he was taken into custody after police found him driving his wife's car. "eyewitness news" reporter necessity he will mcclaren is live in mount holly with the latest details, noel. >> reporter: chris and jessica, this is first time many of seen kyle crosby since his wife disappeared about two weeks ago. now, her family want him to leave them to her body. that is all kyle crosby had to say to a judge as he was a arraigned via video conference from the max number security jail area he has been formally charged with the murder of his 26 year-old wife, erika crippen, and endangering the lives of her two children. investigators are still searching for crippen's body. >> we just want erika's body found so we can bury her, give her kid closure and give our family closure. >> reporter: crippen's family left the courtroom with heavy hearts after hearing crosby's voice for the very first time in weeks. deputy first assistant

inside was damaged. chopper three over the scene this morning the at the former second bank of the united states. it is now home to a gallery of portraits of historical figures. crews were able to keep the flames contained to the basement before they could spread to more sensitive areas. >> we're so relieved the the fire was caught so quickly thanks to the prompt response from the philadelphia fire department, which was great. right now, we're just in the process of figuring out what, if anything happens to the collection. >> reporter: no one was hurt, and for now investigators are still working to find out just what started the fire. well, kelly drive in philadelphia a has reopened at this hour, following two violent car crashes this morning. kelly drive closed for several hours in both directions near the intersection of brewery hill drive. three people were hospitalized, tonight, we're still waiting for updates on their conditions. meantime investigators are still trying to figure out howl3 that all happened. chopper three over the other crash on kelly drive this morning this one near

"eyewitness news" in the spring garden neighborhood of philadelphia a where pedestrians had to contend with some windy conditions, outside there. let's go outside with meteorologist kathy orr standing by on the sky deck with what we can expect moving forward, kathy? >> chris, we're talking about cold temperatures again tonight and a little bit of the wind and yes, a developing storm system that will brush by with snow for some of us. take a look at temperatures right now we're looking at 20's in philadelphia. twenty-eight. allentown 23. millville, 29. poconos is 17. average high this time of the year is 40 degrees. so well below average. feels like the teens pretty much every where with the exception of philadelphia, feels like 20. poconos feels like it is only ten. now we are going to be seeing

temperatures falling through the 20's during the evening period, with partly cloudy skies, high clouds are moving, toward our region a ahead of this, developing area have low pressure off the mid-atlantic bringing us a a chance of snow for some of us overnight and tomorrow morning. so coming up we will talk about who will see the best chance of a coating of snow, clouds will be back in the forecast, we will talk about how long that will last, abe temperatures, are on the rise in the seven day. now there is something to get excited about. i'll be back with that later on, in the broadcast. for now back to you in the the studio. >> all right kathy thank you. philadelphia police are asking for the public, in how to identify a suspected gunman and several robbery suspects. all caught on camera. investigators say man seen in the corner shot the shot a 24 year-old several times including once in the face. victim was shot while walking from the store on the 2600 block of south schill street in elmwood new years day. he did survive the shooting. today police released a disturbing video of the robbery inside radio shack at

40th and walnut in university city. two suspects, forced an employee in the storage room and assaulted him. this happened back on december 11th. the suspect then took $800 worth of merchandise, put items on a hand truck and wheeled those stolen goods out of the store. another robbery caught on tape this one at a wawa in wissonoming. police say this man walk in the store, went behind the counter and stole a carton of cigarettes. you can see him placing the cartons in the plastic bag. this theft happened on the 1600 block of harbison avenue january the fourth. if you can identified any of those suspects call police. maker of the social media cell phone app has released a a statement following the arrest of the suspect in south jersey. investigators say that 23 year-old aaron johnson of mays landing met two boys on a messaging app called kik. he is now facing several charges, including sexual assault, and incidents involving those boys. today, the maker of kik

released a statement that read in part by using, user names instead of phone numbers as unique identifier on kik users personal information like cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses are never, ever shared on kik. well, new at 5:00 chester county teacher sarah o'neill is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 16 year-old student at church farm school. o'neill was a teacher at that school. police in west whiteland township say that the relationship began in january of 2014 and lasted ten months. the 35 year-old is charged were four counts of corruption of minors. new jersey governor chris christie delivers his state of the state address with an eye on 2016. the the speech to a joint session of the legislature comes as the the governor is reportedly considering a run for president. kane. the the reporters have been ordered to appear in court by a special prosecutor, part of an effort to reveal confidential sources. the editor of the inquirer said reporters will invoke the state shield law which does offer legal protection against reporters identifying sources. kane is under investigation after secret information from a 2009 grand jury was leaked to the sister paper of the inquirer the the philadelphia daily news. kane's attorney has denied any wrongdoing on her part the montgomery county d.a. risa vetri furhman will decide if charges should be persued against kathleen kane. good evening everyone. it is a busy one today, all of the usual majors that would have rush hour traffic, you are experience ago this right now. right on time. traveling on the northbound side of i-95 we are in the swamp of rush hour delays out of the vine street expressway area and as you make your way approaching cottman avenue, beyond that, i would not be surprised if that traffic was

