to an emergency. and there are a number every unanswered questions all about this crash. we're live with new details about the moments leading up to this deadly accident. >> good morning everyone, also, don't get used to the warmer winter weather because the cold returns this week. definitely need that heavy jacket. we understanded. let's check in with traffic and weather together. here's kate. >> absolutely true ukee, but his is dose of reality for us. we have frankly been kind of spoiled with the warmth we've seen as of late. yes, that may be starting to go away for us, but i can at least promise you a pretty nice trade off. some much quieter weather for us as we look forward in the forecast. we'll have more details on that in a cup he of minutes. jess, over to you. >> good morning everybody. live tv, good morning 5:30, we go out check how how things are doing for both of the major roadways, been pretty early. we start things off on 95, at girard. everything moving great. you can see the southbound lanes, all of the southbound lanes doing okay.

girard, that's okay. headed toward the center city area, everything just looking fine. as we head out onto 42, the 42 freeway there everything looking great. northbound lanes headed towards the city. erika, back over to you. >> thank you jessica right now 5:31, an autopsy is scheduled for later today in the death after ten year old south jersey boy. >> he was hit and killed by a police cruiser last night while he controls dollars the street. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo at the scene in franklin township to tell you more about this investigation. jan? >> reporter: ukee, erika, a lot of questions still remain, as you mention, that autopsy on this turn year old victim will be conducted today and the investigation continues into exactly what happened here on sunday night. if you take a look at the video, you can see the accident scene as police work for hours last night to collect evidence. this deadly accident happened just after 7:00 p.m. here on delsea drive near paul street in franklin township. police say a ten year old boy

and two of his friends were heading to a slumber party at the time. one of his friends had made it across the street safely. but, as the ten year olds start today cross, police say he was struck by a franklin township police cruiser and died. police say the officer was responding to a call when the accident happened, and was the only officer in the cruiser that officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation, and no other children were hurt, but details are still limited. >> the gloucester county prosecutor's office currently conducting the investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier this evening at franklin township. the victim was a ten year olds boy, and the driver of the vehicle was a franklin township police officer. and the matter is currently under investigation, we are will release more details as we receive them, and we would like to offer our deepest condolances to the family of that child. >> and again no other children were hurt. franklin township meantime has released this statement that reads in part: first and for

most our thoughts and prayers go out to the mock clause ski family that tragically lost their son. while this is very difficult for the the young boy's family also very difficult for that police officer involved. it is our under standing that the officer was responding to an urgent call when this accident happened, and we support the officer who was involved in this. he is very shaken up. again, a full investigation is now underway. still many questions are around about if the officer's lights and siren were on, and also about that emergency call. he was responding to this investigation is being headed by the gloucester county prosecutor's offers. we're reporting live from franklin township, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". jan, thank you. developing right now, two oily slicks and floating objects responded this morning in the java sea during the search for air asia flight 8501. but officials say it is too early to know if either is connected to the missing plane. the flight vanished yesterday on its way from indonesia to sing a poor.

quiet all week long, makes my job a little easier, hopefully will make your week a little easier, too, jess, over to you. >> good morning, everybody just after 5:30, roadways relatively quiet so far. we check out how things are doing out on 95, right around girard. you can see starting not the route 42 freeway, this is 95 at girard, i promise southbound lanes there where the headlights are headed towards the center city area. everything moving great. northbound lanes moving fine there, as well. but, otherwise now we head on over into new jersey, 42 freeway here, so northbound lanes, still moving along great, so headed toward 295 the surround area bridges, you have no problem doing so so far. we do have some construction out on 422. and the east and westbound lanes, that is between stowe and route 100. that will be one lane in either direction until early january. out in west chester pike, car fire just popped up near five points road. use some caution when traveling on through that area. septa, dart, new jersey transit, all running on time, with no delays currently no delays at the philadelphia

