i'm lauren lyster in for anne-marie green. krystofer lee cornell spoke of his support for the islamic state group. cornell planned a deadly attack against government officials. susan mcginnis is in washington. good morning, susan. >> good morning, lauren. authorities have apparently been watching cornell sense the sum wher enhe first started posting online his support for terror groups and making threats against members of continuation, but when it appears he was starting to put a plan to attack the u.s. capitol into action they made a move. they stopped 20-year-old christopher cornell as he was taking the final steps to washington and execute his plan. his plan was to kill employees and officers working in and around the u.s. capitol. cornell's plot was foiled outside this gun range in southwestern ohio. while he allegedly bought two

semiautomatic rifles and 600 rounds of ammunition police were waiting outside to arrest him. >> by that time. the agents had come across the parking lot. two agents were on top of him. two or stlee. >> reporter: court documents showed cornell posted other material online supporting isis. his father said he was a kid who somehow lost his way. >> i believe he was really vulnerable and i believe he was coerced in a lot of ways. >> last summer cornell allegedly told an fbi informant, i believe we should wage jihad under our own orders and plan attacks. lawmakers on the hill are placing the fbi for stopping the plot and they also remain concerned about the growing threat of home grown terrorists. michael mccaul pressed the administration to work your jen gently to counter violent islam
