highways, with salt and when snow begins to fall whether it is late morning early afternoon they will be salting the roadways, keeping the roadways wet, you mr. as necessary, and then the timing of the storm is obviously a concern because it is looking like it will appear to extend in the evening rush hour. >> penndot wants drivers to stay at least six car lengths behind those car and plow trucks and give them room to do the job they need to do to keep you avenue. so when exactly should we expect this trouble to start? let's check with katie fehlinger. >> good morning, welcome back. we are expect to go see that snow as gene mentioned at penndot right in time for the renning rush. while this is a clipper system it is a typical because it will intensify moving through. it will bring south relatively modest snow accumulation but timing is awful, with this. nothing out there right now. sky cam three looking a okay over ben franklin bridge this will be a hot bed of messy activity here later on into the evening. meanwhile lets go back to storm scan three.
4:32 am
it is quiet the a moment ago. nothing more than a couple clouds out there at this hour. we can continue to zoom it out and see leading edge of what is on the edge here. even right now it doesn't look that impressive across ohio here we will continue to track this though, moving swiftly across the midwest and into our region as early as just after lunchtime. that is about the time, give or take a few hours that winter wet the era advisories will take effect. we are eag areas tart to get extendedded here. dit in the the include philadelphia, but now it does as well as lower bucks montgomery county but notice poconos you are not in it. the neither is lehigh rally. it is backward, don't you think a lot of times you think of snow systems coming through you think of the the poconos this will not gipped you but you are in the looking at anything significant this time around. really hot bed of activity will be southern new jersey and into delaware. the basically traveling south of philadelphia a on i-95 you will get hit the hardest here with the the worst of what this system has to offer.
4:33 am
we look for it, there it goes. what happened on my pause points they all went like that. but there were pause point in there to show you system will be moving in the afternoon. we will jump on to the next thing this is when it timing will begin here. light the snow for us beginning as early as 1:00 p.m., generally it will be west of philadelphia a for that early start time and it will will all just over spread, from west to east. steady snow looks like it is coming, timing is horrible, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and even though it is not a ton of accumulation we're talking one to 3 inches in general it is coming with terrible terrible timing. basically you will need to plan around this if you can. vittoria, it will be a real mess over there over to you. absolutely even on saturday when we had that severe accident multiple vehicle crash on the schuylkill expressway there wasn't too much precipitation on the ground. you do want to be careful out there no matter when our weather reporters are calling for any sort of precipitation because it will affect your

roadways in a big way. i noticed looking at the the road it looked to be slick. the just keep that in mind. traveling on i-95 and rest of the majors you are in the clear. there are in problems or delays out there. taking a look at i-95 around academy good north and southbound. moving down vine street expressway also a beautiful ride. maybe heading to the i-95 and maybe the schuylkill using westbound direction of the vine, speed sensors are high up in the 50's. not only the the vine street the expressway but every where so you do have good news out there let's talk about northeast philadelphia, for a second it is that coney millnor street closedded around cottman avenue as a result of the accident. there is an investigation. best alternate would be to take state road. we have construction project in new jersey a affecting both sides of 295 between 42 and 168, that will be ongoing until 6:00 a.m. erika. breaking news now in north philadelphia, two police officers injured in the violent three car collision. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jane carabao is on the scene with more details jan.
4:35 am
>> reporter: ukee and erika it is surprising there were no serious injuries here, the the most serious of the injuries police tell us was suffered by that police officer driving his vehicle just a cut to his head and a concussion. you can tell how surprising it is based on all of the debris left behind and you can tell will how strong this impact was here. this is a three car accident involving a police car and two other cars, the crash happened here at 25th and lehigh around 3:00 o'clock this morning. the police officers were transporting a a 24 year-old gunshot victim to temple hospital at the time of the accident. that victim had three gun shots to his legs. police were driving with their lights, siren on and as police were traveling east on lehigh they got in the accident with the lexus traveling north on 25th and then cars crashed in the third vehicle a camaro traveling west on lehigh everyone was taken to temple hospital in stable condition. now, this morning there is no

word on how fast anyone was driving but we are learning more about the driver's of the civilian vehicle. police tell us they are both non-licensed drivers. no information about the ages just that they are male, non-licensed drivers. back out here live on the scene you can see that the accident reconstruction team will have to go through here to determine exactly what happened here but a lot of destruction left behind, surprising that there are no serious injuries here. of course, police say there will be tickets citations involved because these drivers are non-licensed but just exactly how everything happened here that is still under investigation. the just as soon as we will get more information we will bring it straight to you. live from northeast philadelphia jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". we have a accidentally accident in holmesberg to tell but police say an suv crashed in the wall in the 7300 block of million nor street and a passenger was kill. another 22-year old man was also injured. the driver is under arrest accused of driving under the influence.

far on the majors. so all and all a very nice commute at 4:53. this shot of the schuylkill expressway around spring garden you look great. we have an accident situation off of the highways on lehigh avenue closing lehigh avenue between 25th and 24th your best alternate traveling this area would be to take huntington or somerset. there is an investigation as well that same location that jan carabao was reporting earlier. we have an accident at holmesberg closing millare in street ate cottman avenue. the about option is state road. no delays the with the majors. the later on will be the problem but not so much the rush hour katie. >> it is that proverbial calm before the the storm this morning we will be free and clear, nothing more than the typical delays you will find out there the on the roads but it the is a different ballgame in the early evening. even as early as of afternoon as kid are getting out of school. looking already finding some signs of life here on storm scan the beginnings of the the moisture source heading our way. we have a clipper system.
4:55 am
not the most typical we have ever seen. for one thing it has warm air to work with in advance of it. we will likely start off with some rain, out toward coastal area generally snow for everyone else. we will look at these future snow amounts and it is all over where we have a coating up to an inch or three, the lowest totals oddly enough go to the mountain terrain because the the access of higher moisture rolls through delaware and southern new jersey this time around. so that is why we're expecting potentially even a little bull's eye of 4 inches in those spots. looking forward in you're witness weather three day forecast, we're expecting that snow to make its arrival just after lunchtime in the western most counties but by that point we have got winter weather advisories that will be in effect for philadelphia, adjacent counties and points south and it will be snow that even though comes down lightly it will persist right through evening rush. licensing gone by midnight in the clear for both thursday
