we have found and we have brought shane home. search ends. divers pull the body every missing college student shane montgomery from the schuylkill river. nearly 40 days after he disappeared. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us. shane's parents fought through tears as they red a statement announcing their son's bod had i been found. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live in manayunk, with the story.

matt? >> sheen do, many are you disappears 37 days ago on thanksgiving morning, a search that lasted over knife weeks ended earlier today around noontime, when his body was discovered in the river just down the embankment behind me. the announce many came under gray skies and cold rain, the weather be fitting after somber saturday. >> today we have done what we've promised. we've found and we've brought shane home. >> with that shane's parents kevin and karen montgomery, confirm their 21 year old son had been found. a volunteer diver found the young man's body in just 4 feet of water 10 feet from the river bank, not far down street, from where surveillance camera captured shane walking toward the river the last images of him alive. >> that's why we do this. find family's loved ones and bring them back to them. >> family members gathered

embracing one another in anguish and relief. their long painful wait for answers now over. a massive search for the college student covered every inch missing person's flyers were hung, green ribbons tide. days turned into weeks and when shane's keys were found in the river most were resolved for the worse. still, shane's family says, their strength came from the support of an entire community. >> we want to thank everyone for their support and prayers and love. ask them to continue to pray for the family during this frying time. >> prayers will be in abundance, as the thousands of people commenting on the help find shane montgomery. nearly all words of support love people lending their hearts to a family that is just beginning to grieve. >> at this time we ask you respect our privacy. we need time to mourn together as a family. >> funeral arrangements for shane are set to be finalized soon, as for police, they will

continue their investigation into figuring out exactly how shane died. we're live in manayunk, matt rivers cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> matt, thank you so much. >> the canal first dredged that sunday november 30th, the same day the fbi joined local officials in the investigation. on december 10th, we learned there was surveillance video of montgomery near the river. shane's keys were found by search teams in the water on december 21st. and divers continually returned to that area until they found his still submerged body today. we have been following this story from the very beginning learn more about the search for shane montgomery on our website cbsphilly.com. >> we continue to keep our eye on the storm this evening rain is soaking the entire region, and we're also seeing the temperatures rise. meteorologist, justin drabick tracking the storm plus big big warm up, justin.

>> it will feel more like april, but steady batch of rain moving back to the city as you can see radar indicating some brighter yellows, oranges showing up, that indicates a heavier rain moving through parts of chester county, montgomery, delaware county down to salem county, new jersey, all moves off to the north and east, eventually impacting trenton and areas of northern new jersey. we have break near baltimore and farther south, but still plenty of rain to go, as you go all the way down to the gulf of mexico. a loft moisture coming up along this cold front front still well to the west. once warmfront is through here, sitting in very warm air mass during the day sunday, but still off and on showers expected throughout the morning, into the afternoon. we had the cold air in place earlier today saw little snowfall specially poconos over an inch, mount pocono, martins creek northampton county coming in at .7, ewing new jersey pick up a .10

pa. we want to thank everyone who sends in eyewitness photos of the weather keep them coming. remember you can always share your storm pictures and videos with us, just use the hashtag cbs-3. >> developing now police say a limo driver, at the scene 5400 block of delancey street. police believe the 25 year old driver was shot during a robbery. authorities say there were three male passengers in the car, at the time of the shooting. no arrests have been made just yet camden county police, man shot himself at shooting his girlfriend. near baird boulevard and marlton pike at about 3:00 this morning. she was returned to cooper university hospital, by her father, in critical condition. her boyfriend reportedly followed them to the hospital. then shot and killed himself while he was park outside of the emergency room. a man barricades himself inside his levittown home,

with his 09 year old mother after police arrived to commit him to mental institution. laurence roost had allegedly threat toned shoot a neighbor and kill family member, once his mother died. police surrounded the home on ice pond road, negotiated when him for eight hours before finally jumping in, through a window to subdue him. bruce's mother who suffers from dementia is now hospitalized. officials are still investigating the cause after fire that damaged three row homes in southwest philly. two people jumped from second floor windows just to escape the flames. a third person is also hospitalized. their conditions are not being released just yet. the american red cross is now assisting eight families, a total of 28 people were ultimately displaced. >> and a wake, held today for the second new york city police officer killed in a ambush shooting. uniform police officers from all around the country lined up to remember officer wenjian liu. thousands attended including

new york city mayor bill de blasio and police commissioner bill bratton. officers saluted both of them. wenjian liu's partner rafael ramos laid to rest last week. it was during his funeral officers turned their back on the mayor. andrew cuomo said it is time for the city to heal. >> we have to stop any fights within the family and we have to come together as a family of new yorkers, stand strong, and that's the message for all new yorkers. >> state police commissioner promoted both fallen officers to the rang of detective first grade last week. >> now umbrellas in one hand, signs in another. families every all races march from calvary church to clark park in west philadelphia calling for the end to racial injustice. protests have been going on around the country in the wake every grand jury decision, not to file charges. >> stay with us, still ahead on "eyewitness news" tonight