afghan military. a bucks county girl who battled a rare disorder spawn change in pennsylvania has passed away. twenty-three month old hanna died yesterday morning. the bristol township toddler said from a rare degenerative order. friends and family joined hanna's parents last night for a candlelight vigil in her honor. >> nobody's that lucky to have that many people love them. she changed the world and we're so bless today have everybody here for us, it is something you can't go through alone. >> the more purposes we found for her life it gave her and us more reason why she was here, and why she was going to leave this earth earlier than we were. >> pennsylvania governor tom corbett signed a bill named in hand a's honor back in october raring hospitals to screen newborn's for crab a and five other diseases. >> our time coming up on 5:40. a lot of people say they can't

two police officers hurt by flying debris after garage fire in philadelphia's frankford section. both officers should be okay. also, gloucester county officials are investigating after a franklin township police cruiser struck and killed a ten year old boy. police say that officer was responding to an urgent call last night. the boy was walking to a friend's house for a sleep over when that cruiser hit him. and developing right now search teams looking for a missing air asia plane have seen two oil slicks, and object floating in the ocean. but too early right now to know whether they're from flight 8501, that vanished while flying from indonesia to singapore. on your health watch this morning, researchers finds using a smart phone is doing more than giving your thumbs a good work out. also changing your brain. that is according to scientists at the university of zurich. they found that smart phone users had more electrical activity in their brains when their thumbs and other fingertips were touched.

it certainly is in bath, pa. here 37 degrees, modest breeze for him as well, in nottingham. still finding clouds where he's located but that is going to gradually thing not just with time today but also with time through the course of the week. we check in on one more here, mark sent in in the last half hour 38 degrees, and necessary chattsword, new jersey where there is also quite a bit of cloud cover to report at this point. and here's y going next to storm scan3 what you fine here is a lot of moisture pent up across basically right over virginia and north carolina area of low pressure that's actually beginning to develop along the tail ends of the frontal boundery that just sips through our area here. so the whole thing will be drifting south with time. but coy still finds some spots maybe through kent, zest ex county, cape may county, atlantic picking up maybe residual shower as the day progress action. because high pressure will generally win this battle, actually going to clear out pretty nice lie here.

will be some clouds along the way, but the whole week right through friday, we don't expect any wet weather. say for what's left over here today, so as skies clear and the colder dome of high pressure nudges in, what that will do is knock our temperatures back. but it is a trade off. we'll take it. it could be a lot worse, not tracking any major storms. by sunday however chance for some showers. they would be rain showers at this point. jess over to you. >> thank you katie. unfortunately, not really cool to wear sweat pants out on now years eve. 5:45 going outside on the schuylkill expressway, around the conshohocken curve westbound everything looking great. no problems on the eastbound lanes, as well. but over on the ben franklin bridge, all lanes open, fortunately there is from the philly side so headed westbound into the city currently no problems, no problems headed on in to new jersey, from philadelphia, as well. now, out in west chester, the west chester pike near five points, car fire, use some caution when traveling on by.

gathering around the fireplace more often, but important to take precautions first. jim donovan looks at some things you night to know before you cozy up in front of yours. >> reporter: before you light any fires, be sure your fireplace is in good working order. >> if you live in a brand new house, and don't really use your fireplace you may not need a yearly inspection. but, if you live in a older home, they are very important. because you might finds that your foundation has settled which can pull the liner away, and it can start to separate. be sure it is in good condition each year. >> if a specialist inspect your chimney and uncovers a problem, don't just take their word. ask forever to i can proof. >> when talking with urine inspector, be sure that they're using the pictures in a way that you can actually see things that identify your house, in particular. unfortunately, the most common

>> grief at the site after tragedy, ten year olds boy struck and killed by a police cruiser, as he crossed the street. witnesses say that boy was walk to go a friend's house for a sleep-over. now the police office here struck that child he was also taken to the hospital after the crash. >> thank you for joining us, everyone, it happened last night along delsea drive that's where "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo is standing by with more on this investigation. jan, good morning. >> ukee, erika good morning a lot of questions remain, were the police officers areas lights and sirens on at the time of the accident? what was the emergency call he was headed to? meantime, a autopsy on the ten year old victim will be conducted today as this investigation continues. as word spread, that a ten year old child had been killed crossing the street here in franklin township, family and friends came to the scene looking for answers.