touching the area of the academy. anyone heading out of center city philadelphia a a expect some big time delays on i-95. schuylkill expressway looks like the schuylkill this have afternoon or this evening, rather. if you are traveling westbound you will notice volume approaching the the roosevelt boulevard and as you continue your way throughout the western suburbs. now, between the area of the vine street expressway and 202 you will have some breaks but you will find it slow the entire length. so give yourself more time. traveling on the eastbound side of the schuylkill we have delays out of the area of king of prussia down toward roosevelt boulevard and again approaching vine street expressway. traveling city avenue at schuylkill and you know that intersection anticipate an accident causing some problems in that area a as we move in towards new jersey we have a water main break which is closing main street not too far from the moorestown area between chester avenue and mount laurel. if you are traveling this area central avenue would be your best alternate and nothing major for mass transit. now back to the desk, jessica. thanks very much. still ahead on "eyewitness news" it was love at first

well, very pretty day out there today. >> gorgeous day. >> if you want to look at the plus side, right. we're not into cold weather. >> we're very positive. >> it is typically the coldest month of the year. it is pretty cold out there but we will see a warming trend later in the week and toward the weekend. but for now we are talking about clouds roaming in and that developing storm system off the the coast. outside right now it is looking pretty. temperatures are cold but seasonally cold. jack frost big boulder we have skiers and snow borders enjoying this wintry weather. that wintry weather will continue as temperatures plunge in the teens and some single digits overnight tonight. we will take awe cross the delaware valley to show so of the high temperatures today. below average every where. dover air force base temperatures 37 degrees. millville at the airport 37. blue bell at wings field airport 36 and liberty high in bethlehem the high temperature only 33 degrees. but at least we're above freezing. the right the now in the the city it is 28. twenty-three in allentown.

seventeen in the poconos. colder through great lakes and noncompliance. minneapolis at the 14. milwaukee at 18. some cold air will move into our neck of the wood overnight tonight. all eyes on this a developing area of low pressure off the coast. for most we are just spectators to this but it will slowly get organized and move toward the the north and east. as it does it will be brushing by. del marva especially through southern delaware, possibly a as far north as dover, south jersey could be seeing a morning rain or wet snow shower. for rest of us mostly cloudy skies and then this thing is out of here. temperatures will be slowly rising during the day on thursday, skies clearing, we will be back to partly sunny skies. we will watch another low pressure system to the north. we will stay in the sunshine for friday. then we will see a gradual warm up over the weekend. not 30's but back to 40's which is actually normal for this time of the year. who has best chance of seeing snow with this system passing by. chance through south jersey and even central and southern

delaware but the better chance even through sussex county delaware, cape may county a wintry mix and toward atlantic city a coating of snow. so not the a big deal but something to be aware of come tomorrow morning. overnight partly cloudy and cold. low temperature of 19. during the day tomorrow mostly cloud which a chance of rain or wet snow shower in the morning and then some lingering moisture possible during the afternoon the high temperature around 32 degrees. right around freezing. on our three day forecast thursday looking for a mix of clouds and sun. temperature 36. and then by friday looking good breezy but sunny with a high temperature near 40 degrees. that is something to look forward to. kate will have details on the warm upcoming up with the seven day next half an hour but after the the break we will have beasley and sports. we will be right back.

i'm jessica dean with the top stories, a woman is shot and killed in broad daylight just a few blocks at temple university. right now that gunman is still on the loose. murder charges are filed against a mount laurel man kyle crosby ace accused of murdering his wife erika crippen. she has been missing since the

today was a day to honor the victims of those attacks. in france, the the three police office hours were killed, were given the the legion of honor which is that country's highest commendation. and in israel thousands turned out for funerals of the, four victims killed in the grocery store attack. well, in new jersey, today, several muslim residents came to philadelphia federal court trying to reverse a ruling that found new york city police could legally monitor their activities. residents called that spying based honorary lincoln without a cause. our pat ciarrocchi has more. >> unaudible. >> reporter: rallying cry came from the region's muslim

