for you on the road checking the conditions, so, you can know what to expect when you walk out the door. >> jan carabeo is montgomery county carol erickson is driving around in the cbs-3 mobile weather lab very carefully. we start out with kate now in the weather center. >> reporter: we continue to have our eye on the storm this morning. this storm is kind of interesting one. because it is a little bit of everything. it is not a straight rainstorm. it is not a snowstorm. well, wintery mix really is the best way to put it depending on where you are seeing little bit of everything that morning. let's peak what we're dealing with in our area on storm scan3. notice the precipitation beginning to lighten up. light rain right now across south jersey, delaware, light freezing rain, or wintery mix some sleet in our western suburbs, see it is not quite as heavy as it was, steadiest of the rain over northern chester county, right near my hometown every phoenixville, up toward the awed owe bonn oaks area, seeing rain and freezing rain right now icy spots on the roads the good news is the precipitation is light. the bad news it doesn't take much when talking about ice.

only takes a trace of ice for your tires to skid out. dangerous situation in you're out un the roadways, especially areas that freeze first, bridges overpasses, so winter weather advisory in effect across most of the area different end times why we just have monday in, there in the city and nearby suburbs, 10:00 a.m., up through lehigh vale, northern bucks, montgomery, western chester counties goes until 1:00 this afternoon pocono region that winter weather advisory until 5:00 p.m. that's because in the poconos frozen precipitation possibility all day snow, ice, rain, freezing rain, even some sleet. in the north and west suburbs including philadelphia, freezing rain and ice giving way to all rain by late morning, or early afternoon depending where you are, mainly just cold rain across south jersey and delaware, although can't rule out few slicks spots specially back streets, like we said, untreated or elevated surfaces. temperatures right now, 34 at the airport, 32 in reading, to up 34 in wilmington, notice how close we are on either side of freezing and the grounds has been very, very cold, thanks to the extended stretch of cold weather. soap, looking at some ice no

matter where you are careful on the sidewalks careful on the front walkway freezing rain to rain in the sit all rain down the shore at 42, poconos, it is a wintery mess all day long. we'll see how the roads are faring early this monday morning. we check with jessica. >> hey, good morning, 50:00 it, we don't have much in the way of volume out there on most of the majors, but we do want to urge to you give yourself some extra time when headed out the door. we start things off out on the ben franklin bridge. we know bridges tends to freeze and become little more slippery just before most of the majors do. you can see already on the ben franklin bridge, actually really damp roadways here. see ponding g over to the showed, from the philly side. so headed westbound on into the city, all lanes open fortunately. moving just little bit slower than normal. we like to see. that will now out on 422 right around trooper road, everything moving along great here as well. see ongoing construction in the area. but the eastbound lanes headed toward the king of prussia area moving great, there as well. out in trenton, new jersey, water main break at pennington road southbound at olden

avenue blocking out the right-hand lane. and an accident out in plymouth holman avenue and pastel lane. out in south philly still the water main break there 19th street at federal street with several homes affected due. that will currently no problems for mass transit. that's great alternate today. septa, dart, new jersey transit running on time. currently no delays at the philadelphia international airport, back to you. >> all over the tri-state area you should add extra time to your morning commute no doubt about that. "eyewitness news" jan carabeo joins us from conshohocken to check out the roads in the suburbs, jan good morning. >> raining off and on here in conshohocken all morning long. you can see the sheen on the roadway here already this morning, and actually penndot truck came through the area laying the road with another layer of salt. you can see all of the salt granules on the road there cars are coming by, and crushing that up, of course, that's going to help keys these roads ice-free. but it is already getting icy out here this morning as the

temperature hovers right around the freezing mark, so we are setting ourselves up for very serious and very possibly tricky morning commute. the penndot trucks have been out since midnight. the full complimentary of trucks have been out all 182 state trucks, out salting the roads. >> this will be a spreading operation this morning. meaning, they're just going to be spreading the amount. they actually don't even have zero put down the brine solution because enough of the solution was already left on the roads from last week's storm, little ahead of the game in that respect. but, they also have to bring in additional contractors as well, so expect to seymour than 200 salt trucks on the roads this morning. and penndot want to remind folks how to drive around these trucks, take a listen. >> please don't drive around the snow plow. if you come upon a snow plow, stay six car lengths behind the plow. just best place to be, that snow truck and plow in front of you will be spreading salt on the pavement, and that is you will have traction, the salt helps keep the roadway

