morning. it is not real a lot of snow, katie saying maybe inch or two, but could make for messy morning commute. >> let's start with our live team coverage of the weather because it will be coming in, i guess somewhere between what about 8:00 and 12:00 we should have the brunt of it? >> katie describes it as more of a clipper so it is fast moving it, will get in here and get out of here, which is nice for at least your evening commute, you'll be all wrapped up. >> middle a bertha clipper. >> ms. alberta, okay. >> good morning guys. yes, so we are looking ahead to day that's certainly going to be featuring some snowy weather out there, already the leading edge of the snow is headed our way. and as we start things off we take you right outside. head out to storm scan3 currently tracking the clipper system, it is already brinking in some light snow across south and western portions of pennsylvania, for you here. let's zoom it in a little bit for you. seeing some cloud cover but also again that snow, the leading edge of it, beginning to move in right now generally right up and down the i95 corridor. now, as we look around the

region here, as far as the snow that we've seen so far well, you know we haven't really seen heck of a lot. that's definitely going to make this particular system even though it is not the biggest system we've ever seen seem a little bit more important, i guess you could say, but so far this season only had a .10 of an inch on the grounds, average through today, would have been just shy of 5 inches. meanwhile, last season, we already at this point of the year, already at this point of the year, last season, had over 20 inches every snow we had seen through the area. winter weather alert remember, clipper system, so it moves very, very swiftly. still actually have warnings and advisories back over the northern rockies but one little piece of, that the clipper, sipped across the us. here's where we still have winter weather advisories, now included, at least the southern half of our area is included so, it is certainly cold start to the morning for you out there and again with winter weather advisories now taking effect, you definitely need to just slow down as soon as this snow begins to creep in on us. again, looking at that to take place over the course of the next say 90 minutes or so,

give or take, depending where you live. meanwhile, here's how it feels, more like it is below zero already up at mount pocono, 14 degrees the current feels like value at philadelphia. and as we take you around the region as a whole today in philly, down the shore, in the poconos, it is absolutely cold enough for everybody to get in on that snow, although, it is very light. it is going to be a light fluffy variety of snow. and we expect to see general one to 2 inches out of it, before it sips away, in toward the evening time frame. jess, over to you. >> thank you and yet today one of the perfect example how traffic and weather together can really just go together. actually going to go outside and show you some video taken earlier of road crews how they've been prepared. they've been out in new jersey here on the a.c. expressway. you can see where they've had trucks on the road, brine the road so we know we can have a nice safe commute as the snow gets underway in the next hour, hour and half or so. actually if we can get on over to the maps now so we can see

how the roadways are doing actually at this exact moment. this is the vine street expressway, everything moving great. you can see roadways dry no snow starting to accumulate there as of yet. this is around 24th street. the westbound lanes looking great. eastbound looking great there as well. currently no problems out on 95 around cottman avenue. we also lose that right-hand lane, due to ongoing construction, but that's something we should be used to not setting anybody back too much. southbound toward the center city area moving great so far. now, out in lawrence township, we have an accident closing route 206 at cold soil road. your alternate to get around that accident scene for the time being just want to take water main break here on west conshohocken madsonford road, take balligomingo road to get by there as well. >> thank you like katie has been saying this morning we're getting our first chance at some real snow, not enough to break out the heavy duty shovels, but this could make your drive to work and drive to school little more messy. team three coverage continues right now with "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch at the 69th street terminal.