communities. outside the u.s. court of appeals in philadelphia. two years ago the story broke that the new york city police department surveilled muslims in new york and new jersey in the wake of 9/11. even though they were not suspect of crimes this attorney was in court today calling that practice unconstitutional. >> it a seems that people who are religious may simply by virtue of their faith be more dangerous and that is an assumption that the law prohibits. >> reporter: case had been thrown out last year by a federal judge in newark. the lawyers for two civil rights groups are appealing claiming that once the the public learned who the the nypd spied on, it inflict harm. >> businesses, were surveilled, have fewer customers and a couple whose house appeared in the ny pd report suffered a loss of the value of their property. the. >> reporter: in previous court documents the city's legal counsel says nypd surveillance was a legitimate law

i-95, the schuylkill expressway, the roosevelt boulevard. take a look behind me and net is heading in the northbound direction out of the area of 76 all the way through to broad street it is nothing but brake lights ahead of you. give yourself more time. if you are traveling southbound on the roosevelt boulevard we are not seeing major delays but you will be delayed once you get to the schuylkill. seventy-six westbound we are seeing slow downs approaching city avenue, you the through 476 eastbound. it is out of the area of king of prussia a and 202 and traffic lingering on both side around university and south street. on to i-95, i-95 southbound is definitely feeling just a little bit of that rush hour heat around girard avenue because of the construction zone and around cottman but this would be the northbound side we are seeing delights out of the area of the vine street expressway all the way out towards cottman. as we look at our travel times we are seeing slow downs on the blue route schuylkill, 202, in all of the usual places, nothing major, however for mass transit, probably your best bet right now jessica. >> thanks very much. still to come on

well, pot popular car service uber is getting heat in new york. city officials are questioning executives over their prices. customers are able to book a ride using gps technology on their cell phones, but simple little app you can use. during rush hour, however, uber occasionally will double and even sometimes triple its rates. facebook is rolling out a new feature to help police fine missing children. starting to day amber alerts will be sent out to people in specific targeted search areas. the a alerts will include photos and other inportant details right on a user's news

feed. authorities think this is a good way to access some of the 180 million americans currently using the social media platform. it is time to check your philadelphia job market report. >> here's cbs news business analyst jill schlesinger. >> reporter: upcoming tax filing season is likely to be the worst in decades. the combination of the irs agency cuts and a more complicated tax code which includes oversight of the affordable care act are to blame. the irs warns that anyone calling their hot line during tax season may be placed on hold for an average of 34 minutes. that could lead many frustrated americans to turn to tax prep services for help. that also means that accounting and tax prep firms will be hiring more. they will train thousands of people through april and these jobs are for those who prefer flexible hours and want to add extra income. in fact full-time tax pros can often earn in four or five months, what most americans make in a year.

it has been cold this winter. we have had a little bit of snow, ice to deal with but it is nothing like last winter. >> well, far cry from what we experienced last winter. meteorologist justin drabick joins us live, with the cbs-3 mobile weather lab. he is a along the schuylkill river with a look back justin >> reporter: good evening, chris. that is right, what a difference compared to last year at this time here we are halfway through meteorological winter and we have been lucky so far. really if you don't like snow. last year we were dealing with that huge arctic air mass with high temperatures in the teens, record cold, that caused the rivers to ice up and caused ice jams but behind me right now schuylkill river not that bad. there is a little bit of ice, currently but no threat of ice jams. no arctic air mass to talk

well, supporter are going all out to save a south jersey school from closing. >> they have taken a huge fun raising effort and in just a short amount of time they have nearly reached their goal. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry has details from burlington. >> going wonderfully. >> reporter: principal william robbins faced a challenge, raise $250,000 by this week or close, st. paul school by the end of this year. >> who would have thought six weeks ago that we could get to $250,000, just amazing. >> reporter: that is right school officials had less than two months to raise a years worth of fund. some were calling it a christmas miracle. parents rallied using social media and hosting fund raising events. >> we just said we will do it. the don't stop believing. it will happen.

>> we have had some very nice corporate donors. we did have have an anonymous $25,000 check that was given to us. >> reporter: students are thrilled they may get to stay. >> all of these bad thoughts are gone so all happy thoughts now. >> i like all of the teachers my friend. it is nice here. >> reporter: the burlington school is only a few thousand dollars short but they are getting that money from another private school in town. >> it just made sense to try to be of help to st. paul because we have been there. >> reporter: the academy faced closure back in 99 but managed to thrive ever since. >> i just felt that it could not afford to lose an educational alternative like st. paul's offers. >> reporter: next challenge will be keeping registration numbers up which means attracting more students to the classroom. >> the money that we have collect is predicated on population that we have this year. >> reporter: the k through eighth grade school has more than 140 students, they need to maintain that number to stay opened. >> we want to make sure we are in the only here for one year
