5:44 am
enough, that it is going to see snow come in. just clouds he's been reporting within the last hour. we take you little further south here to 23 degrees there is one sent in from jason middletown delaware, where he is situated. he's generally just got some clouds. and he's got good advice for us all careful on roadways, especially as soon as that snow starts to pick up. kent county, extreme far southwest, lancaster county being some of the snow beginning to verify. take you further off to the northwest, 28 degrees sent in from ed connor, sent it in the last minute in cross wicks new jersey, still just clouds to report there. that's generally what we're finding despite storm scan3 what the radar is telling you as i mention seeing reports of flakes at least actually showing up out there. and it is beginning to even stick out across portions of lancaster county, but you know, not all of this is actually verifying at the ground level just yet. and keep in mind, again guys, not major storm for us.
5:45 am
absolutely not. this is just a clipper system. we zoom it out for you here. you can see relatively small system. it was all the way out over montana. this same time yesterday. so it has made a very fast cross-country commute here. it will be basically out of here toward the time we're hitting the evening rush. so here's a good sense of the timing for you. within even though already starting to see some flakes, within the next two hours we're starting to see the snow arrive from generally west to east southwest to northeast. eight to 11:00 a.m. it is the steadiest of the snow that we'll find, that's when we get the best accumulation, it is mid-morning, thankfully by that point, a lot of people have already hit the office and they're off the roads. but could certainly still be slick. your eyewitness weather seven day forecast meanwhile look at the cold that gets ryan forced. we have a really hard time even getting into the 20's here, come thursday, but it is absolutely going to feel colder than that. meanwhile, separate disturbance passes us by to friday, and that's going to potentially bring in flurry. but also reinforces the chill
5:46 am
again for the upcoming weekend. so if there were ever a week to bundle up, this is it. meanwhile we want a check on the snow right now justin drabick out live with the cbs-3 mobile weather lab right now he's on i495 near the delaware-pa state line. justin, any flakes yet? >> reporter: we're between claymont delaware and wilmington headed south on 495, basically all we got right now is some increased traffic. temperature is cold, though, 23 degrees. once the snow does reach the ground it will certainly stick. now, you can look at the street. you see the street, the brine solution, actually put this down yesterday so certainly that's good news there. but i look at the radar again. there is snow over us right now, but the atmosphere, surface, just little bit too dry. so a lot of this evaporating. eventually we get the flakes down we'll keep tracking to the south and west and see if we can find the snow. breaking it down, this morning, it will eventually snow, slow things down, temperatures in the low 20's, so that powdery fluffy snow
5:47 am
that will easily accumulate. it will be light though, but again, to up about 2 inches of snow possible, before the storm system is out of here, pretty much anywhere through the delaware valley. again will reduce the visibility, bad thing here is the timing. it will come during the height of the rush hour. and that's going to slow things down, make things pretty slick. so just pack extra patience and time this morning on your ride n again brink -- bringing you back live, toward wilmington, no snow yet but coming shortly. more updates coming upment for a check on the rolled, we send it back to the studio with jessica for a look at the traffic. >> thank you justin. good to see live account right there, where you can see no snow really starting to accumulate yet but there are some spots that will be hit relatively shortly. immediately right now though, we talk about the ben franklin bridge, see everything doing just fine headed eastbound actually losing one lane to ongoing construction into new jersey. but no problems headed on into the city. all lanes are open there headed westbound. now over on 995 at girard, you can see no snow starting to
5:48 am
fall there as well. southbound toward center city area though starting to pack in little bit of volume. still moving along great. northbound lanes moving fine, as well. we do have accident closing route 202 at cold soil road. your alternate to get around that for the time being is to take princeton pike. we have a set of traffic lights out in malfunctioning out byberry road at evan street. we just want you to not forget, this is real important, specially on a day like this, when on the road you can get updated traffic information with new your drive app. download for and droid devices by going to cbsphilly.com/your drive. >> happening in just about a half hour, space x is set to launch another mission to the international space station. and for the first time, the company will try to land the rockets first stage on this floating platform. engineers say they've a 50-50 shot at success. if it works it could be a huge step toward a re-usable rocket significantly cutting the cost of space travel.
