>> stormstorm scan3 shows rain moving through the area, and a wet trip for santa claus. >> little santa claus poncho going. >> certainly did not need the heavy coat. >> good thing for rudolph last night. >> i know, all the fog. >> we send it right over to katie see if we're done with all this. >> always make me harken back to rudolph, then one foggy christmas eve. >> santa came through. >> yes, we'll sing during the commercial break. no one wants to hear that now. >> but yes, we do have still some wet weather to talk about this morning, and merry christmas, everybody. let's take you out there, we will show you one more time, storm scan3, still active. we continue to see our storm sort of just spiral away here with the coldest air well into canada, so, even though it is still a large storm, and it is still going to knock the temperatures back, we zoom it in one more time for you here, still wet weather to deal with. we are going to eventually see the wind kick in with it. in fact, it is already starting to. it is allowing our feels like values to get knock backhand

full of degrees. feels more like the 30's mount pocono, more like the four's in the lehigh valley out toward the reading area and more like the low 50's, still wet above average, for philadelphia, and the rest of our region, but, that said, what you see is very close to what you get, in fact, in philadelphia, we are at 53 degrees right now, and going to see these temperatures just gradually fall as time goes on. fifty-three, as well, in atlantic city, even in the last hour, seen pretty dramatic drop off on the thermometer, so as we are standing at 53 currently, that's about the you can hope for here. it will gradually just start to get cooler and cooler with time. at least it brightens up, gets brighter and brighter as the day goes on, too. 42 degrees out in the poconos, also going to be dry day for you there. but blustery conditions for your christmas holiday, beautiful weather coming up, then as high pressure set unless for few days for friday, saturday, but looking ahead to next week it, does start to turn colder. we will tell you exactly when the colder air is set later in the show. for now again it is a transition day for us, but

"eyewitness news" spoke with a woman who says she lives inside. >> that was just hanging inside, and i heard allowed

boom. that's it. and then i just look out the window, and we came down, i came down, and that's when we couldn't come back to the house. >> the american red cross helped 11 people finds a place to stay. >> police are searching for the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in northeast philadelphia. investigators say that theresa pozzi hit by a truck tuesday night as she tried to cross state road in holmesburg. her family has this message for the person who hit 393 year old and the people who helped her. >> these women were meant, who ever were there, to not leave her alone. thank you for the person who knew they clearly hit her. you are heartless. you are cruel. and god will make his way to you who ever you are. >> investigators are reviewing surveillance video for leads on the truck. police describe it as late 80s

inaugural pop pie bahama bowl in nassau. came back from 49 to 14 deficit to get within one touchdown, with one second left. a hail marry pass got tossed around until it ended up as a 80-yard touchdown, and all the sudden they were just one point away from a tie, unfortunately, central michigan went for the two-point conversion and the win, but they missed it. western kentucky hangs on to win 49 to 48. that's a tough loss for them. that's got to hurt. we'll be back.

too. 53 degrees the current temperature, way above the normal high for the standards this time of year, ten solid degrees above it, in fact right now, but winds is starting to crank. see it as high as 17 miles per hour, sustained, and there will be higher gusts, too. once the colds front itself actually crosses through. there we have it, storm scan3, still some rain to track, and it is starting to pull away, so it is just matter of time. but, talk about mild air. yesterday, at 8:30 at night, give or take few minutes, we hit 64 degrees, obviously, above average, when you look at the norms. but we are going to start to see these temperatures drop back at least a little bit through the course of the next few days, but not enough that we end up back to seasonable. we keep it above the norm for the next three days. so, today's our transition day. i would say the next three days, the worse forecast we have in store for you. we still have rain, we got winds throughout the day. but tomorrow, saturday, look awesome. low mid 50's, keeping the sunshine, limiting that winds potential, so really looks like very nice weather coming

a light rain, at this point, and we're going to eventually see that back, you see now moving into chester county, montgomery, bucks county, and it all slides east, and we start to brighten up. so the sun's not even up yet. once it does come up, we'll notice the winds more than anything cold air catches up to us, but the sin will shine, good news, as high pressure builds in, we have nice weather, for friday, for saturday, with that high in place, we will keep temperatures still above average. now, notice off to the west, by saturday, there is a frontal boundery on the move. our next system moves in, looking ahead specifically to sunday. >> immediate noticeable weather-related factor on christmas day, that combined with the warmth, in at 40 reese degrees at mount pocono, 53 at the airport, and that wind although it says it is calm in atlantic sitly gradually begin to pick up

birth of jesus. worshippers gather for churches across the region. jan carabeo joins us at the cathedral basilica in center city for the first of three masses first one starts in about an hour and a half at 8:00. jan, merry christmas. >> next christmas mass here at the basilica of saint peter and paul held at 8:00 this morning, then follow up with other services at 10:00 and 12:00. huge tradition for a loft catholics across the worlds is midnight mass. that certainly held true, here in center city overnight. you can see how packed the pews were for midnight mass here, many people we spoke with are looking forward to spending time with family this christmas, and family was main topic of archbishop charles chaput midnight mass. usually is on this holiday, but specially so this year, at as philadelphia peoples world meeting of families for september 2015, along with that of course comes historic visit by pope francis with papal mass on the parkway.

and if you are looking at your tv right now, you can just see the widespread destruction left behind. winds reached 105 miles an hour. the national weather service says that twitter -- twister was on the grounds for only couple every minutes, but left behind plenty of damage. one person suffered minor injuries. hate to see that specially around the holidays. now, katie, no weather like that around here. we do have rain though to talk about? >> certainly. that's yes ' been saying, the course of this storm has been rolling through, we real bring dealt somewhat after glancing blow when it comes to the whole grand scheme of the storm, it real had i a lot of severe weather potential with it, and it certainly delivered on that through the deep south in the last two days really, wasn't even just yesterday, the day before, that we had some severe weather as well meanwhile here is the storm, very large one, here at the core of it, but the extent down to the panhandle of florida will need few more hours before it completely clears. eventually it will do that and even right now, we can see the very back edge of it.

so it is starting to see the skies actually clear up little bit back through the mountains here in central pennsylvania, there are obviously still some rain showers to track at this point. but, if you pretty much have seen things wind down, just say you're done with it at this point. i would give you another maybe hour and a half before it is all completely out of here, meantime we look at the difference in the temperatures, very stark contrast from raleigh, back toward nashville, even atlanta here, where you can tell the front already crossed through, skies have cleared in the spots, but the blue contour do not lie. cold air has also gun to set until. meanwhile, future weather, i want to take you through, that really the next two hours, if, that before we're pretty much done with this storm, 8:00 a.m., maybe still showers across new jersey, 9:00 a.m., skies are clearing, may even have some sunshine by that point through berks, lancaster county, up through the lehigh vale. we keep the wind around, skies clearing nicely. i have to hands it to our eye weather watchers, full force, out delivering the updates, the observations for us, we

>> 6:53 on your christmas morning. >> so festive, we love it. merry christmas, everybody, good morning to you. still dealing with what's left now of our frontal boundery. it is still moving on through with additional showers, but, there is a very discontinuing back edge to this. it is in site right now, pretty much moving through philadelphia as we speak. so i give it another say hour or two, and then we will be in the clear across the entire delaware valley, whether you are spending your holiday morning at the shore, or maybe further inland here across the western suburbs, in places like reading where things have actually already start today quiet down in terms of wet weather. but the wind is out, there and it is out there for everybody to maybe not necessarily enjoy, but to certainly notice. and you'll have it pretty much just cranking out of the west all day here as high as 15 to 20 miles per hour, higher gusts as high as 40 miles per hour. temperature of 53, relative to
