suspect was seen running in the wood in theapartment complex. "eyewitness news" reporter jane carabao joins us from the bensalem police department with more on the up investigation, jane good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee, good morning. these burglary suspects certainly did not give up easy police say they crashed their car down the hill and they took off on foot near woods near an apartment complex and this sparked a search including k-9 units and heat seeking equipment. hard to believe anyone could runaway from the crash like this a car in the ditch at corner of state road and tennis avenue. impact so strong the front even was torn off and smashed n2 burglary suspect did make it out and ran off in the woods. they sparked a police chase around 1:30 wednesday morning after the crash a authorities searched the woods and apprehended one of the suspects. the other they say is still on the loose. at this point it remains unclear where this burglary call originated but apparently suspects were after

electronics, a large device spotted nearly falling out of the back of the car. now, again, that second suspect is still at large. police searched the immediate area there including area near the grand view apartments. we are expecting an update from bensalem police later on this morning. reporting live outside bensalem police department jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". here's is what happening in yeadon delaware county a elderly woman dies in the fire, three others escaped the flames. >> it happened in the 1800 block of providence road. "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer joins us on the scene with the details nicole good morning. >> reporter: good morning to both of you. we spoke to the fire marshall a short time ago and he tells me there were in fact working smoke alarms inside this home and that helps three elderly folks get out the safely unfortunately it did not help an elderly woman a 76 year-old woman living on the third

floor. in yeadon delaware county an elderly woman was found dead on her front porch, victim of the fatal fire on providence road. >> crew is a arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front porch area. and they entered the building to find fire in the small porch area. >> reporter: with heavy smoke making its way to the second and third floor sent fire damage to the roof, fire officials say it took 20 minutes to get the it flams under control freezing temperatures made a tough job and all of the more. >> as you can see here, we were able to get salt down, right away, and we were waiting for the major salt trucks to get here. >> reporter: smoke alarms alerted occupants of the home to the fire allowing victim three elderly relatives to get out safely. now they are staying with family as fire fighters finish

the job and investigators work to find a cause. so it appears that victim is delaware county's first fire fatality of the 2015. she was attempting to get out of her home but didn't quite make it. the cause of the fire is still unknown. obviously that investigation should continue throughout this morning and midday. live from yeadon delaware county nicole brewer cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> nicole, thank you. 6:03. here's traffic and weather together on the the three's. katie. >> good morning, ukee. it will be one of those days that splits the delaware val any two. we have a storm that just developed at the last second off to the south and it is going to be clipping our southern most counties. wintry weather expected across portions of the delaware and southern most new jersey. even though it appears as though this storm is going to be making a beeline for philadelphia, it is not, it is steered out to sea. it has plenty of moisture because of its proximity and

half of it over the atlantic ocean but it isn't a really strong system. now with that said there are winter weather advisories posted a across kent sussex and cape may counties, further off to the north we will have a flurry around but that is it and we will see months more than cloud. these advisories are posted until 1:00 p.m. for a coat to go an inch of max of snow. it is a slick travel nuisance type system. temperatures at this hour all below freezing no matter how you slice it. not terribly windy. it is not as harsh for you out there with you with that said with the system nearby, rain snow showers and slick travel as a result. in the poconos we will get a little bit of sunshine but a totally different forecast the the further away you are from this system vittoria. >> thanks so much, katie. good morning, everyone. traveling on the majors, it is looking okay. we are reaching that point. on i-95 we are seeing that volume build and southbound direction, and we will get to that in a moment. lets talk about the roosevelt boulevard where we are starting to see that

southbound volume build approaching area of the schuylkill expressway. if you are traveling southbound moving beyond the kelly drive exit down toward the schuylkill expressway, we will notice a slow down. if you are watching us right now and don't plan to leave for a bit, maybe 20 to 25 minutes, by the time you get there i would anticipate that big old delay. same thing if you are traveling on the southbound side of the i-95 this shot here around cottman, traveling approaching cottman down through the area of the betsy ross, i would anticipate some scattered volume there and definitely again approaching the area of girard. moving our way in toward new jersey, we have a water main break in mount evefram avenue southbound beyond ferry a avenue. some water bubbling up, also freezing, and you will notice icy conditions aim problem in montgomery county and causes that accident in the same stretch. and try to avoid that if you can. classes are canceled at nazareth a cat my grade school. school officials say a number

