with days before christmas most homes will be deck out for the the holidays just in time for the family and friend to pay a visit. all those decorations, look great, they can pose some hazards. jim donovan has advice to keep you safe. >> reporter: most wonderful time of the year can also bring its share of hazards, during their two months surrounding the holiday season the consumer products safety commission estimates 13,000 americans head to emergency rooms for treatment have of injuries related to holiday decorations. cpsc warns that the two staples of the season, candles and christmas trees can pose fire risks. >> we never want to see unattended candles or candles too close to a tree or any decorations or, of course, a

and in the fire it spread very quickly. >> reporter: lar abates was at the apartments on butternut court as fire fighters for the the flames, offering her home as a place for neighbors to get out of the cold. >> it was just neighbors in need getting out here and hooking people up with their families. >> reporter: fire started here at 9:00 o'clock sunday night and as the sun rose the the destruction became apparent. twelve people displaced, three taken to the hospital with minor injuries. but earlier on sunday another fire in new castle county this one just miles away in claymont. >> we definitely are behind the eight ball before we got on the location. >> reporter: it was a mass fog fire that left one dead and nearly 40 people displaced and all just days before christmas. >> i am looking from here, my apartment was burning, everything is burning, my terrace, came down. it was really tough. >> reporter: investigators are still trying to determine the the cause of both of the fires. they estimate that the damage will exceed one million-dollar.

reporting from wilmington, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a delaware day care worker is facing charges. police say 40 year-old tanya robinson left two children in the suv while she went shopping in newark. while she was shopping that suv got repossessed and towed away. tow truck driver discovered the the two children, age one and five in the car in that tow yard. he said suv was full of stuff and could not see the children when he towed it away. robinson has been arraigned and is free, on bail. new developments in the sony hacking have the reports say north korea's internet service has gone dark and not working and the the causes unclear. as cbs news reporter craig boswell tells us, north cover reace threatening to strike back at the u.s. >> reporter: north cover reace issuing new threats against the u.s. saying our toughest counter action will be boldly taken against the white the house, the pentagon, and the whole u.s. main land. the the toe tall tear yan

christmas is coming early for thousands of local children to take workers with septa gathered and sorted toys
