6:16 am
cold, this morning is that when precipitation gets here it has a better chance of being something maybe a little bit more interesting then just rain. so we will continue to machine for that but this is the the temperature this morning, palmyra cove nature park. we have, a lot going on though this morning so expect to find with these cold temperatures and the precipitation moving in depending on where you are and how long you are able to hold on to these cold temperatures, your precipitation may be a little bit different than somebody else. thirty-two in philadelphia at the the a airport. twenty-seven in trenton. twenty-six in wilmington. twenty-four reading. 25 degrees in lancaster. 20 degrees up in the poconos. thirty-five the temperatures warming up through wildwood, 35 degrees, and dover, 36. that is why the rain will be rain in those locations. but we will head further north and this is where precipitation comes in at 18 in quakertown. twenty-five willow grove. twenty-six in pots tone. with this precipitation starts later this morning as these temperatures are still running cold we could be finding some
6:17 am
of the the snow, sleet and maybe even a pocket or two of freezing rain. that is something we will definitely have to be watching. right now just cloud coming in here first, in of this, i keep looking at ground observations is it hitting the ground. i'm starting to think up through here it is, so we will be watching for this progression of the increasingly wet air moving through lower and lower levels of the atmosphere before it finally hits the ground. the rain to the south where temperatures are warmer, you may be seeing a mix in some spots and well to the north you may start briefly as some snow that could be sleet and or freezing rain. so lots to go through. winter weather advisory noon to ten for poconos 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today. lehigh valley and points west. the this is for chance of getting a little bit of snow and sleet and maybe a little bit of freezing rain. not heavy amounts of the frozen types but it could be just enough to find a problem which you, of course don't
6:18 am
want to. computer models are saying cloud now, by 10:00 o'clock this morning we are starting to see rain coming to the south. we will start to see a mix, maybe even just to our northern and western suburbs and then by 1:00 o'clock this afternoon some warmer air will be trying to struggle to the north, but still through the the poconos and lehigh valley maybe a chance have of getting that mix. you can see the ribbon that is pink line where you will fine mix and transition zone some snow in the poconos probably an inch or less, that is it. rain through philadelphia area, and we will transition everybody of to rain. so by 7:00 o'clock tonight except for maybe a stubborn pocket of cold air through section or two of the poconos everybody goes over to rain this evening and we will stay rain as we go through tonight and as we go through overnight time periods with the yellow, those are pockets obvious heavier rain, a lull tomorrow morning, it will be fairly mild tomorrow morning, but there will be a lot different then this morning this is time to get out if you have
6:19 am
decorations or anything you want to do to prepare for a very cold week. i would suggest that tomorrow around noon is probably an ideal time to do it because temperatures will be warm. we may find a break in this. the the temperatures next week are going to be unbelievable and cold as cold as we have seen in a year, unfortunately. so know that another shot of some showers rain showers go through tomorrow evening and then the cold air starts to funnel in here and you'll i think be stunned at some of those temperatures we will find on the seven day forecast. if you are traveling today i80, the road that goes east and west to the north of pennsylvania sleet, freezing rain, and rain as you go through the day that transition to rain. i-95, you might briefly start with the mix on i-95 but then it changes over quickly to just rain. pennsylvania turnpike, you might also see that brief mix before changing over to rain as we move through the afternoon hours. so everybody does get over to rain poconos, lehigh valley and philadelphia a, we are
6:20 am
seeing most of the day in philadelphia is just that chilly rain but we don't want to completely rule out if you see a flake or two or here, a little bit of sleet that could not also be in the picture. generally rain flaw philadelphia, colder to the north and west where mix is, 42 degrees. this is a cold day, when, all that precipitation comes down. jackets on and pets in. tonight we will watch for 41 degrees rain continues but notice these temperatures don't drop but they are about to sky rocket. on sunday our highs will be 63 degrees. it is just unbelievable. we will get showers but we will get some brakes but another batch tomorrow night. notice sunday night's temperatures drops to 28 degrees. machine our high is only 38, sun and included, tuesday a clipper could bring us a brief snow shower in the afternoon. high temperature 32. look at wednesday high of only 29. wednesday night it is 10 degrees. we will start thursday feeling like minus five in the morning
6:21 am
