back on "eyewitness news" with some very brave, or perhaps crazy, people, taking the plunge down the shore, annual polar bear plunge took place saturday in the wildwood. we're talking about a ice cold ocean here, temperature, 37 degrees yeah each plunger had to raise a hundred doll a ars for the special olympics in new jersey. so at least it it was for a good cause, that much we can say about it. >> i like when people are passionate about their cause i'm sure it kept them warm
6:14 am
nicole we will be find something rain today. if you have outdoor plans, expect to be carrying an umbrella we are looking at dry conditions through philadelphia a it is in the dry every where in our area we will head down to the shore and ocean city, as you can see this lone jogger but this wet boardwalk reflecting the the lights there we have a wet start to the the day and some cases it has started already. in fact, this is a boardwalk tour that we are giving you this morning. the here's another boardwalk in rehoboth beach and it is also very wet with a temperature of 32 degrees, as well. i think these temperatures have come up from there. while that picture may be accurate i'm wondering about that because so many other temperatures in the the area are now, pretty much, above the freezing mark and well above. we've got 46 wildwood. 48 degrees in atlantic city. forty-one millville. thirty-nine in dover. it is 32 in the wilmington area as you go north the the temperatures are colder and that is why as this precipitation comes in and
6:15 am
before it warms up, which it will do quickly once precipitation arrives, these temperatures are in this marginal level. we have at least a chance of a little will bit of freezing rain, first thing this morning. now, as you can see on storm scan three not everybody is seeing this rain right new but you are to the the south. it is climbing into new castle county just a little will bit. we've got it through cape may county and cumberland county we're also looking at rain through atlantic county. for the rest of us it is just the cloud cover right now getting readied for precipitation to follow. temperatures in the the 40's though as this low pressure system rides up along the coast, cold front comes through here and it doesn't do much temperature wise. we're close to 40 degrees once again tomorrow. we will not exactly hit it or might be a degree over but if you use 40 as a guideline that would be, not out of the realm of what you should be doing. now as we go on to tuesday, we will end up with fairly quiet conditions but that doesn't last forever either. because we do have a clipper system that may be coming by
6:16 am
here for wednesday. this is what i meant though when you see this pink line as precipitation comes in you will see a chance of the brief freezing rain and it fills in, not even there probably an hour. so some heavy rain notice yellow by the time we get to 10:00 o'clock in the morning we are looking at heavier rain as well and that continues, as we go through 1:00 o'clock this a afternoon, along the the shore areas this thing start to push away. we will have one or two showers left behind but the general trendies for clearing as we get the to the midnight hour, bright day tomorrow but it will be a breezy one so 2:00 in the afternoon martin luther king junior day of service, a lot of people will be out doing good things. weather will be fine. chilly but windy. as we go through the the next bit of time we will be watching for better weather conditions for us. so, how much rahn do we get? well this computer model says by two or 3:00 o'clock this afternoon we have seen between one and 2 inches of rain along the shore areas and we will fill that number in as this
6:17 am
system moves along the coast and then moves to the north. so rain a arriving around day break today, possibility of freezing rain at the start especially north and west and the amount three quarter to one and a quarter inches, rain ending by early evening and some poor drainage flooding of course, is possible out there. otherwise 44 in philadelphia. fifty-two at the shore. poconos 38 degrees. the just know it will be a very wet day to day, a day you will be umbrella and pets will be inside a hope. we've got temperatures that will be mild enough but with the the rain, it doesn't feel that mild. thirty-two tonight. any rain showers will start to end and then after midnight we will clear out and get down to that 32-degree temperature. over the the next couple of days we are looking at 40 degrees tomorrow or thereabouts, a little bit breezy object the day tomorrow, and then tuesday 39, and wednesday, we have a chance of picking up a rain or a snow shower this would be anywhere flakes because of the temperature profile from a clipper system and then by
6:18 am