travel conditions, in parts of our region, only saw light snow today meteorologist justin drabick tracking major warm up for sunday. his forecast is coming to you in just a few minute. >> also now, sonar equipment has detected four massive objects on the floor of the java sea, searches looking for airasia flight 8501, biggest measures 59 feet long, 18 feet wide. investigators think it is part of the plane's body, but the black boxes remain missing. so far only 30 of the 162 victims have been recovered airasia flight 8501 crashed last sunday, from indonesia to singapore. cause is still under investigation. although bad weather, may have played a role in this crash. sole survivor of plane car, walking more than a mile, with a broken bone through the dark, in the cold, for help. omar villafranca tells us

old marty reported engine trouble right before the plane crashed. just 4 miles from a small airport in lion county, kentucky. the crash killed gust letter, his wife kimberly, nine year old sister piper and 14 year old cousin sierra. sailor the lone survivor, suffered broken wrist and some cuts and scratches. >> i just pray for her she is going to need a lot of help, a lot of help. >> the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> the first african-american in us his to win popular election in the senate has died. edward brook elect in the 1966 and served two terms. he was a liberal republican and one of massachusetts' most popular political figures during his years in the senate. former aid says brook died of natural causes, he was 95 years old. storage wars for apple. two customers miami are suing

the tech giant claiming it falsely advertises its iphone six and six plus storage. they are seeking permission now to make it a class action lawsuit. they want more than $5 million in damages. they say the software takes up as much as 23% of the storage space on 16 giga bite phones. apple has not commented on the pending litigation. >> something you certainly don't see every day. a bobcat, stuck in the front grill after car after being struck by a vehicle. it is still unclear how the cat got wedged into the front compartment of that car. the driver says he was going about 45 miles an hour, when he hit the bobcat. arizona game and fishof i shall, they're working to free the cat they say amazingly he's not hurt. well, still going to need that umbrella for the second half of the weekends, tracking more rain in our forecast, but you're not going to need the winter coat. temperatures will be feeling

region right now and we are seeing steady rain move back into the region. check out storm scan3. you can see batch of some heavier rain pushing through the city as we speak right now. moving to the north and east, eventually through trenton new jersey, parts of south jersey, and we get a break down toward baltimore and washington, into southern virginia, then another round of rain is developing, over parts every eastern tennessee and kentucky. so that's going to move through our region, later on through the overnight hours into your sunday. so again off and on showers before tomorrow night. we finally see this clearing sky. visibilities down below mile in some spots, .3 atlantic city, .5 in wildwood, up 2 miles in philadelphia, .8 in reading. keep that in mind when traveling overnight. running into few areas of some dense fog across the region. 42 degrees at the airport in philadelphia. forty-six already in millville. 52 degrees, this hour, in wildwood. there is a warmfront to our south. it will move through tomorrow. bringing in the milder air. that warmfront already pushing through pittsburgh, check it

out, 58 degrees this hour. on the other side of the state, 46 in richmond, so the warmfront not quite through portions of virginia just yet. but will make it way northward tomorrow, that boost our temperatures up in the low to mid 60s tomorrow afternoon again, some off and on showers around, will not rain all day. cold front will move through tomorrow night then back to reality. thirty's return for highs on monday. near average for this time of year. wind will make it feel even colder. little fast moving clipper system runs through our region on tuesday bringing more clouds, maybe few snow showers, personally north of the city. that just reinforces the cold air. also the jet stream will be on the move, very active over the next few days, right now it is to our north, atlas to move in from the south. drops southward, coming in early next week, and there is the cold arctic air starting, tuesday, the core of it arrives on thursday. high temperatures here, good 15, 20 degrees below average. we'll show you that in the seven day forecast, so again over night into tomorrow morning, periods every rain,

look like the steadiest rain on sunday will be during the morning hours. more of showery type deal through the afternoon. by 9:00, 10:00. most of the rain off shore. then we get clearing skies. back to sunshine around for monday afternoon. clouds quickly move back in tuesday, here comes some of the snow showers in here late morning, into early afternoon. that's gone by tuesday evening. temperatures again tomorrow, look at this, 50's by the time you wake up, 60s in the afternoon. that's typical for the middle of april. the temperatures mid 60s. then monday here we go back to the low to mid 30's at best, that's not even factoring in the winds. it is chilly overnight periods every rain, temperatures slowly climbing up through the four's, tomorrow much warmer, periods of rain, 63 degrees for the afternoon high, southwest winds at ten to 15, here is the extended forecast, gets cold next week, 38 with sunshine monday, clouds and snow showers tuesday, with a high of 34, overnight lows drop to the 20's it, gets cold wednesday, thursday, highs on wednesday near 30, highs on thursday mid 20's.
