>> ♪ >> we start with breaking news at 11:00. delaware state police cancel an amber alert issued for two young children. they're safe but tonight a mystery remains. their mother is still missing.

good evening, i'm natasha brown. police say there's a real concern for the mother's safety and welfare. she was last seen at her home in the twin willows development on east cahill lane in smyrna kent county. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live outside of smyrna's police department tonight. he's got the breaking developments. matt. >> reporter: natasha, as you mentioned it was earlier this afternoon that delaware state police issued that amber alert for those two missing children. they said that they disappeared along with their mother 35-year-old keisha hamilton. that alert was canceled and police say their mother is still mig at this time. they do the no know where she is. we have some video to show you from a little bit earlier taken from the last place keisha was seen, that is her home on the 100 block of east cahill street in smyrna. police say this is where she was last seen friday evening. earlier today police issued an amber alert saying keisha's four year old daughter and

four month old son were missing along with their mother. during a traffic stop along i64 not long ago police say they found the two children safe with their father cortez hamilton sr. they say they doan know where key keisha hamilton is. she's a 35-year-old african-american woman about 5-foot 6-inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. police are not saying yet if cortez hamilton sr. her husband and children's father is somehow involved in her disappearance. and back here live outside of the police station in smyrna police are telling us they are genuinely concerned for keisha's safety at this point. if you know anything about her whereabouts you're asked to immediately call police. we're live in smyrna tonight matt rivers, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> matt thank you so much. also developing now in montgomery county, a five-year-old boy fell about 30 feet from a ski lift at spring mountain adventures in shanksville. this is video from a web

camera. the child was flown to children's hospital of philadelphia. there's no word on his condition. the bitter cold is hanging around for another night. "eyewitness news" in olde city where folks out and about tonight. they were bundled up. meteorologist justin drabick is tracking the temperatures during this bitter blast that just continues. justin. >> hey, natasha. good news though. we're going to get rid of this arctic air over the next 12 hours or so. nonetheless it's pretty nasty outside right now as far as temperatures go. the good news is the wind is starting to calm down. these are the actual air temperatures. 18 at the airport in philadelphia, 8 degrees inland at the atlantic city airport 11 in mount pocono, 10 in reading. down to nine in quakertown this hour, 12 in willow grove northeast philadelphia checking in at 18 degrees. here is what the wind chill value, wait feels like on exposed skin when you factor in the breeze. feels like four in allentown nine in millville, five in trenton so still some light

breezes to deal with overnight. clear skies for the moment so the little heat we had today is escaping right back to the atmosphere. also still some fresh snow on the ground is allowing temperatures to drop. sunday morning when you wake up you're going to be dealing with single digits in many suburbs north and west of the city to about 14 for a low temperature for philadelphia, 10 in parts of south jersey. all right. not a bad rebound though on sunday afternoon. going to get above freezing. 37 for the high for philadelphia with some sunshine. upper 30's at the shore. near 30 in the poconos under partly sunny skies. now, coming up in the full forecast we'll talk about these temperatures. not as cold as it has been but we'll be tracking the chance for freezing rain next week. details coming up in a few minutes. natasha. >> justin thanks. a south philadelphia oil refinery is in the process of restarting after a series of issues caused heavy flares and smoke. thick black smoke was seen billowing from the philadelphia energy solutions refinery on west passyunk avenue this afternoon.

no one was injured. the refinery saying the flaring does not pose any health concerns for the surrounding community. an investigation is currently under way. now france is on high alert following three days of bloodshed that started at the satirical newspaper charlie hebdo. 20 people were killed including three gunmen. right now police are hunting for the common law wife of one of the gunmen amedy coulibaly. thousands of people attended vigils to honor the terror victims we're learning more about what went on inside the two locations from the armed terrorists took hostages in and around paris on friday. cbs news correspondent susan mcginnis has more on that part of the story. >> reporter: police commandos who stormed this paris market and killed cameoed coulibaly knew what the gunman didn't, an employee was hiding in the deli's walk in refrigerator and he had 15

customers with him. he said he turned off the light and shut off the cold and urged the 14 adults and two year old child to stay calm. we escaped through an elevator used for food. police firsthand cuffed him. he drew them a picture of the store's layout showing coulibaly's location. one of the hostages in the store was a woman only identified as marie. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: she says coulibaly immediately killed four hostages when he walked in. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: he frightened the hostages by saying he had explosives and that he wasn't afraid to die. 28 miles away brothers cherif and said kouachi were holding michelle catalano hostage. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: the brothers let him go after an hour. then holed up inside for six hours before they were killed after they opened fire on police. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: catological no, sir said he's happen to be alive but was never scared because the gunmen were

