4:50 am
>> merry christmas to us. >> speaking of gift, gift cards, i should say, there is one way to cash in on the cards, even if it is not from a store you would normally shop in, right? >> well, that's right. if you have a holiday gift card from a store that you don't like, wal-mart will take it. for the next few weeks, you can go on line, and exchange gift cards from more than 200 other retailers wal-mart will give you up to 97% of the cards value, but it does vare. so, for example, an amazon.com card will get you up to 95%. while other brands are worth only about 70%. erika, nicole? >> interesting. >> i wonder what's in it for wal-mart? >> i don't know thousand works. >> i've been sitting here trying to figure out the same thing, doing the math. i think they must think that people are going to spend more than the gift cards worth? >> typically do. >> attract zombies. >> makes sense. >> so it is a test, though, so if success full this year, they'll continue it, they
4:51 am
winds up losing tons of money i think in the middle of the year -- >> that would make sense. >> good business plan, all right, jill, thanks. >> coming up after the break whether and traffic on the
4:52 am
4:53 am
good morning, if you are traveling our majors i have a feeling i'm be saying it almost every single hit really no problems, no delays as of yet. still pretty early anyway, not even at 5:00 a.m. anyway. but traveling the tac-pal bridge allowing traffic to get by. it was up for an opening. they have finally put it back down. we are seeing now few more
4:54 am
vehicles passing through. we're not seeing too much after delay on 73, even with the opening, so all-in-all, you look beautifulment take a look at the schuylkill expressway, no delays, few vehicles out there again no problems. >> another bridge opening however, we do have at approximately 5:10, be minds full of that if that's where you're headed over the burlington bristol bridge. as i mention, speed censors high up in the 50's. we look like this not only in pa but jersey, moving through delaware, the entire 95 corridor, moving will, and maybe if you are moving through bucks county to mid-county, no problems. do have construction project 422 eastbound between stowe and route 100, there is one lane, this will be ongoing through early january into the new year, but it seems like we have a brand new day ahead of us, and lot every beautiful sunshine, katie. >> absolutely. you know what's interesting trying to think back the last time i saw storm scan look as it does this morning, and i can't actually remember. what i mean by that, when we go out there, there is a satellite layer over top of this. but you got to look really closely to tell that there is
4:55 am
even a loop playing right now. because it is so clear, there is nothing to indicate that there is an at moss mere moving along here over the last three hours. so with high pressure building in place it, means we are in for crystal clear day of bright sunshine, and really, pleasant conditions. now, yesterday, we did pretty well on the wind meter. 42-mile per hour gusts report in the atlantic city, 40-mile per hour gusts both report in the mount pocono, philadelphia, and the list goes on, where in allentown i was actually visiting family yesterday. i can tell you from experience it was very blustery, as women, as it was in wilmington, so everybody got in on that yesterday. but, now, it is pretty much winding down completely, and we're all going to once again get in on some nice weather. thirty-four the current temperature at the airport definitely colder by comparison. but it actually feels within 5 degrees, of where that temperature is actually reading this morning. and, through the rest of the day. so as we stay well above average the next few days, simply because the coldest air pent up in canada, we'll take it while we k next week colder air, winter chill does return.
4:56 am
nicole? >> katie, thanks. now a check on some of the stories our sister station news radio is following. two month after the death of philadelphia top advisor on lgbt issues the mayor appoint a successor. restaurant at four seasons hotel is getting ready to serve its final dinner. also website that challenges to you make a healthy wager and it is not an on line casino. check in two three, four times a day, "kyw news radio" on your a.m. dial. >> coming up in the next hour of "eyewitness news", more on the special delivery after septa train. >> plus, christmas decorations destroyed. that's not the only damage left behind after night of unrest. and it is the rush to return those maybe unwanted holiday gift. what you need to know before you hit the stores today. we won't tell. don't have to know. we'll be right back.