overnight. look at all of that gushing water. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us now at 19th and federal and justin we hear that crews were able to stop the flowing water after several hours, good morning. >> reporter: yes, good morning, erika. for now the flooding has been contained, just take a look out here. see it is pretty dry out here considering. but still work to do this morning, as residents in this area are waking to up little or no water service this morning. bubble up from below gallons upon gallons of water the steady flow soaked the corner every south 19th and federal street. about 12:45 this morning the water department says there appears to have been a break in the 12-inch un ground pipe near the intersection. to make repairs the city said its krause had to shut off water flow to the area, an effort that likely helps stem needing into nearby homes and businesses. the water department estimates the pipe break and water shut off affect at least 30

resident. and this morning we know that crews will be back out here to repair that water main break it appears to be somewhere in this area on 19th street this morning. now, as to what cause that break, that remains unclear at this time. but, residents should expect to have their water on in this area sometime soon. we are live in south philadelphia, justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> tears continue to search for missing delaware mother more than two days after she was last seen. police say 35 year old keisha hamilton has been missing since friday night. with her four year old daughter and four month old son. now, investigators found the children safe with their father cortez hamilton in indianna sunday night. he is now in custody awaiting extra addition back to delaware on three warrants. anyone who may have seen keisha hamilton is asked to contact the police. >> now elsewhere in bucks county vigil for teacher who has been missing nearly a week. "eyewitness news" at a vigil for christopher tully last night in warwick. tully disappeared last tuesday walking near the off ramp of

76 west toward city line avenue. the married father of three has been teaching at middle bucks institute of technology since 2002. tully's brother law addressed him directly. >> if you hear this, chris just contact somebody, let them know that you are okay. again, the outpouring, chris i don't think you even realize how many people out here care, and are concerned for your well-being. >> we're told tully suffers from bipolar disorder, and does not have his medicine. >> happening today philadelphia remembers a fallen firefighter. a memorial service for lieutenant joyce craig is set for 10:00 this morning at the mayor's reception room at city hall. she was promoted possible tomb usually after being trapped in a west oaklane row home on december 9th. lieutenant craig the first female philadelphia fire fighter to die in the line of duty. >> well, developing right now divers find one of the black

boxes from the downed airasia. it contains the flight data recorder. this is major break through in trying to figure out why that plane crashed into the java sea last month. recovery teams are still work to go recover the cockpit voice recorder. meanwhile the tail of the plane is back on dry land, the red metal chunk was brought to the surface from a depth of about 100 feet using inflatable balloons. part of a wing and debris from the engine have also been located roughly 2 miles away from where the tail was found. >> well, couple of ski lift scares to tell but when toy two boys fall off two separate ski lift on pennsylvania mountains, now weaver the video, you have to see there is of one of the falls. >> also, we are continuing to keep an eye on the slick spots on the road this morning. we'll check in with our crews all across the area, get your traffic and weather together on the 3's as you look live from the mobile weather lab. you can see the windshield wipers are working got son rain coming down. we'll be right back.

>> morning, you might want to plan on leaving a little earlier than normal today because after mix of freezing rain could make the roads rather slick. your sidewalks walking out your front door, the bus stop, you're looking live at the schuylkill expressway from spring garden. we're get morgue school closings and delays, by the way, you can see them at the bottom of your screen. we'll check traffic and weather together on the 3's coming up in just a little bit. >> two boys are recovering after separate weekends accidents on pennsylvania ski slopes. we have some dramatic video hereof one of those accidents. you can see a nine year old boy there he was dangling from a ski lift at liberty mountain resort in fairfield before falling 20 feet. we're told that boy suffered a leg injury, but should be okay. >> also a five year old boy was flown to chop after

falling 30 feet up a lift, at spring mountain in swenksville montgomery county. the owner tells thaws boy was wearing a mel met when the accident happened, saturday night. right now 5:13, we get the latest on this storm, kale good morning. >> good morning everyone, well, it is a mess out there as promised, although, it is lightening up a little bit now. we may have bit after break in the action now that said icy spots already forming out there even if the precipitation lightens, still dealing with some ice temperatures right around the freezing mark, so when you get any kind of precipitation it, tends to freeze on contact. let's take a look at what we're dealing with with the storm. see little break again moving into the area. and into portions of maryland, as well, before that next batch of rain moves in from the south. brink withing it some mild air. so things start to warm up a little bit as we go through the next couple of hours and that means it will eventually transition over to just plane rain. but, for now again talking about a bit of a mess. so you can see where the pink shade; the steadiest of it right now over northern montgomery county into

