♪ >> good evening everyone. i'm natasha brown. we start with breaking new at 11:00 o'clock tonight. indonesia's metro tv is reporting air asia plane with 162 on board is missing after take off from indonesia on the way to singapore. officials say ground control lost contact with this plane when it was believed to be over the java sea. the airline says search and

rescues operations are current underway. we're staying on top of lat test developments here. we'll bring you more information as we get details throughout the show. also at cbsphilly.com. also tonight -- (playing taps). mourning the loss of a hero. thousands converged a queens church to honor a new york city police officer raphael ramos. he along with his partner were killed in an ambush shooting. many police officers from all around the area lined the streets outside the church to pay their respects to their fallen brother. dignitaries including vice-president joe biden were also there for this very somber memorial. tony from our sister station wcbs in new york has more. >> reporter: the flag draped coffin of raphael ramos and just behind his widow marissa bearing that look of grace that comes to one had must be strong for other others. especially sons jadin and

justin justin wore his father's nypd coat to church. >> deepest sympathies. my heart goes out to her. her son. her whole family. >> nina ramirez joined her nypd husband and son in the massive crowd outside christ tabernacle church. ♪ >> reporter: cops from connecticut to california came to show support for a man described as devoted to faith family and the city he loved. >> a man who never had to raise his voice to gain the respect of the room because his character and his integrity out shined and shouted louder than any words could have ever been said. >> vice-president biden spoke representing a grave full nation and governor cuomo praised the grace of the grieving ramos familiarly. >> to the ramos family we thank you and we honor you. please join me in giving the ramos family around of applause.

department chaplain for the 84th precinct. >> people joined hands during the final prayer. more than a few tears flowed as helicopters blew in missing man formation. and then the relentless drum beat as a hero was carried to his final rest. in queens, new york, tony a i.e. llo cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> a number of philadelphia police officers were among those in new york today to pay their respects. afterwards they shared a few pictures from the funeral with us. you can see just how huge that turn out was in new york to honor officer ramos. a somber ceremony that served as a reminder to the sacrifices they make every single day. >> unfortunately, we do know what that feels like, because we've had our own tragedies here in physical. but we're going to keep hem in prayer. i mean that entire department, it's a large department but as well they're extended family and we're a part of that as far as

we're concern. >> they were also joined boy police departments all i was throughout region these pictures zen to us from officers in gloucester county. upper darby township, camden county and berkeley township just to name few. also today we continue to see mr. protests in the wake of the grand jury decisions in ferguson and new york. >> hands up, don't shoot! >> a peaceful demonstration held here in sent city philadelphia. it was organized by several local muslim groups to address what they call police brutality against the black community. a number of high-ranking officers were also there to keep the dialogue open. new information tonight and a hit-and-run crash in bristol township, bucks county. 93-year-old jenny russo died a short time after a pickup truck slammed no her home and then drove off. authorities now say results from her autopsy indicate she died of natural causes and there was no evidence of trauma caused by the crash.

the driver did eventually turn himself in. at this time no charges have been filed. turning to our weather tonight, a mild late december evening all around the region. we enjoyed a beautiful day but the clouds are moving in tonight tonight, and some wet weather parent until our future as well. meteorologist justin drabick is tracking showers in the forecast forecast. as we head into our sunday. hey, justin. >> that's right, natasha. not the best finish to the weekend but today how about it? sunshine temperatures near 60. felt more like early november, not late december. here we government clouds streaming into the region as we speak. there's some showers breaking out across western pennsylvania well extent well to the south and west cold over the midwest will be tracking eastward. as that front advances we'll start to see showers moving in our row john later on during sunday morning through the afternoon into the evening hours. not all day rain event not an all day wash out. have umbrellas handy if you're head outside temperatures not quiet as as they were last night at this time much we're in the 30s and 40s. lower 40s from philadelphia on

south. and east into new jersey. some of the suburbs little bit cooler quakertown spot 37 degrees. 44 in doylestown and 45 in northeast philadelphia. so here's what to expect tomorrow. clouds start the morning. showers move in for the afternoon highs near 50 for philadelphia and the shore. again that's above average. at the poconos showers cooler there in the mid 40s. we'll time out these showers. when do they come to an end and then we'll talk about colder temperatures in the seven day forecast. that's all coming up in a few minutes. stay one step ahead of the forecast by downloading the cbs philly weather app is free and available now in i tunes and google play. >> new tonight dozens of bikers hit the road to honor one of philadelphia's fallen who are rows. the warriors watch riders traveled through the city streets paying tribute to firefighter lieutenant joyce craig. lieutenant craig was killed while battling a fire in west oak lane earlier this month. tonight's ride took the group through all these neighborhoods around the city. the ones she helped to protect