montgomery county, the district attorney's office there reviewed the facebook post and determined no criminal charges were warranted. woman is murdered in broad daylight waiting for the bus in north philadelphia. this morning the gun man is still on the loose. the the shooting happened at 12th and jefferson. investigators tell us that 56 year-old kim jones was on her way to work when a gunman walk up and shot her in the back of the head. her family wants justice. >> you know, never had any enemies, you know, like i said, you know was born and raised, everybody knew who she was, she caught the the bus every morning to work. so it is like who would do it. >> investigators don't know why jones was targeted. they are looking at the nearby surveillance video to help solve this murder. a kensington store owner is shot in front of his wife and 21 year-old son. officers a say two men walk in the store in the 2900 block of d street. one held a gun to a man's head and demanded money. when the owner grabbed his own

local police departments. this police chase is starting but it ended with a crash down a ditch and these two suspects running away. look the at the video, dramatic video, taken from the scene. that is the suspect's car up ended in a ditch at intersection of state road and tennis avenue in bensalem. now this all started around 1:30 this morning as a burglary call. there was a short police pursuit that ended here. once the two suspects crashed their car authorities say they ran into the woods. there was a large police presence there earlier in the morning, authorities called in k-9 units and heat seeking equipment in this search. one of two suspects has been caught by police but that second suspect is still at large at last check. this scene is near grand view apartments and police were checking that area as well this morning. car has been towed away from the scene and the scene has cleared. now it is still unclear this morning, all of the specific details about this pursuit and crash, and especially where this burglary call originated

however, it does appear that these suspects were after electronics, one of the big devices was seen from the back of the car. we will have much more on this later in the show. we are expecting an update from bensalem police later this morning. reporting live outside bensalem police department, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". we have more breaking news to tell everyone. an elderly woman is dead this morning after a fast moving fire, rips through her home. >> it had happened in the 1800 block of providence road and "eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer is there on the scene with the very latest details, nicole good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ukee and erika. i just spoke with a relative of that woman that 76 year-old woman, keith jackson and his parents live inside the home as well. he says thankfully they were able to get out through a side door unfortunately his up at, whom he tells us was actually smoking on the front porch was not able to make it out. so that is coming straight from the relatives of this

family again, three elder liz people who were able to make it the out of the home up fortunately, that one woman on the front porch, was not able to get out, safely. fire fighters, didn't arrive to the scene until about 3:00 o'clock. they tell us they found heavy smoke and fire in the front of the home again he reenforcing that relative's story about smoke coming out from the front porch. they say fire extended in to the second and third floors, even through the rooftop here from this home. it took crews 20 minutes all together to get these flames under control. we also spoke with deputy chief michael, who told us that the freezing temperatures made this very difficult job that much more trying because it was freezing. the water was freezing just as soon as it hit the ground. >> we have encountered a lot of ice, and crews are walking gingerly as you can see on the ice. we were able to get salt down right away but we are awaiting the major salt trucks to get here to help us out.

side of 422, we are seeing problem spots from out of the area of oaks down to 202 and really right now we are seeing delays on i-95 southbound from the northeast down from the vine street expressway. we have volume on the vine going to and from the schuylkill. traveling in new jersey we have a water main break at mount evefram avenue just beyond ferry a avenue. that is not our only one. we have one in montgomery county which actually could have been the the cause of an accident, very near by this is susquehanna road near limekiln pike. watch out for icy conditions and police still directing traffic, erika. police charge a mount laurel man with killing his wife. kyle crosby was arraigned by video in mount holly. he is charge with the murder of his two-year old wife erika crippen and endangering lives of her two children. crosby was apprehended in brooklawn monday night driving crippen's car. investigators are searching for her body, she has not been seen since. her family says close another won't happen until they can bury the young mother.

freezing cold in chester county. the the chester county spca has nickname the male chihuahua christopher robin. he was rescued from a cage left outdoors at a home in valley town hip on saturday. when he arrived at spca he was severely hypothermic. another dog in the cage had died. the owner of those dogs will likely be prosecuted. and caught on camera two police officers were nearly killed when a car lost control in a icy michigan highway. police say a jeep went way too fast for conditions plowing right in the cruiser blocking traffic. one of the officers said he didn't realize how close a call it really was until he saw this dash cam video. >> both myself and my partner ran up to the the car. didn't even think about myself until ten or 15 minutes later when my brother said you almost died, you know, that is when he started to think about things. >> the the officer says that video was an important reminder for drivers to slow down.