justin good morning. >> reporter: good morning, erika and yes the snow is not here yet. we have about what three hours before the snow actually falls, but here at the terminal salt something already gun here, just freshly dropped, moments ago here, and when you're out on the roads, too, you will also notice the salt something already well underway. >> this morning if you're driving, there is a good chance penndot is keeping a close eye on your commute. traffic cameras, aimed on state road, so penndot knows where to focus its effort. >> we're ready set go. we've been red. >> i district executive lester says more than 200 trucks will be out clearing streets well into the afternoon. >> we are motorists -- we urge motorists to be careful driver at reduced speed to also allow additional time, to get to their destinations, and maintain at least twice the normal following distance between themselves and a vehicle in front of them. >> in preparation crews began salt brine state road at midnight ahead of the below freezing temperatures, that

itunes, and google play. >> some breaking news right now from south philly where a fire has damaged two story row home. firefighters got the call around 2:45 this morning to a fire on 29200 block of south lambert street. one person is awaiting transport to the hospital. firefighters got the flames under control in about a half hour. noise in the backyard woke one of the neighbors. >> i just woke up, looked out window seen all of these flames. that's all like a fire, just came out the house. >> live look now at the house from mobile three. the fire department had to call in salt trucks, after the area iced over. investigators are trying to pinpoint what sparked that blaze, the red cross is helping a family of four right now. >> also, breaking this morning, philadelphia police are investigating a deadly shooting in west oaklane. it happened on the 6500 block of north 20th street around 11:30 last night. investigators are checking surveillance videos in the area for leads on two mask

men, seen running from the scene. there is no word right now on motive for the shooting. >> this south jersey grandmother, she is waking up in jail this morning after police say she kidnapped her grandchildren. forty-two year old cinnamin kelsey accused of taking off with the kids yesterday after a judge denied her custody of the one and two year olds. middle township police issued a warrant for her arrest and she was pick up in prospect park delaware county overnight. >> and developing right now the hunt for a pair of suspect who shot two new york city police officers last night both officers are expected to be okay. authorities say it happened when the officers responded to a robbery call in the bronx. the special detail officers just got off duty when the call came in, and responded anyway. when they spotted the suspects, one opened fire. mayor bill de blasio says the officers went above and beyond the call of duty. >> these officers had come off their shift upon hearing this

call, went back out in search of these criminals. >> now the authority believe one of the suspects may have been shot, investigators continue to look for clues in this case, both officers are recovering in the hospital and they're in stable condition. happening today, the fraud trial of don tollefson is set to begin in a bucks county courtroom once two alternate jurors are chose egg. yesterday he rejected a deal that included two-20 year sentence with treatment program that would have reduced his jail time. tollefson is accused of stealing $340,000 intended for sports trips benefitting charities. tollefson tells us he does not regret his decision to withdraw his guilty plea last month. >> there is no bad guys in this case. >> the story how he reached for the stars and fell to the earth. >> i just look forward to the opportunity as mr. goldman said to tell my side of the

story. >> tollefson, recovering drug and alcohol addict, spent most of last year under house arrest, in treatment programs in north philadelphia. congress goes back to work today with republicans in charge. the first day includes swearing in of new members and installation every leaders and committee chairs. house speaker john boehner will try to hole onto his job conservative congressman louie gem err and ted yoho will challenge him. mitch mcconnell is expected to be elected senate majority leader. right now it is 5:09. more legal trouble this morning for bill cosby. the latest women taking cosby to court. >> also, homes washed away by a landslide. see the moment the ground gave way. and the damage left behind. >> also, is governor christie the cowboys good luck charm? he talks about that controversial awkward hug that got him blasted on twitter and the karma he's bringing to the cowboys. >> and, watching storm system coming through snow's headed our way this morning we'll check traffic and weather together. we do it on the 3's when we

♪ ...is folgers in your cup ♪ good morning, roads are dry right now, but that will change probably other next few hours, tan could make the morning commute little tricky. we'll get the updated forecast when we do traffic and weather together. that's coming up in just a minute. erika? >> ukee, the west coast also dealing with some wild weather, check it outright here. hundreds of people in washington state and this neighborhood, they're being told to leave these homes after a landslide damages several houses.