during her 11 years of service to the city of philadelphia. now today mark one month meantime since the disappearance of shane montgomery and as his family continues to hold on to hope some of those marching in the new year's mummers parade will honor the missing college student in their own special way way. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has more. >> reporter: green is shane's favorite color and for his family the ribbons symbolized hope reminding people that shane is still out there. >> we just trying to get these ribbons to every club. i want to see a sea of green ribbons coming down broad street. >> reporter: it's a message the jesters of south philadelphia want to help spread. so they're asking all mummers to wear green ribbons in the new year's day parade. the response has so far been large. with many clubs signing on. >> i'm trying to help the montgomery family and everybody is behind me. to have, you know, a cub thousand people behind you is makes you feel good. >> reporter: shane disappeared early thanksgiving morning after leaving a manayunk bar. investigation into where he went

has lasted for week. his keys were found in the river nearby recently but shane remain missing. yesterdays like spreading the green ribs bon mean a lot to his family. >> i don't know any of these gentleman but i know right now they're my brothers. when they're walking up broad street there's not going to be a big jester fan than this guy standing right here. >> reporter: there's nothing new to report on the whereabouts of the missing 21-year-old as the police investigation continues. war in manayunk, matt rivers cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> police released the name of a motorcycle cliff killed a crash in king of prussia. chopper thee was over that scene last night at river road and mccoys lane. police say 50 year old eric keifer of conshohocken crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head on with a truck. he was killed instantly much the driver of the truck was flown to the hospital but is expected to return of recover. police say a man ride tried to rob a local sports bar armed with nothing more than a broom

handle. this happened last night at the chestnut sports bar in newark, delaware. a manager was cleaning up at the time when the man attacked her and demanded money from the register. she fought him off with the help of another customer. he ran away empty handed is still on the loose tonight. philadelphia police are searching for the suss specs in two separate grocery store robberies. the first happened tuesday at susan's grocery and south 13th street. police say two suspects demanded money from the clerk. one pulled a gun. they got away with about $500. on thursday, police responded to a robbery in progress at joe's food market at 1900 east passyunk avenue. the suspect in that case ran off without getting any money. if you can identify either of these suspects, please contact police right away. stay with us everyone. still ahead on "eyewitness news" tonight chaos erupts inside a pennsylvania mall on very busy shopping day. several fights break out forceing

>> several fights break out among hundreds of teenagers who pack pittsburgh area mall. police say large groups of teens started showing up about 5:00 p.m. on friday with crowds swelling to as many a thousand. at least two people were hospitalized with minor injuries. the chaos forced the monroeville mall to close early. >> all of a sudden there was all this commotion and there were -- you just heard like a stampede and a bunch of people screaming and yelling and them all of the people that work at the store came running to the front of the store and shut all the doors and locked you in. >> police say there was minor

damage done to the mall. they don't believe however it was an organized event or protest in any way. tense moments on the tarmac. a jet blue flight was delayed in long beach california for nearly two hours because of a bomb threat. police say someone tweeted the threat to the airline. just as the plane was arriving from seattle. officers searched the jet but didn't find anything suspicious. this incident does remain under investigation. north korea issued a statement today denouncing sony pictures release of the movie the interview. it include add racial slur about president obama. and also called him quote the chief culprit who forked sony to distribute the film. the statement also denounced the us for blaming north korea for a hacking attack on sony pictures earlier this month. it said the us should produce evidence of its claim. the white house has declined needment. meantime about 750,000 people stole digital copies of interview on christmas using file sharing software that according to the piracy torrent

or so but we are talking some wet weather returning to the region. just clouds streaming in as we speak right now but there's a cold front to the west just moved through chicago starting to see the showers breaking out over the ohio valley the the rape extends south through the gulf of mexico. most of the heavy rain stays to our south tomorrow but late morning through the afternoon and evening, we'll see some off and on showers. jet stream still to our north so we get that push of warmer air coming in from the south. but we'll start to see the change in the jet next week. it sags southward. we get that colder air from canada to spill in starting on tuesday. you're really going to feel the difference temperatures go below average finally oh and tuesday into the start of the new year. then the jet slowly tries to level off and maybe come back northward by the end of neck week as temperatures return above average. i'll show you that in the seven day forecast. through the overnight hours some clouds tomorrow morning mainly dry. a shower or two especially up in the mountains better chance for off and on showers during afternoon and evening hours. we dry it out for monday back to

sunshine. temperatures right where they should be. then we get that push of colder air moving in on tuesday. we'll keep it dry with just some clouds. how much rain we talking about? not a whole lot. maybe about a tenth of an inch for most spots. little bit higher amounts maybe pushing a quarter of an inch far south new jersey into central delaware as you get closer towards the central part of that storm. temperatures tomorrow, still warm for this time of year up around 50 degrees. even with the clouds and some showers. cooler for monday closer to average low to mid 40s for the high. we'll be talking about 30s for the high temperatures for the middle of next week. it is chilly overnight partly cloudy center city see as low of around 40 degrees. 30s in the suburbs. clouds continue for your sunday. a few off and on showers at times near 50 degrees for the high temperature. look ahead towards your new year's eve forecast. it's getting colder. the good news it's dry. midnight temperatures general the in the upper 20s dress warm if you're heading out to penn's landing are to the fireworks. should be nice conditions there. at least to view it with a