respectful. he kept himself calm by diverting their attention away from a colleague who was hiding nearby. that colleague was secretly texting police to tell them what was happening inside. susan mcginnis for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, the hospital law enforcement official in pennsylvania could be facing charges but in a news conference today attorney general kathleen kane's lawyer said that no matter what happens, she will not resign her position. this after a midweek philadelphia inquirer report claiming a grand jury recommended criminal charges against kane. this all goes back to a grand jury convened in 2009. a special prosecutor was investigating if attorney general kathleen kane improperly leaked information about that case. leaking grand jury information is illegal in pennsylvania. at a saturday press conference kane's attorney denied any wrongdoing. >> so, i ask the public and all of you in the media withhold your judgment, don't jump to conclusions on guilt.

>> reporter: the attorney general testified to a state grand jury convened in montgomery county. the inquirer reportd that grand jury recommended charging kane with perjury and contempt of court. if that report is true, the decision to charge kane now falls with montgomery county district attorney risa vetri furman. kane's lawyer expressed confidence no charges will be filed but if they are -- >> she was truthful at all times when she testified before the grand jury. and she will be found innocent. >> the especially prosecutor in this case was appointed by state government officials with whom kane has clashed politically before. her lawyer argues that's what this probe is really all about >> this railroad train seems to me to be driven by some men with grudges men who are bitter and angry. >> in a statement released friday, kane herself was aggressive in her response saying "i will continue to clean up harrisburg despite

these attacks that seem to be more about politics than the merits." experts have told "eyewitness news" that it could be weeks before the montgomery county district attorney decides whether to bring any charges. also tonight detectives are investigating a deadly shooting outside of a chinese restaurant. it happened at 56th and greenway in philadelphia's kingsessing neighborhood. police say the victim in his early 20's was shot in the chest about 12:45 this morning. he was pronounced dead at that scene. police are not yet releasing the victim's name. so far no arrests have been made in this case. and right now the search is on for a gunman who stole a television from the wal-mart in south philadelphia. police say the suspect walked out of the store with the tv in a shopping cart. after refusing to show a receipt to the store security guard, police say the 38-year-old suspect pulled up his shirt to show that there was a handgun concealed in his waist band. no one was hurt in this incident. >> ♪ stay with us everyone. still ahead on "eyewitness

>> got a story you would like us to investigate? e-mail your idea to i-team at cbs3.com. >> five members of a virginia family are dead after their car collided with a tractor-trailer in maryland. the victims include three adults, two children and an unborn child. the truck driver who is identified as 28 year vinette maynard of delaware. a chester township firehouse in delaware county is closed after it was hit by a car. take a look at the damage. it's pretty significant. "eyewitness news" on concorde road. police say the car crashed into the firehouse near one of the garage doors about 4:30 this morning and took off. police followed a trail of antifreeze leaving the scene and located the car. the driver was arrested. >> as soon as we get the wall secure then we're going to start working on getting

apparatus out of the building so we can get it placed in another location. we've had a few locals had that have reached out to help out with that. we'll be able to respond from a different area hopefully by the end of the day. then the building itself will be worked on getting it fix. >> no charges have been filed against the driver. comedian bill cosby heckled again during a performance in ontario canada. >> we believe the women. >> a cnn reporter was inside the theater last night and shot this video. a group stood up and chanted we believe the women. cosby continued on with his routine after the hecklers left and later release add statement thanking fans for their support. at least 18 women have now accused cosby of past sexual assaults. no charges have been filed. dozens gathered on independence mall to rally in support of local police officers, local elected officials and dignitaries spoke at the delaware valley proper blue rally. the event was organized to honor new york police officer

rafael ramos and wenjan liu. both were killed during an ambush shooting just last month. there's more legal trouble for george zimmerman. he's been released on bail after florida police arrested him for allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend. a judge also ordered zimmerman to avoid contact with the woman. zimmerman has had several brushes with the law since he was acquitted in the shooting death of trayvon martin. recovery teams, they have now raised the tail section of airasia flight 8501 from the java sea. they used ropes slings and under water air bags to lift the wreckage to the surface. a crane lifted the tail to a recovery ship. flight data recorders for this make of airbus jet are housed in the sale but it's still unclear if the plane's devices are still intact. now the latest launch of a space-x rocket was most al success. nasa tracked the trip of the falcon spacecraft as it carried a supply capsule to the international space station. but an attempt to make a soft