>> several homes outside seattle crumble under the weight of the dirt. it is not just the landslides causing problems other homes are also underwater, after 7 inches of rain fell in just 24 hours. forecasters say the threat of landslides will last for a few more days. yikes. >> all right, right now 5:13. we want our traffic and weather together. katie track that snow headed our way, katie good morning. >> yes good morning and the leading edge of the snow already actually visible at least very close to our local viewing area. and when you look at the radar, a lot of times with this kind of set up, when you have got enough cold air aloft, moisture to work with, it doesn't actually mean it is actually falling to the ground, as snow. so while it looks like almost half of the region is engulfed in snow right now it, doesn't necessarily mean that it is actually hitting the grounds in most of these spots. but it, will. just give it time. generally between six to 8:00 a.m. when we start to see that snow officially falling and it will stick right away. no melting at the onset. simply too cold for. that will we zoom way out.

wimpy little guy. just lip clipper. not a huge system by any means. it is really even though just clipper the first sort of significant snow that we've really seen over philadelphia because we are expecting to end up with an inch or two. so here's our exclusive eyewitness snowfall map. mainly happening through midday, we are expecting a general one to 2 inches, that's across the board. everybody gets in on that one to two-inch amount range. so you're not going to see too much after gradient set up here. it is pretty much a generic you know snow accumulation across the board here. here's how it feels, one more time for you. more like the teens in almost every location, coldest spot absolutely in the mountains but could be worse take a look at how cold it feels right now in milwaukee in sue saint marie out toward the hud somebody bay, below zero actually a lot worse yesterday if you recall, but still real brutal. we will be getting in on at least little taste of some that far chill down the road here, so light snow today 29 degrees, we take you down to 21 tonight un partly cloudy

sky, we look forward in the forecast here, notice where we bottom out. thursday absolutely the coldest day despite it being the brightest day of the next few. but you got to factor in the wind. so you can't take these temperatures right through friday at face value. it is always going to feel colder, with the winds. jess, over to you. >> thank you katie. good morning everybody 5:15, we go out check out how things are doing on the schuylkill. currently, dry no snow, as you can see right here, these are the westbound lanes headed towards the king of prussia area. no real volume starting to pack in there but everything moving along just fine, now over on the ben franklin bridge, from the philly side, all lanes are completely open, so headed westbound into the city currently no problems there as well. now, out in northeast philadelphia we do have set of traffic lights out in malfunctioning thereby berry road at evan street. use some caution when traveling on through. we do have road closure due to an accident. route 206 is closed at colds soil road. your alternate take princeton pike for the time being. water main brock out in west conshohocken, close the at de

haven road. take balligomingo road to get on by. back to you. >> all eyes on this clipper today, so be careful of some light snow impacting your morning commute. penndot crews are ready with the salt. this is the south philly yard at front and oregon. we expect roughly 1 inch to 2 inches of snow in some areas. and our breaking news this morning, four people are in the care of the red cross after a fire in south philly. firefighters battled freezing temperatures and those flames on south lambert street. the fire marshall is on the scene, looking for a cause. also breaking police searching for two suspects in a deadly shooting in west oaklane. investigators say it happened around 11:30 near 66 avenue and north 18th street. they're checking nearby security cameras for additional clues. some wild video this morning in floored whether gas tanker erupts in flames. the fully loaded tanker exploded after crashing into an utility truck at an intersection in st. petersberg overnight. you can see the intense flames lighting up the night sky. driver of the tanker was flown

to the hospital with serious burns. and, investigators in san francisco are looking into a sus push fire at the famous mrs. doubt firehouse. you can see some burn marks on the house that was used in the robin williams film comedy. the man who owns the house told police he's having problems with a former client but he's not sure who set the fire. 5:17 right now. x marks the spot, very tricky mission this morning after a rocket blasts off for the international space station. and it is the latest viral sensation on facebook, the puppy love being shared by hundreds of thousands of people that is inspiring a stranger. we'll be right back.

