232 -- 32 degrees right now, winds are light, a good thing, over the palmyra cove nature park. i'm sure your eyes immediately drawn to that blob of white on storm scan3. i've checked all of the observations, nothing seems to be hitting the ground. i think this is probably evaporating on the way down, snow is up there in the way up in the atmosphere, but not making it to the grounds. we have clouds but starting to see few breaks in the clouds. notice through philadelphia points right around there, where it starts to not look as gray. that's where we're seeing couple of these breaks. 31 degrees in philadelphia, right now, 30 in wilmington, 30 in trenton, 31 allentown, 29 in millville. these temperatures have actually come up agree or two. 30 degrees now in mt. holly, 28 quakertown. we have a day that will be warmer than yesterday. yesterday we stopped at 35. today, by 3:00 p.m., we should be in the lower 40's, and with luck, i think that's what it takes, more than anything, meteorological, we will see some breaks in this sunday, so

that everybody gets to enjoy them. this computer model says we will. it has been wrong so much about that that i'm not putting a loft stock in it. what we do think is really going to be a problem, maybe your get away for christmas eve, because of some mild weather, but wet weather, as well. so we will talk all about that coming up, nicole? >> carol, thank you. >> breaking right now, fire crews are getting control of multiple alarm blaze that un goffed an apartment building, got to the scene about 2:30, harbor drive in claymont. believe it started on the thirds floor, quickly spread interest there. one person was taken to the hospital. there is no word on their condition. the red cross is also there helping dozens every displaced resident. new this morning, philadelphia police come un fire after responding to a shooting inside a local bar. it started as a domestic dispute at magee and public located off cottman avenue in the city's holmesburg neighborhood.

one man grazed by a bullet, but is expected to be okay. now, during that investigation, another gunman walk up and fired a single round in the direction of those officers. no one else was hurt. that man was taken into custody. the first gunman, though, remains on the loose. well, just a sad day for the new york city police department, which is mourning the loss of two officers. they were both ambushed, and killed by a gunman, who then killed himself. cbs news correspondent wendy gillette reports. >> reporter: hundreds of new york city police officers saluted an ambulance, caring one of their fallen brothers, as it left a brooklyn hospital. police say a man identified as 28 year oldies may he will brinsley walk up to this patrol car and shot two officers in the head, execution style, saturday afternoon. >> they were quite simply assassinated. targeted for their uniform. >> he shot and killed himself. police say brinsley was on the run after shooting and injuring his exgirlfriends in

baltimore saturday morning. they believe he posted to her instagram account just three hours before killing the officers. the caption reads: i'm putting wings on pigs today. they take one of ours, let's take two of theirs, shoot the police. rip eric began err. rip mike brown. >> this may be my final post. the shooting in brooklyn's bedford neighborhood happened in front after housing project, just two minutes after the nypd received a fax from baltimore police warning them that brinsley may be headed to new york. >> every new yorker should feel they, too, were attack, our entire city was attacked by this haneous individual. >> the officers were identified as 40 year old rafael ramos, who leaves behind wife and 13 year old son, and 32 year old wenjian liu, on special assignment helping to control crime in housing projects. in brooklyn new york, wendy gillette, cbs-3, "eyewitness

news". >> now, after the initial reports, the philadelphia police department issued a statement saying quote we continuously reiterate officer's safety any time an officer killed in the line of duty. this is a horrible act of terror and intentionally murdering a police officer is not the way to solve anything. >> weeks after the grand jury decisions in ferguson, and new york, we continue to see peaceful demonstrations here in our area. dozen gathered last night at the king of prussia mall inch rupp g shoppers during the busy holiday weekend. they marched to a sign and stage add die-in calling for an end to police brutality. (protesting). >> earlier in the day, dozens of people including some student also marched down city avenue, echoing their message of social justice. well, the exon at this gather to remember the victims of the killing spree in montgomery county. prayers were set for nicole stone and five members of her

family in harleysville. they were killed by nicole's ex-husband, bradley stone, at three locations in montgomery county on monday. stone was found dead in the woods near his home in pennsburg on tuesday. the cause of his death is still being second. >> meanwhile, philadelphia police say they are investigating the death after suspected home intrude nerve wissinoming. it happened on the 6100 block of vandike street yesterday morning. the homeowner says he and his nephew confronted the 23 year old man in the garage, and struggled with him. now, during that struggle, the suspect hit his head and died. the homeowner said the suspect was in the garage trying to steel tools. philadelphia police are asking for the public's help to ida man hospitalized after a choking incident. that man was admitted to temple university hospital, on december 12th. now, police say, he choke on some food, lost consciousness, and was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. he's not regained consciousness. neither the police nor hospital staff have been able to identify him. if you do recognize this man

consider, when your pet is having acupuncture? is every pet eligible for that? >> well, the veterinary acupuncture should know what the limit is on so many. older animal you wouldn't want to put too many acupuncture needles in, it could overwhelm their system, but your vet will know what to do. >> when do you draw the liner to hollis i can veterinary medicine, conventional, and start it it with puppies, if you haven't started with puppies, do you do it with the older? any guidelines? >> i like for everybody to get their puppy series at the beginning of their life. >> of shots? >> of shots. and their kittens series every shots. the studies are being done to see just how long these vaccines last, and then there is the blood tight that's can be done in dogs to see if they still have protection. >> or you can do i think a lot of people do a little conventional, a little hollis i can, you sort every blake a blends for your own pet. >> yes. >> fatty tumors.

