cbs-3 a little bit earlier, authorities there say that stone was found dead of self-inflicted cutting wounds in a wooded area, not far from his home in pennsburg. stone was wanted for killing his ex-wife, nicole, and five of her family members on monday morning. authorities say that the former couple was involved in the ongoing child custody battle and stone that had recently lost a round in court. >> when it comes to why people do things we can speculate about things why. i can look at some court filings and say he was not getting his way and he was dissatisfied with that. but there is no excuse, there is no valid explanation, there is no justification of her snuffing out these six innocent lives.

very controlling person and he wanted to have the last say in everything, and, he was always taking her back to court which was a financial struggle for nicole, as well, and it was hard on the children. even when he was in the marines and he was away in iraq or afghanistan she was pregnant with the second child, he was in denial that the child was his. nickie had a any of us break down at that time. >> reporter: joyce says through it a all her friend pat was loving and strong. >> she was a great friend, warm and friendly very caring person. hard worker. and i'm devastated to have lost her and her family. >> reporter: joyce and pat work in the rehab unit at north penn hospital. she watched joann as a caring, attentive mother and courageous as she became a breast cancer survivor. well, joyce also told me that she's relieved tonight that stonies dead, however, she

"eyewitness news", reporter syma chowdhry has more. >> reporter: imagine getting a letter saying you are owed hundreds of dollars and when you cash in, you get cuffs instead. radnor township police organized this sting operation to catch 46 people without standing warrants. >> there is greed involved here this time of the year and it is what we are looking at with christmas coming about to try to get these warrants satisfied. >> reporter: police sent them fake letters saying they have unclaim money in their name.

>> they were getting a significant refund if they would come in the office. they had to bring in the letter with tell as well as two forms of identification, one obviously being their photo identification. >> reporter: police wore body cameras during the operation, they rented out a storefront and went through great lengths to cover their tracks. >> phones were registered so if somebody googled phone on line it came back to this fictitious bureau as well. >> reporter: within a week eight people showed up and they were taken in custody on the spot. they were wanted for outstanding fines, dui, theft, or theft or burglary. some didn't understand they were just tricked this were taken in custody. tell canned the question if they were still going to get a check could they use that towards their bail, in a very serious matter. >> reporter: radnor township police work with other police departments during this operation. this is first time that they orchestrated a sting operation like this and it won't be the last. >> we will do it again but we won't tell you when. >> reporter: out of eight people arrested five of them paid off fines that were due, two out on bail, facing

>> he died of self inflict cutting wound. >> search for mass murder suspect bradley stonies now over. he was fund dead this afternoon just a half mile from his home. his body was found in a wooded area off of fourth street near cool house road in pennsburg this afternoon, that is near his home on the fourth and dodds. stone was wanted for a killing spree, victim, six members of his own family. good evening, i'm jessica dean. i'm chris may. we have heard from investigators just a short time ago, they told us stone was found dead of self-inflicted cutting wounds. they say the former marine killed his ex-wife, nicole and five members of her family and three separate locations on monday. a teenager did survive that violent rampage but is in serious condition tonight. authorities say that the former come was involved in the child custody battle and that bradley, had lost a decision in court.

we have live team three coverage. we will begin with "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter live in eagleville, montgomery county where the word came today that stone was dead. walt. >> reporter: command center that had been so busy throughout the morning with police, fbi agents, here at the emergency operations center have now gone totally quiet. that is because bradley stonies dead, found not far from his home of a self-inflicted knife wounds and about 1:30 this afternoon, right now the investigation continues, into that death. more details about the carnage he inflicted being revealed in this search warrant which was unsealed, also revealed by the district attorney had a press conference here, late this afternoon. >> this is just a horrific tragedy that our community has had to endure and as we are's all standing here today, i think we're really nu mb by what we have had to go through the past few days. >> reporter: district attorney risa fan