snow but enough to make the morning commute a little tricky. we'll check in with katie and jessica when we do traffic and weather togher. coming up in just a little bit. erika? >> ukee, two more women have joined a defemation lawsuit against bill cosby. in a federal complaint theresa and linda they say that cosby publicly branded them as liars through statements by his representatives. the women have separately accused cosby of acting ann prepare re atly with them in the 19 70s. they're joined the defemation suit filed last month by another cosby accuser tamara green. well, new jersey governor chris christie is not letting a little heat from angry football fans bother him after his very public celebration of the dallas cowboys playoff win. governor christie watched sunday's game with the cowboys owner jerry jones and was mocked for an awkward hug as the game ended. young sent private jet to bring the governor and his family to the game. the governor's office says no taxpayer money was used. the governor defended the

good morning, everybody, everybody gets in on it today. that's for sure. it is not going to be a situation where you have any casino of mixing. it is all snow for everybody as evident right now here on storm scan3. not major storm by any stretch. but, it is starting to move in as we speak. and, we will start to see some of the flakes flying relatively soon here. 22 degrees the current temperature, meanwhile at the airport as well as atlantic city a lot colder up at mount pocono, only at nine this morning, expect when the snow actually starts that it will begin to stick immediately because the grounds is now cold enough, we will start to see the snow taper toward midday, and it is going to stay cold, but expect nothing more than a general one to 2 inches out of this. i would say probably the biggest impact this has is on your travel. it could absolutely be slick out there. specially at the onset. meanwhile, tuesday wednesday thursday, they're all cold. every single one of the days, no bert than the mid, well really low to upper 20's, but the thing is, you can't even

go by these numbers, do you have factor in the wind, each and every day, which is easily going to knock good 10 degrees plus off for feels like values. so bottom line here, just week to bundle up. >> i know, i have to invest in bigger scarf like one of the once that wrap around your whole face going out the door. we go outside show you roadways relatively dry. no snow starting to hit ignition out in new jersey on the 42 freeway, you can see the northbound lanes where the headlights are still moving nice and smoothly. headed toward 295 or possibly surround hearing bridges, in philadelphia, we do have disable vehicle over here in southbound lanes obviously no real volume accumulating in that direction. so, not setting anybody back too much. but just something to be cautious of when traveling through. over on 95, around street road, everything looking great in the north and southbound lanes there. and currently dry there as well. over on the schuylkill, no problems really headed westbound from the vine street expressway, into the blue route. about 15 minute there. no problems on 422 if you're headed westbound from 202 into oaks ukee, back over to you.

thank you, jessica, in sports, big moment for the sixers they are the last team in the nba to win home game this season. it last night came against short landed cavaliers team at the well in south phillyment even without labron, uncle drew, the cavs kevin love scored 28, as cleveland built early lead. but the sixers kept working hard at both end of the floor and it paid off. tony love the way he goes through the square, puts the sixers up with nine seconds left, and they won their first at home this year, the final was 95 to 92. together we build. nice job fellows. hey sixers first rounds pick, poking fun at the side line labron james. and tweeted after the sixers win, i toll him to sign with us back in the summer. and he didn't. smh. which of course stands for shaking my head. the big fellow. flakes take on the senators at the well, will be without captain claude giroux. the captain was injured friday against carolina, no timetable thus far for his return.

here comes the snow, the first significant snowfall of the season and it will make your morning commute pretty rough. compared to last year, much better. >> way back machine. >> this time last year we

already had more than 20 inches every snow. it was very coal. normal average through today is four and a half inches. so far this season, we've only seen a .10 of an inch of snow. we have live team coverage for you of this morning's snowstorm. we check in with justin fin energy one moment. first, we get right to meteorologist, katie fehlinger. >> one to 2 inches, that's real at this, it looks like it will be everybody gets in on the exact same amount of snowfall totals. so far we have to define the gradient, who will get more, who will get less, but this time everybody gets this same thing, just glancing blow from what's frankly a pretty weak, quick moving system, just clipper system, classic where so swift to move through it doesn't pacca ton every moisture but does certainly have enough cold to reinforce what's already out there in the term of the chill already, you can see how storm scan starting to just sort of, you know, pack up here with a little bit of snow. now, most of this is still upper level moisture, we are are still awaiting the brunt of the system to come through