, not filling the entire sky with brightness, but head out, there cuts town area, and notice, right there, unless, unless that's a beach ball, it looks like the sun trying to come up there, 29 degrees, cold. but our winds continue to be virtually non-existent, which is one of the good things. storm scan3, would like to see some breaks in this, seeing few breaks in there is thank goodness, because it has been so gloomy here. notice many other areas where it looks little gray out, that is where we are continuing to find the clouds. this has dis a periods, never made it to the grounds at all, snowing aloft, and then the air so dry it, evaporated on the way down, temperatures trying to get not freezing mark, not quite there yet. thirty-one in philadelphia, and in allentown, we have 30 degrees trenton, wilmington, wildwood, 24 in the poconos, but with no wind, how this is, is how this feels. so, we don't have that windchill to talk about today. temperatures today will be warmer than yesterday.

yesterday, 35 degrees. today, in the lower 40's, high pressure is here, monday, we like it so much, we do it exactly the same way, temperatures in the lower 40's, but the clouds will be increasing again on monday, assuming we find some sun breaks out there today. and then chances of couple of showers coming on monday. by tuesday, these temperatures come up. this red lion, this is the warmfront that starts to move into the area. even though it is december and winter will be here, temperatures will be climbing and getting into the 50's maybe past 660 degrees by the time we hit wednesday. christmas eve, but the rain comes in. computer models say that we do clear out, whether that's so or not, still remains to be seen, because it has been cloudy here for the entire month, i think. then tomorrow, if we see any breaks, we start to cloud up again, couple of shower chances late on monday, maybe even starting in some spots as early as the afternoon. but monday, generally, looks like it should be a much drier day. tuesday, couple of showers or scattered around, wednesday, that is the day that we start to pick up more in the way of

these showers. now, we will be warming up, though, by the time we get to christmas eve, notice, the green area here. and then we will cool down again by the end of the weekends, and the start of next week. but we do definitely warm up around here, which is nice, for those people who love the nice warm weather. if you are getting away today, tomorrow, fine, to do it. tuesday, couple of showers around, not big deal. but wednesday is the day with the rain and the winds, probably specially the second half of the day. forty-two for our temperature today. no winds. tonight, 28 degrees. that's cold, in the lower 20's, in other locations, bundle up, keep the pets as warm as you are. and, monday, looks okay, shower or two around, actuals, same deal, but warmer, 52, and wednesday 61 degrees, we have the showers out, there the winds, rather troublesome get away day, and then christmas day looks quieter, but windy, 48 degrees partly sunny skies are expected. you know, do you love watching the weather like dolores, and budd, and all of the others? well, you, too, can be

featured in our newscast by becoming a eyewitness weather watcher. sign up now cbsphilly.com/watchers. nicole? >> carol, thanks. 7:48. let's check on the roads and the highways. ann evans from the cbs-3 traffic center. hey, ann? >> nicole, looking at 202 northbound, road construction this morning, right lane closed as you can see the construction cones set up, and the construction vehicles there. and 202 northbound, right lane closed between route 30 and 29. and you have traffic squeezing by in that one lane already there are delays on 202 northbound. we move the traffic cam to the schuylkill, the conshohocken curve, schuylkill behaving itself today. no delays or problems. looks good through philadelphia and it suburbs, and right here the conshohocken curve, on to the walt, ben franklin bridge, mid-span, there you go. and both the ben franklin and the walt whitman are in good ship shape. further up, no delays, admiral wilson boulevard, 42 freeway looks good, now we do have accident hammonton on the atlantic city expressway westbound, between the $3 tolls and exit 28, the

hammonton exit. there are delays in that area, the garden state parkway, though, looks okay. and that's the latest from the cbs-3 traffic center. i'm ann evans, nicole, back to you. >> ann, thank you. an arizona homeowner catches a would-be burglar. she says she set up live video feed to keep an eye on her dogs while she is in the way. so she pulled up at work, saw intruder walking around her house. he even handed out a couple of treats to her dogs. she then called police. now, the intruder noticed the camera and turned it off. but, officers were already on the way. that man reportedly told police that he was trying to get a xbox video game system. >> still to come this morning on "eyewitness news", eagle fans will be pulling for the colts to crush the cowboys today. of course that's because the eagles came up short against the redskins last night. all the highlights are up next in sports. first though, here's a look at what's coming up tonight on cbs-3.

seven to four. they take on winnipeg next. >> the sixers start a seven game road trip in orlando, they are two and 23 on the season. college basketball, took on syracuse in the afternoon, at the wells fargo center, ten-seconds left. and wildcats down a bucket, the orange inbound the ball, the cats force a turn over, pinkston came up with the ball. and they sent this game to over time. and in the extra periods, it was all nova. pinkston, with the basket, he had 25 points, villanova remains unbeaten, holding off syracuse 82 to 77, was the final. >> i'm beasley reese, for eyewitness sports. all right, well, philadelphia student learn about the meaning of kwanzaa. charter school celebrated with display of arts and crafts, cultural performance at east germantown. the celebration focused on the seven guiding principals of kwanzaa.
