. >> awaiting the arraignment of live from the special victims unit with the very latest. >> smoke and flames rip through west philly commercial building and firefighters say they had a harder time than normal putting out this fire. new cases of hepatitis emerge in a new jersey community, now prompting health officials to issue more warnings for people who may be at risk. all those stories and more coming up. we start with the forecast as we head into the weekend? katie, watching the first big storm of the year. >> yes there is storm does appear as though it will bring

at least chance for us to see some wintery precipitation. timing has sped up a little bit. because of that, we think that we do have at least a shot to end up here with maybe a little bit of light snow. now, accumulations, it will be tough to accumulate much of anything out there with this significance tell. simply because warm air is going to be surging in. that's why initially we thought this would be just strictly a rainstorm but may end up being cold enough that we end up with a little snow. we will talk about that possibility, who gets it, what what we are dealing with here. meanwhile again, spec to go see surge on the thermometer here. you can see what it will do to our temperature readings in the next couple of days, so again, whole lot more on this coming up in the next few guys, we send it back to you for now. >> see now little bit, in the news and developing right now man behind bars this morning awaiting arraignment for the rape of a woman in philadelphia's spring garden neighborhood. >> now the attack happened inside parking garage in broad daylight. morning. >> reporter: erika ukee, good morning, police sources tell "eyewitness news" they now have a 32 year old man from pit burying in custody for yesterday's sexual assault. but we're told he'll not be identified until he is formally arraigned. now, take a look at the video this alleged assault happened yesterday, new years morning in broad daylight, here this parking garage at 17th and callowhill street in spring garden for hours yesterday police combed the scene for clues, and reviewed surveillance video. police say a manna tack and sexually assault add 33 year old woman at 11:00 a.m. on the second floor of the four story garage, the victim suffered multiple injuries, and was taken to hahnemann hospital. now the garage primarily serves residents of the one franklin town ants, but also open to the public. police say the suspect somehow evaded security there a shock to those who regularly use the garage and say the garage is secure. >> i'm very surprised due to what happened, because i know that my building has 24 hour

62 miles per hour. if you are traveling lancaster avenue, however, we do have fire location between 40th and 41st. haverford avenue or 42nd street would be your best alternate at this time. and also, fire location at madison street right around frankford avenue. so traveling in this section not too far away from the northeast, best alternate is westmoreland street. no delays for mass transit. ukee? >> firefighters encounter difficult pisses in this business overnight. happened 2:00 a.m., 4,000 block of lancaster avenue. firefighters had very hard time getting to the flames quickly because the building was boarded up. no one was hurt, but we have just learned fire flared back up, so we have a crew headed back out to that scene. >> two new cases of help tight a have emerge in the hamilton township, new jersey. both patients ate at rosa's restaurant and catering on south broad street. a worker there was infected back in november. one of the newly diagnosed people works at the hair port

salon on south broad street. the other works as a part time fitness instructor at hamilton area ymca's jkr branch on white horse mercerville road. health officials say if you have been to any of those three businesses you should contact your doctor or the health department. help tight a is a contagious liver disease that in rare cases can cause death. >> the ten year old boy who was hit and killed by a franklin township police officer sunday night will be laid to rest today. matthew mccloskey was on his way to his friends' house when he was hit. last night friends and family gathered to support his grieving mother. they lit candles at the township sports complex in franklinville. >> he is funny. he is smart. he is always like ready to go places and stuff. >> we're coming together to, you know, to celebrate matthew's life. >> comforting my sister and comforting us, and just still

concerned, and making sure we have everything we need. and doing so much for us, it is unbelievable. >> police officers came to pay their respects as well. the officer who drove the crews is her on leave while authorities investigate. well, quick thinking by camden county police officers save a mother and two children from a burning home. on wednesday, a christmas tree caught fire on the 800 block of atlantic avenue in camden. neighbors flagged two officers on patrol. now, linking arms with other officers, they caught the mother her four year old son and seven year old daughter, all three jumped out the window. >> you know, inch sting just kicked in. you know, any incident you have in children, you just want to go in there and do whatever you can to help out. >> the mother and children are in critical condition. an officer treated for smoke inhalation is now out of the hospital. >> ♪ ♪ >> well, the mum verse put away their colorful outfits for another year.