landing of the rocket's leftover booster failed. normally the giant tube crashes into the ocean. but this time space-x had hoped to reuse it. >> we made to sleep with that extra blanket tonight. temperatures down to the single digits in many spots across the delaware valley. the good news is this arctic air will be slowly lifting out of the region over the next 12 to 24 hours. we'll check in with our weather watchers. many areas in the single digits and teens this hour with the clear skies and calmer winds. aaron in montclair pennsylvania checks in with 7 degrees this hour. ella davis in center square pennsylvania at eight. let's check out some of these other numbers. pretty low temperatures here. eight in burnville by lieutenant allen matthews, seven in perkasie, chuck. look at that, that's just not right. 4 degrees this hour in gilbertsville from eileen. that's some cold stuff. again like i said the winds are going calm so at least you don't is to deal with those brutal wind chills. outside right now and across center city we're looking at

the ben franklin bridge. mainly a clear sky. cold, temperatures hanging out in the upper teens right now. compare these numbers to this time yesterday. about a degree colder in the mountains to 18 degrees colderly in south jersey. association that's that cold air that's really settling in tonight with those clear skies and lighter winds and fresh snow pack. calm winds right now. philadelphia and parts of south jersey a little bit of a breeze up towards the lehigh valley out of the west-southwest around 5 miles per hour. clear conditions right now. clouds will start to stream in from the west through the overnight hours so tomorrow will eventually go partly sunny but high pressure still dominating over the midatlantic so that will keep our weekend dry during the day sunday. 30's for our high so we're getting back above freezing, close to average in the upper 30's, partly sunny skies. wet weather does return for monday and looks like the storm gets in here before day break monday. not a big storm but that cold air will still be locked in place. there could be a few areas of light freezing rain from the

city northward through the lehigh valley. don'tly takes a little bit of ice to cause problems on untreated surfaces. we'll see the changeover to plain rain later on in the morning. that storm will be gone later during the during the day monday. dry conditions tuesday. still cold with highs in the low 30's but we'll take it, better than the teens and 20's. there's the two arctic airs just to our north. it's going to lift out of here over the next 12 to 24 hours so you can see frankford some milder air trying to builder back in monday. this isn't going to be warm but at least closer to average and then there's really no signs of true arctic airing in through much of next week. so here we go. through the overnight hours just a few clouds will come by some sunshine during the day sunday. those clouds will quickly build back in sunday night. 5:00 a.m. monday morning notice the areas of pink basically from the poconos on south even into parts of northern delaware and southern new jersey. this indicates potential for some freezing rain and then we see the changeover to just plane rain later on during the morning through the afternoon and then by monday evening most of that moisture moves

off shore and we're just left with some clouds. now, how much ice are we talking about? not a whole lot but again it only takes a little bit to cause problems. maybe a few hundreds of an inch on northward. best shot to see this up through the lehigh valley and poconos. overnight though it's cold. 14 degrees for our low for center city. many suburbs already in the single digits with a few clouds around light breeze out of the southwest at five to 10. not a bad rebound tomorrow, though. partly sunny skies. after that cold start we get up to about 37 for the afternoon high temperature. all right. here we go with the extended forecast. it stays cold, nothing terribly cold. upper 30's sunday and monday. again, watch out for that potential freezing rain early monday morning changing over to plain rain. then tuesday we'll dry it out 32 for the high temperature. clouds move in for wednesday and thursday as the storm system passes to our south and east but right now looks like we stay dry with highs in the 30's and then looking ahead to next weekend sunshine around next saturday, temperatures in the mid 30's.

this looks like the right leg. he'll be re-evaluated tomorrow. to the game the injury a sign of that he knows to come. a little while after mason leaves david pastor knack gets his first goal of his career. in the third period pastor knack again the second of his game season and career. claude giroux would help the flyers avoid the shutout on the power play right here but that's going to be your lone highlight for the orange and black. they lose three-one. it was busy at the center today. sixers take organize the pacers this evening. looking for back to back wins for just the second time this season. and the sixers jumping tout a big lead. young guys will being confident. wroten with the alley-oop to kj mcdaniels. the sixers down by one. we have 10 seconds left to play. michael carter-williams with the drive and the basket. that's going to put them up by one. last chance for the pacers. david west takes a shot.

no good. so, yes, the sixers pull it off tonight. they win one home 93 to 92. villanova taking on depaul at home. wildcats first home game of the new year. depaul not much of a match for nova. darrun hilliard with the steal and the dunk for two of his 21 points. jay wright loves that. later on in the half nova with some nice passing. finds ryan arcidiacono. the three right there. villanova wins 81 to 64. tulsa visiting temple. owls have won six games in a row. they led at the half. bond with the slam here and that will give the owls a 10-point lead early in the second. the owls just completely collapsed. they're outscored by 13 in the second half they lose to tulsa 63-56 the final. george washington visiting lasalle. second half nice pass down low from stoops to jarrel wright.