northern chester county, as well that's where you are seeing some freezing rain, precipitation up there into some snow, in carbon, monroe counties, in the poconos that's the area that will get hardest hit with the threat of frozen precipitation all day long, from sun up to sundown. temperatures now very close to freezing, and remember, last year's ice storm early february temperatures generally in the mid 30's when all of that ice happened. and over half million people were without power. so it doesn't take temperatures sub-freeze to go get ice. you can be in the mid 30's, be at 34 degrees, you can be at 34 degrees in wilmington, 33 in dover, and still see some icy spots out there especially on roadways, bridges, overpasses, anything that is elevated when the cold air gets underneath a bridge or overpass, that surface freezes whole lot faster. poconos, sleet, freezing rain, philadelphia and suburbs again, freezing rain to rain, and in new jersey and delaware mainly all chilly rain as we go through the entire day and even into tonight. our team three weather coverage continues with meteorologist carol erickson

live in the mobile weather lab in valley forge montgomery county. hi carol. just passing through the area, 422 west right now let me show you out the window. moving right along at fairly good clip. not trying to give anybody a false sense every security, because conditions can change. but at this point i haven't seen one person slow their roll, as ukee would say at all out there. so, just pay attention though, because we have air temperatures right now in the mobile weather lab looking at 32 degrees. these roads have been salted, almost all of them, the major ones, you have seen a loft trucks out there but with the air, the way it is, the dew points are lower than the air and we could get that evaporated cooling that can lead to the sleet and the freezing rain, so just take it easy out there. despite what you see a lot of people doing, which is moving along with no problem. i want to really fast show you a graphic right now just traveling across the northern portions of the state probably the biggest problems

thereon i80 wintery mix freezing rain, up you there, and it will stay there longest. i-95 mostly rain, all day and then the pennsylvania turnpike, you go freezing rain to rain, and then general if you're going to be seeing this freezing rain see tending from south to north. that's the general impression. as you can see headed out to the pottstown area, we are not looking at a problem at this point even though the temperature is 32 degrees. we just are hoping that all of that salt that we have seen put down on the road is actually working. so let us know what's happening elsewhere. >> ill, thank up, carol. i do have a lot to talk about just at 5:16. we get right to t because there is a lot of stuff going on. we start things off out on the 42 freeway out in new jersey, where actually they currently really don't have many problems. over on the right-hand side you can see disable truck or vehicle, over into the right hand shoulder. that's been there for quite some time. trying to figure out what's he is doing over here, southbound

lane moving just fine just past that. the northbound lane starting to build in little volume. see shiny roadways here as well headed northbound toward philadelphia or possibly headed to the 295 interchange now out on the blue route everything moving along great here also around mcdade. southbound moving along great. same story pretty much for the northbound side. now exactly what i was talking about here, we have slippery roadways, and i'll tell you why we are telling you to slow you down, i'll show you exactly why. we have string every accidents really just popped up all around the same time. right at route one northbound at route four; which is right around after on dale. another one in west saulsbury sigh on hill road near farm lane. another accident, right lower frederick here, spring mount road at main street. another pottstown, 422 eastbound at route 724 so just slow down. ukee erika back to you. >> gentlemen, spin out this morning, jeep on 95, sure. massive show of solidarity in trans. we will show you the huge outpouring after last week's terror attacks. >> and it locks like the luck

county delaware. thirty-five year old keisha hamilton has been missing since friday. her children were the subject after amber alert. they've been found. and their father is in custody. >> divers have retrieved one of the black boxes from airasia flight 8501. the plane went down december 28th in the java sea. those boxes could give investigators a clue as to why the plane crashed. >> your time now 5:21, hammers hit crayola a what they did after taking control of the crayon makers facebook page. also this. >> and the goal end globe goes to ... >> awe hollywood award season kicks in to high gear. we'll take a look at the front run tears win an oscar and the red carpet fashion more details on that coming up.

hour, for now we check in with jessica cay. >> good morning, we go outside, start things off on the vine street expressway. the roadway there looks quite slippery as you can see very well. we can see break lights, around 24th. westbound where the taillights are, headed toward the schuylkill expressway or 30th street station, eastbound lanes, you can see some water starting to spray up out from underneath the cars there eastbound lanes headed toward 956789 we just again want to urge you just to take your time. now the ben franklin bridge from the jersey side you can see shiny roadways there as well headed toward -- that's where the tail lights are headed toward the city. westbound all lanes open still moving okay. we do have a loft accidents out in valley township, we have vehicle that spun out route 30 bypass eastbound just near airport road. another accident on 422 as fire police are on the scene. eastbound at route 724. ukee? >> the teams in the conference championships are all set in the national football league. yesterday's games not without