laid to rest. >> ten bodies have been recovered so far. weather continues to hamper search teams with worse conditions forecast for the weekend. more ships and aircraft are joining the effort to find the downed plane's black box that could hold the clues about why it crashed. flight 8501 went down into the java sea sunday with 162 people on board. former new york governor mario cuomo has passed away. cuomo had recent already been hospitalized to treat a heart condition. but his son chris says the 82 year old died last night at home. cuomo served three terms as governor from 1982 to 1995. his other son andrew, is the current governor of new york. new jersey governor chris christie issued a statement reading in part: our country and our region lost a giant today with the passing of governor cuomo. he was a strong, eloquent lead here loved new york and it people. mary pat and i sent our deepest condolances to matilda, andrew governor cuomo

and the entire cuomo family. coming up on 4:43, wow, we have big storm coming up this weekend? >> it is a big storm but thankfully not a crippling storm. it will an affect a lot of people. everybody here certainly gets the impact out of it. this will be one that bridges in a serious surge on the thermometer. so we get little taste of may on one day in the forecast and then back to winter. >> did you say something like 06 the other day possibly? >> insane. we actually upped our daytime high for sunday. that will be the warm day but yes, there is a trade off. it will be a dreary day with rain pretty much any time. so lots to cover here. so we want to get right to it obviously, starting things off with how things look right now, nod bad, we take you out there knock more than handful of clouds. quiet day but see how the storm is shaping up. it start today form yesterday. already the moisture moving across the mississippi river. so starting to creep up on us, still essentially another 24 hour window plus before we start to really see any of the moisture making its way closer to us.

and, that said, because we are actually speeding up the timing on this, a little bit it isn't without question that let's draw a line basically from northern and western chester into montgomery and upper bucks counties and all ports northwest. could you see this start with some snow or sleet maybe rain that freezes on contact. but, the rain is going to take over, because this is a very warm air mass that is moving in strictly because it is cold enough when it gets here that it might start off with a little of snow. don't expect it to accumulate much if anything at all. meanwhile looking at the amounts of rain that we ends up here, basically two-day event. the whole weekend is going to feature some rain out there. we could be picking up over an inch in some locations as a result. but, for now, it is quiet. mostly sunny seasonable chill, high of 42, still breezy, but nice day overall partly cloudy and cold again tonight. all bets are off by tomorrow. check this out. 43 degrees for tomorrow. 20 degrees spike on sunday and then we drop, more than 20 degrees, in the matter of 24 hours so the front gets

>> sass all the in spring garden took place at parking garage at 17th and callowhill. suspect is expect the to be arraigned this morning. the victim, we're told, is in stable condition at hahnemann hospital. >> investigators are searching for the cause after fire on the 4,000 block of lancaster avenue in west philadelphia. firefighters are handling hot spots right now after that fire flared up once again. there were no injuries. >> and the two latest people diagnosed with contagious help tight a in hamilton township, mercer county, they ate at rosa's restaurant and catering last november. a kitchen work their was ill from the virus at the time. we should learn more from a health department press conference later this afternoon. >> your time now 4:49.

let's get a check on business news. >> mine watch's jill wagner joins us from the new york stock exchange jill, workers back at work. what are they watching today? >> well, good morning ukee, erika. it is the first trading day of 2015. the dow will be opening below the 18,000 mark, after falling earlier this week. still, the dow finished up more than 7% from the beginning of the year. the nasdaq was up over 13% for the year. for 2015, the big question will be whether the us economy and stock market can keep improving, even though the rest of the world especially europe, and russia, have a lot of uncertainties. so we will definitely be keeping an eye on that. ukee erika. >> hey jill, word is that egg sandwich or omlet could cost more in 2015. what's behind the rise in the egg prices in. >> yes, all thanks to new california law it requires farmers, house hens, and cages with enough space for them to move around and stretch. but, it is estimated that

friday morning, i would anticipate that we wouldn't have too much to worry about and it seems at least that's the case right now. if you are traveling on 95, here to look not too far away from cottman avenue, southbound commuting really well northbound just the same, not only here around the northeast section of philadelphia, also around center city, in bucks county, in delaware county, i mean, everywhere just wide open, it is clear take a look at the schuylkill, 76 westbound approaching the area of city avenue, it is a breeze, no delays as you continue your way throughout your western suburbs, maybe hey headed down toward the walt whitman bridge you're good. fifty-five, 50 miles an hour is your average not only in pa, it is in delaware, it is in new jersey, take a look, 61 traveling on 295 in the garden state. as we continue, we do have a fire location in west philadelphia on lancaster avenue between 40th and 41st. so traveling in this area, i would try to avoid t haverford avenue or 42nd street would be the best option at this time. also, another fire location,

not too far away from the northeast at madison street near frankford avenue. best alternate westmoreland street. no delays for mass transit. and it seems as though we still have fairly nice day on our hand today. would you say katy? >> absolutely, probably few more clouds than what we did see yesterday vittoria, but overall nice day another quiet, i kind of like to call it a vanilla forecast. it doesn't have anything that's really all that stand out with it, but it is still nice. storm scan3, looking good. you have got few more clouds granted, and we are expecting to stay dry with sunshine today. but, a weekend totally different story. this will mark the arrival of the first large storm of 2015. already here, now it is mainly a rain producer, but when we say brief mixing north and west, we are talking could you see some snow, some sleet maybe freezing rain at the onset of the storm because it looks like it may come in little soonerment temperatures by sunday are spiking into the 60s. so we get little dose of may but then we crash back into the 30's, in one fell swoop.
